I am not able to open an Excel (.xls) document sent as an attachment in an Email.  I have Office for Mac loaded on my Mac.

Try dragging those attachments out of the mail message and into a Finder folder or onto your Desktop.
Then drag the .xls file onto the Excel app (the "actual" app or the Dock icon will do), or use File->Open from within Excel.
If that doesn't work, it's possible that the Excel file being sent to you was created using a more recent version of Excel than the one you have. Ask the person sending it to save it in an older format. If you just need to look at it and not edit it, the other person could send it to you as a PDF file.

  • Read a file sent as an attachment from CPSC

I have a requirement where in CPO has to read a text file sent as an attachment from portal (cisco prime service catalog), Is there a way to query RCdatabase to fetch Document ID and retrive the file and read the file. If this approach is not feasible, is there an alternate way to host the text file in an external location and pulled from there?

    Hi,
is the next part of the code correct.
What i mean is packing of the attachment, finding out the size of pdf file and doc type as PDF.
You can also try below link..

I'm just trying to print my online pay stub
Since my printer isn't working, I'd like to save document to my desktop ("save as" is the only option given to me) and send it as an attachment to a friend's computer and working printer.
    What browser are you using?
Are you trying to print or to save the doc? Whether you have a working printer or not is really immaterial. If you're trying to print, then File > Print > PDF > Save as PDF…. If the resulting PDF is small enough (<5MB, though my preference is <1MB), e-mail it to your pal. If it's too big, transfer it using a chat programme or a file service (MediaFire, RapidShare, etc).
Now, I am currently trying to send the document directly (via email, an option given under "file") the pay stub from my employer (who uses ADP online payroll services), to that computer and working printer ....and I'm receiving a window (with apple mail logo on it) that begins with  "To view this page, you must log in to this area on agateway.adp.com:443:"  and asks for "name" and "password".  I've put in both ADP's information, and what I believe (could be very wrong) to be apple mail's information, and either/neither/nothing seems to work!
I don't understand any of this. You need to explain better—or perhaps just post a screen shot (blank any private or confidential info on it prior to posting).

  • Sending document as an email attachment

I have just installed pages '08 and trying to find out how to send a document as an email attachment. I accustomed to using Word, which has "send as an attachment" in the File menu, which is very convenient, since it takes a couple of seconds and you don't have to save and find files to drop into the email.
Does Pages have anything like this?

Pages doesn't have a function like that, and in fact Pages files are a bit cumbersome to mail, since they need to be archived (compressed/"zipped") first, to ensure they get sent correctly. In other words, the process is to select the document in the Finder, in the File menu choose "Create Archive" and then attach the resulting file to the email.
There is a trick however that will make doing this easier -- if you have a saved Pages file, you can go up to the title bar and Control-click on the icon next to the file name. This action will produce a dropdown menu that lists the path to the file. The item just below the file name is the folder that the file is in -- if you choose that item, you will see a Finder window for that folder pop up, with the file name highlighted. You can now immediately go to the Finder's File menu and choose Create Archive. This technique means you don't have to hunt around for where the file is located on your computer, and can speed things up a bit. (This Control-click on the proxy icon works in all windows in OS X, not just for Pages.)

Thanks again for the detailed instructions Srini!
    And I really hate to be a pest . . . but . . .
Using your example and not modifying it, I get the e-mail form filled out correctly and the pdf attached, however, I'm not prompted to sign it.
    Any more clues?

  • Can't view overflow text in document sent for commenting

We use Acrobat 9 Pro for Windows in my office. When my coworker sends me a pdf form document for commenting (through the commenting menu), and that document contains form fields with overflow text, I can't get a scroll bar and can't access the overflow text. I do see the + overflow text indicator in the lower right corner of the field, but can't activate it by clicking on it. On the other hand, if my coworker sends me the same form document as a simple attachment, I can get to the overflow text with no problem. We're using Windows XP on Dell desktop computers. Thanks for any solutions.
    Paul

If a document is enabled for commenting, all form fields are disabled. If extended for use with Reader (i.e., Advanced > Extend Features in Adobe Reader), both commenting and certain forms usage rights (and a few others) are enabled. But if you have Acrobat Pro, she shouldn't need to do anything more than send the original document that has not been enabled for commenting. You only need to do that for Reader users.

  • How do i save a PDF document sent to me via email to Pages on my IPad

Hey All,  I have a document that i want on my IPad.  How do i save a PDF document sent to me via email to Pages on my IPad?

You can't. You can export Pages files as PDF documents but you cannot save a PDF into Pages. It does not support that feature.
There are tons of PDF apps in the App Store aside from iBooks. Adobe Reader makes a pretty decent PDF app that will store, annotate, rename, highlight, use form fields, sign pdf's, and organize in folders. It is free as well. There are other apps, you just have to Serach for them.

    Hi Shelly,
    Command-P (Print)
In the Print dialogue, click the PDF button at lower left, choose Mail PDF
The result should be a new email document with the pdf file attached.
    Address and send.
The procedure applies to any document which may be printed, not just Pages documents.

  • Sending a document as an mail attachment with approve and reject button

    Hi all,
i have an infopath form where a user fills the form and on submit the form is saving as an document in the document library,
now my question is, how can i get this document as an mail attachment with approve and reject option.

    Hello,
You need to hide them on form load for user. Add one more hidden control in form and keep control value blank initially. Now add rule on button submit to set the control value to some other so you can hide/show the button.
Now add rule on approve and reject buttons that, if field1 is blank then hide this control.

How can I get a passage highlighted in yellow in a word document sent to Adobe Reader?

You can view non-PDF documents, such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, RTF, in Adobe Reader for iOS.  However, you are not able to add comments or edit non-PDF documents in Adobe Reader.
To open a non-PDF document in other iOS app.
Tap anywhere in a document to display the toolbar in Adobe Reader.
Tap the Share icon on the right side of the toolbar.
Select Open In... from the menu.
Select an appropriate app to open the document.
Alternatively, you can convert a Word/Excel/PowerPoint/RTF document to PDF using the paid subscription service called Adobe PDF Pack and add comments to a resultant PDF document.
