Domain Logon fails using wireless LAN

Hi Sir,
I am setting up an ACS server to authenticate the wireless LAN users using PEAP MS-CHAPv2for one of my existing customer. They need to login to domain whenever they need to access to the network
On the wireless client's end, the OS is Xp and the client will use Windows XP wireless zero configuration. I have put in the necessary setting in order for it to support PEAP. I managed to get authenticated by checking against the passed authentications log found in the ACS.
However, the problem happens when I tried to reboot the desktop and Domain Logon appears, I was not able to logon to the Domain. I think I know the cause of the problem. It was because the wireless card is not authencated yet prior to the Domain logon screen.
How can I connect to the wireless network prior to the appearance of the Domain logon windows. There is no options for me to try in the XP wireless zero configuration to activate the wireless LAN before the Domain Logon windows comes out.
Thank you.
Delon

Even if still it does not work, ensure the following:
1) Change the logon credentials for the ACS services to use a domain administrator account. Often times the local member server administrator account does not have any rights on the AD.
a. Ensure the ACS services start with the Domain Administrator account.
b. Ensure you are able to log in to the server using this Domain Administrator account .
c. Ensure the Domain Administrator account (or the account with which the services start) have privileges to log on locally, Log on as a service and Act as part of the operating system.
2) Ensure the FQDN of all domain controllers is added to the DNS names.

  • Nokia N81 reboots when using wireless LAN

    HAs anybody else come across this problem, I have a N81-3 with 8Gb sim card, basically when using wireless lan it reboots, I see there is a firmware upgrade that improves wifi stability but when using the software upgrader it says there are no updates available for my phone, any ideas.??

    The CR-200 only charges at 750mA and I am not even sure that is 100% transferred through the Qi charging. Charging at less than 1A will likely not be enough to keep up with the drain from using the phone while navigating. I think it will use much more than that.
    I use a Anker 13.000 mA battery with my phone while rinding my bike and have had several instances where I accidentally used the 1A output (it has both a 1 and 2 A output) to find that would actually not keep up with the phone running navigation and cycle tracking apps running (in addition to cellular and some other tasks).
    Navigation _will_ require some serious amount sof power and _will_ in general make the phone feel warm to the touch. I very much doubt a wireless charger will be able to provide the juice needed to keep up the charge.

  • Logon Failed using Crystal Report XI

    I wrote a VB 6 app that has the CRViewer and calls (.rpt's). The ".rpt's" use a MS Access 2003 database. This database DOES NOT have any security in the way of passwords. This application runs on a "stand-alone" system NO SERVER IS INVOLVED.
    The program and Crystal Reports work fine on my system. About a week ago, I tried to install Crystal Reports Release 2. I had a lot of problems. I deleted it and re-installed CR from my install cd's. Ever since then, I have had the following problem:
    I use MS Package and Deployment system to create the "Setup and Install" package. Ever since the above problem with Release 2, when I install and run the package on a different system, when I try to access the reports, I am getting a "Logon Failed" error message. PRIOR to trying to install Release 2, I never had this error message. I have no idea what is causing the problem.
    I even deleted and recreated the database--same problem exist.
    I have a very small scale-down version of this app. Is there any way I can send a "zip" file to you?
    Please, I have a deadline on this project. I need some serious help ASAP.
    In an effort to help resolve this problem, here is code from the scaled-down version: Prior to running this code, ReportPath = App.Path and ReportName = "Report1.rpt"
    This code is from my CRVIEWER form:
    Private Sub Form_Activate()
    Set craxreport = craxapp.OpenReport(ReportPath & "\" & ReportName)
        If ReportName = "Report1.rpt" Then
        End If
    DoReport:
        DoEvents
    ' ==============================================================================
        Screen.MousePointer = vbHourglass
        crviewer1.Refresh
        crviewer1.Zoom "100"
        While crviewer1.IsBusy
            DoEvents
        Wend
        crviewer1.ReportSource = craxreport
        crviewer1.Refresh
        crviewer1.ViewReport
        crviewer1.Refresh
        Set craxreport = Nothing
        Screen.MousePointer = vbDefault
    End Sub
    Private Sub Form_Load()
    Set craxapp = CreateObject("Crystalruntime.application.11")
    End Sub
    Private Sub Form_Resize()
    Me.Height = Screen.Height
    Me.Width = Screen.Width
    Me.Top = 0
    Me.Left = 0
    crviewer1.Top = 0
    crviewer1.Height = Me.ScaleHeight
    crviewer1.Width = Me.ScaleWidth
    frmCRPrint.Refresh
    End Sub
    This code is the "Connection" string:
    Public ReportPath As String
    Public craxapp As New CRAXDRT.Application
    Public craxreport As CRAXDRT.Report
    Public CRXDatabaseField As CRAXDRT.DatabaseFieldDefinition
    Public ReportName As String

    Public Sub OpenConnections()
    Set pconSports = New ADODB.Connection
            pconSports.ConnectionString = "Provider=Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0;Data Source=" & App.Path & "\Sports.mdb" & ";Persist Security Info=False"
            ReportPath = App.Path
        pconSports.Mode = adModeReadWrite
        pconSports.Open

    OK, a few details to go over.
    You do not need all of the below references:
    Crystal ActiveX Report Viewer Library 11.0
    Crystal Reports ActiveX Designer Design and Runtime Library 11.0
    Crystal Reports ActiveX Designer Library 11.0
    Crystal Reports ActiveX Designer Run Time Library 11.0
    As long as you are not using report creation APIs, you only need
    Crystal ActiveX Report Viewer Library 11.0
    Crystal Reports ActiveX Designer Run Time Library 11.0
    Which means you'd be using the craxdrt.dll (Dim myApp as New Craxdrt.Application), and the MSM files you need would be; crystalreports11_RDC_Runtime.msm, crystalreports11_RDC_license.msm (you need to add the keycode to this) and crystalreports11_RDC_reportEngine.msm.
    If you are using report creation APIs, you do not need Crystal Reports ActiveX Designer Run Time Library 11.0.
    Re. creation of deployment package:
    I reloaded CR XI on my Development System Build 11.0.0.895
    I installed CR XI on my other PC(Test) Build 11.0.0.895
    During the creation of the Install Package using MS Package and Deployment System
    I do not believe the MS Package and Deployment Wizard that came with VB 6 can handle MSM files(?). To use MS files, you have to use something like MS Visual Installer, InstallShield, Wise, etc.

  • I want to use Back to my Mac, but my iMac using wireless LAN will not wake from sleep

    I've read a ton of posts, and it seems that others have similar problems.
    Here are some details: I have a 2 year old iMac now running updated install of Yosemite. I have a brand new MBP running clean install of Yosemite.
    I have a 2 year old AirPort Extreme connecting my home wireless LAN. How can I get my MBP to connect to my iMac using Back to my Mac once the iMac has gone to sleep. Back to my Mac works if all computers are active.
    The appropriate energy saver selections have been made. Leaving the iMac awake is not an option.
    it just doesn't seem to work. No wake on wireless LAN?
    Help please

    Someone else may come along and have an idea, but as far as I know the iMac shuts off wifi when asleep so it can't be used to wake up the Mac. It has to be a wired connection.
    Leaving the iMac awake with the display off really doesn't use much energy so it might be worth considering.

  • SQL Service with Domain Logon fails to Auto Start but starts Manually

    I have set the SQL Service Logon to a Domain account. SQL Starts manually just fine, but it fails to start on reboot.
    I see these four errors in the Windows System Log:
    Event 1014 (Warning), DNS Client Events:
    Name resolution for the name .... timed out after none of the configured DNS servers responded.
    Event 5719, NETLOGON:
    This computer was not able to set up a secure session with a domain controller in domain ... due to the following:
    There are currently no logon servers available to service the logon request.
    This may lead to authentication problems. Make sure that this computer is connected to the network. If the problem persists, please contact your domain administrator.
    Event 1055, GroupPolicy:
    The processing of Group Policy failed. Windows could not resolve the computer name. This could be caused by one of more of the following:
    a) Name Resolution failure on the current domain controller.
    b) Active Directory Replication Latency (an account created on another domain controller has not replicated to the current domain controller).
    Finally: Event 7000, Service Control Manager:
    The SQL Server service failed to start due to the following error:
    The account name is invalid or does not exist, or the password is invalid for the account name specified.
    Apparently there is a delay between NETLOGON starting and "being aware" of the Domain. Apparently it still is not resolved by the time the SQL Service tries to start.  However it is resolved by the time the user logs in, so SQL Service successfully
    starts manually.
    For various reasons I cannot make the SQL Service DelayedAuto. Is there any way to configure NETLOGON Service or DNS Client to not return from the Startup process untl the DNS is resolved?

    A moderator can move it. I have no idea whether you can move it on your own. You can only delete your own post.
    I would suggest that you repost manually to the Windows Server forum, so that you can change the title to something which fits better there. Maybe the text can also benefit from a review. Your original problem was that SQL Server does not start directly,
    but you have already found out that you real issue is the DNS thing.

  • Crystal 2011 getting Logon failed IM004 error when using ODBC (RDO)

    I just installed Crystal Reports 2011 on Windows 7 Ultimate SP1.  Sporadically, but way too often (I would estimate about 60% of the time), when I go to set up an ODBC (RDO) connection or refresh an existing report and enter the password, I get the following error:
    Logon failed.
    Details: IM004:[Microsoft][ODBC Driver Manager] Driver's SQLAllocHandle on SQL_Handle_ENV failed
    Other times, it just works, with no changed made.  It seems to work slightly more often when using the SQL Server driver (the one for SQL 2000) as opposed to the SQL Native Client or SQL Server Native Client 10.0 drivers.  But not often enough for that to be the solution.
    I have tested this with a locally installed SQL Server (on the same machine as Crystal Reports) and remote SQL Servers, with SQL 2000, 2005 and 2008.  Same results.
    I have Crystal Reports 2008 installed on the same machine and have not once had this problem.  I have tried using the same ODBC connections I already had from Crystal 2008 with Crystal 2011 and also to create new ones, same results either way.
    Is this a known issue, or is there a switch/setting I need to change to make this work consistently?  I am especially puzzled by the fact that it seems random, I have not been able to find any pattern at all.

    Hi Victoria,
    MS SQL Server 2008 has a client install now, the MDAC/WDAC doesn't install it as MS used to do with all of their OS's. CR also had to update the use of SQL Server 2008 to include the SQLNCLI10 client engine.
    I suggest, if you have not already, install the Native 10 client from either the SQL Server CD or you can download the MSI from MS's site and only use the Native 10 driver.
    MS kind of dropped ODBC and moved to OLE DB. The native client actually uses the OLE DB driver so using ODBC just puts another layer on top of OLE DB anyways. It's more convenient to use ODBC for deploying applications but it can affect performance.
    Anyways, as noted, CR 2011 is still in Ramp up mode so this issue may have been tracked. If not though you can purchase a support case, if it's a bug then you'll get a refund, if it's a limitation in MS then no refund.
    There is [SP 1 for CR 2011|https://smpdl.sap-ag.de/~sapidp/012002523100007683092011E/cr2011sp1.exe] - http://service.sap.com/sap/bc/bsp/spn/bobj_download/main.htm
    Seems to be a problem with that page right now so try again later... and apply SP 1 or wait until it goes GA and test again. If it's still an issue then you can log a case.
    Firefox just got updated and it's failing, IE works though...
    Thanks again

  • How to use native XML driver in CR XI 2 (to avoid "Database Logon Failed")?

    Hello,
    I have a simple scenario:
    The Java Part:
    -Our Java application creates a pair of files: one XML and one XSD.
    -Both files are uploaded to an ASP.NET page along with a report (RPT file - based on the same XSD and some generated XML using the native XML driver) for rendering a PDF.
    The ASP.NET(VB) Part:
    -Reads and stores 3 files (XML, XSD and RPT) to temporary files.
    -Loads the report
    -Updates connection attributes ("Local Schema File" and "Local XML File") to point to those temporary files.
    -Exports the report to a PDF which is returned to the Java part.
    What are the correct steps to accomplish this? I keep on getting "Database logon failed." exceptions.
    My code looks like this:
    Dim doc As ReportDocument = New ReportDocument
    doc.Load(rptPath)
    Dim attr As DbConnectionAttributes
    attr = New DbConnectionAttributes()
    attr.Collection.Set("Local Schema File", xsdPath)
    attr.Collection.Set("Local XML File", xmlPath)
    Dim conn As IConnectionInfo
    conn = doc.DataSourceConnections.Item(0)
    conn.Attributes.Collection.LookupNameValuePair("QE_LogonProperties").Value = attr
    conn.Attributes.Collection.LookupNameValuePair("QE_ServerDescription").Value = xmlPath & " " & xsdPath
    conn.Attributes.Collection.LookupNameValuePair("QE_SQLDB").Value = False
    doc.ExportToHttpResponse(ExportFormatType.PortableDocFormat, Response, False, "")
    Thank you for any help,
    David
    (Crystal Reports XI Rel 2. SP4, .NET assembly 11.5.3700)

    Hi,
    When you get a database logon prompt like this it normally means the dataset you're creating at runtime does not match the schema that the report was designed with.
    The simplest thing to do is write out the dataset to XML with Schema after you fill the dataset. Once you've written out the dataset you can go back to the report in Crystal Reports itself and try to point the report to the XML file directly. If you get any errors this confirms that the dataset does not match what the report is expecting.
    Try it, address any differences, and you should be all set.
    Sincerely,
    Amit

  • I have an Extreme Gen 5 wirelessly extending a gen 4, Can I use my LAN on the extended extreme?

    I have an Extreme Gen 5 wirelessly extending an extreme gen 4. Can I use my LAN on the extended extreme that is wirelessly extending the other extreme?

    Are the LAN ports enabled to extened internet by default?
    Yes, in fact I do not believe that there is a way to turn them "off", even if you want to.
    However, sometimes users will get the extending device configured to "join a wireless network". The Ethernet port are not enabled in that configuration.
    Try connecting another computer or Ethernet device if you can to verify that things are working.

  • Kerberos - Multiple Domain logon using MS Acitve Directory (AS JAVA 7.0)

    I tried to find document/steps to configure the UME LDAP data source in AS JAVA 7.0 to support multi-domains in a domain forest. Our multiple domains have bi-directionaly trust.
    Based on note 994791, the video/demo only shows you how to configure this by creating one J2ee server user in each domain. Then, add data source in the UME xml file for each domain. However, in the note, it also mentioned that for a domain forest, you don't need to do this. You only need to use one j2ee server user. But it didn't provide demo / video / steps in terms of how to implement it - especially how to configure the UME in this scenario.
    (I have successfully configured the system to SSO to one single domain.)

    With help from Holger Bruchelt (who created blogs - Configuring and troubleshooting SPNego -- Part 1,2,3), our multiple domain logon under a global catalog is working. Use note 762419 for reference. Make sure the Java service user account you created can see users in other domain. Make sure the path you use in UME is at the top level that include all the domains. Make sure the port you use is the global port to have read-only right to all domains.

  • Can the WAN port be used as LAN when AirPort Express (2nd Generation) is setup to join a wireless network?

    Can the WAN port be used as LAN when AirPort Express (2nd Generation) is setup to join a wireless network? (IE: 2 LAN ports)
    I haven't been able to get a clear answer on this. I believe the 1st generation would act as WAN/LAN depending on setting, but what happens with the 2nd generation?
    Thank you for your time.

    If the Express joins a wireless network wirelessly, in other words its WAN port isn't connected to anything, the correct way to connect a wired client to it is by using its LAN port.
    I don't know what would happen if you were to connect a wired client to its WAN port instead — it's just not supposed to be used for that purpose. It won't permanently break anything if you were to try it though. If you were, the worst that would occur is that your network would become unresponsive as packets continuously traverse its WAN port in a circular fashion, which might require that you power down your router to reset your whole network.
    If you are already using your Express's LAN port and you need another, the way to provide more ports is to purchase an inexpensive ($10 or so) switch. Connect it to the LAN port and as many other pieces of equipment as the switch's available number of ports.
    You're correct about the first generation with the single Ethernet port. It could be used in either capacity depending on its configuration.

  • Is it possible to take a wireless signal into my time capsule, and use the LAN connections?

    Hello everyone,
    My wife has a clinic behind our house, that does not currently have a hard wired ethernet connection.  We are wondering if we can use our old 2nd generation time capsule to pick up the wirless signal from our home, and then use the LAN connections on the back to tie her credit card/debit machine into?  If we can't use the time capsule is there anything out there that would allow us to accomplish this?
    Thank you for your time

    We are wondering if we can use our old 2nd generation time capsule to pick up the wirless signal from our home, and then use the LAN connections on the back to tie her credit card/debit machine into?
    Yes....IF.....the wireless network in the house is provided by another Apple wireless router. In that case, the Time Capsule can be configured to "extend a wireless network". When it does this, the Ethernet ports on the Time Capsule are enabled as well.
    If the wireless network in the house is provided by a third party wireless router, there is a special feature only present on the AirPort Express that would allow it to be configured to "join" the wireless network. When it does this, the Ethernet ports are enabled on the Express.
    As you might imagine, the Ethernet signal is only going to be as good as the quality of the wireless signal connection between the house and the clinic. As a test, take a laptop out to the clinic and see if you can get a good Internet connection that way. If you can, then an AirPort should work well for you.

    Thanks for the info. You are correct. I was speaking in general terms here based on my experience with the two devices in day to day use, and not in terms of exact specifications.
    A better choice would have been to say that the "coverage" is about the same with the edge going to the Extreme....due to the newer mutliple antenna design.
    We sure could use more help on the forums. Hope that you will become a regular.
    Hi Bob
    RF is a minefield, but one that I have worked in for ages, the most critical factor in my experience is location, location, location!
    Better routers have more intelligently designed antenna systems, output power as I said is the same, radiation pattern (coverage) is dependent on antennas and physical location more than all other factors.

  • Wireless lan Controller 4402 / ping dynamic interface failed

    hi,
    i've a problem with a Wireless Lan Controller 4402.
    When i configure the dynamic interface on the my network , with wired lan
    i don't reach (i use the ping command) the ip address of the WLC.
    In my case (wired):
    On my pc i've a ip 10.1.78.1 255.255.0.0 and dgw 10.1.1.1 (vlan721)
    The lan WLC have a ip of management 10.12.2.4 /24 (vlan799) [dgw 10.12.2.1]
    dynamic vlan 792 ip add 10.12.78.100 / 22 (vlan792) [dgw 10.12.68.1]
    i ping these interfaces (10.12.2.4 and 10.12.78.100) and the ping is ok.
    When i create a dynamic interface vlan 721 starting the problem:
    dynamic vlan 791 ip address 10.1.1.240 / 16 (vlan721)
    After this ......the ping on 10.12.2.4 and 10.12.78.100 don't respond very well
    and i lose the 80-90% of the ping packages.
    through the wi-fi instead I do not have problems.
    the problem exist only via wired (cable).
    Can you help me?
    Thanks
    FCostalunga

    Hello,
    Pinging the dynamic interface is officially not supported. The reason why is because the controller places a very low priority on ICMP traffic. Typically, you will not have an issue with doing so on your wireless network because this interface is basically a gateway for the client. However, from the wired network - the only interface designed to respond to pings 100% of the time is the management interface. Hope this helps!

  • Boot from LAN using Wireless Adapter

    I have one Cisco Wireless PCI Adapter. Does it have a feature like PXE BootROM in NIC, so I can boot from LAN using wireless adapter?

    I'm pretty sure it doesn't. At issue would be the necessary setup for things like SSID.
    Maybe in the future; many motherboards & chipsets are including Wireless NICs, they would need to provide some setup in the BIOS to configure the basic communication parameters necessary to establish the Layer one / Layer two link.
    Good Luck
