Discoverer Parameter : ICX: Discoverer Parameters
Hi Experts,
ICX: Discoverer Parameters profile option : is pointing to the EBS URL and is set as exitURL : *****
In the MOS : its is gives as : ICX: DISCOVERER PARAMETERS (ICX_DISCOVERER_PARAMETERS)
at the site, user or responsibility level and it will be added automatically to
the URL when an E-Business Intelligence (BIS/EDW) analysis workbook is called .
But i did not understand that ,
And i open the URL gives under this profile option and it is directing to Oracle apps Homepage but it saying as Discoverer Parameter.
Can someone please give me some more information on it why this profile option is pointing to EBS URL.
I am using EBS : 11510
Thanks In Advance

Discoverer Parameters in EUL Tables
Hi All,
In which DB tables the information about the Parameter for each Worksheet of Discoverer Workbooks are stored.Also where are the default values for the parameter stored in the Darabase table?
Thanks,
HPHi All,
I just got an update from oracle, which says that for Oracle discovere 4.1.37, we can not change the parameters of our discoverer reports from SQL.
FYI (following was oracle response)
There is no way to change the default value in Disco but using Disco Desktop or Plus. You can open a workbook with different values for the parameters, even save it, but you cannot change the default values for the parameters. Example for opening a workbook for parameters in the command line and saving it:
dis41usr.exe /savedb d:\discvr31\work\wkbook1.dis /parameter "dept_param" 20 /savedb d:\discvr31\work\ wkbook2.dis.
Hope this will be helpful for all the discoverer developers.
Thanks all.

HIding discoverer parameters in URL
I was wondering if it is possible to hide or otherwise encrpt the Discoverer parameter values in the URL.
I understand how to hide static parameters, but could not find a way to hide dynamic paramters. We need the abilitiy to hide these parameters so a user could not change the parameter values in the URL itself.
For Example:
Oracle Portal site has three dropdown lists. These values are dynamic and need to be passed to discoverer/plus in a secure method.
Let's say these values are selected. School=1234 District=123456 Role=staff
The discover/plus report will then take these values and display the proper data. It's URL will then be https://www.server.com/discoverer/plus?
School=1234&District=123456&Role=staff
If everything was static, then we could implement what you recommended, but we need a secure, dynamic method.
YOur guidance is greatly appreciated.OK. It looks like the Adobe article has a link to the topic
in the second sentence! Which I breezed right passed: "Passing
request data with URL fragments."
Apparently there is no direct URL for this page of
information. I'll take a look now.

Discoverer Parameters Usage.
Hi All,
I am new to Discoverer. I am trying to use parameters of the report in my calculation. Can Someone throw some light on this.
I had developed a report with 2 parameters. These parameters are not based on column from table they are based on None. They give me value on which one of my column calculation is based on. When I am creating the calculation I am getting a message as inappropriate data field. and also these parameters are greyed out when i see them in parameter box.
Can someone suggest me a way to handle this scenario.
Thanks in Advance.Hi,
You cannot more a worksheet, only a workbook. To move a workbook between instances you have to either use Discoverer Desktop and save the workbook to the desktop, or you can use the Discoverer Admin 4i command line and export the workbook to a .eex file then import the workbook into the new instance.

Discoverer Parameters: Year to Date
Hi guys,
At the moment im working on a database warehousing project. I'm using discoverer as a front end for a user friendly environment. Does anyone know how i can create a parameter to show the year to date? i need to put the following condition into the paramater:
FULL_DATE BETWEEN =add_months(sysdate,-12) AND =sysdate
However, as im sure you'll find, you cannot use the 'BETWEEN' function when using parameters :( - Ideally i'd like the user to be able to choose between two buttons, one showing all the data and one showing year to date. I would prefer to use a parameter to do this rather than the user adding/removing conditions from worksheet.
Thanks in advance,
Chris.Hi Chris
Take a close look at Rod's answer because you can use BETWEEN when using parameters. Rod's answer looks for the code YTD and if found uses the full year to date.
Another solution would be to use a parameter that asks the user whether they want to see the year to date, receiving Y or N. Having got the answer you then create a suitable DECODE, like this:
FULL_DATE BETWEEN DECODE(:YTD_QUESTION,'Y',ADD_MONTHS(SYSDATE,-12), FULL_DATE) AND SYSDATE
This solution works when the datatype that you are checking for will not allow a user to type characters, so can be used when a date or number is being checked.
Best wishes

Hi
can you pls let me know the EUL table names where all the parameter of the discoverer reports are stored.

YramHi,
The parameters are defined inside the workbooks and not as objects in the database. -
Dynamic Data Connection Parameter and Report Parameters
Post Author: despec
CA Forum: General
Hello to all,I am using a business view that is based on a dynamic data connection of 13 databases, each a different school. When I use the BV is a CXrystal Report (XI), it correctly, of course, uses the "read only" parameter for me to select a school. My problem arises when I try to enter a student name "list of values" parameter using that same dynamic data connection. After I select the "read only" school parameter, I then select that student name and immediately, the "read only" school parameter resets to "--". Therefore when I click okay, I get an error saying that my selection for the first parameter is invalid.Anyone have any suggestion on how I may be able to resolve this?Thanks,DavidHello,
Jsut a reminder this is not a Support Case Management system but for all to use.
Since you have BOE 3.1 you should have a valid support contract. Log into Service Market Place and create a case on line and a support Engineer will call you.
If you don't know how to then ask your Manager who is your SAP Account Super User and that person can add you to the list and give you a log in ID and password.
Thank you

Invoking discoverer from OA framework page
When i try to invoke the disoverer link from the home page via RUNDISCOVERER function, it works. But if we try the some from OA framwork page, it gave error (page cannot be displayed).
Is there any other function for this ?Is this what counts as "support" for the OA framework?
I haven't been able to get my report to work properly, but at least I get a different error. In my case, the OA framework is truncating part of the parameter list. But since it looks like I may have gotten one step further, maybe what I did will help you:
1. Create a the pl/sql function per oracle's note (check metalink)
2. Create a "link" item in the OA Fwk "page" that calls a function.
3. For the "destination function" property of the "link" I used the name of the function I defined in the Oracle application.
NOTE, make sure when you save the Discoverer report in the DB, you use the name in File > Manage Workbooks > Properties for the report name. You also need to run the report in viewer to get the "workbook/wbk" number.
4. Write code in the page controller to add any parameters to your report. Here's a partial example:
public void processRequest(OAPageContext pageContext, OAWebBean webBean)
paramStringBuffer.append("parameters=wsk~28*qp_Project_Number_Parameter~");
OALinkBean linkDJ =
(OALinkBean)webBean.findIndexedChildRecursive("LinkToDJReport"); //Name of the link on whateverPG.xml
if (linkDJ != null)
linkDJ.setInvokeFunctionParams(paramStringBuffer.toString());
}//if
Note the parameters for the actual report should be written with "*" for "&" and "~" for equals.
5. Make sure the discoverer profile options are set up properly. It sounds like you already did that, but I changed ICX: Discoverer Default End User Layer Schema Prefix and ICX: Discoverer Parameters. The parameters I have are: po=10011110101101111111000&act=Apply Parameters&anlsdf=DD-MON-RRRR&pg=1
Of course this works fine for everywhere OTHER than the OA framework.
My issue is that from the OA framework page, when it's run from the server the link apparently only sends one parameter as part of the URL. I'm really disappointed to see you don't appear to have gotten any help for the relatively simple problem you're having. Maybe it's not too late for me to consider another product for my project. -
Hi guys,
I have created a link to Discoverer report in applications that works beautifully but there is one downside in it. When we invoike the report to launch in Discoverer Viewer it opens in the same browser window. Does anyone know how to make it open in a new browser window? I have looked into ICX: Discoverer parameters and other profile options but could not find anything pertaining to that. Also looked into Function parameters but seems to be missing it. Help, anybody!
Thanks in advance.hey, follow this Note for 11i: Note:278095.1 or this one for r12: Note:471303.1

Reporting Services web service complex xml type report parameters
Hi,
I have the following xml type parameter in my request query that I use in reporting services.
<Parameter Name="accountDetails" Type="XML" xmlns:d4p1="thevalue" xmlns:i="thevalue">
<DefaultValue>
<d4p1:AccountDetailDto>
<d4p1:AccountNumber>12345</d4p1:AccountNumber>
<d4p1:AccountType>Sales</d4p1:AccountType>
</d4p1:AccountDetailDto>
</DefaultValue>
I want to know how I can assign values to the accountDetails parameter from report parameters, I've tried to call it from the dataset parameter properties but it doesn't return any values. I created Parameters!accountDetails.Value on the dataset parameters
properties and assigned it the following value: it only returns empty columns
="<AccountDetailDto><AccountNumber>"& Parameters!AccountNumber.Value &"</AccountNumber><AccountType>"& Parameters!AccountType.Value &"</AccountType></AccountDetailDto>"
You're help will be highly appreciated as I've been trying to solve this for a while nowHi Alisa,
Perhaps I should explain my problem clearly...
This is my query request that I send to the webservice:
<Query>
<Method Name="GetPerAccountAssetAllocation" Namespace="http://tempuri.org/">
<Parameters>
<Parameter Name="accountDetails" Type="XML" xmlns:d4p1="thevalue" xmlns:i="thevalue">
<DefaultValue>
<d4p1:AccountDetailDto>
<d4p1:AccountNumber>12345</d4p1:AccountNumber>
<d4p1:AccountType>JSE</d4p1:AccountType>
</d4p1:AccountDetailDto>
</DefaultValue>
</Parameter>
</Parameters>
</Method>
<SoapAction>http://tempuri.org/IPortfolioManagementService/GetPerAccountAssetAllocation</SoapAction>
<ElementPath IgnoreNamespaces="true">*</ElementPath>
</Query>
It works well when I run it just like this, that is without specifying any parameters in the report data dialogue window or on the dataset parameters properties, it returns the values and columns correctly.
So my problem is, I need to find out how(xml parameter syntax, steps e.t.c)
I can do to allow users to specify the accountDetails parameter, its quite tricky for me coz its an xml type parameter, Im not sure if I should just specify the AccountNumber and
ReportType parameters separately:
I've tried the following without any success:
1. Under the dataset properties: I tried not to specify a default value for the accountDetails parameter on the xml query, then I added a parameter called "accountDetails" under the dataset parameters properties, then under parameter
value I added the following xml value :
<d4p1:AccountDetailDto>
<d4p1:AccountNumber>Parameters!AccountNumber.Value</d4p1:AccountNumber>
<d4p1:AccountType>Parameters!AccountType.Value</d4p1:AccountType>
</d4p1:AccountDetailDto>
(I also added the AccountNumber and AccountType parameters under the report data dialogue window)
This returns empty columns, is there something I'm missing, or am I doing this incorrectly? -
Issue with parameter in my package
Hi !
I have a problem and I don't know how resolve it ... and I don't know where searching an answer ...
So my problem is that :
I create a concurrent program with a parameter : p_type_edition (in lower case)
I create a dataTemplate with the parameter (in lower case) and a beforeReport:
<dataTemplate name="XXAPINMOXML" description="SUIVI DES INTERETS MORATOIRES" defaultPackage="XXAPINMO_PKG">
<parameters>
<parameter name="p_type_edition"/>
</parameters>
<dataTrigger name="beforeReportTrigger" source="XXAPINMO_PKG.beforeReport"/>
Then I create my Package XXAPINMO_PKG as :
CREATE OR REPLACE PACKAGE XXAPINMO_PKG AS
p_type_edition varchar2(150);
FUNCTION beforeReport return boolean;
END XXAPINMO_PKG;
show errors package XXAPINMO_PKG;
CREATE OR REPLACE PACKAGE BODY XXAPINMO_PKG
AS
FUNCTION beforeReport return boolean is
BEGIN
fnd_file.put_line(FND_FILE.LOG,'p_type_edition ' || p_type_edition );
return true;
END beforeReport;
END XXAPINMO_PKG;
show errors package body XXAPINMO_PKG;
My problem is that I can not see the value of the parameter in my trace ...
It seems that the parameter is not "entered" in the package ...
I'm sorry I'm French so my english is bad :(
Someone can help me please ?!? I don't know what to do !
I use XDODTEXE and my version is 5.6.3.
Thanks a lot !!

user586891Hi Darshan,
Thanks for your answer.
I change my package to do an another test.
My XML :
<dataTemplate name="XXAPINMOXML" description="SUIVI DES INTERETS MORATOIRES" defaultPackage="XXAPINMO_PKG">
<dataQuery>
<parameters>
<parameter name="p_type_edition"/>
</parameters>
<PROPERTIES>
<property name="include_parameters" value="true"/>
</PROPERTIES>
My package :
CREATE OR REPLACE PACKAGE XXAPINMO_PKG AS
p_type_edition varchar2(150);
FUNCTION beforeReport return boolean;
END XXAPINMO_PKG;
show errors package XXAPINMO_PKG;
CREATE OR REPLACE PACKAGE BODY XXAPINMO_PKG
AS
FUNCTION beforeReport return boolean is
BEGIN
fnd_file.put_line(FND_FILE.LOG,'p_type_edition ' || p_type_edition);
IF p_type_edition = 'Y' THEN
fnd_file.put_line(FND_FILE.LOG,'Case Y');
ELSE
fnd_file.put_line(FND_FILE.LOG,'Case N');
END IF;
return true;
END beforeReport;
END XXAPINMO_PKG;
show errors package body XXAPINMO_PKG;
Then I launch my concurrent program with 'Y' in parameter and I see the log of my concurrent program :
XDO Data Engine Version No: 5.6.3
Resp: 51213
Org ID : 45
Request ID: 2468909
All Parameters: p_type_edition=Y
Data Template Code: XXAPINMOXML
Data Template Application Short Name: XXAP
Debug Flag: N
{p_type_edition=Y}
Calling XDO Data Engine...
Début des messages de journalisation à partir du fichier FND_FILE.
p_type_edition
Case N
Fin des messages de journalisation à partir du fichier FND_FILE.
But normally it should be 'Case Y' which would be written ...
And when I see the XML via Diagnostic I don't see the parameter however I add <property ...>
I really don't understand ...
Maybe do you have an another idea ?

How to call a form from one form to another form with parameter..
i'm having a from that will shows the info about the orders that the client has. and i want to show the information of the client. for that i have created one form and i want to call the form from my current form with the given client name as a parameter. then the client_info form has to query with the given parameter. so im passing the :client_order_info.client_name as parameter to the call_form('client_info.fmx',:client_order_info.client_name); but my question is how to access that parameter in the client_info form.. plz help me.. i tried a lot ..
Create a parameter (object navigator -> parameters) with the name client_name and you can access that value in your client info form using :PARAMETER.client_name.
P.S. while calling you can pass parameter using 'cilent_name =>' to make sure that the correct parameter is getting assigned to the value. -
How to create an optional parameter in ssrs report
I have a report where I want to give the report user the option of entering a phone number as a filter if they want to pull data only for a particular phone number or pull the report without entering a phone number as a parameter, thus disregarding
the use of the filter. I have parameter for the phone number that shows as a text box where the report user can enter the number then click to run the report. A filter on the data set that uses the phone number parameter as the
value. It works fine when I enter a phone number (it returns the row associated with the phone number entered. However when I do not enter a phone number, no rows are returned. How can I get all rows to be retuned when
I do not enter a value for the parameter?
M CollierHello,
Did you specify the DefaultValue or ValidValue of the parameter 'parameter name1' by get values from another parameter or itself?
If there is another parameter or
cascading parameters , the error may caused by the order of parameters. When preview report, the order of the parameters in the Report Data pane determines the order in which the parameter queries appear in the report. Please verify the order
of the cascading parameters.
Whats's more, please also check the parameters name and the acceptable values of the parameters.

How to Change Value set Dynamically for a Parameter in Apps?
Hi All,
I have a requirement where i need to change the value set dynamically for a given Parameter. This goes as, I have a Concurrent Program with 4 parameters. First Parameter is mandatory Business group.Second Parameter is Warehouse. Based up on the First parameter the second parameters LoV's are displayed, the third and fourth parameters value sets are dependent up on the Second parameter value. Parameter 2,3,4 Value sets are Table type. So i Used .$FLEX$.Value_setname to retrive the LOV's
The Requirment now is that if the User doesn't enter the Parameter 2 than the Third Parameter field must be Open and he must be able to enter the Free text. In my case it is an Order Number. If the User enters the paramter 2 value than LOV's for ORder number pertaining to that Warehouse must get displayed. I've figured that this can be possible only if i change the Valuesets Dyanamically. I'm not sure if that is possible or not.
I have tried :
Using a Dummy Parameter with a new valueset(Transactable Independent) and giving Y and N based up on Warehouse parameter input.
SELECT (DECODE ( :$FLEX$.WAREHOUSE_NAMES,NULL,'Y','N')) from dual;
The default type was SQL.
Then in the 3rd Parameter i have used Case function to differentiate Y or N. The third parameter being ORder number, is a table type and derived from Oe_order_headers_all.
In the Query section i tried using dummy parameter value set to retreive the values. I was terribly Unsuccessful in doing so.
Does the above Case exists or is Doable? Please, Help me out if somone had worked on Similar thing or have any idea of standard report/program using it in Oracle.
Thanks alot for the Help!You will probably have better luck on the eBusinesSuite forum. This is more of a setup issue when defining your LOV and program parameters than it is a SQL or PL/SQL issue.

Good luck - this is an aggravating issue to work with and I wish I did have the answer for you!
