Display european languages in TERMINAL

Hi, all.
I'm doing a project using JAVA currently, and need to display some european languages in terminal. However, some special characters cannot be displayed properly,like <C3><A9><C3><A2>,<C3><A9>.
The file is in French and saved as UTF-8, the terminal character encoding is also set as UTF-8. I also want to know how you guys display language that isn't enlgish in terminal.
That might give me some clues.
I am using a Apple Mac, but the solution should be similar to Windows.
any words would be much appreciated.

Hello WK11-TH & welcome to discussions...
The general approach at this time is to ask if you've checked for any problematic fonts (all languages) with Apple's Font Book (look in the Applications folder). Find and remove all duplicates also.
Start there to be sure all fonts that are in play come out with a clean bill of health.
Don't hesisate to perform wholesale deletion of old and/or little used fonts - be skeptical of anything that has come from Office 2008, including those related to an Equation Editor installation.
By all means be sure any 3rd party apps AND plug-ins are Snow Leopard compatible.
An additional measure is to clear the existing font caches:

That said, 10.6.2 release notes have this to say about fonts:

Fonts fixes provided for:
• an issue with font spacing
• an issue in which some Fonts are missing
• font duplication issues

Central European Languages in id3-t

Is there any way how to display Central European Languages (Slovak, Czech, Polish, Hungarian) in id3-tags in Creative MuVu TX player correctly? As I see... [Creative MediaSource Organizer -> Settings -> Language] this is only possible for Chinese, Japanese, Korean and Russian language.
Note: I have already installed the latest version of Creative MediaSource Organizer (2.03.29).

Error :Display document : Update was terminated.While displaying the PO

Hi All,
I am creating a PO with respect to contract in SAP 4.6C system using ME21.PO is getting created successfully.But when I want to display the same in ME23 it giving me a message 'Display document : Update was terminated'.( an express message is getting generated to view in SBWP transaction code ).
I went through some of SDN forums and checked the tcode SM13 to resolve the issue .I found that there is no ABAP dump got generated for the same .
Please help me to resolve the issue ..

Hi Lakshman.
I did that, systesm is showing below error :
1 ME_CREATE_DOCUMENT V1 NORMAL Err
when click on that ,I got one more window with an option to check ABAP dump,But there is no ABAP dump exists for the same.
I cheked in ST22 also there is no DUMP available for the above issue.
Please let me know how to crack this issue.

ITunes stopped displaying other languages

My iTunes recently stopped displaying other languages. What used to be songs in japanese or korean (hangul) is now displayed as block texts. These languages appear on all other programs on my pc. ONLY ON ITUNES does it do this. To test, i even put my entire user as hangul but iTunes still showed hangul as block text. please help.
My itunes is up-to-date and i have already tried doing a repair install of itunes.

How long on average is "some days"? I loaded a 1400x1400 about 8 days ago yet I do not see it via iTS.

Custom Installation for non European languages

Hi,
While installing JRE (particularly 1.4.2_XX ) in custom mode, second option enables user to support for additional languages.
The disk size requirement is 18 MB but after installation i figured out that it takes ~8 MB.
As per documentation at http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.4.2/docs/guide/intl/locale.doc.html#jfc-table , it states that JDK on windows has language support installed as a default but for JRE custom installation is required.
I have following question related to this installation
- What files are updated with this installation? I found few files e.g. charset.jar , font files are installed within JRE installation directory.
- Does this installation updates/adds any Windows System files/font/registry?
The question has arrived as our Swing application hangs with JRE and works fine with on JDK on event of inserting thai character into JTextPane.
Any help will be highly appreciated!!!

The custom feature you are refering to is related to this RFE:
4508848 "Small" J2RE for Windows should include Western European languages

It implies selecting "support for additional languages" would include lib/charset.jar and lib/ext/localedata.jar.
This feature was also described in http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.4.2/changes.html
Internationalization
The following changes have been made to internationalization functionality in J2SE 1.4.2.
* Installation of the J2RE on Windows has changed, with impact on the supported locales. There now is a single installer, which by default installs a runtime with support for European languages if the Windows host system only supports such languages, or a runtime with support for all languages if the Windows host system supports at least one non-European language. Users can request installation of additional languages in a custom setup. For complete information on which locales and encodings are supported with which installation, see the Supported Locales and Supported Encodings documents. For general information, see internationalization.
Regarding your second question, I received the answer from our install engineer:
Yes, the installer creates many registries, and we copy java.exe/javaw.exe/javaws.exe to the Windows system directory.
I am not sure why your Swing application hangs with JRE. Did you select the "support for additional language" option during installation? (I assume you did, correct?)

i want to know can (Report Painter) display differnet language in one report depends on different user login.
like user with chinese lang login can display chinese in the report
and
user with english lang login can display english in the report?

may be my poor english make u guys misunderstand my question.
actually i am talking the first Top row (which is lead column/ descrption column)
and first Left column in a report painter.

currently i am using "change text" to type in description(english) by manual(), and the problem comes out when i login with other lang, say chinese lang for example, the column and row didn't display any text on it(all blank) after different lang login.
so just wonder is there any way to have a auto translation when different lang login.

European languages

i have a database with a characterset of AL32UTF8. It will store data in various european language including slokian, lithuanian etc. However, when i view the data on a web page using php all of the accents are missing even though everything is correct in the database. does anybody kow what i am doing wrong

do you set <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=UTF-8"> in your <head></head>
if not - try this and everything should be running fine.

How to make WebView able to display Tamil language

Dear JavaFX users,
We have written a simple web browser based on WebView. On Windows 7, it works well, can display Arabic but cannot display Tamil language
The font Arial Unicode MS is available and with shape TAMIL, and it's possible to display Tamil text in Swing controls but not in JavaFX WebvView !
I thought that WebView was Unicode UTF-8. How to make WebView able to display Tamil language.

For thus who are interested, please find below the Oracle response on this issue:
WebView uses the default JavaFX graphics pipeline, which is different than the one used for Swing/AWT. Support for right to left languages and complex characters is only planned for JDK 8 (JavaFX 8), but an early access implementation should soon be available as part of the JDK 8 weekly builds at http://jdk8.java.net/downloads.html
Whatever support for Arabic existing in JavaFX 2.2.x is not complete, and I would not recommend that you rely on it in "production" mode.

How to display the 'language code' for language dependent 'Short text' ?

I am new to BW.
Can somebody help me with the following issue?
I have an attribute 'Material category description' and I chose short text exists and made it language dependent. I had loaded the master data successfully.
Now I want to know how to check the 'language code' for this material category description. When I display the data, will the language code display by defalult?
I had checked the text table using SE11
It displays the following fields over there.

I went to RSD1 -> info-object -> Master Data/text tab. It shows my language selections there (Short text selected, language time dependent etc.) with everything grayed out.
In SE16, I could display the data in the following format.
/BIC/ST_PRID                TXTSH                 TXTMD
P01                                   umbrella                 rainyday
P02                                  tent                         waterproof
etc.
I want to see the 'language code' as one of the columns in this table.
Can you help me do that?
