Discussion: Bytecode protection

This thread is about discussing the present state of Java bytecode (.class file) protection.
To make your programs portable, you are supposed to make your program available as bytecodes (.class files), or maybe the bytecodes stuffed in a .jar file. The avialability of decompilers like DJ Java Decompiler makes it possible to reconstrust the source code from the bytecodes.
So how do you protect your code? And what does Sun have in mind for this (the same possibly applies to Microsoft Intermediate Language [MSIL] run by the Common Language Runtime [CLR])?

Discussed many times. Try using the site Search facility, and if that's still performing badly try pointing Google at this site.

  • Password protect iWeb page

Is there a way to require a password when visiting a page made with iWeb like there was with Homepage?

That's correct. Also, to clarify, you cannot password protect a page, you have to password protect the entire site. (There are ways around this)
But password protecting will not prevent those who visit from downloading your images. If that is your concern, try searching these discussions, or post a new question. What I remember of previous discussions about protecting images is that a)there are some ways to discourage this but b) there is not way to make it completely impossible to download images.

  • Challenge on illegal distribution blockage

    Hi, everybody.
This post is about a very discussed theme: protecting yor app
    from copyright violations.
I have a problem with my client distribution model. It's
about delivering an app that is paid montlhy. The user creates a
username, pay and is allowed to use the app for a month.
The service is based on providing credit informations to a
broad business community. So as users can search private databases
    for a month.
I don't want to suggest my client to charge users by each
search. We understand that the better distribution model is already
been practiced for a long time, and change this model is not on our
    plans.
Once we're developing an easy-to-download-and-install Adobe
AIR software, the problem is to avoid that users can start sharing
the same username and password, paying just one license for
    undetermined ammount of users.
As I said, one of the options is to charge on each search,
what could mean a failure for my client business.
    So guys, any suggestions?
    Regards,
    CaioToOn!

You could implement a subscription service for an AIR
application the same as you would for a web application. I.e. when
the user access your search service, you validate that their
account is up-to-date. Just because AIR is easily downloaded and
installed doesn't change this aspect of the problem, especially
since it sounds like your users must be online to use your service
    anyway.
Preventing multiple users from using the same account is also
much the same problem as with a web application in this instance. A
server-side approach might work for this too. If too many requests
are made by the same account from multiple IPs at the same time,
then you have reason to suspect that the terms of your subscription
    are being violated.
There are ways to uniquely identify an instance of an AIR
application that could help you control access (e.g. by generating
random token on first use). But if your users typically search from
multiple computers, then it might be inconvenient for them to be
locked down to a single instance. If you chose this route, you
could, of course, allow the subscriber to "authorize" a limited
number of application instances as a way to balance respect for
your license with the convenience of your customers.

    hi...
think its the problem with URL you have given in browser...
if you have a page in your application named index.html, we can load the page by this URL.....
    http://localhost:8080/myapp/
where myapp is the folder where u have index.html
if u r saving it as index.jsp the URL should be like this.
    http://localhost:8080/myapp/index.jsp
U have to give the full path of the file in URL...
    Hope this will work..

  • Version 10.1.82.76 buffering nightmare

    Please please please somone come up with an alternative to this product or fix it.  Various sites seeem to work fine the first time but after one video finishes 50 % of the time no other videos will load from that site.  Examples of sites that will not download and continue to buffer;
    www.cnet.com
    www.msnbc.com
    www.cnn.com
    www.foxnews.com
    www.espn.com
Shall I go on.  I really doubt that these sites have any kind of upload speed issue and or programming bug.
I have been dealing with this for at least 2 months now.
I am running WindowsXp with 4GB of memory, solid state harddrive and Internet explorer 8 4mb download 768kb up at work and 25mb download 10000 up at home.  Therefore it is not download related.  I have tried all solutions offered including, Enablein/disabling harware acceleration, increasing/decreasing cache size, and updating video driver.
Machine scans clean with no viruses, all other internet content loads without an issue.  I am also having the same problem on 2 other machines with similar or better configurations.
Bottom line I am seriously considering dumping my entire Adobe Master collection and suggesting another product for my office if this does not get fixed by the end of September.
Please fix this, even if it means releasing an older version with the ability to press pause until the video loads.  The new version is not better it is worse...MUCH worse.

  • Adobe Reader X (10.0.1.434) lauch 2 process instances on Windows

    Hi Adobe,
I have installed Adobe Reader X (Version: 10.0.1.434) on windows platform. I have noticed that whenever I lauch the application once (thru .pdf file or even launching the adobe reader application itself) there appears two process instances (AcroRd32.exe) . Can you please tell me why i am facing this behavior?
Moreover, I found some individual blogs discussing that Protected View may cause this, therefore I have tried to revert (un-check) it but still facing the same issue.
Please note that, the no. of process instances are critical for me as one of my application tracks the no. of adobe instances user launches and the above mentioned behavior is resulting in-accurate calculations.
    Thanks & Regards,
    Maverick.

Thanks you Xiral for your reply,
In my case the senerio is little different the article is discussing about the case when user is closing the intance of Adobe reader. but in my case when ever I start the application (i.e. AdobeReader.exe) 2 process instances of "AcroRd32.exe" get started (Which can we viewed using Windows Task Manager).
Beside that this is very consistent what I have observed is that every time I launch the application (By double clicking on Adobe Reader exe or by its associated file). Moreover I have checked the behavior on different machines as always (on Windows 7 and Windows XP OS), the result for all machines are same.
To elaborate the senerio let me guide step by step as follows:
    1. Open "Windows Task Manager".
    2. Observe that there is "0" intances of "AcroRd32.exe" in "Processes" tab.
    3. Double click on the desktop shortcut for Adobe Reader 10.1 (or any other shortcut link or .pdf file). to launch single instance of Adobe reader
    4. Open "Windows Task Manager" again.
    5. This time you will note that there are 2 instances of "AcroRd32.exe" processes running on your machine. while only 1 process windows appearing.
Now, the problem I m facing is due to the behavior that why when user is running single instance of the application, there appear 2 processes. In other words, 2 processes of "AcroRd32.exe" for each instance of application.
    Thanks & Regards,
    Maverick.

  • Imaging Drivers update

    Hi,
I downloaded Imaging Driver Update for January 2014 and executed the batch
file to apply the update on my ZCM server but I think it doesn't applied.
Batch file was executed very fast, no bakup folder created...
My ZCM server is at 11.2.4. Should I install MU1 before ?
Is January 2014 the latest driver update bundle ?
    Thanks.

    Shaun,
No log file created by the batch file.
    What I do is:
    - Download Jan14 driver update
    - extract it in a temp folder
    - execute the imaging_driver_update.bat file in command line
And then, message displayed that I'm
Applying wrong imaging driver updates .....
    Exiting driver update...

  • ZCM 11.2.4

    Hi,
I need to install a new server with 11.2.4 (same as my existing ZCM server)
to be able to migrate my old x86 server to the new x64.
    Where can I find ZCM 11.2.4 update ? I only see 11.3.0a.
    Thanks.

    Thomas,
Am I OK with this migration/upgrade plan ?
    Windows 2003 x86 to Windows 2008 x64 server on ZCM 11.2.4. Upgrade to 11.3
then update to 11.3.2. Is there a better way to do this ?
How long should I wait between each ZCM upgrade/update ?
    Thanks for your precious help.
