Display or hide an af:panelHorizontal, what happens to child elements?

Based on a value in an af:selectOneChoice, I want to either display or hide an af:panelHorizontal element.
1.) How do I do this with the partialTriggers attribute, do I use the render attribute?
2.) What happens to the child elements inside of the af:panelHorizontal, are those displayed as well?
If the af:panelHorizontal is displayed, can I access the children in the managed bean?
Thanks,
--Todd

Well, I believe I figured it out.
Each of the components in question had the rendered attribute set to a Boolean type field in the managed bean.
By default, the field value was false.
In my JSF 1.2 beforePhase event, I was setting the value to true based on a logic within the method.
"That worked."
So, everything was rendering or not rendering when I wanted it too.
But - as soon as I tried to get the user's values - typed or selected - in the components, I would get null or default values instead of the user's values.
I tried a lot of different approaches, I tried getting the user values through the value and binding attributes and nothing worked.
So, I removed the rendered attribute to the components in question and I could get the values.
"Strange"
So, to solve the rendered or not rendered logic requirement for the page, I went through the binding instead, such as:
<af:selectOneRadio id="failoverFTPFileNameCase"
label="#{common.labelFileNameCase}"
partialTriggers="failover"
binding="#{routingRule.failoverFTPFileNameCaseSelectOneRadio}">
<f:selectItem itemLabel="mixed" itemValue="mixed"/>
<f:selectItem itemLabel="lower" itemValue="lower"/>
<f:selectItem itemLabel="upper" itemValue="upper"/>
</af:selectOneRadio>
And just set the rendering in the managed bean with:
this.failoverFTPFileNameCaseSelectOneRadio.setRendered(false);
Plus, I got the value with:
oFailoverFTPFileName = this.failoverFTPFileNameCaseSelectOneRadio.getValue()
"And Violá, it worked!"
I could get the value of the component and fulfill the rendered or not rendered logic.
"Why this is, I'm still trying to figure that out"
Thanks,

  • What happened to Premiere Elements forum?

    The Premiere group http://forums.adobe.com/community/premiere has had a sub-forum for Premiere Elements "forever"
    Today, Premiere Elements doesn't work
    What happened?
    Well... PreEl still works in the links on the RIGHT... but the main list on the left is no longer a link

    Well, Elements always had a forum... with a link from the Premiere page
    That Premiere link on the Premiere page has simply been moved/restructured
    Link is still there, just moved from the "main" section over to the right side
    All is well

  • HT1414 what happens when child sets a lock and your iPad becomes disabled because we don't know passcode

    What do you do when your child enters a pass code and forgets it therefore leaving the message "iPad is disabled connect to iTunes?"

    Recovery Mode
    1. Disconnect the USB cable from the device, but leave the other end of the cable connected to your computer's USB port.
    2. Turn off the device: Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds until the red slider appears, then slide the slider. Wait for the device to turn off.
    3.While pressing and holding the Home button, reconnect the USB cable to the device. The device should turn on.
    4. Continue holding the Home button until you see the "Connect to iTunes" screen. When this screen appears, release the Home button. iTunes should alert you that it has detected a device in recovery mode. Click OK, and then click Restore to restore the device.
    Note: Data will be lost. You may have to repeat the above many times.

  • What happened to the Elements Forum?

    I've been away for the Forum for a very long time.  Last time I was here, there were persistent FAQs. Is there something like that now?  I am researching version 7 problems in preparation for an upgrade from version 4.

    There may eventually be something like the FAQs again (the new forums just started, you know), but for now, try John R. Ellis's excellent list:

  • What happened to "options" in the displays pane?

    Each month I calibrate about 40 Cinema displays with a Monaco Optix system. For the ones on Macs, about 20, I lock out the brightness buttons using the options tab in the Displays pane in System Preferences. They all running OS 10.4.9 or 10.4.10. All of the displays are the newer model 23" displays.
    When I made my rounds this month one of the systems no longered offered the options tab though it did have the ability to rotate the screen, something not available on any other system. This was not the case last month.
    Since I couldn't unlock the buttons on this system, I couldn't calibrate the monitor.
    So here are my questions:
    1. How can I get these buttons unlocked so I can calibrate this screen?
    2. What happened and how do I fix it?
    Thanks for any help you can give.

    Mirror Door G4, 23" Cinema display   Mac OS X (10.4.9)   Using Monaco OPTIX xr calibrator.

    I figured it out.
    The USB cable that feeds the hub in the back of the monitor is damaged.
    Any cinema display will fail to show options if the USB cable is disconnected or broken.

  • What happened to the 30 inch Cinema display?

    What happened to the 30 inch Cinema display?
    I went into the Apple store to purchase one, all they had was the (too small) 27 inch with the ugly black border.
    I did find a few used 30 inch Cinema displays on ebay, they are over $1100 USED.
    Any suggestions, for a 30 inch display?

    No suggestions, apart from changing to a non-Apple display such as a LaCie one.
    I think Apple really makes a mistake with the new displays - they are nifty, granted, if you want to watch TV or the like, but they'll loose the professionals, working all day long with their displays.
    1. the new displays have an excellent resolution, no trouble there, but they are like mirrors, reflecting lamps, etc. and very tiring for the eyes. That's already a problem with my MacBook Pro but I've got to accept it - what else is there to do - and fortunately it's only my secondary system.
    2. we have gotten used to 30" and do not want to downgrade.
    I am a translator and need to work with technical plants and several open files, so 30" really helped facilitate work. And now that's all gone as the 27" display definitely is not up to scratch for day-long work...
    I ordered a 30" display right when it became available, so it's quite old now. I worry what I'll do when it breaks down ...

  • What happened to my T61 display?

    I have a wide-screen model T61. Recently I traveled with it. I carry it in a soft "Lands End" bag.
    When I arrived at my destination I discovered a strange pattern on the display. Starting near the center are two roughly circular areas. One is approx. 1 inch in diameter; the other 1.5 inches. The second one is to the right and slightly below the first. After booting my TP, these two areas are black. Extending from them vertically and horizontally (to the right) are many straight multi-colored lines. Nothing on the display is readable in this area. Only the left 40% of the screen is readable; If I guess correctly, I can drag windows over to the left side to read them. I subsequently discovered that, when the TP is turned off, the two roughly circular areas remain faintly visible on the black screen.
    Do you have a theory of what happened and what I should do about it?
    Thank you.

    One method would be to host your picture(s) externally on a site like Flikr and provide a link to the picture in your post.

    You most likely have zoom on. Double tap with THREE fingers to turn zoom off, if it is on, then: Settings>General>Accessibility...turn it off for good.

    I don't know what happened, the body of my email was not displayed any more. I must have unknowingly pressed something on my I Pad to cause this to happen ? I can read the preview lines ok, but not the mail itself, any idea how to fix this?

    Try a reset by pressing the home and sleep buttons until you see the Apple logo, ignoring the slider. Takes about 5-15 secs of button holding and you won't lose any data or settings.
    Or...
    Double tap the home button to bring up the Recents List
    Tap and hold any icon until it wiggles
    Press the red to delete the Mail app
    Press the home twice button when done.

  • What happened to my login page after display sleep?

    I'm not sure what happened but whenever my display goes to sleep and I click the trackpad to turn it back on, a dialog box shows up asking for my password. Prior to two days ago, when I woke the display the login screen would pop up with my user icon (just like the initial login screen, but without Guest), but now it's just the dialog box with a black screen. Anyone have any idea how this happened, or how to get it back to the way it was? I'm running OSX 10.8.4.

    Okay. I am still convinced a firmware password. Safe mode wouldn't be a surefire test of this, I was wrong...this would be a test for open firmware password (applicable to machine up to 2010), not EFI password (2011 +). Try Booting into Recovery Mode (command + R) or hold down option at start and select the recovery partition. Are you prompted for a password? If so, there is a fimrware password set and only Apple would be able to unlock your machine. If not, I am out of suggestions. Please test and reply. Thanks.
