Do package data sources update all connected connection managers automatically?

I converted a big project from SSIS2008 -> SSIS2014
During conversion i also erased all connection managers and recreated them based on the packages data sources.
Now i want to test my packages on another server , so i changed my 2 data sources only.
When i open the packages can see on the connectionstring the old server.
If i dont do anything else and press start, what will happen?
Will the package update itself automatically and get the connection string of the data source or not?
Elias

Hi Elias,
If file or database in the connection string for old server can be accessed from remote server and we have access to that file or database in the connection string, then we can execute the package very well. For example, there is an OLE DB Connection
Manager that connect to a database from old server. If we have access to that database in new server, then we can still connect to that database. Please notice that the connection string is still the original one, it couldn’t update itself automatically.
If we want it connect to another one, we should manually change the connection string. Unless we are using a localhost file or database and they also existing in the new server, they can update to new server automatically.
Thanks,
Katherine Xiong

  • Creating new Data Source Error - Database connection Failed

Successfully installed and configured 11.1.1.3.0. Planning and Essbase dev.
Went to Workspace > Administer > Classing Planning Administration > Manage Data Sources > Create Data Source.
Entered all info about the application database , etc. Getting error "The database connection failed" (I was able to connect with no problem during the install)
SQL server 2005 is on the same physical server.
The diagnostic tool shows database connection passed for planning. A new database was created for the new application.
The server event viewer shows these errors.
"Login failed for user 'xxx-hyperion'. The user is not associated with a trusted SQL Server connection."

The Group Policy client-side extension Group Policy Services failed to execute. Please look for any errors reported earlier by that extension.
    Any help is appreciated.

    Datasource for the application.
I have created a sql db for this planning application (my datasource). See my first message for more details.
When you create a new planning application, you need to associate it with a data source. Since this is a new install, I don't have any data sources available yet.
So, "To create, edit or delete data sources, click Manage Data Source."
This page lets you validate your connection to the database and essbase server. My essbase server connection validates! The database connection does not validate after I enter all the relevant information.

  • Object Data Source and oracle connections.-Help please!!

I have a detailsview with objectdatasource as a Data source.
Every time, i Edit and save a row in the detailsview, upto 10 connections are created to Oracle. And because of this maximum no of connections is reached quickly.
I am closing/disposing the connection object in the update method.
What could be causing this behaviour?
Need help immediatley. Appreciate your time.
    -Thanks.

That helpes quite a bit. I still can't get the app to retrieve data, but I am getting a more useful message in the log:
[Error in allocating a connection. Cause: Connection could not be allocated because: ORA-01017: invalid username/password; logon denied]
As you suggested, I removed the <default-resource-principal> stuff from sun-web.xml and modified it to match your example. Additionally, I changed the <res-ref-name> in web.xml from "jdbc/jdbc-simple" to "jdbc/oracle-dev".
The Connection Pool "Ping" from the Admin Console is successful with the user and password I have set in the parameters. (it fails if I change them, so I am pretty sure that is set up correctly) Is there another place I should check for user/pass information? Do I need to do anything to the samples/database.properties file?
By the way, this is the 4th quarter 2004 release of app server. Would it be beneficial to move to the Q1 2005 beta?
Many thanks for your help so far...

  • Error creating a new Data Source for Oracle connection

I'm trying to create a new data source connection to our
Oracle 10gR2 server using ColdFusion Administrator 6.1 Standard on
    a Windows 2003 server.
I created a System DSN ODBC connection for Oracle. I can use
the ODBC connection when connecting an Access db to Oracle but when
I try to use it w/ ColdFusion Admin it generates the following
    error message:
Connection verification failed for data source: sitest2
    []java.sql.SQLException: [Macromedia][SequeLink JDBC
    Driver][ODBC Socket]internal error:
    Driver's SQLAllocHandle on SQL_HANDLE_ENV failed
The root cause was that: java.sql.SQLException:
    [Macromedia][SequeLink JDBC Driver][ODBC Socket]internal error:
    Driver's SQLAllocHandle on SQL_HANDLE_ENV failed
Any help or recommendations would be greatly appreciated.
    Tina

The schema/user is system and the password is alpha-numeric, upper/lower case, no special char ...
As a workaround I was able to add the password to the entry in the datasources.xml file and restarted BI Pub.
The JDBC is working ... I can test the connection successfully ... just wont save the entry

  • "An error occured querying a data source" - Web Service connecting to GetUserCollectionFromGroupSupport

I have an infopath form that is getting the error when opening an existing form or creating a new form:-
    Warning
An error occurred querying a data source.
Click OK to resume filling out the form. You may want to check your form data for errors.
    Hide error details
An error occurred while trying to connect to a Web service.
    Correlation ID:7ab6be2c-60e1-4025-be1e-1a2fbe00acd3
So I know its a permission issue because full control users have no problem.  I have found a suggestion here suggesting making sure the group has "Who can View Membership to the Group" but that didn't work for me - and
my test user is only a member of one group -
    http://sharepoint.stackexchange.com/questions/109488/usergroup-asmx-returns-unauthorized-for-some-groups
How can I get around this without provding users Full Control?

So I fixed this with exactly what I mentioned above by adding "everyone" "Who can View Membership to the Group" permission.  My error initially was that I was looking at the incorrect security group.

  • How can I use Data Source Explorer to connect soap service with my work manager project?

    Hello,
I am new in Agentry and I want to Consume soap service in work manager project. For that I add my service in data source explorer but I dont have any Idea that how can I go further in that to use this service in my project.

Are you consuming OData service or SOAP service ?  Your heading says something but looking at screen it is OData service.
I have not worked on OData service in Agentry but hopefully you can figure out rest of the steps:-
Here are some high level steps you can follow  depending on what your trying to do.
    1. Open "Data Source Explorer" view->Eclipse, select "Window/Show View/Other->"Data Management/Data Source Explorer"
    2. On "Data Source Explorer" view, ->"OData Connections"->right click and select "New...
    3. Enter name of the connection profile.
    4. Enter Service URI of in OData Connection Details
    5. After "Test Connection", press "Finish" or click "Next" to view Summary.
    6. Right click "Yourproject" node under "OData Connection", select connection. You will see "Entities"
    7. Expand "ODataEntities", right click "Entityset", select "Agentry: Connector Studio\Object Wizard for OData".
    8. Select a module to add odata connection, click "Next"; and click "Next"; and click "Next"
    9. Check "Add", "Edit" and "Delete" on "Transaction Selection" screen.
    10. Create your own screenset and platform as required.
    11. Test the changes.

  • Security settings for Packages Data Source

    Hello,
Can someone please help me or address me to some technical advise  about the way to configure the security options of a folder designed as a Data Source for Packages (or OS Images)  to work with SCCM 2012? I'm having a lot of troubles in distributing
content from network shares (access denied and the like).
I've set up the Security Options for Data Source folder so that they inlcude full control for:
    any SCCM admin user
    site server computer account
    distribution point computer account
what else should I put in?
    Thank you very much!

  • Automatic data source updating in Indesign

Is there any way to update the data source (.csv) file automatically in Indesign after making changes to the csv file?

Well, maybe sort of possible, kind of. Data Merge is supposed to be able to update after a change to the data file if the merge fields are on the master page, if I remember correctly, but I think it's a little buggy, and you do have to tell ID to do the update.

  • Using XML Publisher with plsql package data source?

    Hi,
I have a html gantt chart which i create using a plsql package and the use of the htp.p procedure for output to a webpage.
I want to be able to print this to PDF and was hoping the XML Publisher may be an option for doing this. The datasource for this however seems to be a sql query or XML feed.
Can anyone provide any suggestions on this??

With a Pipelined Table Function you can use a function in your FROM-clause (so you'll have a normal SELECT, but in the background the data comes from a PL/SQL-function):
    SELECT * FROM TABLE( <function_name> )

  • Using several data connections in one SSIS data source?

I am loading data from several SQL Server 2012 databases into a datamart. Currently, I am simply using sql sources and destinations for that. However, some of the queries require JOINs between the source databases. Therefore I currently refer to the databases
within the command text of the sql source, e.g.
        SELECT t1.Field, t2.Field
        FROM [server1].[db1].[dbo].[table1] t1
        JOIN [server1].[db2].[dbo].[table1] t2 ON t1.Table1Id = t2.RemoteTable1Id;
This is flawed, since all the sql commands have to be changed if the database or server names change. It would be far better to refer to connections which can be changed on package level and my question is how to get that done.
One way I can think of to get that done is to use several sql source queries and join the data with SSIS join operations. For that all current data flows need to be reworked and I am unsure about the performance when joining large databases compared to the
performance of a single t-sql query.
The other approach would be some dynamic sql stuff which I want to avoid whenever possible. However, if it was possible to use a parameter to insert server/database into the sql command somehow, then that could be an option.

Whatever you're doing now is a bad practice inside SSIS. You should be using data flow tasks for this if data come from different sources and use connection managers pointing to each of them. You add these connection properties as config items which will
enable you to change them from outside package based on your environment
If performance is your concern you can go for staging approach where you bring deltas(changes) alone on daily basis and then use it in the comparisons with destination tables using MERGE or T-SQL for set based processing. You need to have audit columns in
    your tables for this though.

  • Connection/data source caching in JSC App Server?

Tried to change the data source for one of my apps (changed all data sources on all row sets). I got a connection error despite the fact that the IDE could see the data source.
I restarted the app server to no avail.
I finally stopped the app server AND restarted JSC and eveything started working again (except for the Conversion error I'm tracking down :-) ...

Did the connection error occur at runtime ?
If so, then it's not recommended to change the datasource
especially if you change databases. It's not impossible to make
the changes - you need to edit the Page bean constructor and the
constructor in the SessionBean and anywhere else you
initialize the rowset with the URL.
If you changed the database, then because vendors
map JDBC types differently, you may need to make
changes . Typically you'll see conversion errors when changing
    the database.

  • Error -25596 when trying to connect to use the Informix Online Server native data source

    Hi All,
We currently use a very old version on crystal (v9) and have recently downloaded the current version (14.1.1.1036) in order to investigate the effort involved in upgrading.
In the past we have always connected to our IBM Informix Server using the native Crystal Reports Informix Online Server data source, but all attempts with the current version of Crystal Reports are failing with error -25596.
The error is reported by Informix and it has this description:
-25596  The INFORMIXSERVER value is not listed in the sqlhosts file or the
    Registry.
The default database server name that the INFORMIXSERVER environment
variable specifies must be a valid database server name in the file
$INFORMIXDIR/etc/sqlhosts on UNIX or the registry on Windows. Check
that the specified server is listed in the sqlhosts file or the
    registry.
However, I'm of the opinion that the server is known and is configured OK (it's configured using the Informix SetNet32 application and it has resulted in this registry key being populated:HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Informix\SqlHosts\prod1_devdb1 (NB: prod1_devdb1 is the name of the server I am trying to connect to).
I can create ODBC datasources on my PC and they work OK.  I can also run our legacy VB6 application (using the Crystal 9 COM objects) and connect using the native drivers to the Informix database.
My PC is running 64 bit Windows 7 Enterprise (fully patched).  Our Informix server is version 11.7 running on a SUSE server.
Any suggestions for where to start looking to solve this?

  • Setting up an ODBC data source to connect to BerkleyDB

How can I set up an ODBC data source (DSN) to connect to BerkleyDB. I installed Berkeley DB 11gR2 (11.2.5.0.21) on Windows XP 32-bit and I can see the sqlite3odbc.dll in the installation bin folder but there seems to be no BerkleyDB ODBC driver listed in Windows ODBC Adminstrator app

    Hi,
I'm afraid that we don't ship an installer with our initial release. It is possible to install manually, but it requires making some changes to the source code, building the ODBC driver and installing manually.
    The steps are as follows:
<li>Edit the file db-5.0.21/sql/odbc/sqlite3odbc.c at line 15919 change "drivername" and "dsname" variables to contain the driver strings you would like to use.
<li>Follow the instructions to build the dll in the install guide here: http://www.oracle.com/technology/documentation/berkeley-db/db/installation/build_win_sql.html#id3371140. NOTE: You only want to follow the build steps here, not the configure or install steps.
<li> Once you have built the sqlite3odbc.dll file, you'll need to follow the manual install steps defined in the README here: http://www.ch-werner.de/sqliteodbc/README . Search for the section titled Win32 install/remove/shell by RUNDLL32
I hope this helps, let me know if you need further information.
    Regards,
    Alex Gorrod, Oracle Berkeley DB

  • SharePoint Designer - Data Source Details doesn't show all Managed Metadata Columns

    Hello all,
I've an issue with SharePoint Designer in combination with managed metadata columns.
I use content type which uses it total 7 managed meta data (site) columns and additional 20 columns for data.
I use a dataview and I'm aligning the XSLT for the display of the data.
In the Data Source Details all other columns will be displayed but from the managed metadata columns 3 columns are missing, they are not shown. So it seems impossible to me to access the data in the XSLT.
During my investigations i've found out that the columns will be displayed if I change the DataSourceMode="List" to DataSourceMode="ListItems". Nevertheless, the missing columns are still empty even they should contain data.
Do you have any idea what causes the issue?
It seems like there is a restriction in SharePoint Designer 2010 and/or SharePoint 2010 with regards to the count for the use of managed metadata columns.
Would appreciate any help and idea.
    Thanks in advance,
    Stefan

  • 903/902/BC4J can't get data-sources.xml conn pooling to work in production; help

I have several BC4J ears deployed to a 903 instance of OC4J being configured as a standalone
instance. I've had this problem since I started deploying in development on 902. So it's
some basic problem that I've not mastered.
I can't get data-sources.xml managed connection pooling to actually pool conn's. I'm wanting
to declare my jndi jdbc source connection pool in j2ee/home/config/data-sources.xml.
Have all BC4J apps get conns from this JNDI JDBC pool. I've removed all data-sources.xml from my BC4J ears,
and published the jndi jdbc source in my oc4j common data-sources.xml. I've tested that this is
the place controlling the conn URL/login passwd by commenting it out of config/data-sources.xml
and my BC4J apps then throw exceptions, can't get conn.
I've set the oc4j startup cmd line with the BC4J property to enabled connection pooling:
    -Djbo.doconnectionpooling=true
    symptom
Connections are created and closed. Instead of being put back into the pool managed by oc4j,
what ever BC4J is doing or my data-sources.xml is doing, the connections are just being created and
    closed.
I can verify this via (solaris) lsof and netstat, where I see my oc4j instance under test load
with only 1 or 2 conns to the db box, and the ephemeral port is tumbling, meaning a new socket is
being opened for each conn. ;( grrrrrrr
Does anyone have a clue as to why this is happening?
    Thanks, curt
    my data-sources.xml
    <data-sources>
         <data-source
            class="com.evermind.sql.DriverManagerDataSource"
            connection-driver="oracle.jdbc.driver.OracleDriver"
            ejb-location="jdbc/DEVDS"
            location="jdbc/DEVCoreDS"
            name="DEVDS"
            password="j2train"
            pooled-location="jdbc/DEVPooledDS"
            url="jdbc:oracle:thin:@10.2.1.30:1521:GDOC"
            username="jscribe"
            xa-location="jdbc/xa/DEVXADS"
            inactivity-timeout="300"
            max-connections="50"
            min-connections="40"
        />
    </data-sources>

I've run another test using local data-source.xml, that's packaged in the .ear. Still
    pooling under BC4J doesn't work??
A piece of info is that the 903 oc4j release notes states that global conn pooling doesn't
work. Infering that the j2ee/home/config/data-sources.xml data sources aren't pooled or ??
I just tested so called local connection pooling, where I edited the data-sources.xml that
gets packaged in the ear, to include the min/max params and re-ran my test.
Still, the AM creates a new conn, it's to a new socket, and closes the conn when done. Causing
each conn to not be pooled, rather opened then closed to the DB box. As verified with lsof and
netstat, checking the ephemeral port # on the DB box side, always changes, meaning it's a
new socket and not an old pooled conn socket.
    ???? What the heck??
Surely if the AM conn check out / return code works properly, OC4J's pooling JDBC driver would
pool and not close the socket??
Has anywone gotten JDBC Datasource connections in BC4J to actually be pooled under OC4J??
Since I couldn't get this to work in my early 902 oc4j testing, and now can't get it to work
    still under 903 OC4J, either it's my config or BC4J AM's code or OC4J?
Any thoughts on how to figure out what's not configed correctly or has a bug?
    Thanks, curt
