Document Conversion Problem

We're trying to convert a FrameMaker 10 book to a PDF file and only in one section of the document graphics are randomly being left out.  Adobe leaves a space where the graphic should be.  And in one instance, it even left the arrows pointing to the different items but the rest of the graphic was missing.  We've tried just converting that one section to later be able to add it back in by Adobe Pro thinking the file size might be the issue - no joy.  We've tried copying the file into FrameMaker vice having it as a link to the document - no joy.  We've tried changing the printer (and therefore the printer drivers) we use during the conversion process thinking it was a printer driver/memory problem - no joy.  Finally, we tried putting the file on the hard drive vice the server - no joy.  Graphics are still being left out from just that one section of the document.  It wasn't even the same graphics each time (some changed, most stayed the same).  The graphics are CGM files.  Not sure if that has anything to do with it.  But, we don't see anything else in common with the graphics other than they're just coming from one section of the document.  Other sections of the document have even larger graphics (file size) in it.  Would anyone have any suggestions?  I tried putting my work email address in here and it said that someone was already using it (unlikely) but never-the-less, I had to resort to using my personal email to obtain an account.  Unfortunately, I am unable to get messages back from my personal account at work.  If you have a suggestion, please email me at [email protected]  Thank you.

> Not sure what a CMYK is, but I don't believe so.
Cyan-Magenta-Yellow-Key, the color model used for color printing (and which is problematic in FM10, and on Windows generally).
Even if the artwork is monochrome, the file could easily be tagged with a color model (CYMK or RGB).
If the line art is vector, I'd suggest opening a CGM in Adobe Illustrator, check/convert the color model (to Gray or RGB), and re-save as EPS.
If the line art is raster, find out what resolution, and do the same with PhotoShop.
Is this a new document, or did these CGMs work in some prior version of Frame, or on another platform (like Unix or Mac)?

  • PDF to Word Document Conversion Problem

    I am trying to convert a 37-page PDF document (less than 100 MB) into a .docx Word document using my paid subscription to Adobe ExportPDF.  The program makes the conversion, only into a  1-page document with the following message:
    "To view the full contents of this document, you need a later version of the PDF viewer. You can upgrade to the latest version of Adobe Reader from www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/readstep2.html
    For further support, go to www.adobe.com/support/products/acrreader.html"
    Can you help me figure out why this is happening?  There is no password on the PDF document.   In security settings I see that content copying is "allowed" and page extraction is set to "not allowed".  Could that be contributing to the problem?  Is there a way around this to be able to convert this document?

    Hi Maggie,
    The error message you were receiving occurs when you try to convert a dynamic PDF file created with Adobe LiveCycle Designer.  This file is usually already a fillable form.  Unfortunately there is no workaround available for converting documents like this within the ExportPDF service.
    I'm sorry for the inconvenience.
    Please let me know if you have any questions or if I can be of further assistance.

    System.out.println(document);
    Hi Prabu,
    This is not the way you can print a DOM Document. You can do it using Transformer:
    String xml = "<?xml version=\"1.0\" encoding=\"UTF-8\"?><DATA>sample</DATA>"; // xml to convert
    DocumentBuilderFactory factory = DocumentBuilderFactory.newInstance();
    DocumentBuilder builder = factory.newDocumentBuilder();
    Document document = builder.parse(new InputSource(new StringReader(xml)));
    //Wong Way of printing a DOM Document. this equal to Object.toString(), Which is of no use for you.
    System.out.println(document); // It will just print: [#document: null]
    // Using Transformer to print DOM Document
    Transformer transformer = TransformerFactory.newInstance().newTransformer();
    Source source = new DOMSource(document);
    Result output = new StreamResult(System.out);
    transformer.transform(source, output); // This will print: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?><DATA>sample</DATA>*Cheers,

  • Dreamweaver cc html entity conversion problem in mac -NO utf-8 related answer please

    I probably am fighting against a bug existing in DW for a while, and i'm really on the edge of bursting out!
    Here are the specifications:
    Dreamweaver CC from creative cloud (also tested w/ CS5.5 too) installed on mac, OS and DW user interfaces are english, and on mac turkish keyboard layout is also installed.
    I have been using DW for maybe 15 years, since it was macromedia.. But was always on windows. This is the first time I use it on mac. Here is my problem step by step:
    1- Dreamweaver > Pereferences > New Document > Default Encoding: Western (ISO Latin 1) (NOT UTF-8 PLEASE, IT KEEPS THE CHARS UNCHANGED, ISO LATIN1 IS IMPORTANT)
    2- Go to Design View,
    3- There are 6 special characters in Turkish (times 2 for the caps versions of course), type:
    ĞÜŞİÖÇğüşıöç
    4- Go back to code view, what i should have seen was:
    &#286;&Uuml;&#350;&#304;&Ouml;&Ccedil;&#287;&uuml;&#351;&#305;&ouml;&ccedil;
    But I see:
    Ğ&Uuml;Şİ&Ouml;&Ccedil;ğ&uuml;şı&ouml;&ccedil;
    There are 3 chars (and capital versions) NOT converted to html entity at all. Which were: ĞŞİğşı
    But I should have seen them as: &#286;&#350;&#304;&#287;&#351;&#305;
    Any help would be appreciated, I do not want to leave my old friend DW just because of a weird conversion problem...

    Ok, when you look at the code view, what do you see exactly?
    do you see unconverted
    ĞÜŞİÖÇğüşıöç
    or converted
    &#286;&Uuml;&#350;&#304;&Ouml;&Ccedil;&#287;&uuml;&#351;&#305;&ouml;&ccedil;
    Here is one of my reasons:
    I sometimes create newsletters in turkish for my customers, and the html files i prepare are sent to customers attached as inline through various versions of outlook or thunderbird, or through i completely different email sender company (none is sent by me, i only create the html file). And most of the time the headers and some coding are cut off from the code when used to send as newsletter, and i have no control at all on it. so i have to create absolute correct viewed/rendered html files since i have no control at all on which sending method will be used or which os or browser or mail system will be used to open it...

  • We are getting faxes with 812 error - "Document conversion failed" in SOST

    Hi
    We are getting faxes with an 812 error - "Document conversion failed" in transaction SOST. The user is sometimes able to fax the number successfully, but other times fails - it is not consistent.
    The conversion rules seem to be set up correctly, indeed, on a resubmit this often (but not always) works, so I don't think this is down to the conversion rules.
    Is it a problem at the SAP side or the receiving system?
    We enabled a trace but on analysis the only step that appears to be different in the failing ones is:
    Status "Fehler" am Sendeauftrag gesetzt
    Which I believe roughly translates that it failed to send - but why, and where can I find more detail?
    Thanks
    Ross

    I also noticed in the trace that the faxes that work have the following lines:
    Determined device type: POST2. OTF Device Type POST2
    Format conversion from OTF to PS With Device Type POST2
    Converting OTF to PS
    Whereas the ones that have failed say:
    Determined device type: PDF1. OTF Device Type PDF1
    Format conversion from OTF to PDF
    Conversion rules for this country PL (Poland) and 'blanks' in order of prioroty are:
    PDF                   S  POST2
    PDF  PL  Polish  S  ID2PDF
    PS                          POST2
    PS  PL  Polish   S  I2SPOST
    Is that correct?

  • Updated workspace data causes document conversion?

    I have some preference data stored in the workspace database which I've recently added to. I've changed the version number and added a schema converter in the .fr file and have noticed that when opening documents saved while the old plug-in was installed they have the  "[Converted]" status and need to be re-saved (using save-as)  I'm assuming that ID is seeing the newer plug-in version ID and running its document conversion routine, but since only the workspace database is modified I wouldn't expect the document would actually need to be marked as converted.
    This is causing some confusion and annoyance among people testing the plug-in, so I'm wondering how others deal with versioning workspace data. Do you just leave the plug-in version alone when making changes to the schema? I've tried that and it seems to work, but I'm not sure how safe it is or if it will cause problems later on. Seems that the best way to handle things might be to just store your preference data as an XML or JSON string and bypass ID's versioning system.

    When you extract the data from the form it is already XML.....or it should be. I do not use ProcessFormSubmission .... there is an easier way - under Common/Form Data Integration there is an Export Data service that will take your form as input and create a document that contains your data as output. You can then use a setValue to change the doc object into an xml object (doc object on right, xml object on left). Once it is xml you will need to see what the format is so either write it out or dump it to the log. Ultimately you want to get down to the forms root node and set that and all of its children to the xfaForm variable. The xfaForm variable is a complex object that has multiple nodes beneath it. Use a setValue service to put the xml you extracted into the xfaForm Var. In the XPath editor you can expand it out and put the xml data under this node:
    xfaFormVar/object/data/xdp/datasets/data
    Now your xfaForm var is ready to go

    It turns out this was an issue with the META-INF/weblogic-application.xml having duplicate entries for the "webapp.encoding.default" parameter.
    This obviously got duplicated when my app was re-imported into the Eclipse OPEP environment for WLS 10.3.2
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>

    Removing the duplicate entry resolved this problem.

  • The Document Conversions Launcher Service status on a SharePoint Server 2013 Web front-end server displays "Starting" but does not start or stop

    I have this strange error showing up from my second Web Front End Server, "The Document Conversions Load Balancer service is stuck in starting, The status showing up "Error Starting". When I lunch the start, it runs then went back to
    the same status "Error Starting" for the "Document Conversions Load Balancer Service". How can I get of rid this issue?

    Hi Mannyabdon,
    Based on your description, I recommend to check the things below:
    1.  Run the PowerShell command below to check the status of the Secure Store Service:
    Get-SPServiceInstance |Where {$_.typename -like "Document Conversions Load Balancer Service"}
    If it is not showing online, please stop the service first and then start it to see if the issue still occurs (the
    <ServiceGUID> can be obtained obtained from the command above).
    Stop the service:
    Stop-SPServiceInstance -Identity <ServiceGUID>
    Start the service:
    Start-SPServiceInstance -Identity <ServiceGUID>
    2.  Check the ULS log for detailed error message.
    For SharePoint 2013, by default, ULS log is at C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Web Server Extensions\15\LOGS.
    Thanks,

  • How to debug file content conversion problems?

    Hi,
    I'm trying to debug a file content conversion problem.  I'm mapping a few nodes in an IDOC to a file of fixed length fields.  I'm using the "<Node A>.fieldFixedLengths", "<Node B>.fieldFixedLengths", "<Node C>.fieldFixedLengths", etc. parameters to specify the fixed length records.
    However, a certain node (for e.g. Node B) is causing a problem and if it is present in the IDOC, the output file does not get created.  Upon checking the XI monitor, I notice that the file gets mapped correctly and thus the problem lies when the file adapter does the file content conversion.  How do I debug this because there is no descriptive error in the XI log?  If this node is not present, the file gets generated fine.
    Thanks,
    Basant Gupta

    Hi,
    If your SXMB_MONI shows, success status, then go to RWB->Message Monitoring->Message display tool and then check Audit log for the analysis,
    So it wil help you debug the situation.
    If there is no error, then check RWB->Component Monitoring->Adapter Monitoring for you file communciation channel..

    Regarding the problem itself, make sure that SQL*Plus has the right NLS_LANG setting in the environment. On Windows, in the Command Prompt:
    C:\> set NLS_LANG=.WE8PC850

  • Codepage conversion problem

    Hello,
      In a DB to DB scenario, I am getting this error "Error: Unexpected error converting database resultset to XML, codepage conversion problem?" on the side of the sender adapter. I am not able to see any messages or trace in IE-Monitoring. Is there any log wherein I can find out the problem as to where it is occuring?

    Hi Sanjay,
    The JDBC sender adapter returns the rows selected from the database in the follwoing format.

    <row>
    <column-name1>column-value</ column-name1>

    <column-name2>column-value</ column-name2>
    <column-name3>column-value</ column-name3>
    </row>
    </resultset>
    This error occurs , when the source datatype you have created for the JDBC adapter does not match with this format. I would suggest that you check the source format along with the occurence of your field.
