Do LabVIEW Projects support multiple Windows systems?

I am trying to set up a LabVIEW project that contains more than one
Windows computer.  I added the "Networked Computer/Device" option,
but I cannot add VIs to it.
If I can't add multiple Windows computers, then how do I use Shared Variables between two PCs?
Thanks,
David R. Asher

I was trying to do exactly that not too long ago.

Does LabVIEW 2009 support the use of multiple monitors for development? Screen real estate use in LabVIEW is difficult. It would help if the developer could use more than one monitor.
In LabVIEW 2009 can you pin certain items to appear or pop up only on a specific monitor?
Can you have Front panels only show up on one monitor and Block Diagrams on another monitor?
    How is this done?

Not exactly like this, but LabVIEW VIs remember thier last location when saved and will come up at that positiont, unless that is entirely out of the current desktop in which case they will default back to the primary monitor.
Also VI server supports multiple monitors too by giving you back a list of monitor rectangles so you could do a little utility that runs in the background to do what you want. Most likely you will not like such a deamon that pulls your diagrams and panels around as you move them on your screen, but you can try it out.

  • Photoshop CS6 CMS doesn't support multiple monitors system?

There are two video cards (GTX560Ti) and two monitors separately connected to them in my system. With hardware calibration (MonacoOPTIX) I have two separate icc profiles for each monitor, being uploaded on Windows startup in their correspondent LUTs through Color managemet applet in Control Panel (Windows 7). That works properly.
In my workflow routine I need Photoshop on monitor 2 (it's profile is acer2204.icm), but PS neither see nor use that profile, it uses the profile of another monitor (monitor 1, Benq.icm) only. Why? It's wrong. How can I make PS to use proper monitor profile? Is it possible? If not, then it is rather strange under Windows 7 improved color management features.
    http://s1.ipicture.ru/uploads/20120429/wYkrfTV8.jpg

You seem to be confused about what Monitor RGB means. In your image you put a pointing arrow from Monitor RGB to the Custom color profile option as if you believe that those two options are connected. There is no connection between these two options. Choosing monitor RGB simply displays the images  in your monitor' color space without any color correction, in other words in effect this turns off the color management of  your monitor.
If you go to Custom and choose the monitor profile of one of your monitors, this will give different result.
If the "Preserve RGB numbers" is checked, this will result in the same effect as choosing Monitor RGB but will affect only one of your monitors - the one which is using the same color profile in the system - the other monitor, let's call it the second monitor, will try to simulate how the first monitor will display the color values if not converted.
If the "Preserve RGB numbers"  is not checked, which is how you should use it most of the time, this will simulate on both monitors how the colors will look like if you convert from the currently used color space to the color space of one of your monitors.

  • Multiple SAP systems in MSCS with Oracle

    Hello,
We are going to install a BI instance in a MSCS cluster in which there is already a SAP system installed and clustered.
The SO is Windows 2008 and Oracle 10.2.0.4.
My problem is about the Oracle sw. In previous SAP releases there was a guide called "Installation of Multiple SAP systems in MSCS: Oracle".
For my release Netweaver 7.0. EHP1 SR1, there is no specific guide. All the references are the installation guide and part related to MSCS installation and a white paper about "new configuration of multiple SAP systems with Windows 2008 Failover Clustering".
In all that documents I haven't found what to do with the database. In the beginning of the installation documents says that Multiple Oracle_home for different database instances are not supported in an MSCS configuration. But in the pages related to the MSCS installation says "if required, set up multiple Oracle Homes".
So, what's the option? Multiple Oracle_homes or MCOD? Be in mind that I already have a SAP system in this cluster, so I already have an Oracle home c:\oracle\<SID>\102
Have you work in this scenario?
    Thanks and best regards,
    Ana.

    Hi,
Officially SAP does not support Multiple SAP Systems in One MCSC Cluster. If such installation & configuration has been done by SAP Global Technology Partner then and then only SAP provide support.
what's the option? Multiple Oracle_homes or MCOD?
GO for multiple oracle_home , in which the same drive letter for oracle_home should be used on local disks in both MCSC cluster nodes.  And the same oracle_home should be junctioned to the shared location on shared space.
The Chapter 7 High Availability with Microsoft Cluster Service of [Inst. Guide SAP NetWeaver 7.0 incl. EHP1 SR1|http://service.sap.com/~form/sapnet?_SHORTKEY=01100035870000659894&_OBJECT=011000358700000353072009E] contains all the required information with detail. Refer it.

  • Multiple Windows, one Flash instance?

Is it possible to draw Flash content in an offscreen image
buffer and then project it in multiple Windows (XP)? The effect I'm
trying to achieve is using a single Flash .swf instance projected
in multiple Windows in order to reduce memory usage. Is this
possible at all? Will it be possible with Flash Player 9? Are there
any other ways to achieve a similar solution?

YES ! This is possible with FlashJester Jugglor
Jugglor has a multiply monitor features which has a Clone
    option. This will
do exactly what your looking for.
    Download an evaluation copy from
    http:/www.jugglor.com
    and go to
Jugglor -> Setup Settings -> Windows Options ->
    Multimonitor Support
and yes it works fine with Flash 9 Player. Publish it as a
    Projector file it
    will run smoother.
Give it a try before you buy. ;)

  • Possibility of connecting multiple BW systems to single ECC system

    Hi all,
I have a requirement in my company to connect multiple BW systems to single ECC system. Would like to confirm whether this may not be supported by all BW extractors in particular the delta mechanism?
For logistics extractor in ECC side in RSA7 it stores BW System as target which shows they support multiple BW systems as target, but for FI extractors which keeps delta timestamps in BWOM2_TIMEST table, it doesn't store the target system. I'm afraid if we connect multiple BW systems to single ECC system, some of the delta records might go to one BW system and some others go to the other BW system when we execute delta load in both BW systems.
Thank you very much in advance.
    regards,
    arie

    Hi,
You can very well connect multiple BW systems to single ECC system and you will not miss any delta as well. In the source system for each delta data source a delta queue is maintained for each target system.
for e.g. I have two BW systems ABW and BBW connected to AEC system then for 0FI_AP_4 data source we will have DQ1_ABW and DQ2_BBW as two different delta queues (I am not following any naming conventions, actual names will be as per the target system logical name).
The settings maintained in BWOM2_TIMEST table are across the system and they define some global settings e.g. till what time the FI data should be extracted in BW system, for e.g. the time maintained is 2.00 AM then though you do extraction from multiple systems same data will be extracted till next time interval occurs.
In summery you can very well connect multiple BW systems to a single ECC system.

  • Is it possible to build a project with Labview 2010 on a Windows XP system, that is useful for a system with windows 7 on it?

    Hi there,
I am planning to use Labview 2010 in a short time.
But before I'm going to use it I have some questions.
I know it is possible to run Labview 2010 in an XP environment. But is it also possible to, when running Labview 2010 on a XP system, to build a project to a version that is useful in a Windows 7 environment?
Or do I have to run Labview 2010, when I want to build a project that is useful on a Windows 7 system, on a system with Windows 7?
    Please give me some information.
I hope to hear from one of you soon.

  • Problems with installation of system and support files with Labview 5.1 on Windows NT.

I make installations disks with Labview 5.1 on Windows NT and I need to add some system files and other support files. When I'm in App Builder I choose them in "Add support files" and I mark their "custom directory destination" (c:\winnt\system32, c:\est\base) but, when I test the installation I see that files don't save in this directory, they save in 'C:\c\winnt\system32' and 'C:\c\est\base'. How can I solve this problem?

    Jorge,
I know there were some problems with the LabVIEW 5.1 Application Builder that were fixed in the LabVIEW 5.1.1 Updater. I recommend you download that update to see if this fixes the problem. Also, double-check to make sure you have typed the file paths correctly. If you continue to have problems after installing the 5.1.1 updater, please let me know, and please attach your .bld file so I can examine it for any problems.
Thanks for your patience on this issue, and have a pleasant day.

  • Can i turn an imovie project into an Mpeg file to work on a Windows System?

Hi is there a way of turning an iMovie production into a standard MPeg format to play on windows operating system???

Once i have created and imovie project i am needing to turn it into an bog standard MPeg that will play within a powerpoint presentation supported by windows media player .mov .avi etc don't work not very techy... The only way i have managed to do this so far is to create a dvd then turn it into MPeg using pinnacle on a windows system but i lose a vast amount of quality
I was saying that if you have the right software you can create MPG, MPEG (MPEG2/MPEG-1, layered audio), M2V/AIFF paired elementary stream clips, VOB (MPEG2/AC3 or MPEG2/PCM), TS MPEG-2 stream files, etc., and you would need decide on which typr of file you wanted. If you want VOB with MPEG2/PCM content, then let iDVD image a file and all you have to do is copy the VOB(s) from the image,

  • NI-Fieldpoint support in Windows 7 and LabView 8.6

We have a "classic" FieldPoint system with an ethernet controller. We want to be able to read/write from/to the FieldPoint network using a computer with LabView 8.6 and Window 7. Is NI-FieldPoint supported in LabView 8.6 and Windows 7?
    Regards,
    nate
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    Hi natewkidd,
I feel like there is some confusion between the operating systems running on a development machine (like Windows 7) and the real-time operating systems that run on our real-time controllers (like the FP-2000). I will do my best to clear up this confusion by first answering your questions.
    1) What is the difference between LabView Real-Time 2009 and LabView 2009?
LabVIEW Real-Time 2009 is actually a software package officially known as the LabVIEW 2009 Real-Time Module that is installed after the LabVIEW 2009 development software to allow the user to develop and deploy real-time applications to real-time targets such as your FP-2000. You can think of the LabVIEW 2009 Real-Time Module almost as a plug-in for LabVIEW 2009 to allow for real-time application development and deployment.
    2) If I have a FP-2000 on the ethernet network and want to use a computer running Windows 7 and LabView 2009 to record and display data, will I still be able to communicate with the FieldPoint network using the FieldPoint Read/Write VIs from my Windows 7 machine?
If you were just going to use the FP-2000 as a network module (NOT deploying a real-time application to run on the FP-2000 itself), you should be able to communicate with it using just the FieldPoint Read/Write VIs from your Windows 7 machine with LabVIEW 2009 and the NI-FieldPoint 6.0.5 driver. In this situation, you actually do not need the Real-Time Module since you are not deploying the application to the real-time target.
Regarding the FP-2000 not being supported beyond LabVIEW 8.5.1, this is because the memory on the controller is not large enough to hold the software that is installed on the controller with LabVIEW 8.6.x Real-Time Module and the LabVIEW 2009 Real-Time Module. For more information on this please check out this KnowledgeBase article.
I hope this is helpful! Let me know if you have any further questions.
Thank you for choosing National Instruments.

Hello i am using TimeMachine to back-up entire Mac image (data + system) on an usb-local drive. I would like (on top of it) add a specific plan to back up some files on a remote network drive. Does TimeMachine support multiple back-up plans ? How ?

Time Machine is capable of backing up to multiple locations, and can be used to back up to both a local hard drive and a networked drive (provided that that drive is in or connected to a Time Capsule or another Mac that is sharing it over the network). The catch, though, is that you can't specify different things to back up to different destinations. Whatever you exclude from Time Machine backups is excluded from ALL backups, and whatever is included is included on all.
So, get a large enough drive that you can back up everything you want in all locations, or use something else for maintaining the network backup.

  • How can I handle deploying multiple test systems on the same PC that have been developed using different versions of LabVIEW, TestStand, and/or Switch Executive?

The major issue here is that the test systems must be documented and validated before being released to the production floor. Given this if a test station has multiple test systems deployed on it that have been developed on various versions of LV, TS, and Switch exec how can I force the test system selected to use the correct versions of TS, LV, and Switch exec.? I understand that the solution would be to recomplie everything and bring them up to the latest version but that would then require re-validation according to the QA department. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
It would be nice if theTS deployment was more like an LV executable... meaning when a LV executable is launched it always knows what LV runtime engine to use when there are multiple engines installed on a PC.

    Hi,
Multiply versions of teststand can reside on the same system, but only one version can run at a time. They is a utility that has to be run to set the active version.
The SequenceFiles have a version number, and you will find an error will be generate if you try to Load the sequencefile in the wrong version of TestStand.
The labview VIs will only work providing the correct version of the RTE is also installed on your system, even a labview executabe requires the correct RTE to be installed, either as part of the executable installation or as a seperate installation, before the labview exe will work correctly.
I'm not fimilar with the Switch exec but I would expect that it will also require the correct lower level device drivers to be available for the version you are using.
Therefore, as you are indicating that some of your system are at  a older version, its difficult to image how you could achive this, considering if you say you have different versions of the software(s). For a start, you may have the problem that newer code/ sequencefiles using additional functionatily not available in the older versions.
I would think your only solution would  be to have different deployments covering the different versions you have, or at least bring all your test systems up to the same version of teststand.

  • How is it best to develope a multiple window (front panel) application in LabVIEW?

I have only been using LabVIEW for a couple months so keep this in mind while I ask this question.
I have been testing out multiple ways of developing a application using multiple windows and passing data between them, in LabVIEW. I am not sure how to best do this. First (See attached TestApp1.0) I used the Open VI.vi to open and close the VIs as I wanted to use them. This worked well I could have multiple windows open at once and could easily pass data to them by simply laying the VI in the main while loop. The draw back was it required polling and lots of extra logic to open and close the different VIs.
Next I used the event loop ( see TestApp2.0)and eliminat
ed the use of Open VI by simply laying the VIs into the event loop and selecting them to display front panel when called. The draw back to this was I could only have one window opened at a time, and since I had to put the SubVIs in loops I could not pass data easily from another form to it while it was running.
Finally, I have seen examples using a VI server. This looks much more complex and I am not sure if it would be worth the time figuring it out.
Does anyone have any suggestions for what the best way to design this type of application is? Am I missing something?

    Hello NIBOUND,
I looked into your "Method 1"-files. That's roughly
the way I would do this, but I changed the files a
    little bit.
The subform2 (input of data) is now only called when
the user wants to input some data. I changed the
window setting to "Open when called" and "Close after
run". The other vi subform1 runs the whole time in
your main loop. Is this wanted? If not, then you can
change it to the same behaviour as subform2...
