Distribute JDBC driver with our application
we are not an oracle customer, but we develop an application that has a component that leverages the JDBC driver to connect to the Oracle database. is it ok to distribute the JDBC driver with this application component? i don't see anything in the licensing policy that prevents us from doing so. do we need to be a member of the oracle partner network at a certain level?
thx.

You were REQUIRED to accept the license agreement prior to downloading the JDBC driver software. It is expected that you will actually READ the license agreement prior to accepting it.
Oracle Database 12c Release 1 JDBC Driver Downloads
You must accept the OTN License Agreement to download this software.
That license agreement CLEARLY answers your question so you should re-read it. You are bound by ALL of the terms but this is copied directly from that link:
License Rights
We grant you a nonexclusive, nontransferable limited license to use the programs: (a) for purposes of developing, testing, prototyping and running applications you have developed for your own internal data processing operations; (b) to distribute the programs with applications you have developed to your customers provided that each such licensee agrees to license terms consistent with the terms of this Agreement, you do not charge your end users any additional fees for the use of the programs, and your end users may only use the programs to run your applications for their own business operations; and (c) to use the programs to provide third party demonstrations and training. You are not permitted to use the programs for any purpose other than as permitted under this Agreement. If you want to use the programs for any purpose other than as expressly permitted under this agreement you must contact us, or an Oracle reseller, to obtain the appropriate license. We may audit your use and distribution of the programs. Program documentation is either shipped with the programs, or documentation may accessed online at http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/indexes/documentation/index.html.
Item (b) above begins with 'to distribute the programs . . .'
Yes - you can distribute the JDBC driver as long as you abide by that license agreement in its entirety (not just the quote I provided).
Any and all questions need to be directed to Oracle as noted in the License Agreement. No one on the forums can speak for Oracle.

How to integrate Oracle Right Now with our application Calling Button and Chat Button. Application is on WebCenter Sites
Thanks handar. As per your instructions I have tried OAM authorization policy and its working fine. But we also wants to check the same with OES also. Currently I have configure weblogic SM and created domain. In same domain I have deployed my application also. I have created application, resources and authorization policy to authorize /myfolder/index.jsp if user has some specific role. Now if I try to access my web application using http://host:8001/CONTEXT/myfolder/index.jsp, it doesn't check if user is authorized or not. I guess my application is not related to the resource I have created. Please help me with this. Also, let me know if we can retirive logged in user from session and use for authorization.

Including org.gjt.mm.mysql.Driver with my application
So, lets say I have a Java program that connects to an SQL server and it runs fine on my machine. I have all the nessicarry classpath's and Connector/J properly installed. But, when I run it on a client machine I get:
java.lang.ClassNotFoundException: org.gjt.mm.mysql.DriverNow, I can solve this issue by putting the Connector/J onto their computer but, I'm wondering if there's a way to package the application and the driver so that anyone can run it without having to install Connector/J manually.
Any help would be much appreciated.
Thanks!JonasWon wrote:

That's the old, deprecated JDBC driver class name.

Thanks!"install" it manually? Nobody "installs" a 3rd party JAR. These aren't quite DLLs.
I'll assume your app is a desktop deployment. Package it into an executable JAR, add the Connector/J JAR to the Classpath in the manifest, and zip that JAR up with the Connector/J JAR. Your users will just unzip the ZIP file and execute the JAR.

Problem using JDBC driver with JSP
Hi, I am trying to connecto to my mysql server via a JSP page, but it seems that there is a problem with the driver call or something in my configuration that unables me to connect. I have the mysql-connector-java-3.0.7-stable driver.
This is how my classpath looks like:
CLASSPATH=/home/hooper/Sources/mysql-connector-java-4.0.7-stable/lib:/home/hooper/Sources/mysql-connector-java-3.0.7-stable/com:/home/hooper/Sources/mysql-connector-java-3.0.7-stable/mysql-connector-java-3.0.7-stable-bin.jar:/usr/java/j2sdk1.4.1_02:.:/usr/java/j2sdk1.4.1_02/lib/tools.jar:/usr/java/j2sdk1.4.1_02
And this is my JSP page code:
<%@ page language="java" import= "java.sql.*"%>
<%
Connection con = null;
String userName = "hooper";
String password = ""; //No password
String url = "jdbc:mysql://localhost/test";
//Load the Driver class file
Class.forName("com.mysql.jdbc.Driver");
//Make a connection to the MySQL database
con = DriverManager.getConnection (url, userName, password);
out.println ("Database connection established");
if (con != null){
//Close the connection
con.close();
%>
And this is the error I get from Tomcat4.1.18:
HTTP Status 500 -
type Exception report
message
description The server encountered an internal error () that prevented it from fulfilling this request.
exception
org.apache.jasper.JasperException: com.mysql.jdbc.Driver
root cause

I hope someone can help me with this.
Thanks,
LuisHi..
Try using this way
String userName = "hooper";
String password = ""; //No password
String url = "jdbc:mysql://localhost:3306/test";
Class.forName("org.gjt.mm.mysql.Driver");
try to download the driver for mysql and add it to your classpath
Hope this works

Oracle Jdbc tracing is not avaliable in a non-debug zip/jar file
SQLException: SQLState(42000) vendor code(942)
MagicDraw support has suggested that I use jar or zip that provides debug capability. Where can I find such a driver?In the Downloads section, there are the regular JDBC drivers (i.e. ojdbc14.zip) and the debug JDBC drivers (i.e. ojdbc14_g.zip).

How to register jdbc driver in java application
Using Java Studio Enterprise:
1. Add mssqlserver.jar to Libraries.
2. jar contains package: com.microsoft.jdbc.sqlserver,
package contains SQLServerDriver.class
Trying to register this driver in program with:
Class.forName("com.microsoft.jdbc.SQLServerDriver");
raises exception ClassNotFoundException
Maybe I should put mssqlserver.jar to specific folder?
For web application using same driver works fine.hi,
Class.forName("com.microsoft.jdbc.SQLServerDriver");

ODBC Driver with VC++ Application
Problem description.
For example if we are reading the EMP table with the following SQL,
select * from emp order by empno;
Step 1: We are reading the EMPNO = 7369 (1st Record)
Column COMM value read will be NULL
Step 2: After that when we read EMPNO = 7499 (2nd record)
Column COMM value read will be 300
Step 3: After that when we read EMPNO = 7521 (3rd record)
Column COMM value read will be 500
Step 4: After that when we read EMPNO = 7566 (4th record)
Column COMM value read will be 500 even though there is no value for COMM in the table.
Please note that we will not be able to change the Application code for this problem resolution.
We request you to give us some solution ASAP.
Should you have doubts in the information sent by us, please do revert back for clarifications.Dear Justin,

Distribute SQLite-DB with AIR Application?
Hi!
Is it possible to distribute an SQLite-DB along with an AIR
Application? By distribute I mean passing along a premade database
instead of creating it with code at application startup. Don't want
to run alot of CREATE TABLE and such at startup, even if it should
only occur once.
Thanks!I just discovered this developer's github page yesterday and perhaps his air_amf_sync project may be beneficial to you.
https://github.com/dima/air_amf_sync
Let us know on your outcome. -
i have used type 2 driver for connectin to my SQL Server. Its working fine with normal java program. but when i used the same driver in my servlet its returning null pointer exception. i.e. Connection is null
here is the code i have used:
Class.forName("sun.jdbc.odbc.JdbcOdbcDriver");
Connection conn =DriverManager.getConnection("jdbc:odbc:mydsn",
"username",
"password");That is THE type 1 driver by the way.
Anyway who knows. Have you considered using a type 4 (pure Java driver) instead? There are several available that work with SQL server including one from microsoft (not recommended) and one from sourceforge http://jtds.sourceforge.net/ (recommended)
I would strongly consider using a type 4 driver instead because the problem likely has something to do with it can't find the DSN or the bridge is not available on your servlet platform etc etc
FInally if your connection is null it suggests that you are swallowing an exception somewhere because DriverManager.getConnection will throw an exception if it can't connect (which appears to be the case). -

What would be the setup you are seeking...
- something for individual people who have Acrobat on their desktop and your app too?
- something for a server?
- something royalty free to distribute with your app, no Acrobat needed?
- something for Adobe Reader?

Oracle ODBC driver with Access Application
I get a problem when using MS-Access 2007 DAO recordset built on table hosted by an Oracle database 10g and connected thru ODBC
The table scheme is :
idPartenaire : number(11)
libelle : varchar2(250)
code : varchar2(5)
actif : number(1)
idCollege :numner(11)
idPartenaire is generated by a sequence read in a trigger fired before insert on th table.
The code I use in Access is :
The query associated with the form is :
"select * from table1"
and the event procedure connected to a button on the form is :
Private Sub Commande0_Click()
Dim rs As DAO.Recordset
Me.Recordset.AddNew
Me.Recordset!libelle = CStr(Rnd) ' some value
Me.Recordset!code = “”
Me.Recordset!actif = -1
Me.Recordset!idCollege = 1
Me.Recordset.Update
Me.Recordset.Bookmark = Me.Recordset.LastModified
Dim idtemp As Long
idtemp = Me.Recordset.idPartenaire
Me.Requery
Me.Recordset.FindFirst "idPartenaire = " & idtemp
Set rs = Nothing
End Sub
When I run this code, I get an error 3167 (current record is deleted) on the line :
idtemp = Me.Recordset.idPartenaire
If I change the ligne :
Me.Recordset!code = “”
By :
Me.Recordset!code = “xxxx”
or if I comment this line, the error does not appear and I get the right value in idtemp variable.
I tried also with the same table in a SQL Server database table. In this case it works fine in all cases.
So, I seems that the problem is due to the Oracle ODBC driver. I tried with different versions of Oracle ODBC drivers (v10.0.2.4, v11.1.6)
I search on Internet but I have not found any explanation or solution.
Does anybody experiment the same problem (and find a solution)?
Gilles Roussel.The two lines you quote aren't errors, they're warnings and they're pretty standard fare. If there isn't anything else in the ODBC log, then the driver isn't returning any errors. I'm not sure why Access is failing, so let's look at the client configuration first.
- I assume you've successfully installed the 8.1.6 client on the machine with Access. Were there any errors during the install?
- You say you're using the 8.1.6 version of the Oracle ODBC driver-- can you look to see what the last digit of the version is? If possible, I'd start by downloading the most recent 8.1.6.x ODBC driver from OTN.
- Check which version of the MDAC you have installed (new versions & a version checker are available from Microsoft at <http://www.microsoft.com/data>.
- The ODBC driver you download above will list which versions of the MDAC it is expected to work with. Make sure your version is one of the listed versions.

Issues while configuring java application using JDO with MS JDBC Driver 1.0
We are in the process of configuring our java application with the production version of SQL Server 2005 Java Database Connectivity (JDBC) Driver 1.0. We are facing issues getting it to work with Sun App Server using JDO concept.
After creating the data store, adding the JDBC driver to the application server classpath through console and also copying the driver into the lib directory, we are still getting the below error.
Following is the stack trace encountered while running the application

Regards,
BinduI have already tried this before and this not work too, but strange that even if I use JDBC:ODBC bridge driver, the return value for output parameters are not correct, that is, only return the value that I input but not the value after executed in the procedure....
The code that I used with JDBC:ODBC bridge is as follow:
public static void main(String[] args) {
String url = "jdbc:odbc:;DRIVER=SQL Server;Persist Security Info=False;database=db;Server=sql;uid=sa;pwd=pwd";
Connection con;
ResultSet rs = null;
CallableStatement callS = null;
try {
Class.forName("sun.jdbc.odbc.JdbcOdbcDriver");
} catch(java.lang.ClassNotFoundException e) {
System.err.print("ClassNotFoundException: ");
System.err.println(e.getMessage());
try {
con=DriverManager.getConnection(url);
callS = con.prepareCall("{ call dbo.CpJavaTest (?)}");
callS.registerOutParameter(1, Types.INTEGER);
callS.execute();
rs=callS.getResultSet();
int ret = callS.getInt(1);
System.out.println("return value : " + ret);
while (rs.next()) {
String f1 = rs.getString(4);
String f2 = rs.getString(5);
System.out.println(f1 + " " + f2);
} catch(SQLException ex) {
System.out.println("SQLException: " + ex.getMessage());
The value of the output parameter is same as what I inputed! Hope any one can teach me how to correct it...
Thank you very much! -
