DIV and Table Tag - height issue

Help. I'm using div tags to setup the structure for sections
of my Web page. But when it comes to populating these pages with
dynamically generated text, the height changes. Sure the table td
cell expands, but the div surrounding the table tags DOES NOT. Here
is the page where I am having the problem.
http://www.fuelcellmagazine.com/story2.cfm?id=17
Scroll down to the bottom of the page and you'll see the
table tag overflowing past the div tag settings.
Any suggestions?
D

That is quite a div soup you have there. Why so much absolute
positioning?
Two ticks of the enlarge text in FF and the page is
completely broken. Your
problem is not the div heights, it's the absolute
positioning.

  • Space between div and h tag

    I have this space between a h tag and my div and I am not
    sure why.
    The issue I am talking about is on this page in the right
    hand column:
    http://www.agilitygraphics.com/clients/c21/
    The css I have for those is this:
    h2
    font-size:10px;
    color:#363;
    background-color:#C7DBA9;
    letter-spacing: 1px;
    height: 20px;
    display: block;
    border:none;
    padding: 5px 0 0 12px;
    margin: 0;
    voice-family: "\"}\"";
    voice-family: inherit;
    height:16px;
    div.box01
    padding: 0 0 0 12px;
    margin: 0;
    background:#E9F3E8 url(../images/general/box_bg_01.gif)
    repeat-x;
    div.box01 img
    float:left;
    padding: 0px 5px 5px 0px;
    My html looks like this:
    <h2>Listing Name</h2>
    <div class="box01">
    <p>Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetuer adipiscing
    elit. Cras
    rhoncus.Nulla facilisi. <br />
    Read more &gt;&gt;</p>
    </div>
    How can I get them flush up against eachother?
    Also, when I put an image inside the box01 things get weird
    with the
    next h2. What do I need to do about that?
    clear: both;?
    Where would that go? I kind of tried it, but it did not seem
    to do the
    trick?
    Thank you for any help!!!
    Brian

    You are looking at the top and bottom margins on the
    <p> tag within that
    <div>. Limit them.
    And get rid of the hack! 8)

    Yes - you would put it before you close the div.box01 -
    <h2>Listing Name</h2>
    <div class="box01">

  • Problem with Div and table

    I have a table that contains data parsed for a weather station page.  It also has a webcam picture on the page.  Up until now, the webcam pic has loaded via an applet but I want to change that to a jquery slideshow so it's accessible to more mobile devices.   My problem is that no matter what I do (aside from putting a 5x240 spacer) I can't get the table data to display below the webcam div (id="featured").  I've put the webcam and data table in their own div, the webcam's div in the table, used clear:both on the divs, tried setting block size, but it's like nothing is working.   So I'm back to go and thought I'd post it here since there are so many folks here who know more about this than me.  This is the html, right now with no CSS classes or anything added.  So whatever you would suggest as far as div and/or table layout and any CSS would be appreciated.
    <table width="100%" cellpadding="3">

  • Any way to create a form region without html table tags?

    I'm trying to make a report region that can have the selected row turn into a form for editing the row data and it's almost working ok this way:
    PL/SQL Dynamic Content region 1: TABLE tag, header row and data rows before the selected row, and last TR and TD tags
    form region: the selected row
    PL/SQL Dynamic Content region 2: /TD and /TR tags, data rows after the selected row and /TABLE tag
    That makes the whole form appear in one cell of the table. I would like to put each form item in its' own cell in the "master" table but that would require first getting rid of the table tags (class="formlayout") that are always generated around form items. Any chance?

    Hello,
    I'd have to see your exact example but using javascript one way you can do it is put your form table in a hidden div then you can use javascript to adjust the tags you want , grab the modified dom object then put in the table you want.
    You can also use a modified version of this maybe [http://apex.oracle.com/pls/otn/f?p=11933:77]
    if you could put an example of what you have on http://apex.oracle.com] it will be easier to give you some suggestions. Also you need to be careful when moving form items around an APEX page. Form items in random places can cause unpredictable results.

  • Issue with container divs, and absolute/fixed positioning

    Hello everyone, I have an issue getting my divs to function properly. I have a container div and I want the table div to float inside (and move with page resize). Right now it doesnt move with the page (see photo).
    However, when I change the position to relative of that div, it moves under the container div and locks itself there.(Second photo)
    Any help would be great! Thanks!

    1) Padding is only placed on the top and/or bottom of the div. The elements within this div have padding on their sides. This saves you from any "box model math". Keep in mind, if you add any side padding or border to the div itself, it will be added to the width you define to create the *total* width. You may also choose to remove the padding on the element in the div and place a second div within it with no width and the padding necessary for your design.

  • CSS issue when changing the table row height to 16px

    Hello,
    After changing the table row height through css like this:
    .table-row-cell, .table-cell {
    -fx-cell-size: 16;
    the table rows are correctly displayed with a 16px height but the cell bottoms seem to be incorrectly set.
    For example the following css style (a red 3px bottom border):
    .table-cell {
    -fx-border-width: 0 0 3 0;
    -fx-border-color: red;
    doesn't work anymore with the new row height whereas it works with the 24px standard row height.
    While investigating with Scenic View, I noticed that changing the row height changes the TableRow layoutBounds height (from 24px to 16px so that's ok) but not the boundsInParent height which remains to 27px. I think it should become 19px (16 + 1.5 + 1.5). I don't know if it's a bug.
    Anyway, any help making the css red border working for a 16px row height would be greatly appreciated.
    Regards,
    Bruno.

    Q: Would this help to just use absolute div tags and give me 'ABSOLUTELY ABSOLUTE' positioning?
    No.  APDivs are not a good primary layout method.  Use default CSS positioning (which is no positioning at all).  Align page elements with margins, floats and padding.
    See example -- 2-Column CSS Layout with Grids

  • Tables and conditional tags

    I am having trouble displaying a table after I apply
    conditional tags. The error does not occur until after I apply tags
    to hide rows. It does not occur if I'm hiding just text within a
    cell. I am not applying the tags to the table, just content and
    then just a row of cells.
    I have tested this and if I'm tagging only the content within
    the cell the table maintains the width of the cell and table.
    However, when I apply tags to hide a whole row, the table and cells
    shrink to 1/4 of the size.
    I am using RH7. I have used tags in previous versions and
    have not run across this problem before.
    Does anyone have any idea why applying tags to hide a row is
    creating this issue?
    Cindy

    It seems like the conditional tags in tables does not work
    for me via WYSIWYG. When I selected the row, regardless of whether
    it was highlighting the cell from top left to lower right or from
    selecting the whole row from hovering on the left til the arrow
    appeared, the row tag (<TR>) was not not being picked up,
    only the cells (<TD>) therefore, only each individual cell
    was getting the conditional tag versus the whole row.
    So when the output was selected, the table didn't know what
    to do because it looked like it was condensing the row to
    0...meaning it saw a row with no columns. It got confused because
    it looked like I wanted the columns to be hidden in one view, but
    not the row.
    To solve this problem (at least in RH7) so that the table
    would not shrink to 1/4 of the stated width, I removed all the
    conditional tags, then in HTML applied the x-condition: Tag; to the
    row (<TR>), not to the cells (<TD>). The row is the
    only part of the code that has the conditional tag, the cells do
    not have the tag.
    Although tedious because my tables are long, it has worked
    perfectly on 3 of the tables I have done this to so far.
    Not sure why the WYISWYG view is not grabbing the rows, but
    at least I have a work around that I can live with.

  • How can I apply new attributes to a table-Tag in an JEditorPane?

    I'm using a JEditorPane as a base for a small HTML-Editor. The manipulating of the attributes of an image-tag such as href works fine. But now I want to add the width-attribute to an table-tag.
    The result: Nothing in the table-tag, but other strange things (width is set to any TD oder in every cell a new table is added.
    How can I do this? Any suggestions??
    Thanks.

    Did you ever solve this problem?
    I can manipulte the <p> tags and character styles, but the manipulation of <td>, <div> and other standard tags I cannot figure out.
    Please let us know, [email protected]
    By the way:
    If you have only a width tag in your images, does it resize proportionaly, as in a normal browser or is the height taken from the original picture, as it happens with me?
    This is quite nasty, since I do not know the original picture sizes.

  • Applet within a table tag.

    Hi,
    I have placed an applet within a <table> tag. The applet does not get executed. I see only blank space, even though the HTML source has the applet tag. If I remove the table tags and place the applet directly in <body>, then it works fine. So there isnt any problem with the codebase or anything.
    Are there any specific rules as to inside which tags can the <applet> tag be embedded? I would apprecite any information regarding this.

  • Report Generation Toolkit Table Row Height-MS Word

    I am having trouble setting the table row height in the report generation toolkit. I can set the column width fine, but the row height seems to remain the same no matter what I set it to. I have attached the VI that generates and formats the table, and the printout it is resulting in. I have also attached the template file I am using.
    Any tips to get this to work right? I am trying to make the cells exactly the same height as the text inside.

    Hi,
    So I tried .2  and it didn't work.  So I went to Word to manually change it, and it did not work either.  There is a selection box in word, for the table properties, that seems to default to the value "at least".  When I changed this manually to "exactly" in word, no problem with the .2 manually in Word.
    Hopefully this can be set within the template, for all new inserted tables.  I'm not sure the report generator VI's expose this property.  Well, this is a start for the issue.
    Edit ****
    You can go into the add table VI and expose the property.  See pic.   However, you have to decide if you want to "upgrade" this VI permanently to expose this property or make a copy with the property exposed.   I haven't messed with the new class reports too much, so not sure of the ins and outs with this.
    I think this is the issue with the row size becoming smaller.

  • Indesign library drag drop looses xml attributes of Table tag

    Hi all,
         I have created a Table with 1 row and 3 coloumns, I have text in all 3 cells. I have attaced xml tags to cell text and after that I have added attibutes to Story tag, Table tag and Text tag.  I have drag this table frame to Indesign library to save it for further use.
         When I tried to drag it back to document the Table tag attributes are missing. This is happening on Indesign CS4 Win and Mac.
    I have saved required information in the xml attributes of table tag and since its attributes are missing after drag from library I am not able to use library of Indesign.
    Is this an issue with Indesign CS4?
    -Rahul Dalvi.

    Hi All,
         I am still waitng for the reply. I have attached 2 files here, first one is the Indesign document 'TableXMLTags.indd' having a tagged table. second one is the Library file 'TableXMLtagLibrary.indl' in which I have draged table from 'TableXMLTags.indd'. When I tried to drag that table from library to any document it just loses attributes of Table tag. Here each tag has 3 attributes attached to it.
    I am using Indesign CS4 on Windows and Macintosh.
    Please let me know if there is any way to avoid tag attribute loss.
    Thanks,
    Rahul Dalvi.

  • Spry tabbed panels and "The tag: "li" doesn't have an attribute: "tabindex" ..."

    Hi,
    I've been using the DW CS4 "Spry Tabbed Panels" on a few pages. When I validate the website (with DW tool for that), I get the following messages for each use of the tabbed panels: The tag: "li" doesn't have an attribute: "tabindex" in currently active versions. [XHTML 1.0 Transitional].

    If validation is important to you, you need to remove tabindex. Should you worry about it? Not really. Sometimes it makes sense to ignore validation to achieve a particular goal, which is why Spry widgets use tabindex in a technically invalid way.
    The explanation as to why Spry does that can be found here: http://blogs.adobe.com/spryteam/2007/03/spry_widgets_and_tab_index.html.

  • Table Data Alignment issue in DW CS4

    Hi,
    I'm creating a web site in DW CS4. I'm trying to align my table that I created for my contact form. I got it like I want it except for one slight issue: my submit button is not aligning with the rest of the form elements. I'm not sure how to add my HTML code here. If you guys can tell me I'll add it. Thanks so much!
    FYI:
    I figured if I add <td align="right"> and then alternate the next element with <td align="left"> and insert it under the <tr> tag that it would position the elements slightly right of left justified.

  • Row Height Issue

    Oh Hi I have selected Optimize height by row content from Table and font tab and it shows all my text in activity name but when i saved the layout it changes back to keep current rows heights. Can any one tell me how do i fix this
    Thanks in Advanced

    *793199 ,*
    The "Row Height" issue is a common problem. Some things that affect my row height are:
    * Not saving my layout after changing row height
    * Notebook items in the gantt chart affecting the row height and may have to be manually widened to display all of the text or symbols
    Row Height*
    Optimize height by row content:* Indicates you want each row's height determined by its content. If you choose this option, type or select the maximum number of lines that should be included in each row.
    Good luck and let me know how it turns out.
