Dma support with CF-Card

Hi there:
I have a problem here. I can't enable DMA with my 2gb CF Card (Sandisk Ultra 2.0). Its connected to the IDE Port and Archlinux with Kernel 2.6.28-ARCH.
hdparm -d1 /dev/sda1 just returns
/dev/sda:
setting using_dma to 1 (on)
HDIO_SET_DMA failed: Inappropriate ioctl for device
HDIO_GET_DMA failed: Inappropriate ioctl for device
I know that DMA is supported by this device, here is the output from hdparm -vI /dev/sda:
/dev/sda:

Its running on a Via Motherboard, i think i loaded the right chipset modules. IDE interface: VIA Technologies, Inc. VT82C586A/B/VT82C686, Module is /lib/modules/2.6.28-ARCH/kernel/drivers/ide/via82cxxx.ko, but this did not change anything. I also tried to include some kernelline commands, but they also didnt help.

Do you have any ideas how i can enable DMA with this card and remove this messages from booting?
Thank you all very much
andieh

I have three CF cards installed in my computer, each is an adata 266x UDMA capable 8GB.
I utilize IDE to CF card adapters for utilizing CF cards in my system or SATAII to CF cards adapters.
I obtain 45MB/sec sequential speed on all three adapters.
These are UDMA capable CF cards, not just DMA.
Currently, I utilize all three CF cards in a raid0 arrangement using a dual pci-e to SATAII adapter to two CF adapters and a single pci-e adapter to SATAII and a CF adapter as well.  The three perform at 45MB/S and 130 MB/S in the raid array.
Each card is identified as an sd(x) card.
Kernel is the latest to date.
DMA utilization may limit your speed to less than 20MB/s and IDE operation with an adapter from pci performs well with UDMA.
I realize I haven't addressed your particular problem directly but I find that in the latest kernels a pci to IDE adapter permits full performance from CF cards whereas using the mobo IDE slot does not...probably due to libata inclusion in the kernel.  YMMV

  • Photoshop CC 30bit support with AMD cards

I have an AMD ATI 4900 FirePro which perfectly supports the 30-bit mode on Photoshop CS6 with my NEC Spectraview Reference display.
Unfortunately this support turned out to be broken with PhotoshopCC. (Please note that Nvidia cards do support 30-bit mode with P. CC).
I found this bug during my trial period, so I wrote to AMD ATI. They confirmed the bug and after a long investigation and months of waiting finally told me that Adobe has acknowledged the problem and will issue a hotfix.
However...nothing has happened yet and I was wondering if Adobe can speed up this release or hotfix.
I'd love to upgrade to CC but I'm not willing to forgo the 30-bit mode and will need to stay with CS6 until this issue is solved.
I hope someone from Adobe will read this.

You are running 14.0.0 and haven't installed any of the updates.
The current version is 14.2.1 -- please go install the updates.

  • Need info about graphics card supported with pre pro cs5

    Hi,
I checked one information about supported graphics card  about pre pro cs5 on aodbe.com,
    http://www.adobe.com/products/premiere/search_result.html?manuSearchVar=1&modelSearchVar=0 &supportSearchVar=0&brand=&dataFormat=&version=CS5&device=graphic&format=&buttonSubmit=
Under SUPPORT column it is mentioned for ATI and NVIDIA "Legacy support" and "Full support".
What is the difference in "Legacy support" and "Full support"?
I am not able to understand
    Vinay

Premiere will use just about any graphics card to write to the screen so you may see what you are doing
For hardware MPE you must use a specific nVidia card... or a non-supported nVidia card with a small hack
For a list of supported nVidia CUDA cards go to the FAQ

    To be clear:
You asked about supported cards. Here is a list of supported cards. Others on this thread are telling you how to make an unsupported card function to some degree using a method that is not advocated by Adobe.

My credit card was charge with out my approval, how can I get support with the issue?

If it's a purchase that appears on your purchase history (and not a temporary store holding charge which is made each time that you add or change your credit card details) and nobody else has access to your account and/or devices, then you can either try the 'report a problem' link from your purchase history to contact iTunes Support : http://reportaproblem.apple.com
Or you can try contacting iTunes Support via this page : http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/contact/ - click on Contact iTunes Store Support on the right-hand side of the page, then Purchases, Billing & Redemption

  • HT3702 when i purchase with visa card it tell me please contact itunes support to complete this transaction

when i purchase with visa card it tell me please contact itunes support to complete this transaction please help  me

Many people are having this same problem. I myself was in touch with iTunes for over a week as well as with my bank (Capital One in this case). For Some reason iTunes has put your debit/credit cards into a "fraud mode". According to my bank representative people have been calling in for about 2 weeks about this, so you and I are not alone at all about this. For me I was able to buy anything as long as it was under $10.00, but anything above gave me the errors you are having. You need to contact your debit/credit card customer service numbers and first make sure that there is no "block" or "cap" on them for iTunes. Then ask them why it is being declined. They may ask you to verrify the city and or state which the iTunes store billing you is in, TELL THEM "CALIFORNIA". Then once you have done everything with the bank you need to contact iTunes Store which is only possible with email (or so Apple has told me), and have them reset the billing and and address information for your account. They will email you back saying that in 30 min...blah blah blah... Basically once they have responded log off from the iTunes store on every single apple device you have: iPhone, iPad, Apple TV, iTunes on your computers, all of them! Then log back in through your COMPUTER and enter all of your information again. This should sove your problem completely. It worked for me.... Good Luck!

  • Camcorder video error: "Unable to record. Resolution not supported by memory card."

We purchased two Samsung Droid Charges the first day they were released and recently they've both been getting this error after 8-15 seconds of recording in HD (1280x720): "Warning: Unable to record. Resolution not supported by memory card."
Called Verizon tech support, but they referred me to Samsung. Not knowing much about micro SDHC cards, I was alarmed to discover that the factory pre-installed 32gb card is only rated class 2 for speed. Samsung told me you need a minimum of speed class 4 or higher to record at this resolution. The only problem is you need an SD card installed in order to use the camcorder, period. In other words, all of us who payed an arm and a leg for the best phone Verizon sells now have to go buy our own micro sd card that actually supports all of the phone features as advertised?! The lowest prices I've seen for the faster cards are $70. Are we the only two Charge owners experiencing this problem?  I've read somewhere that lower speed class cards may initially support faster speeds than they are rated until they accumulate more files, so the problem may go undetected for some time until you have more files that are stored in different locations on the card (making them difficult to access at the faster speeds). This may explain why are the first ones to get this error since we've had the phones the longest and only 50% free space remaining on the SD card. Oh, Samsung also said they won't be able to replace your card for one that has the proper speed rating. Kind of seems like false advertising to say a feature is available (HD camcorder), and then not mention the fact that the memory card provided isn't sufficient for that feature (separate upgrade required). Anyone else sharing the same frustrations? Ideas?

Thanks for the response. I've tried everything on that page. It's not an issue with the cable, or firewire port or the cable being connected properly, as the iSight camera works fine with iChat. I've disconnected the only other firewire device on the computer, didn't make any difference. Camera works fine in iChat, so it's not the camera itself. And, as I mentioned in the post, the same camera, if hooked up to my laptop, works just fine recording in QuickTime. So, it appears to be an issue with the QuickTime installation on this computer. I've done a search for the same error I'm getting and found some other occurrences with the same problems, but none that offered a solution.

  • Flex 14 SD card reader not working with larger cards on Windows 8.1

The card reader in my Flex 14 is behaving very oddly. When I insert a 16GB SDHC card it makes the 'USB inserted' noise and the card shows up under device manager but I can't access it through file explorer. The card reader works fine with smaller SD cards that I have. I tried the card in another, Win7 laptop and it worked fine.
I see a number of other people are having a similar problem and I have followed all of the troubleshooting advice I can find, but nothing is working. Does anyone have any other suggestions?
This is what I have tried:
    1. Leaving the card in the camera and attaching the camera via USB cable to the laptop: same result, noise, but can't access the card.
    2. Trying to reassign the drive letter through storage controller: it shows the card but if you right click it to assign it a drive letter it says the 'file is missing'.
    3. Downloaded the Win8.1 x64 driver from Lenovo website and installed. This stopped the card being recognised at all.
    4. Installed the Win8 xc4 driver: this got me back to the noise but no action stage.
    5. Updated Windows.
    6. Uninstalled and reinstalled the driver numerous times both with the card inserted and without it and with restarting the computer after unistall and after reinstall.
    7. Ran Ubunutu from a live USB: This allowed me to see the card and copy its contents to the laptop's HDD.
So it seems to be some incompatibility between the Lenovo drivers and Win8.1. Potentially it's to do with the USB drivers rather than the card reader drivers as the result when using the USB cable and the camera was the same as putting the card in the card reader. Is there a way to update these?
Any other troubleshooting steps I could take?
    Thanks.

    What size are the cards?
Another way. You can use a USB flash drive & the camera connection kit.
Plug the USB flash drive (works the same with an SD card) into your computer & create a new folder titled DCIM. Then put your movie/photo files into the folder. The files must have a filename with exactly 8 characters long (no spaces) plus the file extension (i.e., my-movie.mov; DSCN0164.jpg).
Now plug the flash drive into the iPad using the camera connection kit. Open the Photos app, the movie/photo files should appear & you can import. (You can not export using the camera connection kit.)

  • Loss 3D graphics and can't connect to external display with NVIDIA card

I note this morning that the graphics in 3D mode of iWork (version 4.1 with system 10.6.8) no longer appears in all software suite. The 2D graphics are displayed perfectly. I also notice I can't connect an external display when I am on NVIDIA card but work well with Intel card.
The 3D graphics are printed but not displayed on the screen (it also appear inthe thumbnail). It seems to be a worry to display.
I posted two screen images showing the problem of 3D in Pages.

  • Is a dual monitor setup with 2graphic cards possible?

    HI.
What i want to do is run Archlinux on my Desktop but i dont want to miss my second monitor.
I could use both monitor on my nvidia graphiccard but i want to use the energy saving features too (wich dont work with 2monitor on one card) therefore my windows setup is big monitor on nvidia and the smaller one on the intel onboard card.
They both get recognized by lspci but only the onboard cards isy being used (the onboard card is the first card on windows too).
So is it possible to get it to work? Id really want to use ARchlinux on my Desktop too but i dont want to use it with one screen or without energy saving?
Working compositing is a must, i want to use gnome3 wich is the only reason to swich to linux for the Desktop (arch is running on the laptop for ages^^) but i dont need to, Win7 is working flawlessly fine and i didnt have to pay for it (msdnaa).
    Thanks in advance!

hy do you need to clock down your card?
Most gpu have a function that clocks down the card@idle and or desktop.
In my case thats down from 850mhz(560ti)to 200mhz while using windows and 50mhz if the gpu load is low.
Thats about 20watts less then with full clock.
The problem is, that the gpu wont clock down with 2monitors on it, it stays at 850mhz.
Theres some driver tweaks for amd cards wich "fix" thatfix this (i believe its intentionl, 2monitors equals more load but its no problem with new cards...
Thats one reason i use my onboard gpu for the second monitor, it works well with windows and also means that swiching off fullscreen (games) to the desktop works a lot better, the second monitor can play a movie while playing wich doesnt work with one gpu and fullscreen.
I really dont need that with Linux since i use it for work and multimedia only but the energy saving feature is nice if the pc is on 8hours and more wich is often the case.
Can you tell which one do you run? I'm going to buy one for dual-monitor setup, and I'm looking for something that will work for shure.
As said dual monitor on one gpu works, amd can do 3monitors while nvidia can do 2 at once, that means if u intend to use 3monitors some day with ur card u have to buy an amd card.
i took the nvidia because is can use it to render videos with cuda support (its not working with all tools yet but its getting better and if it works its a lot faster then my cpu rendering).
PS: Thats one hread about the power saviing with 2monitors:http://forums.nvidia.com/index.php?showtopic=197557
since my monitors dont share the same resolution it seems that theres no way to make it work .

I don't know who 'Mrs Gideon' is, but we are fellow users here on these forums, you're not talking to iTunes Support nor Apple.
If you have previously contacted support then you can use the same method that you used last time, and, if you have a case number, include that as well

  • UPS monitoring support with Cisco Prime Infrastructure 1.2

    Dear Members,
    Good day,
I am having a project implemented wherein i have the UPS power redudancy solution for our network devices.
Now can anyone gide that is it possible for below :-
UPS units installed with SNMP cards be monitored via Cisco Prime Infrastructure 1.2 as our monitoring & management solution is Cisco Prime Infrastructure 1.2 ?
    if yes
Can you guide if following action would be possible to export the below logs from UPS unit to our Cisco Prime Infrastructure 1.2
       a) UPS fault status information
       b) UPS operational status(input power available Y/N)
       c) Battery fault status
       d) Battery charging current
       e) Battery charge level
       f) Output current
Conclusion is we need to confirm that would it be posible to achieve remote monitoring of these UPS units via our CPI 1.2
Thanks in Advance for your support & replies to this query.
    Regards,
    Muzammil N.

Prime Infrastructure 1.2 can manage non-Cisco devices in a limited fashion via SNMP query and trap processing. It cannot import logs and does not have a generic syslog server,
So if your devices have snmp read only support and can generate SNMP traps for the above you can add them to PI. Follow the manual add device procedure here.
