Hi All,
I have tried to connect MS SQL 6.5 to build up a report. However, I encounter a problem when read Traditional Chinese. all chinese characters turn into adnormal characters. I wonder it is problem of SQL Server or some setting that I may not know. In addition, I can able to read chinese in the application program , ISQL / Query Analyzer. Please help to give idea and suggestion to fix this. Thanks
SQL Server: MS SQL Server  6.5
Client OS: Window XP ( Traditional Chinese Version)
Server OS: Window NT and Window Server 2000

Hi
If you are using a Chinese language build database, Crystal Reports English build might not display the characters properly as non english databases include one byte characters as ASCII code character and double-byte characters as their own language code character.
Traditional Chinese, Simplified Chinese, Japanese (Kanji, Hiranga, and Katakana), Korean and Vietnamese use double-byte characters.
However, a possible workaround to this issue is to verify that the encoding on the database client is configured according to the examples below. Also, you will need to install the language pack in the English environment.
CONFIGURATION EXAMPLES:
Shift-JIS for a Japanese database
Big5 for a Traditional Chinese database
GB2312 for a Simplified Chinese database
iso-2022-kr for a Korean database
Windows 1258 for a Vietnamese database
EXAMPLE SCENARIO:
An Oracle database saves non-English language data such as Japanese.
The Windows operating system is English.
STEP TO CONFIGURE THE CHARACTER CODE IN THE ENVIRONMENT SETTING
(This step is based on the details of the EXAMPLE SCENARIO.)
1. Configure the system environment on the database client side to 'Shift-JIS' as the character code set in the Environment Setting.
This results in the NLS_LANG variable set to Japanese_Japan.JA16SJIS under the registry HKEY_Local_Machine\Software\Oracle\Homeo.
STEPS TO INSTALL LANGUAGE PACK IN AN ENGLISH ENVIRONMENT
(These steps are based on the details of the EXAMPLE SCENARIO.)
1. Add languages to the computer system by clicking:
Control Panel > Regional Options > General
2. Select the check box for 'Traditional Chinese', 'Simplified Chinese', 'Japanese', 'Korean' or 'Vietnamese'.
3. Click 'Apply'.
4. When you are prompted, insert the Windows CD-ROM to install the language pack.
5. Restart the computer.
Upon completing these steps, you are able to display the languages characters in the Crystal Reports Designer in a Windows English environment.
==========
NOTE:
If the database table and field names use non-English language characters, Data Explorer in CR will not correctly display these names. However, when you preview the report, the non-English data displays correctly.
==========
Configuring the database client according to the examples and installing the language pack will display the characters successfully. However, there are cases when this workaround does not resolve the issue.
For further information about CR and double-byte languages, refer to knowledge base articles, c2008083 and c2008349.
Hope this helps!!!

    Dear all,
I am using CR 2008 SP6 and I want to provide/display the values of the parameters which the user has entered before executing the Crystal report.
Is there any way to display this values, maybe on a separate sheet or area within the report?
    Any idea would be great.

For single-value parameters, simply drag them to the report canvas to display them.  For more complext cases, see Printing Parameter Selections for Multiple or RangeValues in Crystal Reports</title></head><body><!…

  • Background Colour Incorrect when exporting to PDF from Crystal Reports 2008

    Hello All
When exporting to PDF from CR2008 the background colour of the crosstab is incorrectly displayed. The problem is as follows to create a crosstab with a grey header row and column details in white we have used the following trick.
Format Cross Tab Border Background is set to Silver.
Crosstab Expert Grand Total Background colour is set to white.
The result is a crosstab with header in grey and details in white.
This report displays correctly in CR2008, and exports as seen on screen to everything but PDF. When exporting to PDF the Crosstab is completely grey taking on only the Background colour of silver, and ignoring the Grand Total Background colour being set to white.
What is strange that when I print to PDF the format is also displayed exactly as required,
Any help on this matter would be greatly appreciated.
    Some additional details.

    Adobe Reader version 9.3.3

If this is a big issue for you then please purchase a case and a Rep can duplicate and escalate to R&D.
As a work around export to Editable RTF and in Word 2007 you can get a PDF export plug-in and then export to PDF.

  • Crystal Reports 2008 SP2 Install Error

When I try to install Crystal Reports 2008 SP2 I receive the following error...
The feature you are trying to use is on a CD-ROM or other removable disk that is not available.
Insert the 'Crystal Reports 2008 SP1' disk and click OK.
SP1 was installed via the upgrade utility that launches with the software.  I found the package folder in C:\Documents and Settings\%username%\Local Settings\Temp but it did not contain the MSI SP2 is looking for.
I've tried installing SP2 by both letting the update utility attempt to automatically install it and by just downloading it from the update utility and running the installation manually.
    Anyone experience this issue?

  • Display data on OLE object (form) in Crystal Report

    Hi All,
I m using Crystal Reports 2008. We have Business Objects XI 3.1 SP3 environment.
I have a crystal report with OLE object embedded in it. The OLE Object is a form on which the database fields and the formula fields are supposed to be displayed. The OLE Object form has multiple lines (rows) and sections. I have a formula field that sometimes brings multiple records and I want to be able to display those records as rows (one below the other) on the same page until all rows on the form are filled. I have 2 problems:
    1. When the formula field brings more than 1 record, only one record is displayed on one page and the next record goes and prints on the next page i.e. the records are not being displayed below each other.
    2. How do I make sure that the records display on the next page of the report once all empty lines/rows on the OLE object form are filled?
    Your replies are much appreciated.
    Thank you.

    Hi,
if I understand correctly, your OLE object is a form and your data needs to display on it.
What you can do is, inserting the OLE object on page header and then in the section expert, click "Underlay the following section".
Note that the structure of Crystal report is RH, PH, GH, Details.
So, if you insert OLE object in Page Header (PH) and you have a group, underlaying the OLE means displaying the object underlay Group Header (GH).
So, it is a bit of twisting to do and your OLE object needs to fit well as in A4 (or the paper size you need) consistently.

  • Crystal Report 2008 export to text problem

    Hello,
I am using Crystal Reports 2008 for generating reports in our WPF application. In this application, we are exporting the report to txt file on a button click. Now the application contains a form called u2018Print Manageru2019, through which the user can print the exported report(text files). Now the issue, when we try to the any of the exported report file through the application, the printer leaves alternate blank pages. The printer used in this case is DOT MATRIX EPSON LQ-1150II ESC/P2. We even tried printing the text file on HP Laser jet 4600, but the same issue is faced.
Also, please note that when I try to read the exported txt file, a formfeed(u2018\fu2019 page break) character  can be seen  at the place where the printer leaves a blank page. Hence, my concern is, Is there any property of crystal report that I am missing on or is this a printer driver issue? But if it would have been a driver issue, then changing the printer might have solved the issue.
I also  tried  doing u2018Keep Togetheru2019 property = false of all the sections of the report. Also, I found that the u2018New Page Afteru2019 property = true and disabled for the u2018Page Footeru2019 section. So I set u2018New Page Afteru2019 property = false programmatically as
    rdTest.ReportDefinition.Sections["Section5"].SectionFormat.EnableNewPageAfter = false;
    but no luck.
If anyone has faced similar problem or have any clues, please help!
Any kind of help in solving this issue will be highly appreciated.
    Thanks in anticipation!

    Good morning.
We've got something to get straight first
When you say "...from the Report Viewer. The report printed as expected on HP printer...", do you mean the viewer of the .NET app, or the viewer of the CR designer?
    And version 12.0.0.683, is very old (well as far as CR is concerned anyhow   ). That version is SP 1, we are now on SP 2. So that will be the place to start. Get to SP 2 which can be downloaded from here;

  • Crystal Report 2008 Area Chart Data Label Problem

Stacked Area Chart (Layer Cake) Issues:
We would like to use a Crystal Report (2008) Stacked Area Layer Cake chart to show the workload RPD's (Sum of Resources Per Day = Y value axis) and Data_Date of the study (M,Month of study date = X value axis, using fiscal year type cycle Oct - Sept).
Each Stacked Area represents the workload RPD's for a single project, or group of projects.
When showing labels or series information the chart becomes overloaded and not visible to read because there is over 400 data points.
Is there a way to break this dataset down so that values and/or labels are visible, using the crystal report options available? To suppress multiple layers and show a single label per layer?
We tried using the Color Highlight to group and display them by group and condition. The labels and series data points are still over crowded.
We also need to overlay the chart with the Average FC Totals from an additional Crosstab report.  Is there a way to overlay this over the 1st layer of the report?

  • Crystal Reports 2008 Some problems

I'm facing few problems with Crystal Reports 2008 :
    1. When you desing a reports that have its page height greater than its width the reports force you to use a Landscape even if you select portrait. this cause problem on most dotmatrix printers as they prints Landscape pages Veritically.
    2. When you design a reports with paper sise A4 and set it to Landscape you cannot drow a box or line that can be longer than the page width or even move it to the right edge or the report.
    3. When you double click on a report to open it with Crystal reports 2008 it bacame busy and you have to Switch to Crystal reports 2 or 3 times before it open the report.
    Thanks

    Hi
This is with reference to your first query:
Printing issues usually depend on the printer drivers; so would suggest you to update the driver to the latest version; For more information related to the Printer.
    http://help.sap.com/businessobject/product_guides/cr2008/en/xir3_cr_usergde_en.pdf.
The issue occurs when width(Horizontal) is greater than height(Vertical).
then it takes the page orientation as Landscape automatically however with Crystal Report Base version it gives the desired output.
Hope this informationis helful to you.
    Regards
    Asha.

  • Crystal Reports 2008 Server Error when viewing report

    Hello All,
I have loaded a CR 2008 report onto the CR 2008 Server. When I view the report from InfoView or CMC, I get the following error message:
Error in File <report name>: Unknown Database Connector Error .
I setup the ODBC datasources on the server as they are on my client PC where the Report originally worked. Are the ODBC datasource connections supposed to copy over with the report? Or do I have to manually enter them into the "Database Configuration" section?
    Thank you in advance.

1212487 - Error: "CRAXDRT Error Occured on Server. Error Number:-2147221005"
    Symptom
A report is called through the Active Server Pages (ASP) Report Server to be displayed in the Report Viewer for ActiveX. However, the report is displayed with blank pages and when the viewer is switched to the Report Viewer for HTML the following error is displayed:
"CRAXDRT Error Occurred on Server. Error Number:-2147221005 Error Description: 006ASP 0177 Server.CreateObject Failed~Invalid Class String"
The same ASP application returns the report correctly when it is called from a client computer with the full version of Crystal Report 8 Developer Edition installed.
    Resolution
It was found that the file, Emfgen.dll, was not installed and registered on the web server computer during the installation of the Crystal Reports ASP Reports Server. The report could be displayed correctly on the client computer, without Crystal Reports Developer Edition installed, after this file had been installed on the web server computer.

  • Landscape Problems with Crystal Reports 2008 SP3

My initial install of Crystal Reports 2008 was SP2 (12.2.0.290).  After installing SP3 and Fix Pack 3.3, I started to experience problems with reports in landscape orientation.
The reports are set up as 11x8.5 in landscape.  They are loaded into a third party application that uses a Crystal Reports reviewer.
For some printers, the reports will reset to the 11x17 page size in portrait.  For others the reports stay at 11x8.5 landscape.
The reports are typically set up with the "No Printer (optimize for screen display)" option active, but I tried a wide range of options including setting the "Microsoft XPS Document Writer" as the reference printer to activating the "Dissociate formatting Page Size and Printer Paper Size" option.  None of this helped.
I backed out FP3.3 and that did not help.  After I backed out SP3, the problem went away.  It seems like something changed in the SP3 release that is causing this issue.
What's the best way to communicate this to SAP?  I would like to see this fixed in a future patch.

Typically the Shift charater sets are reserved characters for names, temp files etc.
    Don't use it.
