Does Audit Trail degrade the performance on 11g ?

Oracle 11g DB actually turns on standard audit trail function via DBCA.
Could anybody know how the negative impact for this function is ?
Is there any reference (Almost 5% perfermance impact )?
Thx so much.

Watami, reading your post reminded me that 11g comes with a set of default privileges automatically set up for auditing. Since the privileges are pretty much DDL and you should not be performing very much DDL on a production database I would think the overhead would be almost too low to measure.
For those unware of this feature change or who have forgotten like me here are the default audit privileges:
Oracle Database audits the following privileges by default:
ALTER ANY PROCEDURE CREATE ANY LIBRARY                     DROP ANY TABLE
ALTER ANY TABLE         CREATE ANY PROCEDURE                DROP PROFILE
ALTER DATABASE          CREATE ANY TABLE                        DROP USER
ALTER PROFILE              CREATE EXTERNAL JOB                   EXEMPT ACCESS POLICY
ALTER SYSTEM              CREATE PUBLIC DATABASE LINK      GRANT ANY OBJECT PRIVILEGE
ALTER USER                  CREATE SESSION                           GRANT ANY PRIVILEGE
AUDIT SYSTEM              CREATE USER                                GRANT ANY ROLE
CREATE ANY JOB           DROP ANY PROCEDURE
Oracle Database audits the following SQL shortcuts by default:
ROLE                     SYSTEM AUDIT           PUBLIC SYNONYM
DATABASE LINK      PROFILE                     SYSTEM GRANT HTH -- Mark D Powell --

  • Does he use of my internal mic degrade the performance of Dragon three dictate

    Does using my internal microphone of my MacBook Pro 2008 degrade the performance of my new Dragon dictate three.? It seems to work fine.

    I don't think it would degrade dragon dictate software. I've been using dragon naturally speaking for windows on my pc for several years and when I did not have my mic handy I would use the laptop's internal mic with no problems except for a little reduced accuracy. But everything would be back to normal once I switched back to my mic.

  • Does Audit Trail capture "delete" transaction?

    Hi All,
    Does Audit Trail functionality capture the "Delete" transaction? What i mean is that we delete the values in input template, and then send it.
    Our objective is to capture when, who and what data has been deleted and hope that Audit Trail can capture these informations.
    Thanks in advance,
    CW

    Into SAP BPC itransactions are not deleted.
    If you remove value into input schedule actually you are not removoing data from fact table.
    You are insertings new values into fact table but with oposite sign.
    That's means if you have 20 into your input schedule and you delete this value and sent then actually you sent -20 to database.
    In this way the total value is 0.
    Into SAP BPC you don't have remove transactions.
    Enabling Audit Data you will be able to capture all these information and you can track any change into system.

  • Does 1Z0-001 fit the requirement of 11g DB OCP requirement (1Z0-051)?

    Dear Sir:
       Hi, I would like to ask 3 questions about the certification requirement of 11g DB OCP.
    Please advice me what do I have to do to prepare the OCP exam, thanks a lot in advance.
    Q1:
    Does 1Z0-001 fit the requirement of 11g DB OCP requirement (pass 1Z0-001 = pass 1Z0-051)?
    AFAIK, 11g DB OCP requires passing 3 exams: 1Z0-051 (SQL), 1Z0-052 (AW1), 1Z0-053 (AW2) and finishing a hand-on course at least.
    I have passed the 1Z0-001 (Introduction to SQL ans PL/SQL) many years ago.
    After searching the discussion in the community, I've found 2 relative:
    https://forums.oracle.com/thread/2526631  It said :"1Z0-001 will satisfy the SQL requirement."
    https://forums.oracle.com/thread/2467872 It said : "I can confirm that the 001 exam will fulfill the SQL exam requirement if it was passed before it retired."
    I was confused on that. Please help me to clear it.
    Do I have to prepare the exam 1Z0-051 since I have passed 1Z0-001 (an retired exam)?
    Q2:
    Please confirm that finishing the SSC (Self-Study Course) DOES NOT apply the "hand-on course requirement ".
    It still need to pay more money for an instructor-led (face-to-face) course, right?
    Q3:
    Can I just finish ONE course "Oracle 11g Database Administrator Workshop II" from an Oracle authorized education center to fit the " hand-on course requirement " ?
    Sorry I have to ask this because the budget consideration.
    Thank you very much!

    A1 -- Yes, if you passed 1Z0-001, you do not need to take 1Z0-051.  When courses are retired, it simply means they are no longer given to *new* students.  Anyone who passed them still retains credit for having done so.
    A2 -- Self Study CDs do not count for the hands-in requirement.  On the approved courses page of OU, it specifically states: "Self Study CD-Rom and Knowledge Center courses are excellent study and reference tools but DO NOT meet the Hands-on Requirement for certification."
    A3 -- Only one course is required for the 11G OCP.  That one is on the approved list and so will be acceptable if the vendor is authorized by OU.

    I am a songwriter and want to upload my work to itune but I need a few question cleared up.
    1.     Does Itune interact with the Performing Arts organization such as BMI in order for artist to be paid or do i just set up a paypal account and pay artist myself?
    2.     What percentage of sales does itune take or is it a flat rate?
    3.     When i upload does itune give me an option to set price for my work.?

    In addition to the iTunes Store, you may wish to check out some of the online stores that may be a bit more flexible for artists just starting to sell online:

  • If adding more in-params to the stored proc degrade the performance at all?

    Hi All,
    I have a stored proc, currently having 18 in-params and i have to add 4 new in-params. I just want to know, if there will be any performance degradation or not?

    How can i deviate from the SW engr. concepts? I'm not from Mars. I just want to know, if there will be any perf. degradation, what is the cause behind that? What are the technical events occured inside the pl/sql compiler that degrades the performance.

  • Does sub program reduces the performance

    hi all,
    suppose that i have two solutions to increase the salaries of the employees for a table
    method 1:
    create or replace function inc_sal (pempno emp.empno%type) return integer
    is
    vsal emp.sal%type;
    begin
    select sal into vsal from emp where empno=pempno;
    vsal:=vsal+vsal*0.30;
    return(vsal);
    end;
    sql> select sal, inc_sal(empno) from emp;
    and
    method 2:
    sql> select sal, sal*0.30 as inc_sal from emp;
    now in the first method, for each record of the table the function is called and collect the returned value...
    but for the second method there is nothing like that
    so now which method is faster in performance, does the number of function calls in first method reduce the performance......?
    thanks and regards,
    sri ram.

    Oracle has a separate SQL and PL/SQL engine. When you go from one to the other, this is called a 'context switch'.
    A context switch is a costly operation.
    In variant 1 you seem to embed the function you wrote in SQL.
    This means
    - for each record you will have a context switch
    - in the function you call SQL: another context switch
    - The SQL in your function will show as recursive SQL and will never get merged into the main query.
    So actually variant 1 is a textbook example of 'slow by slow programming' or 'How to write unscalable applications'
    Remember Tom Kytes mantra:
    When you can do it in SQL, you should do it in SQL
    When you can't do it in SQL, you should do it in PL/SQL
    When you can't do it in PL/SQL, you should do it in Java (in the database)
    When you can't do it in Java, you should do it in any language outside the database.

  • In which cases does String.intern() increase the performance?

    I'm optimizing my program and I wonder when I should use the String.intern() method to increase my performance. Is there a downside of using the intern() method?

    I have once implemented a system where intern was called on all strings when they arrived from a socket, and all comparisons was done using == after that. The reason was actually performance since we had to compare lots and lots of strings often. There is however a drawback with it. calling intern() when you have many strings in the pool is very slow (I would guess that it was linear time). You it's now always that you can improve performance by calling intern and comparing with ==Good point.
    I think if I was in this position though, I'd create my own interned string pool instead of cluttering the one in String.We tried that as well. We pretty much did everything we could think of to reduce memory footprint while gaining execution time. Startup time was not of importance so it was not a problem that it took an hour to start the system.

  • Why does DVD Pro degrade the quality of my QT movies

    SUMMARY
    I have only been using Final Cut Studio for a couple of months, but have achieved good quality QT files for burning in DVD Studio Pro. Up to the stage of Compressor, the quality looks good. But import the files into DVD Pro and the image becomes blurred.
    If there is anyone out there who may be able to help I will willingly go into the depths of detail.

    Thanks for such a quick response to my posting. Being new to this kind of forum I wasn't anticipating such a quick reply. So ...
    Details:
    System info:
    MacPro 2,1
    2 x 3 GHz Quad-Core Intel Xeon
    4 GB Memory
    ATI Radeon X1900 XT
    Cinema HD monitor 1920 x 1200
    2 x Pioneer DVD-RW DVR-112D
    Mac OS X (10.4.11)
    Final Cut Studio 2 - ( FCP 6.0.2, Compressor 3.0.2, Soundtrack Pro 2.0.2, DVD Studio Pro 4.2.1, Motion 3.0.2 etc., )
    Adobe CS3
    I am trying to create the best quality DVD I can achieve using the following mixed input media
    1 avi Output from Camtasia Studio screen capture software which is captured "full screen" at 1024x640 by my client
    (This could be output directly at 1024x576 by cropping before saving and can be QT mov format if necessary - however so far I have been converting to QTmov directly before editing the client files in FCP to add transitions not available in Camtasia Studio)
    2 Quicktime movies created in Flash output at 1024x576 - these include digital images, Photoshop and Illustrator files
    3 dv PAL footage captured 16:9 anamorphic
    My workflow approach has been to edit in FCP, including sending to Soundtrack Pro Audio Project, then to export Using Compressor with the intention of importing the edited file into DVD Pro.
    However the Preview in Compressor has shown disappointing resolution and I don't have the knowledge to choose the best settings. I have tried many combinations to the point that I have thoroughly confused myself.
    At this stage I need a "guru" who can suggest the best settings throughout to achieve the optimum result.
    In answer to your other question, the potential viewer is likely to be viewing on a PC using Windows Media Player or on a Mac using DVD player, BUT I also want the DVD to be playable on a set top DVD player.
    I am viewing my production on my Mac monitor which as you can see above is high res.
    Thank you for offering help. All advice (except jumping off cliffs etc.) welcomed

  • How to see when SR Escalation was created in the Audit Trail

    We have an FDA requirement that the Oracle SR audit trail show when an escalation was created and closed. The audit trail doesn't show this currently in our system. Looking for a way to make this appear in the audit trail.
    We need to be able to provide a single audit trail through the forms (reports are not acceptable) that shows all SR details (as standard functionality) along with when the escalation was created and de-escalated (or closed)
    Any ideas using 11.5.10.2?

    Abhishek
    I tried to delete the extension, in the Log tab, I only got one error which is:
    Table CI_EEW_ORDERADM_H can't be created with package $TMP
    Seems like the deletion process tried to change the structure CI_EEW_ORDERADM_H.
    I checked this structure, there is already a field added by other developer, but this structure is apparently in another z-package.
    So what I should do now?
    Thanks

    does trigger slows down the performance.As compared to what?
    If the trigger is properly written, and if the action that the trigger is to perform would have been performed anyway by the application but at the application level, then perhaps a trigger could be faster.
    If the trigger is doing stuff that should have been done elsewhere (eg: instead of declarative constraints) then a trigger could be slower.
    If the trigger is doing stuff on a per-row basis that could be done better on a per-set basis, especially when handling bulk data (which is the specialty of an RDBMS, much to many developer's surprise), then realize we often turn off constraints for exactly that reason during bulk loads.
    If the trigger is doing stuff that it shouldn't be doing at all, well ... I let you figure that one out.
    In the mean time, I have no idea of the context of the question and therefore the answer - like so often in Oracle - is 'it depends'.

  • Use of Audit Trail in interface

    Hi All,
    I want to use audit trail in the existing ABAP -Hr interface , how can I do so .
    Thanks In Advance

    Create the interface with DW_PROJECT_BUILDING table and give this table a name PB.
    Now put one filter on the table with the conditions that you have just mentioned in the query above, with the exist statement.
    I assume data from this table is targeted into one more aggregated table: here is the definition for the table:
    CREATE TABLE PROJECT_BUILDING_AGGR
    (PROJ_BUILD_KEY VARCHAR2(20),
    PROJECT_KEY varchar2(20));
    perform mapping like :
    PROJECT_KEY=PB.PROJECT_KEY
    PROJ_BUILD_KEY=count(distinct PB.DW_PROJECT_BUILDING_KEY)
    Select IKM as IKM SQL control append.
    FLOW control as false.
    run the interface, it is giving something like this for me, I hope this is according to your requirement:
    insert into
    ORACLE_SOURCE.PROJECT_BUILDING_AGGR
    PROJ_BUILD_KEY,
    PROJECT_KEY
    select
        PROJ_BUILD_KEY,
    PROJECT_KEY
    FROM (
    select
    count(distinct PB.DW_PROJECT_BUILDING_KEY) PROJ_BUILD_KEY,
    PB.PROJECT_KEY PROJECT_KEY
    from
    ORACLE_SOURCE.DW_PROJECT_BUILDING   PB
    where
    (1=1)
    And (EXISTS
                    (SELECT 1
                       FROM DW_PROJECT_BUILDING PB1
                      WHERE     PB1.PROJECT_KEY = PB.PROJECT_KEY
                            AND PB1.RECORD_STATUS_ID = 1)
             AND PB.RECORD_STATUS_ID = 1
             AND TRUNC (PB.LOAD_DT) >= '03-OCT-2013')
    Group By PB.PROJECT_KEY

  • Audit log of the User access and permissions

    Hi All,
    We need to have the Audit trail of the user access and permission. Meaning Changes to user access rights will be logged.
    This should include:
    Current Access Rights (including Date the access was given),
    Group membership (including Date the access was given),
    Previous Access Rights (including Date the access was given and revoked).

    Hi PChamoun,
    At the outset thanks a lot for the clue. I am very new to CQ. Could you please guide me like, what are the API required to track the rep:policy node changes. Even if workflow will be started after any change to rep:policy but how I will be able to get the information of what change happened.
