Distributing WebI reports to BO inbox Destinations via 'Send To' Feature

I'm on BOE XI3.1 and I need to allow users to distribute WebI reports from their favorites to other user BO inboxes via the 'Send To' feature. All works fine but the sent reports doesn't get delivered to the selected destination. It ends up in the Temporary Storage with a 'failed' status
ie. recipient error. [[CrystalEnterprise.Managed] ([1]/[1])]: [bobj1]
I followed the instructions from this forum thread granting the user rights specified but without success

Is there documented notes on how to grant the correct user/oject rights to enable this functionality to work? My users only have 'View on Demand' to public folders. A user with Administrator rights can send reports to inboxes without any problems.

I finally resolved the problem by granting access to the Everyone group of the ALL INBOXES top-level security as follow:
- grant View access for objects (this was the kicker)
- add rights to Content / Web Intelligence Report / Add Objects to the Folder

Is there any way I can write out a webi report to a ftp or SMTP destination in an encrypted format ?
I can schedule the report and send it to a ftp destination but I don't know if that report can be in an encrypted format ?

what do you want to encrypt ? The Report as itself or the communication to ysour destination (f.e. sFTP) ?!
sFTP is not a supported feature...yet. But there is a Workarround on how to use sFTP. Check the Articles of BOE XI R2 here on SDN. You should find the PDF on how to do that. Its compareable to XI 3.x
If you want to encrypt the Report as itself there is no feature from BO on how to do that.
There are already some ADAPT cases opend for enhancment of sFTP in further releases.

here im got stopped how to schedule the report from bw data source . i have to schedule in webi infoview how to give date format in universe the report sholud run for (sysdate-2) daily
eg. today is 02-DEC-2011 if i schedule the report it should run for 30-NOV-2011. iam trying in both BW qyuery and CUBE im not getting how to give date format in

it is resolvede by keeping sysdate-2 variable at bw query side i have solved my issue.

Schedule a webi report to email issue

Hi,
A webi report was scheduled to run and send exel file to email one time. The instance is in a status of "Running" for more than 24 hours. When checked the instance details, it said "waiting for scheduling to complete. Job ID: 15,786, name:[Report Name], kind:Webi in Pending state (FBE 60509) [0 recipients processed.]". After a day passed, the schedule failed. And in the Publication Admin Log, it said

I don't know why it failed. Is there any option needed to be set such as timeout?
All destinations have been set and enabled. Have restarted and reenabled could not help. A webi report run interactively fine.
We are on version:
BusinessObjects Edge BI 3.1 SP4
Windows Server 2008 R2
SQL Server 2008 R2

Most likely this problem would be caused by:
1. Wrongly configured email destinations on the Destination Job Server, Webi Job Server and Publication Job Server - you can check in the CMC - Servers area.
2. The source report - check it can be refreshed ok, it could be there are objects which Business Objects does not like. Test by removing fields and rescheduling to see if you can identify which field is causing problems.
3. Also try resaving the source report under a different name and rebuild the publication with this report. Some older reports can become "corrupt", resaving\refreshing can help.
4. Check to see if the source report has any recurrences set, it could be there is an issue with the Job Server waiting fopr a recurrence to run.

Give it a shot with BO Publication. You can send the reports to different email dynamically based on contents. Not sure, if this works for the blank values!

Create webi reports with predefined filters

Hi,
We have following requirement. We need to create 3 webi reports for following requirement and then send the reports as excel to the users
YTD-
Posting start date u2013 1st day of the year - End date u2013 last day of the month
QTD-
Posting start date u2013 1st day of the qtr - End date u2013 last day of the month
MTD-
Posting start date u2013 1st day of the month - End date u2013 last day of the month
Earlier we were using one BEx query to have these requirements filled where users can filter data monthwise or quarterwise but now since they want the reports to be emailed we need to have 3 different reports. What is the best way to achieve this requirement?

Hi Nancy,
You can create 3 tabs in one report, and schedule it as excel to be emailed to them. I assume there is a universe, in which case you create the predefined date filters there and then pull them into the report queries. Or you could have just one query and put different date filters within each tab - in the report and not necessarily in the universe.
Is that what you are trying to do, or do you want the user to enter the date parameters? In that case you can create prompts either in the universe or the report.

Schedule webi report to destination to Inbox AND send email notification

I'm writing a new process that will schedule a webi report. The output of the report needs to be delivered to multiple user's BO Inboxes AND an email notification (without the report attached) needs to be sent telling them that they have a new report to view in their Inbox. Trying to mimic how this is done via CMC Schedule - Notification and Destination tabs.
I can get it to deliver the report to the Inbox and I can get it to send an email seperately, but the problem I'm running into is that I can't get it to do both in the same process. Here is the code snippet that I've written. Any assistance would be appreciated.

One thing to keep in mind is that "scheduling to SMTP" is different from "scheduling with email notification", and it looks like you're conflating the two. The ISchedulingInfo.getDestinations() is the access point for scheduling to SMTP and ISchedulingINfo.getNotifications() is the access point for scheduling with Notification.

You'd add the SI_PROGID of the SMTP Destination here, and work with the returned IDestination to set the destination parameters.

Schedule XI3.0 Webi report to Inbox

my customer schedules a simple Webi report to Inbox and it fails with the error;
"login error. [Internal error: Unable to initialize the session manager.]: [CrystalEnterprise.Managed]
Are there any rights that need to be added to the Adaptive Job Server to "enable" this functionality?
I checked the user account boadmin (Business Objects Administrator) is used to start the BO software and owns the processesu2026
Directory permissions for /export/home/boadmin/bobje/data/procSched/cgsmprpt01.AdaptiveJobServer read, write and execute for boadmin
All other schedules work fine.
Installation is Solaris10, XI3.0 unpatched.
TRACE log reads;
(false : Failed to initialize the session manager object successfully m_sessionManager).
[Wed Oct 7 09:56:25 2009]     1353     14274     assert failure: (../ocaframework/ServiceMgrFactory.cpp:94). ((s_svcMgr != NULL) : s_svcMgr shouldn't be null when release).

Hi Prashant,
The users have the "Schedule to Destination" rights and the Destination plugin is configured\enabled on the Adaptive Job Server.
The problem seems to be with the Adaptive Job Server, logging in and\or launching the Session Manager, but only when the Destination is Inbox.
I know that the Adaptive Job Server can request the report from the Input File Repository Server then connect to the database to retrieve datau2026finally copy the report to Output FRSu2026however whichever service\subcomponent is responsible for then copying it to the users Inbox canu2019t do sou2026 I assume the users Inbox is actually a meta data configuration which is held in the CMS configured databaseu2026 so it must be inserting\updating a record somewhere which it canu2019t do for some reason.
Do you have any ideas on gathering further information on the Session Manager?

Open Webi reports via xcelsius

I want to open webi report using URL BUTTON via xcelsius dashboard.
I genereted webi report url. and I tested it on borwser(explorer and firefox). ther was no problem, I can see webi report.
But When I used url button on xcelsius dashboard; first came bobje login page, After I İnput my logon info. ooops
seem below eror message.
An error has occurred: An error occured while trying to view the document
What is the problem? Anybody can help me, please.

Scheduling webi reports via Java SDK in BI 4.1

Hi,
Has anyone been able to schedule a Webi report containing date prompts via Java SDK in BI 4.1? I have tried doing so but it doesn't work when date prompts are involved, I get the exception raised: java.lang.NullPointerException error. Though the scheduled instance is created and the date prompt appears to be correctly populated the report fails with the above mentioned error message. The code is working for other text prompts but fails when I have a date prompt in the report. I am using the populateWebiPrompts() method to populate the prompts.

Try adding the following line in your code before scheduling:
iWebi.setUserInputLocaleName(documentInstance.getProperties().getProperty(PropertiesType.BASE_LOCALE));
Also as an FYI, please refer below details.
For scheduling webi reports with prompts, the only supported way is to use Restful webservices SDKs.
The feature of scheduling a webi report with prompts were deprected from release BI 4.x and introduced in the new restfull webservices. Restful is the future which SAP is focussing and would be great to have your application on supported terms with SAP.

No variable Screen when accessing web reports via "New analysis" button

Hello !
I need some help or explanation :
I'm on a web report (Java) and i want to access another report.
I click on the "new analysis" button on the top, then i open the "roles" folder and select a report.
The new report start but without the prompt screen with the variable selection.
I also saw that the URL shown on Internet explorer is the old one (not the new querie URL)
This is the same problem with all my queries when accessing them via the "new analysis" menu.
Why is this screen squeezed ?
I need to have these variable entries !
I've tried some modification on 0ANALYSIS_PATTERN .... (porperties / variable) = no effect

I would recommend to let your SAP Basis guys do a security trace on the SAP BW side and see if some authorization check for the user fails when trying to fetch data over the universe.

Displaying WebI report parts via openDocument in BI 4.1 SP 3 Update

1) We are using SAP BO 4.1 SP3 Update version.
2) We have a requirement to display PARTS of webi report which has prompts as well.
3) We referred the Opendocument PDF and used the below functionality to get what we need:
sRefresh=Y&mode=part&sReportPart=UIREF:RID=1:BID=1
The problem with this is we have a Prompt X which has a value say A B C.
So our final URL would be:
http://[servername]:[port]/BOE/OpenDocument/opendoc/openDocument.jsp?sIDType=CUID&iDocID=[CUID of WebI doc]&lsSX=A B C&mode=part&sReportPart=[Reference to the report part to be shown].
4) Our problem is that if we pass parameters in Prompt X which has a SPACE (Like we have in A B C) the functionality goes for a toss. Also if we pass Dates like 01/01/2012-12/31/2012, the function doesnt work.
5) This is the problem with VIEWING PARTS OF WEBI report only. Works fine if we wanna view full report.
6) Is it a known issue ?

For special characters like space, colon you have to use ASCII characters in URL. For e.g. if you want to write prompt as

Drill in Webi reports via Java SDK

Hi!
Is it possible to programatically drill up\down in Webi reports? I'm looking throught RE documentation - there are interfeces providing drill functionality (DrillInfo etc). But I can't understand how I can drill in InfoObject instance or may be I can schedule a report with a drill on?
I need to create a code that will create the instance of docement with drill by some dimensions..

Passing a parameter to a BW Web Report via a URL

I have a BW Web Report that has a selection screen that allows a project to be selected.
I would like to call the report passing the project as a variable, automatically populate the selection screen field and execute the report.

You have to add the &FILTER_IOBJNM=0COUNTRY (Filter Object: InfoObject for the project and the value &FILTER_VALUE=DE.
