Documentations for Connection Server

In BOE XIR2, there are some functions below.
CMC -> Servers -> Connection Server
                            Tab: Properties ->
                            Connection Pooling
-Connections Not Managed By the Pool
                              -No Timeout
                              -Maximum Pool Time:
                            Connection Server Job
                              -Timeout for Inactive Jobs:
If there are documentations to explain these functions's details?
Thanks.

> The Connection Server interface in the CMC modifies the cs.cfg file on the server.
> Please check the XIR2 Data Access Guide for details on these options (Chapter 8)
Hi Caroline,
Thanks for your help, it's really helpful.
But I still have a question.
According to your explanation, I tested the Connection Server's parameters as blew.
TEST 1----
CMC -> Servers -> Connection Server
Tab: Properties ->
Connection Pooling
-Maximum Pool Time: 77
Connection Server Job
-Timeout for Inactive Jobs: 88
>
cs.cfg

            <Parameter Name="Max Pool Time">77</Parameter>
            <Parameter Name="Enable Transient Object Monitor">Yes</Parameter>
            <Parameter Name="Transient Object Loop Delay">5</Parameter>
            <Parameter Name="Transient Object Timeout">88</Parameter>
        </Server>
TEST 2----
CMC -> Servers -> Connection Server
Tab: Properties ->
Connection Pooling
-Connections Not Managed By the Pool
Connection Server Job
-Timeout for Inactive Jobs: 60
>
cs.cfg

The question is what's the different between "Max Pool Time" and "Transient Object Timeout"?
Thanks!

  • Documentation for changing Server name

    Hi,
I'm looking for documentation for changing server name. Ex. from prod1.domainname.com to prod2.domainname.com. We only change the server name, not the server itself.
Does someone know where I can find it?
    Thanks
    André

On the server side you need to edit two files:
    1. ORACLE_HOME/network/admin/listener.ora
depending on the protocols you are accepting connections on, you need to change the value for HOST = <new server name goes here>
    2. ORACLE_HOME/dbs/init<SID>.ora
You probably haven't specified this parameter, but if you did specify a value for LOCAL_LISTENER, then change it accordingly.
On the client and server side you need to edit one file
    1. ORACLE_HOME/network/admin/tnsnames.ora
Find the service names that refer to the databases that live on the server whose name was changed. If TCP is the protocol being used to connect to these databases, then change the HOST = <new server name goes here> accordingly.

  • Can fiber channel be used for connect server to a storage in two nodes RAC

I decided to have an Oracle RAC cluster with only two nodes.
The storage I have is a sun 3510FC. Also have five fiber chanal ports. But my each server (Sunfire v240) has got one Ultra160SCSI multimode (SE/LVD) not any fiber chanal ports. I found that there is some FC card available to use but none fiber switch available. I want to install this FC cards to the servers and make a straight connection with fibre cable to the storage. Can this be asolution or do i have to have a fibre switch?

    Hi
Irrespective of whether such a configuration is supported or not by Oracle.
Has anybody got 10gR2 RAC working on
    a. 2 servers
    b. shared storage with HBA and fibre channel cables
    c. interconnect on LAN
(yes we know it is not supported by Oracle...but again we are not going production on that....just for demo/training purposes)
    No FC switch
    No ethernet switch
If anybody has got this working would be great to hear of 'issues to guard against'
    Thanks

  • Documentation for RoboHelp Server 8

The site is behind a version. Is it the same as 7? I know there is one accompanying the exe installation, but I do not have access to a server yet. I am trying to write a business case and to show a proof of concept in a sandbox environment.
    Thank you.

    Hi. jCoria.
I just looked at the main product page you are referring to. There is a separate heading titled, "Did you know?" This section is meant to introduce other products including Adobe's Technical Communication Suite of which RoboHelp Server 8 is not a part. I agree that the inclusion of Adobe AIR on that page is confusing, though I would not say misleading, if you follow the links provided. From that same page it is mentioned that RH Server 8 supports both WebHelp Pro and FlashHelp Pro as output. It does not support the browser-based AIR Help at this time as I understand it.
I am not an Adobe employee but I can say that as an instructor/consultant I have taught three RoboHelp classes in the past four weeks for major firms where we also installed Adobe RoboHelp Server 8. Two of those clients had previously used the old RoboEngine (the old eHelp/Macromedia version of the server.) The installations went smoothly and the IT people were very happy to see that the new RH Server 8 does not require the IIS server and .NET Framework as in the past (though it is supported if that is desired). I don't use Madcap's Feedback Server, but my understanding is that it  does require IIS.
The new Java-based RoboHelp Server 8 uses the free and open-source Apache Tomcat Server with Apache's powerful Lucene Search engine. I found it to be very easy to install and configure. This is the first iteration of the Java-based application and at first I found the documentation to be limited. This is because there are many network architectures and platform technologies that are used around the world. The initial  documentation did not cover all combinations. However, there have been many  improvements since the initial release. I also found Adobe engineers were most helpful in answering my questions where I hit a gap in the documentation. For example, there has been valuable information on this forum offered by Adobe engineer Tulika Garg along with our peers on this forum including the excellent blog offered by Colum McAndrew.
Another major benefit of this new version is enormous flexibility in restricting access to content. So the author can set up what are called "Areas" which can either be unprotected as normal or set up as protected which requires authentication. It's like having separate websites on the same server without having to buy licenses for each.
Regarding your comment about coming from a Flare environment, I would mention that I have a Flare-to-RoboHelp project converter which you may find useful. It is free and available on my website.

  • Inbound Adapter / 'Sink' failing for Content Server on Subscription Client

I am running into an issue in configuring the Outbound - Inbound Adapters for Connection Server / Subscription Client against Content Server. The details are below. Would sincerely appreciate if anyone can help with this.
I have installed a Oracle UCM setup together with two Content Server instances (Contribution instance and Live instance), a Connection Server and a Subscription Client - all within the same virtual machine on top of Windows XP SP2 OS and Oracle 10g Database.
I have further configured the Outbound Adapter on the Connection Server and the Inbound Adapter on the Subscription Client. All installation and configuration has been done following the step-by-step process from the relevant installation guides.
We have tested the connectivity between the Connection Server and the Subscription Client for a simple file-based content source and it works fine - i.e., files added to a directory registered as a source on connection server are retrieved and sent to the subscription client and received there successfully / dropped in the specified target client directory.
However, this transfer fails for the Content Server Outbound-Inbound Adapter connectivity. We have an Archive in Content Server registered as a "CNSArchive" and exporting successfully to the CNS Server. The registered outbound adapter is successfully able to receive these updates and are visible through the Connection Server
interface. The subscription client is also apparently able to receive these updates
    correctly and writes them to the specified folder/directory on the client;
however fails to "batch load" these and reports a failure writing to the
    Content Sink.
What we would like is for the ability to establish end-to-end connectivity between the contribution content server instance and the live content server using the connection server + outbound adapter on the sending end together with the subscription client + inbound adapter together on the receiving end. This is failing.
I have double checked the cns.oracle.config (connection server config), siclone.config (subscription client config), and the source content server's configuration (config.cfg), and all seems to be well. Not really sure therefore what is causing this.
Here is a snippet of the error trace that keeps showing up in the subscription client logs ...

  • Is there a manual for Lion Server?

Where can I find detailed documentation for Lion Server?

Piggy-backing but the lack of official documentation amazes me and can be seen as a sign of immature product roll-out.  My similar question is below, but unless something has changed I will be looking at 3d party books (yes, in paper).
What is the best overall documentation and guide for using OS X Lion Server?  I am using a Mac Mini (2.3/8GB/500GB) and learning the server in preparation for a small office server.  I am just using it at home now but going to try multiple user config for iCal, document sharing, remote access, VPN server, print server, mail server, and back-up.  I am suprised not only by the presence of so much adverse comment but even more by the apparent lack of solid and readily available documentation from apple--maybe it is there and I have just missed it.  I downloaded from apple.com the .pdf
    Lion Server
    Upgrading and
    Migrating
For Mac OS X v10.7 Lion Server.
Not much there for getting started from scratch.  I viewed www.apple.com/macosx/server/  which is more marketing than help.  I also went to https://discussions.apple.com/community/servers_enterprise_software/mac_os_x_lio n_server and ended up back here.  Is there a good old fashioned paper book that I can sit in the sun with a cup of tea and start to both skim and study?

  • Is there documentation for System Image Utility

I appears that the best documentation for SIU is the ToolTips that pop up when you hover your mouse over an item.
Has anyone found proper documentation for Lion Server's System Image Utility?

    Ed
At the moment there is very little for Lion Server. What little there is, is here:
    http://manuals.info.apple.com/en_US/lion_server_upgrading_migrating.pdf
    https://help.apple.com/advancedserveradmin/mac/10.7/
It may be safe to assume that some of the Core Services are going to be essentially the same (with a few minor additions) as what went before. This was certainly the case when 10.4 moved to 10.5 and similarly when 10.5 moved to 10.6. In which case the relevant 10.6 Admin Manual should help in some way?

  • New server and/or CA certificate for connection from custom authentication

We are running Access Manager version 72005Q4 in the Sun ONE Web Server 6.1SP5 B06/23/2005 container with java build 1.5.0_07-b03. I run a custom authentication module which checks sessions against our university single sign on system which is CAS (from Yale/Jasig). The checks are essentially https calls. All this has been working well for us for the last couple of years.
I would like to migrate the certificate used on the university CAS system from a Verisign certificate to a wildcard certificate issued by the IPS CA in spain -- these are in most browsers but are not in the standard batch of cacerts CA's -- and are free for .edu domains.
My other java based authentication plugins (Blackboard, custom apps etc) have worked fine once I import the certificate into the cacerts for the java container, but I'm missing something (obvious probably) about importing this certificate so that my amserver custom authentication module can connect to the CAS server once the CAS server is using the new certificate.
Could anyone provide guidance on where I need to import this server certificate (or preferably the IPS CA) in order to allow the custom authentication module to work properly? I assume this same problem has been solved by people wishing to connect from the amserver to services with self signed certificates. For some reason I'm finding the debugging unexpectedly difficult, I'll outline some of those details below.
Relevant things I've tried so far:
Import both the server cert and the IPS CA into the cacerts of the java container identified in the web server server.xml /usr/jdk/entsys-j2se.
Import the IPS CA into the web server cert8 style db via the web admin server.
The debugging has surprised me a bit, as I'm not getting an error that is explicitly SSL related error. It almost seems like the URLConnection object ends up using a HttpURLConnection rather than an HttpsURLConnection and never gives me a cert error, rather a connection refused since there is no non SSL service running on CAS. The same code pointed to the server running the verisign cert works as expected.

The fact that this same code in other authentication modules running outside the amserver (in other web containers as well, tomcat and resin for example) running java 1.5 works fine with the new CA, as well as with self signed certs that I've imported into the appropriate cacerts file leads me to believe that I'm either importing the certificate into the wrong store, or that there is some additional step needed for the amserver in the Sun Web container.
Thank you very much for any insights and help,
    Ethan

I thought since this has had a fair number of views I would give an update.
I have been able to confirm that the custom authentication module is using the cert8 db defined in the AMConfig property com.iplanet.am.admin.cli.certdb.dir as documented. I do seem to have a problem using the certificate to make outgoing connections, even though the certificate verifies correctly for use as a server certificate. This is likely a question for a different forum, but just to show what I'm looking at:
    root@jbc1 providers#/usr/sfw/bin/certutil -V -n "FSU Wildcard Certificate" -d /opt/SUNWwbsvr/alias -P https-jbc1.ucs.fsu.edu-jbc1- -u V
    certutil: certificate is valid
    root@jbc1 providers#/usr/sfw/bin/certutil -V -n "FSU Wildcard Certificate" -d /opt/SUNWwbsvr/alias -P https-jbc1.ucs.fsu.edu-jbc1- -u C
certutil: certificate is invalid: Certificate type not approved for application.
    root@jbc1 providers#/usr/sfw/bin/certutil -M -n "FSU Wildcard Certificate" -d /opt/SUNWwbsvr/alias -P https-jbc1.ucs.fsu.edu-jbc1- -t uP,uP,uP
    root@jbc1 providers#/usr/sfw/bin/certutil -V -l -n "FSU Wildcard Certificate" -d /opt/SUNWwbsvr/alias -P https-jbc1.ucs.fsu.edu-jbc1- -u C
FSU Wildcard Certificate : Certificate type not approved for application.
So it could be that I don't understand how to use the certutiil to get the permissions I want, or it could be that using the same certificate for both server and client functions is not supported -- though you can see why this would be a common case with wildcard certificates.
BTW for those interested, it did seem to be the case that when the certificate failure occurred that the attempt was then made by the URLConnection to bind to port 80 in cleartext even though the URL was clearly https. I'm sure this was just an attempt to help out misformed URL, but it seemed that the URLConnection implementation in the amserver would swapped traffic over cleartext if that port had been open on the server I was making the https connection to; that seems dangerous to me, I would not have wanted it to quietly work that way exposing sensitive information to the network.
This was why I was getting back a connection refused instead of a certificate exception. The URLConnection implementation used by the amserver is defined by java.protocol.handler.pkgs=com.iplanet.services.comm argument passwd to the JVM, and I imagine this is done because the amserver pre-dates the inclusion of the sun.net.www.protocol handlers, but I don't know, there maybe reasons why the amserver wants it own handler. I only noticed that this is what was going on when I as casting the httpsURLConnection objects to other types trying to diagnose the certificate problem. I would be interested in hearing if anyone knows if there is a reason not to use sun.net.www.protocol with the amserver.
After switching to the sun.net.www.protocol handler I was able to get my certificate errors rather than the "Connection Refused" which is what lead me to the above questions about certutil.

Regardless of the version, this is not exactly a "Forms" failure. This is an issue between OHS and WLS. Basically it means that OHS (via mod_wl_ohs) was unable to communicate with WLS_FORMS (or whichever managed server you are trying to access). Most often this means the managed server is not running or not responding. If you believe it is running and is responsive (test by hitting it directly) then the problem is probably related to your installation. Generally, if you have not properly configured your networking before you installed WLS and FMw, then this can occur. For example, on Windows machine which do not have static IP addresses, the Installation Guide instructs you to install the Windows loopback adapter and configure it. If you did not do this, OHS likely will not be able to contact WLS_FORMS.
You can test what I have described above by attempting to access WLS_FORMS directly. For example:
    http://yourHost:9001/forms/frmservlet
If that works, the issue is probably related to a net config issue.
If you have access to MyOracle Support, refer to these notes:

  • Documentation for oracle webcenter wiki and blog server 10.1.3.2.0

    Hi
Can anyone tell me where I can get the documentation for oracle webcenter wiki and blog server 10.1.3.2.0. I am specifically interested in this version and not the latest version Oracle® WebCenter Wiki and Blog Server 10g Release 3 (10.1.3.4.0) because I have heard the older version provided out of the box portlets for creation of blogs.
Since we want blogs very fast, I want documentation of this older version.
Can anyone point them out to me as soon as possible please

You can find the demo portlets here: http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/webcenter/owcs_10132_demos.html#wiki_blog_disc_samples
I do not believe there were any portlets provided with the earlier release.
Anyway what i think is it should not take you more than a few hours to integrate blogging functionality if you are using the Connection & Task flows provided by WebCenter.

    HI
    In JDeveloper 10.1.3.1.0,
    1. Click on the tab for the Connections navigator.
    2. Right click on Application Server and select New Application Server Connection.
    3. Enter a descriptive name for the new connection, and select the appropriate connection type from the drop down list. Click Next.
    4. Specify oc4jadmin for User Name, then enter the oc4jadmin password. Click Next.
    5. Select Single Instance for Connect To, then provide the host name where BPEL is installed, the OPMN port number, and the OC4J instance name (the default for 10.1.3.1 is oc4j_soa). Click Next.
    6. Click Test Connection. If you have been successful, you should see "Success!"
    7. Now, right click on Integration Server and select New Integration Server Connection.
    8. Specify a connection name and click Next.
    9. In the drop down list by Application Server, select the Application Server Connection you just created. Again, specify the host name where BPEL is installed and the port number. This port number will be the same that you specified for the Integration Server Connection to the home OC4J container. Click Next.
    10. Test the connection. You should see something like:
    Application Server: OK
    BPEL Process Manager Server: OK
    ESB Server: OK
    11. Now, return to the Applications navigator, and try to redeploy your process using the Integration Server Connection just created. (It is possible that you will have to close JDeveloper and then reopen it for this to work.)
    Cheers

  • Connect Azure Pack to Service Bus for Windows Server with Custom DNS

Hello! I'm trying to configure Azure Pack to use Service Bus for Windows Server 1.1 with Custom DNS.
All runs on one virtual machine (Windows Server 2012 R2) in Windows Azure.
    I following this post:
    roysvork.wordpress.com/2014/06/14/developing-against-service-bus-for-windows-1-1
Replace FramDNS "servicebus" to "mymachine.cloudapp.net", and create certificate:
    SelfSSL /N:CN=mymachine.cloudapp.net /V:1000 /T
    On Windows Azure Virtual Machine:
    1.I'll set publuc DNS: mymachine.cloudapp.net
    2.Open ports: 10354,10355,10356,10359,10000-10004
    3.In hosts file: 127.0.0.1 mymachine.cloudapp.net
    4.Create certificate:
    SelfSSL /N:CN=mymachine.cloudapp.net /V:1000 /T
    PowerShell:
    Stop-SBFarm –Verbose
    Set-SBFarm -FarmDns 'mymachine.cloudapp.net'
    Update-SBHost –Verbose
    Start-SBFarm –Verbose
New-SBAuthorizationRule -NamespaceName ServiceBusDefaultNamespace -Name MainRule -Rights Manage, Send, Listen
Afther that i can connect to my ServiceBusDefaultNamespace with SAS.
It's work perfect. But, When I try to create Service Bus Namespace from Azure Pack Tenant portal - in Log an Exception:
Namespace Provisioning Exception. TrackingId: . SystemId: . Namespace: SomeNamespace.
Method: Activating. Exception: System.Net.Http.HttpRequestException: An error occurred while
sending the request. ---> System.Net.WebException: The underlying connection was closed:
Could not establish trust relationship for the SSL/TLS secure channel. --->
System.Security.Authentication.AuthenticationException: The remote certificate is invalid according
    to the validation procedure.
And status of namespace - Activating.
    Please help!

    Hi Alexander,
According to the log, it seems that the validation process of the certificate failed.
Please make sure that the certificate is installed in the client properly.
Usually, self-signed certificate should be installed in the Computer Account-->Trusted Root Certificate Authorities.
    Best Regards.

  • No more connections available to this remote computer...Urgent Help for File server...

    Hi Guys,
I need urgent help regards to our school File server which is having "No more connection to this remote computer error"
on SMB Shares where I usually authenticate with a domain username it used to work fine since till 3 weeks ago.
Now I can browse the SMB shares with only IP... Netbios gets straight away this error message from non-domain joined pc's where the computer needs to connect to the SCCM distribution point on this file server.
Strangely, Domain joined pc's does not have this problem at all they can use Netbios or IP no problem at all. But someone from a standalone laptop or desktop who needs to access shares through netbios gets this message.
    Can someone help me please?
I did check DNS yet there is no problem on DNS I checked PTR record for the server to make sure it is not turned in to multihome accidently but nothing at all.
I also did a NETMON where I captured the data from server and the client I get these errors:

    Regards,
    Gokhan

    Solution has been found,
After doing bit of a backtrack, site DC's were out of sync with PDC with time.
Also Time service was shutdown on PDC which has been enabled and pointed to the Australian pool ntp IP address.
Everything is back on track now.
