Do publishers need to be paused/stopped before entering a new room?
In our application, a WebcamPublisher and an AudioPublisher are used by each client in the room. When the client moves into a new room, we have experienced certain issues with the video. Is it necessary to stop publication, or is logging out of the ConnectSessionContainer totally sufficient to prepare the publishers for publication in the next room?

I would back up anything you don't want to lose. Chances are, you wont' lose a thing.....but backups are always nice to have.

However, I tried again, and also removed the couple of actions I'd had in ~/Library/Automator. Success! Just for good measure, I tried putting the actions back and restoring the old preferences file, and everything still worked. Huh. But that's the nature of these things, I guess. Playing a mp3, how do i pause / stop?
I will start out, saying that I've never written my own thread before, and I'm extremely novice in that area. But I found some code for playing an mp3, that's going to be invoked from a JLayeredPane(that i used to make a little animation sequence.) I can't figure out how to stop the player without calling stop on the thread which is apparently depreciated. Might be off this forums area, but from my swing component, should I be calling this thread with invoke? or invoke and wait. this thread doesn't need access to the swing component, but from the swing thread, I want to be able to stop the player. }You just need to write a stop and a pause function as part of the MP3 class, and make sure it's a syncronized function (if you don't know what this means, look up the Java keyword syncronized).

How do i pause/stop something running in the background?
I'll try to give as many details as I can:
I am using an auto clicker program (quick keys x), and I copied and pasted 150 or so of the same mouse recording, each lasting around 5 minutes. I want them to run, but I need to know how to pause them whenever. I didn't change any of the hot key options or anything. The program that is up and running (that I see listed in the top left corner) is google chrome. I want that to stay up while the auto clicker is running. The top right has a thing with a Q, pause symbol, and a stop symbol. That's where it's running, and I want to know how to pause that (or stop if neccesary) without closing google chrome at all.
If you have any questions on the situation, please ask, I need all the help I can get!
Thanks!I usually just kill the process. If I know a specific app is running in the background, say "iPhoto", and I can't close it normally, I open a terminal and type:
ps -A | grep iPhoto
then i kill the proccess id with:
kill -9 ###
where ### is the process id. you might need to add a sudo before that if root access is required:
sudo kill -9 ### -
How do I prevent the playhead from returning to it's original position after pausing or stopping with the spacebar or k button? With either the skimmer on or off, whenever I pause or stop the **** playhead will always return to the position it was last at. I don't understand why neither of the shortcuts would just stop the playhead at the point that is being played at. This may seem like an extremely edgy way to go about editing, but I might actually wish to pause the playhead at any given moment and position my playhead nearby said moment before creating an edit point (without having to add a marker and return to it with the blade tool, or take note of the specific duration and use the duration control to go to that specific point or any other unnecessary steps when doing a rough cut). I simply would like the playhead to pause/stop at the moment I press either keyboard shortcut. After the many attempts at trying to make FCP X work for me and the many "workarounds" by FCPX enthusiasts, it's disheartening to know that most other editors in my circle who make a living doing paid commercial work are wondering why I've decided to take a break from using CS6 (and it's integration with the industry-standard AE) to give FCP X a shot, all to make very simple tasks like the one aforementioned a mystery... any help in this matter would be greatly appreciated.

Yes i've trashed my preferences, but I should be more specific as to what I am actually doing. Because I am working from my macbook pro and do not have a "home button" which was the original shortcut to "play from/go to beginning" and because I did not like the replacement shortcut in FCP X to play from beginning (without a home button it was something like Function + Shift something else on a laptop) I became used to Adobe Premiere CS6 and made the return key my "play from beginning" shortcut. It was available and did not have a use by itself (only to confirm changes/choices), did not effect it's use in conjunction with other shorctus so I choose enter as my "play from/go to beginning"...
So when I play from the beginning and attempt to pause or stop the playhead, regardless of how I choose to do it (spacebar or k) it does not stop at that specific instance and always returns to where it previously was. This seems very confusing and inconvenient, I would hope at least one of these shortcuts would actually stop the playhead where it was at that moment where I press stop or pause. It's extremely frustrating knowing that I cannot pause the playhead where it's playing if I choose my "play from beginning" shortcut.
Also since you seem to be a guru and an expert, i'd like to know if you cut with FCPX on a laptop and what shortcut you use whenever you'd like the playhead to go to the beginning of the timeline, end, etc since there are no "home" or "end" buttons on a laptop....

I'm having a billing issue with my apple id. I got my first iPhone today and I've signe din etc however before i can download any apps etc i need to resolve an old payment apparently. The problem is i cant enter my new card details because the issue is registered to when i was in America and i require to pay the funds from an American source. Any ideas how i can resolve this? It wont accept my new card detail as im back in the UK. I think i have posted this in the wrong area but anyone got any ideas?

I tried to update my iPhone 4S but I now keep getting an error saying I need to restore my phone before it can be used because it's in recovery mode! But if I restore it I lose all my media and data and I don't want to do that! Is there anything I can do?? Somone please help, i'm freaking out over here!
Anything that was on the phone is already gone. You have no choice but to restore. If you were backing up and syncing the phone on a regular basis, you should be able to restore your backup with minimal data loss.

Old computer died and I am trying to install Illustrator CS5 on new computer.
Last version I had before CS5 was/is Illustrator 10,which has been installed on new computer.
CS5 install says I need CS2,3 or 4 before installing 5, but old computer went directly from 10 to CS5.
How can I repeat this 10 to CS5 install?It does not seem likely that CS6 was upgraded from version 10. You might want to check your purchase history in your Adobe account to see if there is some missing link in the chain of purchases you made.

The latest OS X version is OS X 10.8.3, so first check that you can use OS X Mountain Lion. First, check that your Mac supports Mountain Lion > http://www.apple.com/osx/specs If it's compatible, open the App Store and purchase Mountain Lion. When the download finishes, the OS X installer will appear, so follow the steps. After upgrading, you will have 10.8.3.

iTunes has detected an iPod that appears to be corrupted. You may need to restore this iPod before it can be used with iTunes. You may also try disconnecting and reconnecting the iPod.Sounds like your iPod is broken. Take it to Apple or someone else who repairs iPods and see if you can get it fixed, or get it replaced.

I am working with a client who is attempting to backup to a NAS device
The device is a linksys NSS6000 (Cisco device).
It’s a dual 1Gbit LAN device that supports CIFS / FTP and NFS transfers. It has only 1Gbit lan connected.
The device has 4 * 500 gb sata drives in raid 1 attached.
Cables go from cat 5 to fiber back to cat5. (The NAS is located at a neighboring office) The switches are 1gbit.
Server is a win2k8r1 fully up to date.
When backing up to the NAS device, the following error occurs:
Running backup of volume Local Disk(D:), copied (86%).
Running backup of volume Local Disk(D:), copied (90%).
Running backup of volume Local Disk(D:), copied (94%).
Running backup of volume Local Disk(D:), copied (98%).
Backup of volume Local Disk(D:) completed successfully.
Backup stopped before completing.
Summary of backup:
Backup stopped before completing.
The process cannot access the file because it is being used by another process.
If we redirect the backup to a folder on a 2008 share, the backup completes successfully.
Only when backing up to the linksys NSS6000 does the error occur.
No other backup processes are writing to the NAS device so I can't understand why the process thinks the file is
being used by another process.
One thing we did notice that when the backup to the NAS device occurs, throughput is about 150 mbit average
On the 2008 server shares we successfully backup to, the through put is 500 mbit. Not sure if that is important, but
might be worth mentioning.
The following event log entry was noted at the end of the backup.
The description for Event ID '519' in Source 'Microsoft-Windows-Backup' cannot be found.
The local computer may not have the necessary registry information or message DLL files to display the message,
or you may not have permission to access them. The following information is part of the
event:'2009-05-12T10:13:31.617Z', '', '2147942432', '%%2147942432'

Itunes and Ipod Classic stop before song ends after transfer to new computer
I purchased a new Windows 7 computer and transferred my library from my XP computer.
I restored my library and all seemed well with the world.
I synched my IPod classic 120GB with over 8000 songs.
I was listening to the IPOD on my docking station when I started noticing that songs would just stop before the end of the song.
I thought my 120GB Ipod was dying, so I purchased a new 160GB.
The problem continued.
I then listened to them on the new computer in Itunes and they did not completely stop, they just skipped to the next track at the same place as it froze on my IPOD.
I listened to the same song on my old computer through Itunes and it played correctly.
I have do not have the Itunes Match and the songs that I currently know that have the problem were purchased on Itunes.
Any suggestions as how to resolve the issue?I would try copying over the tracks from your XP computer again as the files from the first transfer may be corrupted.
