Document Explorer file links are opening HDA files??

Hello. We are having a problem with documents (pdf, excel, doc, etc.) such that when you click on a document link within the "Document Explorer" taskflow it opens in a new tab but an HDA file is shown. Example:

@endThe problem occurs for files that are processed by an Archive job -> export and import. We have used this archive several times in the past few weeks with no problems. All of the sudden today we are seeing issues. No config changes or anything else have been made to the servers or app.
Here are the settings of that archive:
Export Data*
Export options -
-Replace Existing Export Files: Yes
-Copy Web Content: Yes
-Export Table Only: No
Import Options:
-Override Action:Insert Revision
-Import Valid Only:No
-Translate Date:No
Export Query:
Account is: <account number for the spaces' UCM folders & files>
Query Options:
Allow Export of Published Revisions (yes)
Latest Revisions (yes)
(all other settings unchecked)
Import Maps*
All - Role Access List - <$strReplace(strLower(xClbraRoleList),"radissonblumoa_","radissonblumoa_")$>
Replication (NOT USING THIS)*
Transfer To (NOT USING THIS)*
When we check in an updated version of any of these documents into UCM the problem is fixed for that file only. If we then delete that new revision the problem reappears. At this point we are really not confident in using this Archive for anything because we have proven through multiple tests that archiving documents causes this problem. We are hesitant to use Archiver tool at all right now because of this, but again more so just wondering if any of our settings could have caused this?
Any advice much appreciated. We have been working on this since 8am and will be here until it is resolved. We have an escalated SR on it but no progress in the past few hours.
Is there an easy way to force all files to create new revision? This would solve the problem temporarily so that we can go home and work on this tomorrow.
Cheers,
S

Hi ,
Collections table gets added usually when we create the archiver collection from Folder Structure Archive . This is used to move Folders and it's contents from 1 server to the other .
Not sure how all the archive collections have got added with this table , but it seems there is something that has changed on the archiver because of which this issue is showing up . Now the issue with 1 file was resolved in this manner :
1. Did a Update from Content Information Page - Submit (without any changes) and then did archiver run for that file again .
2. On the archiver side had changed the settings to :
Allow Published contents
All Revisions (earlier this was Latest revisions only)
Not sure if the same above settings / steps was done while doing the resubmit through archiver .
Based on the above steps had done a simple export - delete - import (Note : Did not do the Content Information - Update - Submit action) but that still showed the issue , it seems this was the step done afterwards which resulted in the issue showing up again .
But having said that it seems a pretty strange issue as in I am still trying to figure out why the webcenter spaces access is showing the HDA file (indicating the file is not in the ucm system) .
Thanks

  • Adobe acrobat 8 install affects all users who are opening PDF files

I am trying to understand how "Installing Adobe Acrobat on Citrix server" can affect users who are opening PDF files? Users who are trying to open PDF files are having problems opening it after I installed Adobe Acrobat 8.
    I appreciate your advice.
    Citrix Xenapp 4.5

    Installed Adobe Acrobat 8

I have not restarted the Citrix server. I installed it and executed the application and published it.
If restarting resolves it then it is good.
After I installed Adobe Acrobat 8 last night, this morning users who were accessing PDF files from our intranet are not able to access it I am trying to understand what kind of error that they are getting. So, far 2 users have complained that they are not able to open the PDF files.
    One user's comment was this
I can't edit an application in Power Site Pro through Mortgagebot.  Mortgagebot tech support told me it has to do with Adobe Flash Player.

  • Double clicking Illustrator (.ai) file does not open a file with opened app.

    Hello,
I have an Illustrator CS5 (15.0.2) running on Windows 7 Pro. Here are the symptoms: when double clicking the Illustrator file once the application is already open, the file will not open. You will see an hourglass for a few seconds, but no file contents are displayed. However, if I were to close Illustrator application and then double click on the file, Illustrator will open the file correctly. Additionally, if I go to File -- Open and manually select the file, it also opens the file correctly. Only double clicking the file once the Illustrator application is already open does not work.
Has anyone seen this issue and knows how-to fix it?

Right click on a .ai file and choose properties, check to see what application is set to open .ai files. Try running in 32 bit mode.

  • Document window sizing/position on opening a file

I use a custom workspace with all the CS5 apps that I use (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, and Dreamweaver), with a dual monitor setup. I prefer to have the Control bar at the bottom instead of the top and the application bar always off, so that there's nothing at the top, except the document itself. I also have the majority of the palettes open on the other monitor and a select few placed over to the right side of the primary screen.
The problem I'm having is that document windows keep trying to open full-screen on the primary screen, instead of fitting into the workspace area for them. I keep having to resize them before I can work on them. I'm having this issue with CS5 documents running on Snow Leopard. I didn't have this issue with CS3 running on Leopard. I've tried resetting all manner of prefs, to no effect.
Any ideas what's causing this to happen? TIA

I tried both and at first the xlsb file was hanging but I logged off to try other things under my account then logged back on again and it opened though pretty slow. I tried from my account as well and it is very slow but does eventually open. Under the
users account I copied the file to her desktop and it opens with no problem. The permissions are the same on all similar level folders yet the user can open Excel files from them with no problem and even larger than the problem files.
Edit: My mistake, the green progress bar happens on other folders as well. Talking with one of the senior IT who installed the system, this user is the last person of a chain from microwave>switch and fiber link>another switch and fiber link so just
may be a physical issue though from my experience the one folder 'seems' to have the most trouble in opening the Excel files.
Also tried disconnecting the network drive then reclogging to let the scripts recreate it. No luck with that approach either.

  • Issue with PDF links and opened Adobe files

I have tested and IE 8 opens correct links inside PDF's.
When I open link in Mozilla or Chrome it will not work.
Is this related to Adobe Plugin which is installed inside Add-ons?
Strange is that link inside PDF shows the following link:resource://pdf.js/web/
After checking support issues there was quoted in the past:
The current Firefox 27 beta release still doesn't show the links properly using version 0.8.641, but the current Aurora 28.0a2 build does show the links to the Appendices properly using version 0.8.759.
So that would mean that when Firefox 28 gets released in March it will work for users with this Firefox version.

This is likely a problem with the way those links are coded in the PDF file, so the file may have to be saved again using different settings to make it work with PDF Viewers other than the Adobe Reader.

  • Link to open pdf file in new window

I want to create a link on a web page to open a pdf file in a
new window. I used the "on click" "open brower window". Which does
open the pdf file, but not in a new window. How do I open it in a
    new window?

    Your code is a mess:
** there is no apparent reason for the span:
    <td><span class="style1"
    onfocus="MM_openBrWindow('pdf/PR_launch.pdf','','')">Milford, OH
    So change that line to:
    <td>Milford, OH
** here you have two double quotes before This.
    <a title="”This" class="pdfFile"
    onclick="MM_openBrWindow('pdf/PR_Launch.pdf','','')"
Change it to this, (with some other improvements):
    <a title="This" class="pdfFile"
    onclick="MM_openBrWindow(this.href,'','');return false"
    ** This is code salad:
    href="”PR_Launch.pdf”" link="" will="" open="" a=""
    .pdf=""
    file.”="">More (PR_Launch.pdf,
    230kb)</a></span></td>
    Change it to:
    href="pdf/PR_Launch.pdf">More (PR_Launch.pdf,
    230kb)</a></td>
If you continue to have trouble, you might find my divaPOP

links to all external files in a popup window without your

  • WAD - Link to open PDF file

    Hello,
I created an application in WAD - some tables, some buttons etc. I need to add a link (or button, not the matter), where user can click to open attached PDF file. PDF can be stored anywhere (i.e. in "Documents" in RSA1 or as a regular file on the server). Any idea? When I use the "Document" web item, it opens a parameters window, not the document itself. I need to open just a document.

    Hi Arelis,
either you can use a hyperlink as described by Andrey or a button. There is a quite good post which describes how to open a document by using a java script coding behind a regular web template button:

  • Does iMovie automatically convert mpeg2 files that are opened in iMovie?

I want to know if I open mpeg2 files from a Sony Handycam into iMovie, if they will automatically be converted into .mov or .m4v files.

No. mpeg2 is the highly compressed final delivery format of a DVD and not intended for further editing.
You need to convert the VOB files in the TS-Folder of the DVD back to DV which iMovie is designed to handle. For that you need mpegStreamclip:
    http://www.squared5.com/svideo/mpeg-streamclip-mac.html
which is free, but you must also have the  Apple mpeg2 plugin :
    http://www.apple.com/quicktime/mpeg2/
(unless you are running Lion in which case see below))
    which is a mere $20.
Another possibility is to use DVDxDV:
    http://www.dvdxdv.com/NewFolderLookSite/Products/DVDxDV.overview.htm
    which costs $25.
For the benefit of others who may read this thread:
Obviously the foregoing only applies to DVDs you have made yourself, or other home-made DVDs that have been given to you. It will NOT work on copy-protected commercial DVDs, which in any case would be illegal.
And from the TOU of these forums:
    Keep within the Law
No material may be submitted that is intended to promote or commit an illegal act.
Do not submit software or descriptions of processes that break or otherwise ‘work around’ digital rights management software or hardware. This includes conversations about ‘ripping’ DVDs or working around FairPlay software used on the iTunes Store.
    If you are running Lion:
    From the MPEG Streamclip homepage
The installer of the MPEG-2 Playback Component may refuse to install the component in Lion. Apple states the component is unnecessary in Lion, however MPEG Streamclip still needs it.
To install the component in Lion, please download MPEG Streamclip 1.9.3b7 beta above; inside the disk image you will find the Utility MPEG2 Component Lion: use it to install the MPEG-2 Playback Component in Lion. The original installer's disk image (QuickTimeMPEG2.dmg) is required.
The current versions of MPEG Streamclip cannot take advantage of the built-in MPEG-2 functionality of Lion. For MPEG-2 files you still need to install the QuickTime MPEG-2 Playback Component, which is not preinstalled in Lion. You don't have to install QuickTime 7.

  • Server allows overwriting files that are open by other users.

We're having a problem with Snow Leopard Server not warning a user when they attempt to overwrite a file that is open by another user.
Running Snow Leopard Server 10.6.8 on an Xserve with an Xserve RAID. Have about 25-30 Mac clients, running 10.6.8 or 10.7.3. Users running Adobe CS5.5
    Here's the scenario:
User edits a file in InDesign, then saves a PDF of that file to the server. The user's supervisor reviews the file, and perhaps adds comments to it, but not necessarily.
The user edits the ID file again, and saves a new PDF over the old one. When we were running Server 10.4.x, the user would have been warned that the PDF file was open by another user, and would have been prevented from saving. Under SL Server, no warning takes place, and the file is overwritten.
At this point, a couple of things can happen.
1: The new file is written, and the changes can be seen by the user. The supervisor's computer does not see the new version of the file. Quicklook and opening the file into Acrobat 10 will still show the old file. Disconnecting and reconnecting fixes this.
2: The new file is written, but it is corrupted, and not openable by either party. If neither one opens the file right away, this could go unnoticed.
I've tested this scenario between two Lion machines, and the "file-open" warning occurs like it should.
Is there a setting in SL Server that I need to look at, or is this a bug?
Our short-term fix is to have the user always save to a new filename. This can work, but it's cumbersome.

However when I do this, update my folio and go to open the pdf in my DPS folio displayed through content viewer on my iPad, it pops up saying 'cannot open page. The error is - the requested URL is not found on this server'
Does anyone know how I can sort this, I have followed every instruct, tried several pdfs and buttons etc.

    Hi,
    1. Create a file.zip with name HTMLResources.zip
    2. Import for article
    3. Create a button with action "Go to URL" and put the code "HTMLResources/namefilePDF.pdf
Put the name of the PDF, for example:

  • Since upgrading to Lion, applications are opening multiple files, how do I stop that?

When I open pretty much ANY file, the application for that file will open not only the intended file, but also between one and three previously opened files.  Not sure how to stop that.  Once I've opened the file (and the unintended files), any other files I open for that application open normally with no additionallly opened files.  However, if I close the entire application and try opening just one file again, it will recur.  I've looked in preferences for the offending applications, to no avail, and also in system preferences.  This never happened with previous version of the OS, and only just started after I upgraded first to snow leopard and then to lion.  This software behavior is quite annoying, especially with files that have been moved elsewhere, which tends to make the application hang instead of opening the intended file.

It's the Resume feature of Lion:
Managing Mac OS X Lion's application resume feature.
If you shutdown your computer you should get a dialog asking if you want applications to resume on the next startup. Simply uncheck the box to prevent that from occurring. Open General preferences and uncheck the option to Restore windows when quitting and re-opening apps. You can also install a third-party utility to control resume features on individual applications: RestoreMeNot or Application State Cleaner.
