Hello Bluemax22
If you are getting prompts to authorized moves, you could have issues with permissions to those items and folders. Check out the article below to troubleshooting further.

  • Best drives for sharing and editing Lightroom library remotely or onsite?

Small company needs to move Lightroom folders from one iMac to a new drive, so more than 1 of us can import and edit in Lightroom 5.6. I need to move all my Indesign documents and Lightroom folders and photos off my iMac and onto something accessible to multiple iMacs and Windows PCs. Some Windows workstations will just be viewing and printing the pdf versions of the Indesign forms. And they will be accessing Word docs and Excel files in these shared folders. But my daughter and I need to open and edit all Indesign documents and Lightroom photos from home or from office. I think we would prefer to work on these files without having to first download them to our local hard drives.
4 Windows PCs and 2 iMacs in our office are on a LAN so we can access our business application software. So some of our tech support trusted advisors are suggesting Samba folders on our office server. Others say a NAS drive is a good solution or maybe cloud based storage. All these people know well the basics of sharing files on a mixed network--but none of them work in Lightroom or Indesign.
96 GB is total amount of all files, photos, and folders. Some of these are duplicate folders I'll delete and consolidate as I move them to new location. The dng photos and Photoshop files we work with are all under 5 MB. If our homes use regular Time Warner Cable and AT&T Uverse internet access, is it reasonable to expect we can work from home with same speed as when we are in the office? And does either a Samba folder on our RedHat linux box or/vs a NAS drive or/vs some cloud based storage offer any better chance of speed and ease of working from home?
Thank you for reading all of this. Any advice would be appreciated.

You don't need a Mac Mini server to do that. Any cheap system could do that. I'd check Freecycle or even ebay and criagslist. Look for some old Pentium 2/3/4 system someone is looking to offload. Slap in a high capacity drive or two, load a copy of Linux on there, set up SAMBA for SMB file sharing, or even a simple FTP server, and you're good to go. You can probably just run it without a monitor, off to the side somewhere, and just use SSH or VNC to monitor it.
The only problem with that, is that the electricity demands will get a bit high compared to some dedicated NAS hardware. NAS devices will have a higher up front cost, but they'll use considerably less electricity, so be cheaper in the long run.
Of course if you expect to be using the system as a HTPC as well, then I might be more able to give the nod to the Mini Server. Though the non-Server mini would work just as well, with the exception of only having the one HDD.

  • Calendar sharing and editing between 2 exchange 2013 organisations

Not sure then.. wait for other spiceheads to reply...

    Hi Guys
I recently had a client that was forced to split into 2 separate organisations each with their own exchange 2013 setup. However they will be sharing vehicles and conference rooms etc and previously they had calendars setup to manage this. I want to be able to have a calendar setup that both exchange organisations can access and edit.
I setup federated trust between the exchange servers however all I can do is view information and no one can actually make any changes etc.
Anyone know how this can be done easily?
    Thanks

  • Extracted punctuation and editting issues in Contacts

I waited to install from 10.6.8 because of the many issues I saw/heard people were having, then I heard that it was fine and I installed 10.8.2 but wow, what a nightmare!
The most tragic issue is the new format of Address Book. First of all, the new "Contacts" application is horrendous and looks like a 1988 Corel Draw design, if Corel was around back then. What gives? I've learned that if something works—Don't fix it! Who  at Apple  allowed for this to go through? The staff must have had a lot of beer and wine that day! Is Apple going to turn its OS into a kiddie book because that is what this application looks like. Please return us to our original glory; there was no need for this circumcision ("to cut, about, around, and through").
First, it seems that there are the two duplicate file systems, but since I don't know what or where iCloud is, I am not willing to make that my primary backup site. So I have to read the manual about that.
Here is the actual problem, when installed, Contacts actually strips the punctuation from all my emails. This means the symbol ("@") and the periods (".") in my emails. Even though I manually try to edit this, I am not allowed to make edits in the emails!
In addition, I can no longer add  new phone numbers or entries, as one would do by clicking on the green "+" symbol. The only thing I can do, is write notes, and click on the delete entries ("-").
I wonder why, with so many issues, Apple hasn't fixed this promptly, and/or returned to the previous Address Book version?

Actually I did not import, I just reinstalled the new software and it automatically did that. I have tried resetting the PRAM and that didn't do anything but as soon as I figure out where the Power button is on my wireless Apple keyboard, I will try to rest the Mac Mini, which is lacking some feature, I read somewhere, so sometimes this causes problems.

  • Viewing and Editing Issues with iPhoto 09

While I have enjoyed the new features of iPhoto 09 vs iPhoto 08, there are two differences that may be bugs or may be "new features." The first is that while viewing images within an event, the image zoom slider in the lower right corner of the window will no longer zoom an image to full view within the image browser. I only get a minimum of three images left to right. Any ideas why I can't zoom fully without opening the edit window or clicking on the image to zoom it to full screen (not within the image browser)?
The second question has to do with editing. When I take a portrait image and open the editing window, the image is rotated into landscape mode. This did not happen in iPhoto 08. Is anyone else seeing this? If so, is this a new "feature" or a bug?
All of all of my images are stored as RAW file format.

    Thank you both.
For the image viewing, I'll accept that things sometime change. In fact, if you click once on an image so that it is highlighted, you can go in and out of zoom by touching the space bar, and then navigate with the left and right arrows at full screen.
When I encounter an image that has a rotation issue in edit, I'll use Revert to Original to fix the image.
I've been using iLife/iPhoto since they first came out years ago, and the interface generally added things, not remove them...oh, well, in iPhoto 09, the good clearly outweighs the bad. I only wish I now had a camera with built-in GPS, but I've still been having fun entering locations for all of my photos.

  • Sharing and EDITing Final Cut Pro Projects...

I'm trying to Share Final Cut Pro Projects between separate User Accounts. The originator of the Project saves to the Shared Folder, which should allow others to not only read, but Edit the files. Unfortunatley, the Scratch Files (video) within the Project always looses it's connection when the Second User connects and trys to edit the Project.
Is their an easy way to Share the Projects so that Others can both Read and Save Changes? Does the Second User always have to rename the file to get it to save back to the Shared Folder?
    Thanks for any Help! !

Hello and welcome to the forum.
It's always been my understanding that you could open a project created by FCE in FCP, but not the reverse. I fear you may be out of luck.

  • Final Cut Pro X sharing and exporting issues?

    Hey!
Okay so I made a Wedding video for my cousins wedding a couple of days ago. I want to share it to Facebook. I do everything correctly then it says " Preparing media for share.... " and it's loading. Then it just stops doing that and goes back to normal like I never shared it to Facebook. I checked my facebook and nothing was there. It's a 12 minute long video, so then I try YouTube. Same thing. The password and emails went through for both of them, and I also tried the lowest quality. Still the same thing! So now i'm looking for the export to just save it as a quicktime movie. I can't find it! I watched tutorials but it says I have to export from the share button above. It's not there, it's only there under file and only has the options for facebook, vimeo, youtube, apple devices etc etc.
Can someone please help me? Thank you

Watch Macbreak Studio Episode 194 and or Episode 203 where they show how to setup sharing presets.

  • Sharing and permission issue of folders thru different accounts

    Hello,
After installing Lightroom 5 I've lost permission to write on some sub-folders located on an external drive.
On the screen shot (attached) the main user called "Alfredo1" is not my user account name and as far as I know is not a reall user on my machine.

Is this happening on the original boot drive or on a secondary drive? If the latter, do a 'Get Info' on the drive and click the checkbox for 'Ignore ownership on this volume.' If it's the boot drive, fire up Disk Utility and run the Repair Permissions until it comes up clean. This would not be expected to affect permissions on data files directly, but might allow you to click on the lock so that you can authenticate and change the permissions manually. Possibly you will need to Repair Disk with either DU or Disk Warrior. In any event the lock should never be non-clickable for the original admin user.
If it's a shared volume, check with the server admin or the owner of the hosting computer, ask them to propagate permissions downward.

  • Sharing and editing in iCal

    Hi!
I remember reading something about the latest me.com update, now allowing you to share ical calendars with others. I have done this for a long time, but is it now possible for others to also edit these calendars?
let's say I create a calendar and publish it. How can others be authorized to edit within? Is it possible?

My iCal seems to be the same as yours. To Do items double-click straight into edit mode. Other events seem to require hitting the "edit" button. In iCal Help things are ambiguous: when explaining how to edit events it says to double-click and, "if necessary", hit the edit button.
(Of course, if one is just editing the title, you can select the event and hit return, or you can option-click the title.)

  • Sharing and Authorization Issues - Re-Post

I posted this and it was viewed but not responded to. Does anyone have any ideas?
My spouse and I share music that we purchase, but with the use of iTunes, it has been very difficult. Unfortunately, I started using my own ID over a year ago and my spouse started using his own ID over the past 2 months. I say "unfortunately" because it has been extremely difficult merging the ID's and keeping all of the songs in one place on one computer and having them all recognized as music that we have already paid for. We are having all sorts of technical problems within iTunes associated with this issue. We have 2 laptops and 1 desktop. I also changed my ID about 6 months ago.
Here's a summary of the technical issues:
1.) When we try to keep all of the songs on the desktop and sync up our iPods to that computer, some of the songs that I purchased over the last year are not loading into the iPods and are not recognized in the database on that computer.
2.) When my spouse does find those songs on my computer (via network) to play on his laptop, iTunes goes to check if the song is authorized to play on his computer. When he uses my old ID and password, it does not accept it and presents him with my new ID. These songs were purchased with my old ID. Whatever he puts in, the new ID and password or old ID and password, it does not accept it. Uggh!
Anyone have any ideas? Does anyone have a procedure for doing this correctly?

If it was viewed but not replied to, all that means is, whoever looked at it probably didn't know the answer.

  • Billing Document and Material Document number and Date (Goods Issue)

    Dear Experts,
Is there a way I can find the relationship between a billing document and a material document number and Goods issue date?
    Thanks

    Hi Abid
Is there a way I can find the relationship between a billing document and a material document number and Goods issue date?
You have to follow the flow from the billing document to the material document. This will only work if the billing document comes from a delivery note.
    Billing document => Delivery
    LIPS-VBELN = VBRP-VGBEL
    and LIPS-POSNR-VBRP-VGPOS
So you have LIPS + LIKP with the LIKP-WADAT_IST as the goods issue date.
    Delivery => Material Document Number
You can use the table VBFA with the delivery item as the preceding document number (VBFA-VBELV) and item (VBFA-POSNV) ; you will also have to define the preceding document type as J (delivery) and the document category of subsequent document as R (material document).
Because in SAP nothing is simple, there might more than one material document, because the goods issue (601) movement might have been canceled and issue again. So you will have to decide what to do in that case.
    Best Regards,
    Franck

Sorry, I am new to the type of problem-solution process and I do not know how to edit my first statement. My true statement is below:
My pdf freezes when I click on COMMENT. I am trying to get at the tools to edit a pdf. If I use the tools from the toolbar, there is no issue, but once I click COMMENT, the document freezes and I have to open Task Manager to crash it. This started in the last seven days (3.31.15).

I answered your questions below, BUT while I was searching for properties, I found the REPAIR ACROBAT INSTALLATION feature, did the repair and (Voila!) the issue was resolved!
Thanks for making me search for information.

I am using Acrobat XI Pro, version 11.0.10.32.
I did not create the file I was working in during the freezes, so I tried a PDF that I created with Adobe and it also freezes when I click on COMMENT. I did discover that the COMMENTS plug-in is loaded. (see image
I have used COMMENT for years without this issue occurring. It started in the last 2 weeks.
I could not find Properties under the file menu, but found a security setting in Preferences under the Edit menu. It did not have a way to allow/disallow COMMENT.
