Do AVI Compression Filters require a Microsoft Digital Signature in LV

Hello all,
My company has written a custom video codec. I installed the custom codec onto my machine. When I did I was warned that this codec did not have "Microsoft Digital Signature". I said "ok" and installed it anyway. The codec appeared in my Hardware codec properties tab. I figured all was good. I was wrong.
When I run the VI "IMAQ AVI get filter names" it does not appear in the returned list. I assumed the reason for this to be because the VI only returns Microsoft approved codecs. Am I right? I also tried using the codec by using a string constant and placing its name exactly how it appears in the HArdware properties tab into the "IMAQ AVI create" VI. This did not work either.
Am I right by assuming that I cannot run non-microsoft approved codecs in IMAQ LV?  Is there a way around this? Any feedback???
Foiled by MS,
Glen D.

Hey Glen D.,
The Get Filter Names VI returns only the filters that are able to work the NI's AVI functions. What the VI does is it gets the list of filters from DirectShow and then it tests each one with a sample frame to see if it can compress the image or not. Then the function returns a list of the codecs that work. This does not necessarily mean that the function works only with Microsoft approved codecs. So if your custom codec can somehow align with the DirectShow architecture, then your codec should be detected by the IMAQ AVI functions.
I hope this answers your question. Please let me know if you have any further questions or concerns. Thanks, and have a great day.

    2) Once the form is filled and send it back, how receiver can validate whether the filled form came from an authorized person?

    Hi Ravi,
Digital signatures can also be created and verified as of Adobe Reader 5.1. Users can use the Adobe Acrobat Reader to display and print files in PDF format, whose content and appearance correspond to the paper version, on a cross-platform basis. The prerequisites for this are the use of the new Adobe Document Server for Reader Extensions and the replacement of SmartForms by Adobe Acrobat (this is still in development). SSF is not used.
Adobe Document Server for Reader Extensions assign additional usage rights to electronic forms that were created with Adobe Acrobat 5.0 and Adobe Form Designer 5.0. Digital signatures are a type of usage right.
Adobe Acrobat Reader 5.1 can be downloaded free-of-charge from Adobe's Web site, and processes the usage rights that were embedded in PDF forms by the Adobe Document Server for Reader Extensions.

  • Digital Signature in ECC 5.0

    Dear All,
Can anyone please confirm if we can configure Digital Signature with ECC 6.0 only? It's because I am currently working in ECC 5.0 and require to use digital signature in Form16.
    Regards,

Since release 4.0A, the SAP system has provided digital signatures, to secure digital documents and business processes. Previously, such digital signatures were only available for selected positions in the SAP system. If a function was to be connected to further applications, the program code had to be extended according to the application. This is very time consuming.
As of release 6.20, a standardized and flexible programming interface is available, with which the digital signature can be connected to any areas in both R/3 systems and other systems, such as APO, CRM, etc. In principle, no changes are made to the existing functions, and the following functions are added:
The document to be signed is called up by the relevant application and forwarded to the signature

  • PDF Generation with Digital Signature

    Hi All,
We have a requirement to attach digital signature to the generated PDF output.
I am trying to use 'SSF' function modules from the function group 'SSFG' to achieve this.
Can anyone let me know the detailed steps to attach digital signature to a file and later verify it from the customer's end?

    Hi.....
    Thnq for the reply.
I think its not a correct procedure.
Its not a just a simple image that is uploaded into SAP and can be used.
For putting a Digital Signture one has to buy a certificate from a authority ,
with that certficate one has a set of Public and Proivate key... and algorithm which checks whether the PDF is changed after the sign is done.
and Most of all the Signature is legal Binding and can be Sued
    so we cannot do that

  • Digital Signature in SAP DMS

    Hello,
We want to implement digital signatures in SAP DMS, but we're not sure on how to accomplish it. We have the following scenario:
    1. All the users have a digital certificate which is part of the Portuguese ID card;
    2. Currently we're all using this certificate to digitally sign e-mails (they use their laptops integrated card reader), for example;
    3. We also want to use this certificate to sign DMS documents.
Do you think the above mentioned scenario is possible without licensing additional software? If so, can you guide me through the customization steps?
    Thanks in advance.
    Kind regards,
    Ricardo

    Hi Ricardo,
It is quite possible to achieve your requirements using the digital signature strategy available in SAP DMS. I have previoulsy answered the steps involved [here|Digital Signature on Original File; and you may additionally look up [Wiki|http://wiki.sdn.sap.com/wiki/display/PLM/Digitalsignaturein+DMS] and [SAP Help|http://help.sap.com/saphelp_470/helpdata/en/9f/857f3a1c7b11d294d200a0c92f024a/frameset.htm] as well.
In your case, more specifically, you need to adopt the signature method during customization as 'User signature with external security product with/without verification' for which your I-Card reader would also be required.

  • Technical and Philosophical Question re: Digital Signatures

My question is technical, but has a philosophical issue driving it.
    Summary:
In Livecycle Designer ES2 (9), I would like to setup a form for digital signature that, once enabled for Reader, you can apply a digital signature without having to immediately save.  I know it can be done.  Example:  http://www.opm.gov/forms/pdf_fill/opm71.pdf
    Technical:
How is this done?  Is it a setting of the signature field object?
    Philosophical Underpinings:
    1. I don't need the digital signature to be legally defensible, so I don't care if if the document changes after applying the signature, nor will any of the fields be locked down after signing.  However, the digital signature everyone at my company uses is the legally defensible type, so using it instead of digital ink is for simplcity's sake.
    2. When most people sign a paper document, they usually sign, and THEN date.  The problem with Adobe et al.'s implementation of digital signatures is that you have to date, and THEN sign, or else the date field will usually be locked down after you are forced to save the document after signing.  I know that a date field is not required when using digital signatures, but you need to date field in case someone decides to print the form and sign the old fashioned way.
    3. Because of this conundrum, I made the date field auto-populate with the signing date by applying javascript to the signature field that populates the date field upon signing.  The problem with that is that with Adobe forcing me to save the document immediately after signing, the date field does not populate because the signature applies to the version of the document that existed just prior to the signature being applied.  Since the date field wants to populate after signing, it is discarded.
Hence, I want to prevent Reader from forcing me to immediately save.  I am approaching this philosophical conundrum all wrong?
    Signed,
    Befuddled

"you can apply a digital signature without having to immediately save.  I know it can be done."
Whenever a signature is applied, the form gets saved. So, you can't apply a signature without having saved the form. Do some modifications in the form you have provided, save it and validate the signature. Validation would suggest that changes have been done in the form, so signature is invalidated at this stage. This effectively means that data has been changed in the form after signing making it unreliable so to say.
Since you are moving to digital signing in the form, I do not understand exactly why there's a need to manually enter the date after signing the form digitally. Once you sign the form, date automatically comes in the signature. This solves the purpose/use case that user needs to fill in the date. Ideally, you need to remove the date field from the form.
"I know that a date field is not required when using digital signatures, but you need to date field in case someone decides to print the form and sign the old fashioned way."
If you can't remove the date field from the form and want to have a simialr experience in digital world, the option is to write a simple script in the form which checks whether the date is filled in or not. If it's not filled in, abort the signing process and provide a message asking user to fill in the date.

  • Integrating Digital Signatures into J2EE Web App

I have a requirement to add digital signature functionality to a J2EE web application. Our customers would like to press a sign button on a web page, be prompted to connect their hardware security token (e.g. USB device or smart card), and the signatures stored inside our system for later verification (e.g. in court).
The main issue I can see is that when using hardware-based tokens the private key can never leave the device, so the device itself does the signing. Whereas our J2EE Web Application has all the code on the app server tier, and the data is located on the database (and in our architecture cannot be exported to client PCs for security reasons).
Does anyone know of any solutions to this kind of requirement? Any vendor toolkits that allow this? From what Ive read from researching this subject the pieces are all there but most web-based security solutions only implement application login authentication of one sort or another.

    Hi Tony,
As of DIAdem 2012 there is no product feature that makes it easier to create a web front end to DIAdem.  You can host DIAdem with a terminal services approach such as Citrix, which will give you all of DIAdem's functionality in a web GUI.  You can also host DIAdem on a cloud server if that's where your data is.
On final option is that LabVIEW offers a user programmable web server which can make calls to DIAdem via ActiveX.

  • Web Services with Digital Signature?

    Hello,
I spoke to Adobe yesterday regarding using web services to submit forms, but our forms need to have a digital signature in them. He said (not a quote, just a recap here) while technically possible, it will be difficult since we would need to deserialize the document.
So, has anyone accomplished this? Is there a QPAC out there that can already handle this?
    Thank you,
    Jennifer

    Hello Chris,
I really am in unfamiliar ground here, so if a servlet works, then great (of course I have no clue how to do that...).
Basically we need to have a form out on a website so that people can submit this form with a digital signature. We do have Form Manager, but right now cannot use it since the Form Manager requires AD/LDAP accounts. Considering that our form is a request for a USER ACCOUNT, we are stuck :D I thought the web services may have been our answer, but then it was looking like we couldn't use it because of our digital signature requirement.
The only reason I wanted to try to make this fit back into the workflow is for after the fact processing done by admins (who will definitely have a LC account). I figured an admin could trigger the workflow by sending the user (no LC account) an email with the URL to the pdf form - I assumed this could be done with some type of init form. The 2 different possible scenarios:
    1. The user gets the email, fills the form and signs it and then provides the email address to the next user (again, no LC account) to fill and sign and then to a third user without an LC account to fill and sign and then if we could hook back into the work flow from there so that the admin could basically "check off" that their account was created which would then send an intro email to the user with their account info and other message.
    2. Within the Init Form we provide the supervisor and security manager email addresses, so that when the first user submits the form, it automatically sends an email to their Supervisor (assuming we need to hook back into the workflow). And then eventuall we get to the "check off" part and go on our way.
After these three people sign the form, believe it or not, we need TWO (possible 4) more signatures. These people will have LC accounts.
Overall, I need to keep the form intact with the digital signatures so we can store the form. Would the HTTP Post submit to a servlet accomplish this? If so, where can I read up on this further?
Regarding the form storage, I originally thought this would be stored for viewing through Form Manager, but Adobe Support indicated that the admin would have to actually upload this filled out form through adminui, so this just sounded like a mess to me. I was hoping to have something where the admins could search for submitted forms as needed.
I hope this is all making sense. We spent so much money on this product and it's looking like we cannot use it now because of 1. requirement of an AD/LDAP account to use Form Manager and 2. if we don't use Form Manager, it looks like we cannot utilize web services due to our requirement of a digital signature.
I just need to get this form online and ideally, get it hooked back into the workflow somehow with keeping the digital signature in tact.
Another question - What if we received the form via email with the first three parts filled out (data + digital signatures from the non-LC account holders). Can we get this form submitted into the workflow then to utilize Form Manager?
Thank you so much for your help, I really appreciate it.
    -Jennifer

  • Visible digital signature on different pages

We assemble closing documents which individually require a visible digital signature. We would like our client to sign only once the pdf document containg all such documents (resolutions, receipts, agreements, notices, etc) but have the visible digital signature show up at the various pages that require signer's approval. Is there a way to have such signature place holders preconfigured for a specific signatory that only signs (electronically) once the document ? If so, is it also possible to have mutliple signatories with multiple place holders in a lenghty document ? I use Adobe Pro 9.2.
    Thank you in advance.

This is a common question, but I'm afraid it's almost certainly the wrong question. It usually comes from trying to translate a system of paper signatures into digital signatures without really examining how different they are.
The key is that digital signatures always, without exception, apply to the whole document. Yes, they might have an appearance on one page, but that is of no importance - in fact I think appearances should be banned because they lead people into the trap of looking at the page to see if it is signed - but this is trivial to fake, and of no security value.
If you have a need to overlap a paper based and digital system, you could use a stamp (not a signature) on each page, THEN sign.

    SharePoint 2010 version 14.0.7102.5000.
Clients are Windows 7 SP1, Browser is IE 10.0.9200.17296
Problem is the well known famous message 'requires a microsoft sharepoint foundation-compatible application and web browser' when the user chooses the button New Document.
Why this behaviour for this user is different then all the threads and blogs I read about this message is because of the  following: I am logged on using my Windows account on my computer (VDI so I have the same computer as the user experiencing the
message) and don't have this problem. When the concerning user uses my logged on computer under my account and only logs in with his credentials within SharePoint (sign in as Different User) then the problem occures. I performed the same actions on the same
    library as the concerning user.
    So ruled out are:
    - Browser version
    - Office version
    - windows User Profile
    - x86 vs x64
    - MS Foundation Support installation
    - add on SharePoint OpenDocuments Class
    Please help me out.

Do you have different versions of Office or SharePoint Designer or any Office product installed?
You can try repairing office installation in that particular user machine and see what happens.
    Thanks.
Sorry to say but software versions can be ruled out as I mentioned the user have the same problem when using
my logged on account in Windows on my computer. Only in the browser the user is logging in with his credentials. I don't have this problem when using this Document Library.
