Does snow leapard run with tiger 10.4.11

Please anyone?

Your question does not make sense. One version of OS X does not "run" with another version.
Tiger is OS X 10.4.x
Snow Leopard is OS X 10.6.x
The names Tiger and Snow Leopard refer explicitly to the OSs (Operating Systems), meaning the software. Those names do not refer to any hardware, such as a computer.
What model computer do you have (as specific as you can)?

  • How does a G4 iBook with Tiger run with 512 megs ram?

    Hi,
I am thinking about getting a G4 iBook that will have 512 megs of ram. How well does Tiger run with 512 meg of ram? I know that OSX loves ram. For word processing will I notice much difference if I expand it to the 1 1/2 gigs it will hold?
    Thank you

My ibook runs ok with tiger, but haven't used it for anything other than internet browsing.
    Ps, I have a mere 256mb RAM.

  • How do I get Linux on Slot Loading iMac G3 350 running with Tiger OSX?

    Hi,
How do I get Linux (Ubuntu) running alongside Tiger 10.4 on an iMac G3? I have a 350MHz Slot Loading iMac G3 Indigo currently running OSX 10.4. I would like to have Ubuntu and OSX on the same computer, so when I boot, I can choose which OS to boot into.
I have tried several times, but I can't seem to boot from the Ubuntu PPC CD. In the Ubuntu pages, it says that there are two types of iMac G3's. New style and Old Style. Supposedly New style ones are easier to have Ubuntu on it, but I don't know which I have.
    Any help is appreciated.

The "new style" they refer to is probably distinguished by the type of optical drive it has. The two types are completely different designs (on the inside), but the most obvious visual difference is the slot-loading optical drive in the newer design, and the tray-loading optical drive in the older design.
As for Ubuntu, is it an old enough version you are trying, so that it works on PowerPC Macs. How did you burn the CD (?), because some of those old drives may have trouble with booting (or even reading) some CDRW media. CDR generally works

  • Newbie: does ADF install/run with Eclipse instead of JDeveloper?

    Hi,
Can ADF install/run with Eclipse instead of JDeveloper?
    Thx

If you mean can you design ADF applications with Eclipse then yes, you can do that with Oracle Enterprise Pack for Eclipse. It isn't as full-featured as the JDeveloper experience, though.

  • Does Snow Leopard come with a word processor?

Tiger came with Appleworks. As far as I can tell, the only word processor that came with my new Mac is TextEdit. Was I gipped? Was something not installed on my computer that should have been? Or do I just have to buy Iwork?

Whilst not a high end word processor, TextEdit has more abilities than many people realize, or have spent time exploring.
It really has some great features.

  • Does Snow Leopard ship with dictionaries in any other languages?

Someone asked me this question today and I assumed that it did because it seems logical. However, I can not seem to get it working. If I change the language of my OS to French from English and then type up a document in Pages, will it spell check in French or am I on my own? What about Spanish, etc.?

By default, it is set to pick the language for spell check automatically. That assumes you set the language of the text, first. You can set the language of the text in Pages Text inspector. Select the text, click on More in the text inspector, and set the language.
I wrote a passage in my best 20+ year-old high school French, and it came up all marked wrong. I selected it and marked it as French, and the spelling all checked good.
I'm not sure what happens when you change the language of the computer and why that didn't switch everything for you. Was Pages still open when you changed? Did you restart?

  • Does APC's PowerChute V1.34 work well with Tiger?

Has anyone loaded APC's PowerChute personal edition V1.34 software for Mac?
Does it work well with Tiger/Leopard or cause problems?

Although I installed the APC PowerChute 1.3.4 (the version that supports Intel-based Macs, which is what I have), I ended up trying to use the 'Energy Saver' tab-> UPS (settings) -> UPS.
In there, I set it to have the computer :
    1) Shutdown the computer when it has been on UPS power for : 5 mins
    2) Shutdown the computer when the time left on UPS power is : 15 mins
    3) Shutdown the computer when the UPS power level drops to : 70%
I unplugged the UPS from the wall and watched the timer tick down, and the battery capacity drain... it was unplugged for well over 10 mins (criteria 1 should have fired, but didn't), it went down below 10 mins left on UPS, based on the tool bar indicator (criteria 2 should have fired, but didn't), it went down to about 45% full (criteria 3 should have fired).
Net result, I didn't wait for the Mac to crash, eventually, I lost in the game of chicken, and plugged the UPS back into the wall, with about 7 minutes of UPS time, 40% of UPS Battery Level, and having unplugged the UPS for about 10 minutes +.
Why is the Mac not shutting down ?
I do have the cable plugged into the UPS (APC UPS ES 650 G), and the other end is plugged into the USB port (I'm guessing I have that connected right, otherwise, the tab wouldn't show up in Energy Saver, and I wouldn't have the information about the UPS status available to me on the Mac).
    Help ?
    Thanks,
    Andy

  • Running Snow Leopard but need Tiger for ONE application... Possible?

Hello all... I currently have an intel Macbook Pro which is about 3.5 yrs old. My OS is Snow Leopard 10.6.4 and I love it.. however, I also need to use an old version of Avid Xpress Pro which recommends running 10.4.6-10.4.8 (Tiger). This is the only application that I have that requires this OS... Unfortunately, I need the app for now.
    My question is this:
Can I partition (or by any other means) a portion of my Mac for Tiger 10.4.8 and the rest for Snow Leopard?
If so how do I go about it?
    Many thanks!!

Having the original disks does not matter... the question is, what did your Mac _ship with_? If it shipped with Tiger, then you can certainly partition and install Tiger on a second partition. Of course, if it were me, I would probably just buy an external drive and install Tiger on that, but that's just personal preference. If you choose to partition, just make sure you've got a good set of backups. You should be able to do it without erasing, but should not gamble your data on it going off without a hitch.
OTOH, if your Mac shipped with something other than Tiger, you simply cannot run Tiger on it. See:

What are the steps I need to take to upgrade my Macbook with Tiger to Lion and the cloud?  I have the install disk for Snow Leopard.

Hi Carol, good/sound advice by Ziatron so far.
We need more info about your Mac to see if it will even be capable,
So we know more about it...
At the Apple Icon at top left>About this Mac, then click on More Info, then click on Hardware> and report this upto but not including the Serial#...
    Hardware Overview:
    Model Name: iMac
    Model Identifier: iMac7,1
Processor Name: Intel Core 2 Duo
    Processor Speed: 2.4 GHz
    Number Of Processors: 1
    Total Number Of Cores: 2
    L2 Cache: 4 MB
    Memory: 6 GB
    Bus Speed: 800 MHz
    Boot ROM Version: IM71.007A.B03
    SMC Version (system): 1.21f4
You'll need to buy SL/10.6 first & get it to 10.6.8, then get Lion... if you can run it.
Or if you can erase your disk...

    Snow Leopard/10.6.x Requirements...
    General requirements
       * Mac computer with an Intel processor
        * 1GB of memory (I say 2GB at least)
        * 5GB of available disk space (I say 30GB at least)
        * DVD drive for installation
        * Some features require a compatible Internet service provider; fees may apply.
        * Some features require Apple’s MobileMe service; fees and terms apply.
Which apps work with Mac OS X 10.6?...
    http://snowleopard.wikidot.com/
It looks like they do still have it:
    http://store.apple.com/us/product/MC573Z/A?fnode=MTY1NDAzOA
    If it's a core Duo & not a Core2Duo, then it'll only run in 32 bit mode.
    Snow Leopard/10.6.x Requirements...
    Lion/101.7 System requirements
        •    x86-64 processor (Macs with an Intel Core 2 Duo, Intel Core i3, Intel Core i5, Intel Core i7, or Xeon processor.)
        •    At least 2GB of memory, (I say 4GB)
        •    Latest version of Mac OS X Snow Leopard (10.6.8), with the Mac App Store installed
        •    At least 4GB of disk space for downloading, (I say 40GB at least)
Like Snow Leopard, Lion does not support PowerPC-based Macs (e.g., Power Macs, PowerBooks, iBooks, iMacs (G3-G5), eMacs).
Lion also does not support 32-bit Intel Core Duo or Core Solo based Macs. Rosetta is no longer available in Lion, which means Lion no longer supports PowerPC applications.
It looks like Apple will have Lion available on USB drives for $69...

Well Lion does not support power PC applications.  They only way is to upgrade the application, or if your have SL disks, reinstall SL.

  • After software update for Lexmark printer, cannot print document as a file is missing. My iMac runs with Snow Leopard.

I have a Lexmark 3500 - 4500 series printer connected to my iMac via USB (as my iMac won't do the printing wirelessly. My iMac runs with Mac OS X, Snow Leopard, Version 10.6.8.
A few days ago, there were several software updates that I have installed as there was mention that they were for Mac OS X Lion.
Today, I tried to print a document, and it failed. The error message was: "Missing component: /Library/Printers/Lexmark/Drivers/.Resources/3500-4500 Series Color 2.lut".
I have re-installed the software from Lexmark without success.
Has anyone had a similar issue who can advise me, please?
    Thank you.
    Philippe

Have you tried installing the Lexmark software from the Apple site:
Lexmark Printer Drivers v2.4 for Mac OS X v10.6
You are running 10.6 which the above link is for, maybe Lion (10.7) doesn't need everything that 10.6 does. Try re-installing using the above link.

  • Is the Tiger 10.4.x can run with any new computer like 2.66Ghz or up

Is the Tiger 10.4.x can run with any new computer like 2.66Ghz or up?

    No,
Earlier Intel Macs in this CPU range came with OS X 10.5 Leopard as their basic, installed OS X version.
Later models in this range came pre-installed with either OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard or OS X 10.7 Lion or OS X 10.8 Mountain Lion.

You can go strait to SL, all you need is a retail SL DVD available from Apple for $20. The US online store has them at:
