Distribution of properties in several projects.

I have multiple projects defined.
In one of them (let's name it project A), I defined a set of property files containing base level properties. I like to have these separate, so I only have to define them once.
In another project (project B), I have a bunch of substantive rules. There are intermediate properties that have to be defined for those rules, so I have a property file in project B.
I have rules about some entity, that have intermediate properties about an entity. There is a relation defined for that entity in project A. Do I have to declare the entity in project B as well, for I like to keep the intermediate property in project B.
Does this way of structuring data into several modules make sence?
If so, how can I add properties to an entity (which is defined in project A) in project B ?
If not, how should I structure my data?

This is what I got, but seemed like its missing the mischart.dll file and the BW system is 3.1. So this is likely the case of Win32 IGS not installed? Moreover the charts generated are always in vertical columns.

JSC 2.1 ignores path properties in nbproject/project.properties ?

Hi,
I have to import a Netbeans 5.0 project into JSC 2.1 in order to use the JSF UI designer. The project has the Java BluePrints source structure with all folders external to the Netbeans project folder (because it was created with other tools in the past). It is a mix of legacy servlets, plain JSP and JSF pages.
In Netbeans it was no problem to import the source tree by using the option "Web Application with Existing sources" from the project wizard and tweaking the pathes in nbproject/project.properties. In JSC this option does not exist. Also I cannot just move all the sources into a standard JSC project folder since it is a large project in a CVS repository. Also I cannot use softlinks since some people work on the project using Windows and some use Linux.
So I tried to edit the path settings in nbproject/project.properties manually. Here are the relevant lines I changed from a default JSF project created by the JSC wizard I used to manually import the project into JSC:

[catch] ... 67 moreWhen I look into the files view of the project I see that JSC recognizes the classes in the external source packages folder like Netbeans would. But it creates at the same time a non-existing folder named src below the JSC project folder which contaings an empty folder named "jsctest" (the default package name I selected for page beans).
So it seems some part of JSC (the web designer?) ignores the path settings in nbproject/project.properties while others (the code from NB4.1?) does not. When I move all project sources into the JSC project folder in their standard location it works but as I wrote above doing that is not an option because CVS etc..
Or do I have to set some additonal properties in the project for the designer? Or is there any other way to import such a legacy project to create new JSF pages with the designer (we cannot change all servlets / pages at once).
Or is it just a bug in JSC 2.1 I should report? Or is it a unsupported feature JSC will never support?

Unfortunately, as I described in my inital posting, it is not possible for me to do a refactoring of the source structure in Netbeans because the project is based on a CVS repository and I cannot change the pathes there for several reasons. The web folder and sources folder are outside of the Netbeans project folder anyway. I just thouhgt that JSC would read the pathes from the project.properties file like Netbeans but that doesn't seem to be the case.
I guess we have to wait for the next JSC version or check out other options.

Reports for several projects

Hi,
I developed some reports to show the distribution of resources against duration. Previously, I used the output as ASCII text file and then make an Excel spreadsheet / histogram with the results.
Scenario is:
1- I have several projects which I want to report the distro. of resources on
2- I want to show the distro. of qty. against duration sorted by projects in the same report, i.e. currently the units are shown as 1 single row / month summed for all open projects
Is it possible?

In P6, Under Reports, I look under the "Open Projects" heading, and then "Resource Usage", I start with the canned report RL-06. This is a weekly report, but you only need to adjust the timescale to show daily instead of weekly. In the Report Wizard, not Report Editor, Under the "Group and Sort" Button, it should give you the option to group by "Project" (no "S"). This should fix your issue.

Update several project files based in one project

I have several projects, one for each application in the same

Hi garcia3000 and welcome to the RH community.
There is no way to automatically update the other projects
with the amended central project. If you use merged projects you
could merge the central project into the other project's TOC.
However this stores a local copy of the central project in the
project's baggage folder. If the central project is amended, you'll
have to re-add the amended CHM to the baggage files folder.

Using several projects in one show

1. Hi, how can I use several projects, organized together as a one 40-min long show?
2. I need a way to make a 40min show of great photos, that i'm going to have on my iPad and show with a video HD projector on a wall. Is iMovie the easiest tool for this?

1. In iMovie one can not easily combine projects. One must do a work around.
• Export Each project out as Full Quality QuickTime .mov
• Import them into Event's
• Start a new Project and use the new Event's
2. No idea - way out of reach for me.

I have one folder with several projects all of which Aperure can not find the original. I do not use referenced files. I can't make any adjustments like cropping etc. What can I do to print any of these photos?

Have you checked inside your Aperture library, if the original files are still there?
Try to find out, when the images in those projects have been originally imported, then open the Aperture library by ctrl-clicking it and using the command "Show package contents" from the pop-up menu. In the window that will open, select the folder "Masters" and browse the contents. You need to find the subfolder with the year you imported the images, then the folders with the month and the day.
Are your original files still there?
If yes, copy them to a folder on your desktop for safe-keeping, and then try, if repairing the permissions and the other Furst Aid tools will help Aperture to connect to these missing files again - see this link: Repairing and Rebuilding Your Aperture Library: Aperture 3 User Manual
If the First Aid Tools don't help, then check, if Aperture has moved the missing images to a "recovered folder". If not, reimport the images, you saved to your Desktop and use the Lift&Stamp tool to transfer any adjustment and captions to your reimported images.

Requirements grouping across several projects

We have a case where raw material requirements across several projects , have to be grouped together and MRP has to be run for genarating PRs.
1. What are the transactional steps involved?(A brief desc would do)
2. What are the config steps involved ? ( a brief desc would do)
3. Does someone has an example in the form of business process procedure ? Can it be shared with me (email ID : [email protected])
4. Which MRP needs to be run ? (PP-MRP / MM-MRP)

I have selected automatic grouping and grouping wbs is set to 2 in prj A1.

I have created a grouping wbs with automatic grouping and grouping wbs is set to 2 in prj-A
I have been able to assign the wbss to grouping wbs using GRM3.
When I run MD51 , it says " no elements exist for this selection" and "no reservations relevant for MRP exist for the project".
What could be wrong in the settings?

Share/Export/Publish several projects sequentially?

I have created several projects or movies in my iMovie '07 (iLife '08) Project Library. I would like to share or publish or export them to the Media Browser. Is there a way to publish all of them one after the other or do I need to wait until iMovie publishes one project before telling it to publish the next? I was hoping to let iMovie run overnight and find all my projects published the next morning.

Media Manager - "batching" several projects possible??

Anyone have a solution to "batch" several FCP projects with Media Manager.. I have several editors who are in need to move many large projects off the Xsan on to external drives for archive.
Because it takes so long to Media Manage each project, I'm looking for a way to "batch" several projects over the weekend.. Hoping for a "set it and forget it" work flow!!

regardless of whether you figure out how to do the "batch," I hope you realize that you need to confirm the success of the media manage. A few things that can (but don't necessarily) cause problems, multiclips, nests, imported digital files (as opposed to files brought in using log and transfer and log and capture). Over the years, I've seen fewer and fewer problems, but forewarned is forearmed. Just did a media manage of a 4 minute sequence and there was a problem with one audio file from a collapsed multiclip.

One Book from Several Projects?

I want to make one Aperture 3 book from the images that are in several projects. How can I do that?

I have just updated to Final Cut Pro 10.1.4 - I have updated Projects and Events on my external hard drives (off the File menu). It's says under several project 'missing file' - but they were all there working fine before I updated.

After the update each seperate connected drive should now have a seperate Library.
The older Projects and Events folders would have to be at the top level of those drives go be seen and updated.
Were all the necessary Projects and Events in the corrrct place before updating?

works just fine for one project, but does not allow to share the configuration between several projects. Would there be anyway to get the ruleset as an artifact or in a jar, or to share it between several projects in any other way ?

Would it be possible to have 2 shared resources, one local containing all common topics and pictures for several projects, and another one remote containing all topics and pictures for collaboration purposes

I was wondering, now that I discovered the advantages of Resource Manger, if it would be possible to have 2 shared resources, one local with common topics and pictures for several projects, and another one, remote, containing the whole projects, i.e. topics and pictures, for collaboration purposes.
The local one I intend to use it for my purposes to have common items (topics & pictures) updated in all projects where they appear, and the remote one I intend to use it together with my remote colleagues that might want to do changes in the topics.
This would mean that the common topics and pictures would be present in both resources, the local one as well as the remote one.

I was merely wondering if it would be possible w/o having to use other products outside RoboHelp.
We are already using svn for a lot of other purposes and we are using that for the RoboHelp projects as well, however I was wondering if it would not be possible to have RoboHelp take care of the RoboHelp projects, and with svn to take care of the other things in the company.
Eventually, if it would be possible, I would think to sync all the local projects with the remote projects, then sync the local project with the local shared resources, and at the end sync the rest of the projects with the local shared resources.

Unable to change window properties after upgrading project from X5 to RH8

Hi,
I just upgraded an existing project from X5 to RH8. In Windows Properties (HTML Help), if I make any changes and click OK, I receive the following message:
"For Width field please enter a value between 65 and 24."
If I do enter a value within those parameters in any of the "Width" options on the Properties page, I'm still presented with the same error message.
How can this be corrected?

Perhaps try creating a totally new window definition and configuring the parameters as desired.
Once in a blue moon we see that the window definition somehow becomes corrupt.

Setting up development environment with several projects

We struggle with Workshop when having a large workshop application. One way of getting out of this issue was to use several deployments and to use WSRP as a mechanism to get resources from several deployed portlet applications. Performance isn't an issue for our deployment.
This setup might help us with having smaller Workshop applications and making the development environment more efficient, but we see some issues with this.
- Framework package
How should we handle the framework part with CSS files. Duplicating these framework files is not a good solution since some developers most certainly will forget to update all framework files when editing them.
- Portal Administration
Can we just drop the portal administration web app in the most of the workshop application?
- Data project
We use a custom UUP. How should this be handled when splitting the workshop application into several smaller applications?

I used this for a little different purpose; we wanted to generate the whole development environment at one mouse click (formsweb.cfg, reports server etc.); as we used ANT for creating the svn local working copy for each developer we used ANT for this. but you can also use perl or bash :D.
I'd create one template, then loop through all directorys and append the configs to a temp file
/var
/you
/not_you=> create one config section named as the folder in the temp file basing on your template.
in your real formsweb.cfg you might append a line like
# THE DEVELOPER CONFIGS STARTS HERE
after that you locate your config-entries.
when the temp formsweb.cfg is ready, simply delete everything after
# THE DEVELOPER CONFIGS STARTS HERE
and append the configs from the temp file.
That's the way I'd do this ;)
