Documentation on weblogic patch 10.3.6.0.7

Hi,
Oracle released new patch for weblogic server 10.3.6 last week. I couldn't find any documentation on the new patch(details like new features or fixes) online.

  • How to solve 'java/lang/OutOfMemoryError' when apply weblogic patch 10.3.6.0.10?

Hi All:  Our platform is IBM AIX power system 64 bit, os level 6.  Oracle Fusion Middleware version is 10.3.6.0.8.  We tried to patch 10.3.6.0.10 on it, but encounter ‘out of memory error’ when  applied WebLogic patch 10.3.6.0.10 on UAT report server.  Currently UAT has 3GB memory (currently is 3G) .

    thank you very much!

Solutions: Bounce the applications and check the arguments if you can increase it.  It is due to memory issue
You can set these values in CommEnv.sh (.cmd for windows) file located in the weblogic_home/common/bin directory.
This gets applied to all the domains under that wls home.
If you want to make the changes to specific domain then edit the SetDomainEnv.sh file located under the domain/bin directory.

  • Weblogic  patch has broken the LDAP authentication

    Hi,
We have installed  XIR2 SP4 on  Linux and also installed a patch for the weblogic ,after installing weblogic patch we are unable to login to the infoview using LDAP authentication getting  error  ""An Error has Occurred: java.lang.InstantiationException:Could not instantiate bean CE_Session, neither class nor beanName were specified."
Curently we have  uninstalled the weblogic  patch , now everyting is working fine.
We want to know the reason for this , why the instalation of patch has  broken the LDAP authentication?
    Environment -
    BOXIR2 SP4,
    LINUX,
    Web logic 9.2,
    Oracle 10g.
    Thank you  in Advance.
    Thanks & Regards,
    Bill.

You'll have to open an incident with support, that error doesn't seem like an actual LDAP error so go with deployment if you do. See if you can get an engineer to reproduce or trace your environment. This is the 1st time I've heard of a weblogic patch breaking LDAP.
    Regards,
    Tim

  • Is there any documentation for WebLogic domains?

I've been sucessful in the past in setting up a custom WebLogic 8 domain for OraBPEL 2.*. However, it appears that there has been considerable changes in the way the domain must be setup for OraBPEL 10. In fact it seems that not only do you have to load every possible jar in the OraBPEL installation into the server's classpath (generally considered a VERY ugly thing to do) but you also have to munge through some resource addapter's rar files to find more jars to put on the classpath. Surely this ugliness is due to some lack of understanding on my part, and surely a company like Oracle has documentation somewhere that might help someone like me out. I haven't been able to find it, so if I could get a pointer I would REALLY appreciate it.
    Thanks,
    Josh

  • Weblogic patch for the "Authentication for user wlsadmin denied" issue

    Hi Everyone,
When I try to login to the weblogic console using the weblogic user id and password, I got below issue in the production server..Sometime back I saw a thread that Oracle has provided a patch for this issue. If any of you is aware of it then could you please provide us the patch file and its location please. This is quite a bit urgent. Awaiting for your response. Thanks in advance.

I need to communicate to onsite members about the patch details etc.

Faisal, Thank you for your response. Here the weblogic console id & password are known to few people so the guess you are making might be correct. Could anyone might have tried with incorrect credentials couple of times before we face this issue, I am not sure though. The moment we provide the credentials and upon click on Log In button we are getting j_security_check.
    http://asdo0002:9683/console/j_security_check
    Authentication Denied.
The username or password has been refused by WebLogic Server. Please try again.
Any information about the work--arounds or patches from weblogic would be helpful to me... Thanks a lot.

  • Access (public) WebLogic patches without CSI / My Oracle Support?

    Hi,
I would like to access a (hopefully public) patch to upgrade from WLS 10.0.3.3 to WLS 10.0.3.4. I am using the (publicly available) server for development as a contractor.
However, downloading patches now requires to have a "My Oracle Support" membership. I think I had downloaded patches from BEA in the past without such a membership? To register for this service, a Customer Support Identification (CSI) is required. The complete WLS is publicly downloadable, so I do not understand why a support contract is required to access the patches?
Maybe there are other possibilities and someone here can help me?
    Regards,
    Gerd

I've got the exact same issue...I've got 11.2.0.1 installed using the developer license, and the application I'm running has some errors that stem from a bug that has been fixed in 11.2.0.2, but I can't find a way to access the patch without a CSI.

  • Patch details in Weblogic logs

We applied weblogic patch HCE9 provided by Oracle, but we are not able to view the details in in the startup logs (usually patch details show up on the startup logs). Its not visible via the admin console also. Does anyone know why?

Thanks for replying .... We use Weblogic 9.2 MP3
Also, we used BSU utility fir applying the patch. We can see the patch from BSU tool, but its not written in the logs or neither is it showing up in Admin console

  • Question Regarding upgrading weblogic server from 10.3.5 to 10.3.6 in OBIEE

    Here is what was done.
    1) Create a 11.2.0.3 database and create the repositories required from Enterprise BI Install
    2) Install OBIEE 11.1.1.6.0. The option chosen was 'Enterprise Install' which installed and configured the domain and the instance
    3) Shutdown all services and apply Patches to bring the install to 11.1.1.6.8
The application is working fine. But In production, I plan to the use install method of
    1) Install Weblogic 10.3.6 and Use JRockIt
    2) Install OBIEE 11.1.1.6.0 and plan to choose 'Software Only Install)
    3) Apply the 11.1.1.6.8 patchset.
    4) Configure the doamin.
Here is what I plan to do in the Development Environment
    1) Just to keep the Version of Weblogic Version, the same in development also, I plan to upgrade the Weblogic in Devlopment install to 10.3.6 as the Weblogic Version that comes with OBIEE install is 10.3.5.
    2) Aslo use the latest version of 64-bit install of JRockit
Please point me to the documentation that would help me achive this.
Thanks a ton. This forum is awesome.

Okay. This might help you then. Refer to :

  • Weblogic 12c, is it possible to migrate Oracle forms and reports (legacy)

    Hi Guys
Is it possible to host Oracle forms & reports based application using Weblogic Server 12c? The documentations do not exclusively confirm the same, other than the ability to use applications in cloud. We are planning to move to web, as we are running into multiple issues with client/server (6i) applications on both Windows 7/8 OS
    regards,
    raj

    Hi Raj,
These are the steps I did for our OAS upgrade in an xterm session :
Installed weblogic 10.3.4 software (replace this with 10.3.[5/6]) (do not create domain,, just install the software) remember to user OFA for your pathing, it will help if you start using more middleware products /u01/oracle/Middleware for example would be the middleware home with wlserver_10.3 beneath that
Install install forms & reports again software only (if you go down the PFRD route, you have to install the 11.1.1.2.0 install and then patch to 11.1.1.4.0 and patch again to 11.1.1.6.0 (install takes 80 minutes, each patch about 50 minutes) for the install you choose all software
setup you environment have your jave home set (use jdk 1.6.0 u24 - 33 ) you might get issues trying to use java 7 (thats a seperate upgrade process)
cd $ORACLE_HOME/bin (this would be /u01/oracle/Middleware/<install of binaries path>/bin)
    ./config.sh &
choose your domain name wisely the default is classic_domain, I changed ours to FormsReports (what ever you chose will appear in your file path and process paths)
    admin user and passowrd etc..
for the software config select all and un-select the discoverer and portal option leave everything else (we do deployed realtime compilation from source controlled libaries so we have installed the compilers also)
the config.sh once your get to the configure summary, will create your node manager, weblogic domain, AdminServer, WLS_FORMS and WLS_REPORTS managed servers, once the configure completes and exits you'll be able to http://localhost:7001/console
You'll need the below info to restart the JVM's the installers starts each jvm by the scripts located below (with no nodemanager setup)
your .profile settings will need the PATHS for $ORACLE_HOME/bin, $JAVA_HOME/bin setting as well asn your /usr bin settings, LD_LIBRARY_PATH will need $ORACLE_HOME/lib, $JAVA_HOME/lib
also create aliases for your domain home $domain_dir = /u01/oracle/Middleware/user_projects/domains/classic_domain under the bin directory will be the startweblogic script and start manageded servers scripts (manual) i'll leave the fun of automation up for you :) there are enough blogs and 3 different ways of doing it, the node manager startup script is in $WLS_HOME/server/bin
to configure your forms.cfg, httpd.conf etc you will find all those in
$mwHOME/instance/config (or whatever you had your instance path set to), the forms.cfg and default.env files are DEEP down the root 7 or 8 sub directories down so make a symlink once you locate it) you can reuse most of your default.env and forms.cfg settings form your 6i install
    and good luck
the above is pretty much what i did if you want step by step guides again there are enough blogs you can google to cover installing, configuring, autostartup(node manager setup)
Remember to Patch the bsu (BEA Smart Update with version 3.30 so you can apply CPU weblogic patches, theres one for JAN 2013 for 11.1.1.6.0) weblogic does not use OPatch regardless of what the readme file says :)
Edit: Almost forgot your opmn services, in your profile set ORACLE_INSTANCE=$mwHOME/instance (/u01/oracle/Middleware/instance) then you can run opmnctl (add $ORACLE_HOME/opmn/bin to path)
    opmnctl status
    Processes in Instance: PFRD_Inst
    --------------------------------------------------------------+---------
    ias-component | process-type | pid | status
    --------------------------------------------------------------+---------
    emagent_PFRD_Inst | EMAGENT | 29078 | Alive
    RptSvr_hostname_PFRD_Inst | ReportsServerComp~ | 29075 | Alive
    webcache1 | WebCache-admin | 29073 | Alive
    webcache1 | WebCache | 29074 | Alive
    ohs1 | OHS | 29072 | Alive
remember your opmn services look after the apache server and webcache if these aren't running you r will get forms/reports errors, like backend bridge failure if ohs is down, or nothing displayed 404 errors if webcache is down

using Standalone server).did u include both these jars in the "weblogic's class path" ?
in that case, it obviously wont work.
what u need is an understanding of the following topics (i have described them briefly, but for details u can always check the documentation of weblogic):
    1. Class loaders in weblogic: there are various levels of class loaders. at the top is the weblogic's class loader. below it are various EARs' class-loaders. and so on....
    2. Packaging. You must ensure that in the same class loader, there are not two classes from 2 different jars.
    hope that helps

  • Accessing config information in XML file in a Weblogic web service (JWS)

    Problem:
I have implemented a web service for sending emails and pages via Java Mail and SNPP respectively using WebLogic Workshop on the BEA WebLogic 8.1 platform. In the service, I use certain pieces of information that are currently stored in an XML file on disk. Also, in its current state, the web service is implemented with public methods directly in the .jws Java file and not as a session bean. The file read from disk is performed every time the web service operation to send a message is invoked. As we all know, the I/O files access is very expensive and a performance bottleneck, especially when it is incurred on every invocation of the web service ‘sendMessage’ [operation.
Without radically re-writing the application, I am looking for a way to improve the performance of the web service and can only come up with the following 2 ways:
    1) Move the code out of the sendMessage operation: Here, the main question I have is 'to where should I move it to'? I have seen in the WebLogic Workshop documentation that WebLogic Server maintains only a single instance of a Java class that implements a Web Service operation, and each invoke of the Web Service uses this same instance. In that case, I should be able to put the code in the constructor so that the files is read only at the time the class is instantiated, but a constructor in the .jws file that contains the web service operations itself does not seem to be invoked by the container (I tried to put a breakpoint in the constructor, but it seems that the constructor code never gets called)
    2) Move the configuration variables into some type of standard configuration file of WebLogic, something like web.xml or wlw-config.xml or jws-config.properties files. But I found that these XML files have an associated schema to conform to and do not provide any custom elements or attributes that I could add for my application(is that true?). Also, if I can somehow put the configuration information into any of these standard files, how do I access it from within the application 'without' doing a file read from disk? Are these configuration file items available in memory for access and use by the web service and if they are, what API can I use to access and use them?
Any and all ideas are welcome!
    Thanks!

I have been looking into a similar problem. Since web services are by design stateless, they aren't good for 'remembering' information between calls. Aside from a file read, the only other solution I have found is to use a database. You can make use of an entity bean or simply make some kind of JDBC call. I don't know if you need to stick with the config file, but if so maybe you could read the config data into a database once and then you might have faster access than reading from a file. I'm not sure about which would have better performace, but its all I have come up with so far. What parser are you using to read your XML file? Have you tried others to see if they have better performance?
