Displaying in a main report one field's comma separated values in a subreport

Post Author: shalbert
CA Forum: Formula
I have two database tables Fields and Memfields:
Fields Table
ID
LABEL
1
A
2
B
3
C
4
D
Memfields Table
ID
LABEL
1
B,D
2
C,A
3
A,D
4
A,B
So what I want to do is create a mainreport linking the sub-report by {fields.label} in the main report. So that the main report would look something like what's below. What does the parameter field formula need to look like on the main report to achieve this? I am using CRXI Release 2. Thanks!
A 2 C,A3 A,D4 A,B
B 1 B,D4 A,B
C 2 C,A
D 1 B,D3 A,D

YESSSSS!!!!!! THAT'S IT!!!! Split function is what I need. THANKS A MILLION!! I have used CR for years and never once had i any need for the split function. It's perfect! I am working with MS-SQL database in which reference table records when selected are use to annotate another table field's information, so if you select red and blue records from the color table, for example, on the customer table record for color_type field for instance it will populate that record with red,blue...I think that's so silly the way the vendor designed the front-end instead of creating a relational customer color table with the information...oh well...this is why crystal reports is a godsend for stuff like this. Thanks again for your assistance!

  • Displaying data from a list into a single field with comma separated values

    Hi,
    I have a requirement to change a report with an XML structure (simplified version) as below
    <Protocol>
    <ProtocolNumber>100</ProtocolNumber>
    <SiteName>Baxter Building</SiteName>
    <ListOfActivity>
    <Activity>
    <Description>Communication Memo Description.</Description>
    <Name>James</Name>
    </Activity>
    <Activity>
    <Description>Visit 4</Description>
    <Name>James</Name>
    </Activity>
    <ListOfActivity/>
    </Protocol>
    On the report I need to display all the 'Names' for each of the Child (Activities) in a single field at the Parent (Protocol) level, with each Name separated by a comma.
    How do I go about getting this to work?
    Thanks

    Take a look at this: http://blogs.oracle.com/xmlpublisher/entry/inline_grouping
    You could do this (ofcourse, you will need to add extra logic to ensure that there is no comma added after the last name..)
    <?for-each@inlines:Name?><?.?><?', '?><?end for-each?>

  • Form field with comma delimited value list to cfc

    I have a form that passes a field to an action page with a
    comma delimited value.
    For instance the field name is: Program_ID
    value for program_ID is: 31, 32
    I am able to treat this variable as a list and check its
    length, and loop over the list prior to passing it to a cfc using
    the attached code:
    When I try and pass the variable as a string to a cfc and
    invoke a query, cf no longer recognizes my var as a list.
    Therefore the code attached does not function...
    Is there a specific var type that will pass through as a list
    and allow me to run the code block attached?
    thanks

    Ok answered my own question.. Here is the answer for those
    who are interested...
    initialize var for cfc in cfinvoke statement
    <cfinvokeargument name="Program_ID"
    value="#Form.Program_ID#">
    pass argument to cfc as a string
    <cfargument name="Program_ID" type="string"

    use listqualify to parse list in cfc and set new var
    <cfset selectedProgramID =
    ListQualify(Program_ID,"'",",","CHAR")>
    use the new var in the following statement in sql code:
    ((Program_ID) IN (#PreserveSingleQuotes(selectedProgramID)#))
    The following code handles a form field with a single value
    or a comma delimited value.

  • Resultset of main report passed as parameter to child report stored proc

    Post Author: chicagolad
    CA Forum: Data Connectivity and SQL
    I seem to be in a bind with this issue. I have a main report and sub report. The main report takes in a comma seperated value as a parameter to the stored procedure. The result set of which is used to group 20 sub reports. These subreports use a different stored procedure to which I need to send the group value which is a part of the result set table I get for the main report. Come what may, I am not able to link the main report with the sub report.
    To repeat the question, how do i pass the a result column of the main report as parameter to the sub report stored procedure? Any insight will be much appreciated.
    TIA
    chicagolad

    Raghavendra,
        It seems that no matter what I do, using the parameter ?TagNumber as the item to link from in the main report (Subreport Links) will not give any results no matter which item I link to in the subreport, but if I use the specific data item that the parameter represents, then any of the choices in the lower left "subreport parameter field to use" will work.  So I can simply use the specific data item and everything works fine. It's strange, as last week using the parameter of the main report worked, but as I have a working solution I don't have to resolve that.  (There was data for the parameter value,as I printed the parameter value in the report and the selected value was shown.).
       This is now resolved.  Thanks for your help.

  • How To Suppress Records In Subreport Based on Value in Main Report

    I want to supress records in the Details section of my subreport based on a value in the Details of my Main report (main report could have same record as subreport).
    I created the following formula with a shared variable and placed it in the Details section of my main report:
    WhilePrintingRecords;
    Shared StringVar sCertCode :={ACCPASCERT.CERT_CODE}
    I placed the subeport in the Group Footer of the Main Report.
    In the subreport, in the Section Expert I added the following formula for Supress of the Details section:
    WhilePrintingRecords;
    Shared StringVar sCertCode;
    sCertCode = {ACCJBCERTS.PERS_CODE}
    Unfortunately even though the value in the main report is the same as the value in the subreport, those records are not being suppressed in the subreport.
    Would appreciate any ideas.
    Thanks.

    Thanks Zilla.
    The group is not based on Cert_Code but on another database field.
    I can try linking on the Cert_Code. But, how do you make the link "<" ">" when linking the main report and the subreport. I don't see that as an option?

  • Summary field of subreport used in main report formula calculation

    I have a summary field in a subreport that I want to use in a calculation of a percentage using a second summary field in the main report as the denominator.  How do I do this in a new formula?

    Thank You Ian Waterman,...
    Couple of questions:
    Where you say "... in subreport
    @ eval
    whileprinting records;
    shared number x:=your summary
    Am I correct that this is to be a new formula created in the subreport design?
    What should I put for the "x" in the formula?
    Should the "your summary" be:  "DistinctCount of Activated_Survey.Seq.Incident"  which I have showing in the Report Footer of the subreport?
    Where in the subreport should I place the formula?  Can it be hidden?
    Where you say "In subreport header..."
    @reset
    whileprintingrecords;
    shared number x:=0
    Am I correct that this is to be a new formula created in the subreport design?
    What should I put for the "x" in the formula?
    Where in the subreport should I place the formula?  Can it also be hidden?
    Where you say "In the main report in section after subreport..."
    I have the subreport sitting up in the main Report Header as I only want the subreport summary field showing.
    In the subreport, I have the Report Header and Details section hidden.
    @calc
    whileprintingrecords;
    (shared number x / main report summary) * 100
    Am I correct that this is to be a new formula in the main report?
    However, what I need to have happen is that the main report summary field of: "Count of Answered_Survey.Seq.Incident" needs to be divided by the subreport summary field of "DistinctCount of Activated_Survey.Seq.Incident" * 100.
    What do I modify in the formula?
    Thanks.

  • Use subreport total in formula in main report

    Hi,
    I have a subreport which is a total figure. I just want to muliply this by a number in a field on the main report, can this be done?
    Any help appreciated!

    Symptom
    A report contains a subreport. Data from the subreport is required for calculations in the main report.
    How can you share subreport data with the main report in version 7 (or higher) of the Crystal Reports Designer?
    Resolution
    Shared variables, introduced in Crystal Reports version 7, make it easier to pass values from a subreport to the main report. Using shared variables requires two formulas: one to store the value in a shared variable, the other to retrieve the value from the shared variable.
    The most important thing to remember when using shared variables is that Crystal Reports must first evaluate the formula where the value is stored before evaluating the formula that retrieves the shared variable.
    For example if you want to pass a grand total from the subreport to do a calculation in the main report, follow these steps:
    1. In the subreport, create a formula similar to the one below:
    //@SubFormula
    //Stores the grand total of the
    //{Orders.Order Amount} field
    //in a currency variable called 'myTotal'
    WhilePrintingRecords;
    Shared CurrencyVar myTotal := Sum ({Orders.Order Amount})
    2. Place this formula in your subreport.
    3. In the main report, create a formula that declares the same variable name:
    //@MainFormula
    //Returns the value that was stored
    //in the shared currency variable called
    //myTotal in the subreport
    WhilePrintingRecords;
    Shared CurrencyVar myTotal;
    myTotal
    4. Place @MainFormula in a main report section that is beneath the section containing the subreport.
    NOTE:======
    For the shared variable to return the correct value in the main report, you must place @MainFormula in a main report section that is beneath the section containing the subreport. This ensures Crystal Reports evaluates the @SubFormula before @MainFormula.
    One way to do this is to insert a section below the section containing the subreport, and place @MainFormula in this new sub-section:
    · On the 'Format' menu, click 'Section'.
    · On the 'Sections' list, click the section containing the subreport.
    · Click 'Insert' (at top of dialog box). This inserts an additional subsection.
    · Click 'OK' to return to the report, and insert @MainFormula into this new sub-section.
    The next time you preview the report, @MainFormula displays the value from the subreport. In this particular example, that value was the grand total of the {Orders.Order Amount} field.
    ============
    5. Once you have verified that @MainFormula is returning the correct value from the subreport, you can include this formula in other main report formulas, such as:
    //@NewFormula
    //includes data from subreport
    {@MainFormula}+ Sum ({Customer.Last Year's Sales})
    · Place this formula in the same section as @MainFormula, or in a section further down on the report.
    You have now successfully shared data from a subreport with the main report.
    NOTE: =====
    This is not possible with On Demand Subreports in Crystal Reports.

  • SQ01 query, one field not populating in first line, pushing data to next line

    Good day all
    I have worked with queries for some time and have never encountered this error
    I have a few table joins (FAGLFLEXA, BKPF, BSEG, EKKN, SKAT and EKPO), every thing works and displays correctly, except for the one field
    EKKN (ABLAD) - Unload Point.
    For some reason, when I test the query, it displays correctly with one entry, but as soon as you run the test for more entries, for some reason, the first Unloading point on the report is empty and the value reflects on the next line.  If you display the physical documents where the data pulls from, you can clearly see that the entire report pushes down the field to the next line.
    For example
    Physical SAP Document GL and or PO:
    Year     Per     Do     Document No     Profit     Account     Short Text     Merch     Amount in Grp     Segm     Posted on     Unload Point
    2014     001     XF     40000000000     ABCD     86100       Text              ACD       72799.60             11          20140106      24/59/68
    2014     001     XD     40000000001     ABCC     86100       Text              ACC       18755.50             11          20140108      26/00/48
    SQ01 report (with one line)
    Year     Per     Do     Document No     Profit     Account     Short Text     Merch     Amount in Grp     Segm     Posted on     Unload Point
    2014     001     XF     40000000000     ABCD     86100       Text              ACD       72799.60             11          20140106      24/59/68
    SQ01 report (with more lines)
    Year     Per     Do     Document No     Profit     Account     Short Text     Merch     Amount in Grp     Segm     Posted on     Unload Point
    2014     001     XF     40000000000     ABCD     86100       Text              ACD       72799.60             11          20140106      2014     001     XD     40000000001     ABCC     86100       Text              ACC       18755.50             11          20140108      24/59/68

    I found the error!  The query was written in a certain format.  For example it had many fields which was used to populate the data from different tables.  The error occured because of the sequence.  The query had to bring in a field but it had to derive it from a purchase order, but the purchase order check was after the said field therefor, when it looked at the Purchase Order, it found the field and populated it, but only on the second line.  In the first line it couldnt find the Purchase order yet (as EKKO was lower down), so it didnt populate it yet....

    Is there a way to just share values out of subreports.
    The reason I ask is that I am having problems pulling the correct information in one subreport so I'd like to use 2 subreports to pull out Billable hours on one and Billed Hours on another and then add them together to display on the main report.

    Post Author: Jedit

    Yep there is!
    In your sub report
    I the formula editor create a shared variable then create the same variable in your main report.
    EG
    IN your SUB
    Create new formular called tothrs etcu2026..
    whileprinting records;
    shared numbervar tothrs: sum({table.fieldname}&#93;
    In Your Main Report
    whileprinting records;
    shared numbervar tothrs
    this passes the value from your sub to the main, check help for different types of format as the one above is only for a number there are others for time & date etc..
    hope this helps!
    I have been doing a similar exercise myself but got stuck summing the parameter values in my main report, if you solve this let me know?

  • How To Pass Data Between A Main Report and a Subreport

    Hello,
      I'm working with Crystal Reports Professional XI.
      I have a main report with two date parameters: BeginDate of Date type and EndDate of Data type.  The main report has no details being printed instead it's grouped by a formula field and displays a summary count at the group footer.  I have  a subreport that is not linkable to the main report.  The subreport is grouped differently.  It has no detail records being printed and displays a summary count at the group footer as well.  The two reports are using the same tables with the same linking relationship.
       I created the same two date parameters in the subreport but this isn't right because when I run the report then I get four Date prompts: BeginDate and EndDate parameter from the main report and the BeginDate and EndDate parameter from the subreport.
      I'm not dong something right here.  What do I need to change in the reports so that l have the same record selecton being passed from the main report to the subreport record selection based on the BeginDate parameter and the End Date parameter from the main report?  Right now, the subreport is selecting all the records in the tables specified.
      Have a great day.  Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Ting

    Hi Jason,
       Thanks for replying to my posting.  It's been awhile since I've worked on Crystal Reports so I'm getting reacquainted with sub-reports again.
        By linking the main report to the subreport by the BeginDate and BeginEnd parameters, will the date parameters be passed from the main report to the record selection for the subreport?
       Also by doing your approach when the user is prompted to run the report, will it display on the popup window four date parameters: the BeginDate and EndDate from the main report and underneath that the BeginDate and EndDate from the sub report?  If so I'm trying to avoid that because it would be the same date range that I'm wanting to use for the main report and the subreport.
        I hope that made sense.
    Thanks,
    Ting

  • Dynamically Set Subreport Background Color to the Same Value as Main Report Background Color

    I have a report that contains a subreport.  The main report has groupings in it.  I am dynamically setting the background color of the group rows based on an expression.  That part is working fine.  The problem that I am having is that
    I don't know how to get the subreport to "inherit" the background color of the grouping that holds it.
    Basically, I have different row shadings on my report differentiating the groupings except for the rows where the subreport shows.
    How do I go about setting the subreport background color to equal it's contaiing grouping's background color?  Thanks in advance for any and all assistance provided.

    The parameter method given by gpshukla will send the info to the subreport, but you don't need the color parameter in the main report, only the subreport. The trick is in setting the value of that parameter.
    Right-click the cell with the embedded subreport, you can select subreport properties.
    Select Parameters and add a parameter.
    The name column is the name of the parameter in the subreport (color) and value is the value to set it to.
    Set name to "color" (no quotes).
    Set Value to the same expression used to set the background color for the row.
    In the subreport, click the design surface to select the report (not header or footer).
    In the properties pane, select background color and choose expression from the dropdown.
    Type =Parameters!color.Value into the expression builder.
    This will work assuming that background color in the main report row will not change without also refreshing the subreport.
