Does Firefox save the temporary internet files as form of JPG or AVI?

Hi
I really feel satisfaction about Firefox.
And I have a question that whether it remain or not temporary internet files as form of JPG, AVI etc.
I know that Firefox remains 'cache' when I surfing the internet with it.
You know, internet explorer remains temporary internet files as JPG file or AVI, MP4...
I'm just wondering that does Firefox remain 'caches' only.

One way or another Firefox tries to save quite a bit of information in order to run smoothly and help you. What problem do you have that you are trying to solve ?

You can get the same results (as turning protected mode off) by:
(presuming you have an icon for Internet Explorer on your desktop or taskbar) -- right click the icon and pick "Run as administrator"
I've got the same problem printing to pdf (Acrobat v8; problem's only in IE7) on a Dell Optiplex/Vista Business desktop machine (though not my T61/Vista Ultimate Thinkpad laptop) and the above resolves the issue for my desktop machine. Certainly not a fix but perhaps a clue to Adobe developers, on the [slim?] chance they read these posts.

Just delete that file in the temp folder and cleanup that folder.

• Location/directory used by JRE, for saving the temporary Internet files

Hello sir,
I am working on a project( in JavaFX ) which takes the URL of a streaming FLV video( eg: http://sun.edgeboss.net/download/sun/media/1460825906/1460825906_11810873001_09c01923-00.flv ) as input and plays it in Media Player component.
I have successfully played the streaming video, by taking the aid of sample project, Media Box( http://javafx.com/samples/MediaBox/ ).
Now I am interested in knowing the location/directory, where these temporary Internet files will be downloaded to. Please let me know, the location/directory used by JRE( on both Windows and Linux ) for saving the temporary Internet files. Also let me know, if there is any possibility of changing that location/directory.
Thanks for any help, in advance.

You should avoid posting the same message multiple times...
By definition, streaming is supposed to play the received movie data on the fly, without intermediary file. Now, it depends on implementation, if that's real streaming, etc., so in practice there might be a temp file, or not.
But this temp location will be, obviously, highly dependent on the current system (even between WinXP and Win7, for example). You can find the answer experimentally, eg. on Windows by using Sysinternals' Process Monitor application (did that to find out where Storage files go), but it is brittle.
I doubt there is (an official) way to know that from within the JavaFX application...

• Does Photostream save the 8mp photo files or just reduced copies?

I had taken several pictures with my new iPhone4S, but wasn't immediately concerned with connecting to my computer to save them since they are saved in the Photostream.
I used the OS5 Photos app to edit several photos (mostly cropping) and then I went to look for a particular photo I had taken and it was gone. An entire section of about 40 photos vanished from the camera roll, and I believe they were in between 2 photos that had been edited.
So I went to the Photostream album and found my photos and "Saved" them back to the camera roll. However, they were only about 3 or 5mb resolution copies and my 8mp files are gone.
I'm just wondering if anyone else has had any similar problems

Full resolution files are sent back to your computer for safekeeping, and kept in the cloud for 30 days. Smaller JPGs are sent to the iDevices, which helps speed up downloads. If you regularly use your iPad to import RAW photos from your camera, though, Photo Stream will send the whole files up to iCloud. Photo Stream has been this way since day one. Your Mac or PC will get the full resolution photo but your iOS device will only get a re-sized photo.

Thanks for your post! It answered my question. It's a SHAME photos are reduced in iOS device's Photostream.. they should give us the option for FULL RESOLUTION or device-optimized. :-/

• In Internet Explorer, in the internet options, you can change the temporary internet files to check for newer versions of stored pages. Can this be done in Firefox? And How?

I just want to know how I can change the settings to check for newer versions of stored pages in Firefox.

There is a hidden preference that controls when Firefox checks for a newer version. # Type '''about:config''' into the location bar and press enter
# Accept the warning message that appears, you will be taken to a list of preferences
# Locate the preference '''browser.cache.check_doc_frequency''', double-click on it to change its value
For details on the possible values of his preference see http://kb.mozillazine.org/Browser.cache.check_doc_frequency

• I want to delete temporary internet files. Notice I did not say clear the cache. That does not work! How can I delete the temp files? Why did you take that feature away? VERY frustrating that you would do that!

I search for how to delete temp int files and keep coming up with the "clear cache" crap. That is not what I searched for. Clear cache does NOT delete the temp files. Why would you take that feature away??

The Windows temporary internet files folder isn't used directly by Firefox. Firefox uses its own cache folder and you can see its current usage on the about:cache page via the location bar.
If anything does show up in the temporary internet files folder then it is likely caused by using MS plugins like the Windows Media Player or Silverlight. You need to clear that folder via IE or the control panel (internet settings).

• Why does FF use the IE Temporary Internet Files directory?

I have used Firefox exclusively as my browser for the past 6 months. Recently, I checked my "Temporary Internet Files" folder, where IE stores visited pages, and found it full and up to date, even though I had deleted everything in it when I started using FF. Why is Firefox storing data in here? Please note: On my computer, I have set up the "Temporary Internet Files" as the IE cach folder...IT IS NOT THE FF CACHE FOLDER. Thanks for any help.

Putting 'about:cache' into the navigation bar will show you some basic information about the cache.

• How can we change the default folder location (avoiding problems with Temporary Internet Files)

(Environment in question: Windows 7 secure desktop (running as user not admin), Office 2010)
Hello,
As has been touched on in various forums (such as here: http://forums.adobe.com/thread/797451), when one opens a PDF attachment in Outlook, Acrobat and Reader store the file in the "Temporary Internet Files" folder (f/k/a OLK folder in previous versions of Outlook. There are two major problems with this:
First, as Microsoft has documented in http://support.microsoft.com/kb/817878, attachments end up here staying here under certain conditions (go checks your now, you'll find some!), which ends up being a file attachment no man's land, and that can present security risks (e.g. if data we thought was deleted still lives in that folder).
Secondly, the first time you open an attachment in Acrobat and do a Save As, Acrobat is defaulting to the Temporary Internet Files location. This folder (as noted in the thread linked above) is ridiculously hard to get to for the average user, so they can end up storing a file and then losing it.
We've found that if we open Acrobat once, do a save as, and change to the users Documents folder, the change sticks. But how can we have Acrobat default to Documents instead of that temporary location?
Any help is greatly appreciated.

Have you check to see if Acrobat sets a registry entry or file preference for the first Save As? That's where I would start looking. Process Monitor is a good tool for this.

• How to clear the cache files in folder Temporary Internet Files

When one user opens files such as pdf. or doc. from Portal, the same file will be downloaded into the Temporary Internet Files folder. if another user copied the files out of the Temporary Internet Files folder from this computer and save to someplace else, then we face one security problem.
So my question is: How to clear the cache files in folder Temporary Internet Files?? Can we delete the files automatically when close the files in Portal??
or is there some ways to make encrypty???
Thanks very much!

Hello,
this is a basical security problem which should be resolved by the OS standard security setup . No other user should have access to the temporary file folders in the personal directory. The user account must be secure. Normaly your security problem should not be a problem if basic security exists on the clients.
You can resolve this problem if every user has his own account on the client
The users having no administration permissions on the clients
The folder for the temporary internet files is placed in the personal profile folder of the user account.
On default no other user has access rights to you personal folder, this means the client OS is setup correctly.
You can setup the IE that no temporary files are saved (but it reduces performance)
You can enable IE to delete automaticly the temporary files if IE is closed.
Hope it helps.
Regards
Alex

Where are the Temporary Internet Files in Vista.
I've been updating flash files on the web but my browsers

In Win XP Almost everything browsed on the web was downloaded
to
C:\Documents & Settings\User\Local Settings\Temporary

But I cant find the Vista equivalent. If I look in the

in Vista it
doesn't seem to change anything.
I just keep getting the original Flash in the browser. Where
is the web
content downloaded to?

You can find the location of the cache on the about:cache page (open that page via the location bar like a website).
Only large image and media files are stored as individual files on disk.
Other files are stored in a few large container files (_CACHE_XXX_) in the cache folder and not as separate files on disk.
The individual files on disk have random names without a file extension for security reasons: you can't open an application or start a downloaded virus inadvertently by clicking a file in the cache folder.
You can look at this extension for easier access to files in the cache.

• Where are temporary internet files kept

I am trying to change the location to where the temporary internet files are kept. I want to put them on another drive. Can you give me the path to them so I can change it? Thanks

hello, firefox uses the location for local application data set by the windows operating system to store its cache and other temporary files:
%localappdata%\Mozilla\Firefox\ which is usually placed under C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local
