Domain User cannot mount USB or shutdown

Hello,
after a few weeks when I installed Samba and joined a Domain I realized that when I put in an USB stick my file manager tells me that this operation is not allowed. So I have to mount the USB stick with sudo. Did I make something wrong in the PAM configuration? My domain user is in the local group of storage and power ...
It would be great if some one can give me some direction where to look for the problem.
Regards
Debellator

Thanks for your fast response.
When there is a kernel update I do a restart.
I do not use a login manager.
#!/bin/sh
# ~/.xinitrc

done
unset f

    Hi all ,
I need some help please :
I can read/write to my USB disks when i'm in muti-user mode but when to I swith to single-user mode ( init S ), I cannot mount it.
in Single-user mode , i started volume management daemon :
    #/etc/init.d/volgmt start
    #volcheck
but i'm still not able to mount it.
    I tried to mount manually:
    #mount /dev/dsk/c2t0d0p0 /testpoint , i have this error: < mount : not a UFS magic number ( 0x0) , dev/dsk/c2t0d0p0 is not of this fstype.
My system recognizes the USB device though in single-user mode:

    Hi ,
thanks for your advice. My problem is resolved.
The USB drive was actually a FAT filesystem.
so I did # mount -F pcfs /dev/dsk/c2t0d0p0:c /testpoint and everything went fine
I can read/write to my USB disks when i'm in

Looks like it's assuming UFS. If this is a pcfs
filesystem, give it the type on the mount line.
    # mount -F pcfs /dev/dsk/c2t0d0p0 /testpointYeah, this was the right command, I had to specify option < -F pcfs >.
but I read somethere on this forum i had to specify :c as the drive for FAT at the end of c2t0d0p0 , so the full command was:
    # mount -F pcfs /dev/dsk/c2t0d0p0:c /testpoint

  • [SOLVED] Cannot mount usb (as normal user)

    Hello
I'm facing this problem for the first time, but can't tell if it came after an update or an unexpected reboot (light went out).
I'm using latest kde (4.9.2?), and the latest kernel,
    Linux gantz 3.6.6-1-ARCH #1 SMP PREEMPT Mon Nov 5 11:57:22 CET 2012 x86_64 GNU/Linux
When I plug any usb device, kde ask me what to do. When trying to mount it, either from the kde "mount" plasmoid or from dolphin, I get a "Not authorized" error. Mounting via cli with sudo works fine.
After doing some research, I found that I need to be in the storage group in order to be able to mount, so I checked, and I was already on the storage group. Next.
More research sent me to lots of pages talking abour .xinitrc, wich doesn't exists (on my home, at least). Also tons of pages where talking about somethin like "exec ck-launch-session dbus-launch session-manager" (I login via kdm), but the ck-launch-session is not found on my computer either.
So i'm stucked right now, and don't know how to proceed, any clues? Thanks

pd @Raynman: removing myself from the storage group did not change anything.
that's not a fix, it's a crappy workaround. You are not supposed to touch these files, they will be overwritten on an upgrade. My guess is that you are simply not using systemd and therefore you are not in an active logind session. You have to boot with systemd, as mentioned in the news. Everything should then just work out of the box.

  • [SOLVED][XFCE] Cannot mount usb disks & manage network connections

    Hi guys,
    I'm using XFCE with 3.3.1-1 kernel. Since yesterday I'm not able anymore to automatically mount usb disks,  manage my WiFi networks (networkmanage connects to the default access point but I can't select another AP nor editing my settings). I'm also prompted to type my password when I clik on the shutdown icon;
So it seems I lost some privileges but I can't figured out why...
I still belong to the same grousp as before:

  • Domain Users cannot RDP but Admin group users can

Hi guys, need your urgent help. I have worked day and night on this issue. Basically the domain users if rdp to the server, it will get disconnected right away after place in domain account with password. However if logged on using console, I am getting
    the below error message:
You cannot log on because the logon method you are using is not allowed on this computer. Please see your network administrator for more information.
I have checked few items to remediate the issues:
    1. Done checked - Allow Log on through Remote Desktop Services RDP users group are in.
    2. Domain users are added to local RDP users group.
    3. KB 2667402 installed.
    4. Restarted the RDP service.
Please take note this server have RDS installed as well as Citrix client version 7.

  • 2012 R2 RD Session Host Domain Users Cannot Change Password

I set up a Windows 2012 R2 Session Host as per
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2833839 and joined it to the domain.  Now, users are unable to change their password. When they log in to the RDSH and "ctrl-del-end", they are given the change password dialog, but they are told that
their password "doesn't meet complexity requirements" even if it does.  I suspect the issue is related to the fact that there is no "session collection" per se and that the "connection broker" role is not installed.
Is there any way around this?  The end game would be to have them log into this RDSH and be able to change their password to conform with the domain password policy
    PaulK

    Hi Paulk,
Did you mean that all users cannot change passwords? Based on my experience, this issue was not related ro the RD connection broker role.
Please check the password policy in group policy of the domain to see if any password policy caused this issue:
    Computer Configuration\Windows Settings\Security Settings\Account Policies\Password Policy

  • Domain users cannot connect to the network folders when logged in via rds remote apps

    Hi,
recently I setup an RDS farm for remote apps on server 2012 r2.
all users can connect to the apps published. no problems there.
but when users connect via rds they cannot connect to the networkfolders and cannot store the resultance of there work (docx and xlsx files)
all users are normally connected to the networkfolders using a small login batch file handing down the unc path needed. when I log in as domain admin, also using a login batch, connections are setup correctly. It seems to me to be an security issue on the
    rds session host.
    how to alter this?
    greetz, Fons

    Hi,
Thank you for posting in Windows Server Forum.
We use WMI to communicate with the RDSH server. Various issues can cause WMI to deny access or return error codes. Here's a few things you can try:
    1.  Check if the "TS Web Access Computers" security group on the RDSH server has incorrect permissions in DCOM and/or WMI:
       For checking DCOM security settings:
       1. Start the Component Services MMC snapin
       2. Navigate to Component Services -> Computers -> My Computer
       3. Right-click on My Computer and select properties
       4. Go to the COM Security tab
       5. Under Access Permissions, click the Edit Limits button
       6. Ensure that TS Web Access Computers is in the list, with all of the permissions set to “allow”.
       7. Under Launch and Activation Permissions, click the Edit Limits button
       8. Ensure that TS Web Access Computers is in the list, with all of the permissions set to “allow”.
       For checking WMI security settings:
       1. Start the WMI Control MMC snapin
       2. Right-click the WMI Control node and select properties
       3. Go to the Security tab
       4. Navigate to Root->CIMV2->TerminalServices
       5. With TerminalServices selected, click the Security button
       6. Ensure that TS Web Access Computers is in the list with Execute Methods, Enable Account, and Remote Enable set to "allow"
    2.  Verify the RD Session Host server's firewall allows WMI calls.
    3. Verify that the RD Connection Broker hasn't lost its trust relationship with the domain.
    4. See if non-RDS related WMI calls can be successfully made to the RDSH server. This can help differentiate between a general WMI issue and an issue calling the RDS WMI provider.

  • Cannot mount USB Hard Drive (750GB LaCie Desktop Hard Disk USB2 K)

I recently purchased a 750GB LaCie Desktop Hard Disk USB2 K, and used it to back-up my NAS (Ready NAS NV+). Now I want to transfer some of this data on the Lacie at a separate location to a Time Capsule, via my MacBook. When I insert the USB cable into TC it seems to recognize the disk, but I cannot see the contents (I have a separate post on this).
WHen I insert the USB cable into my MacBook, I get the message:
"The Disk you inserted was not readable by this computer."
I (THOUGHT) I had formatted the disc as ext3, but do not recall (and cannot access my notes remotely). Is there anyway I can use disk utility to check the formatting, or does the message above give the game away?
    Any thoughts appreciated!

I did not think that EXT3 support was built into OS X. There are various utilities around but I do not know how well they work and they would only be useful for the Macbook.

& I tried making ZFS file system on pendrive,
    zpool create myusb c2t0d0p0
    zpool list myusb
Now I can see the file system, however windows doesnt recosgnise it now :( screwd again !!!Right, Windows has no idea what ZFS is so there is no way that it can mount the drive.
In order for it to work on both Windows and Solaris then you need to format the device with a filesystem in common.
The most common way to do this is to format it with a FAT32 filesystem or you could use NTFS if you load up the drivers for it on the Solaris side.
After you format it FAT32 then Windows should have no problems with it since it's a native format and Solaris vold mounts my FAT32 USB devices automatically.

Windows 7 domain standard users not able to sync Outlook Calendar to iphone.  The Calendar select option in itunes is grey out.  However if log on with administrator previledge, this user don't have this problem.

ITUNES WILL SYNC YOUR EMAIL SETTINGS DURING THE SET UP PROCESS BUT DOESN'T SYNC THE MAILBOXES.
IF YOU HAVE A MOBILEME/GOOGLEMIL/YAHOO MAIL .IMAP TYPE MAIL ACCOUNT, OR SOME OF THE MS EXCHANGED BASED MAIL SERVERS, YOU CAN HAVE THESE PUSH YOUR EMAIL TO THE IPHONE SO THEY +ARE IN SYNC+ ACROSS APPLIANCES.
A TYPICAL POP3 ACCOUNT AS STILL OFFERED BY MANY INTERNET SERVICE PROVIDERS IN THE UK SUCH AS ORANGE/BT/SKY ETC.......... EXPECTS TO HAVE JUST ONE EMAIL CLIENT SIGNED IN AT ANY ONE TIME SO ARE VERY DIFFICULT TO ACTUALLY SYNC OVER AIR.
AN ADDED DIFFICULTY SINCE YOUR ARE NOT ABLE TO ACCESS THE IPHONE FILE SYSTEM YOU CAN'T DRAG THE MAILBOX OR MS OUTLOOK .PPT FILES ONTO THE PHONE EITHER.

  • Domain User Cannot Access "My Documents" Subfolder

Hello, I have a users who uses a Windows 7 PC and a Windows 8 Laptop. The user is joined to a Domain and can access the "My Documents" folder and sub folders without an issue on the Windows 7 PC. When the user logs in with the same credentials
on the Windows 8 Laptop the user can go into the "My documents" folder but 2/10 of the subfolders the user gets a message "You do not have permission to access \\XXXXX\share\user\My Documents\subfolder" of course I changed a few of the
names for security reasons. I checked the parent directory "My Documents" security permissions and the user has Ownership of the folder as well as "Full Control." The Folder permissions are also applied to all subfolders and files. The
setting in group policy to create the "My Documents" folder is \\Domain\share\%USERNAME% so that shouldn't be an issue.
Any help to resolve this would be greatly appreciated.

  • Active Sync does not start as domain user with no Administrator rights.

    Hi all,
Searched the forums and the net but can't find anything about this.
    Situation:
In a domain where users only have standard users rights I installed on a PC as a domain admin Active Sync 4.5
When I logon as a user the Active Sync software can not be started.
I disabled the firewall and even set full rights permission on the Active Sync directory both didn't help out.
When I m logged on as this user I can choose to Start the program as a different user.
This only works when I Start it with the domain administrator account.
I hope that I do not have to give that information to this user to make this software work.....
Anyone had the same problems? Anyone a idea?
    Thx in advance.
    Kind regards,
    Aartjan

    try this:
    1. make sure you install "activesync" from local harddisk (not from network), and do not delete the setup file after
    installation
    2. local in as "local administrator" and connect your PDA and make sure it can sync, I did not create a profile and just leave PDA connect as "guest" for now
    3. log off and re-login as "domain user", connect with USB should work
    4. if they still cannot communicate, run "ActiveSync" from start menu
    it works for me

All PCs can ping the DC, and get name resolution.  Checked IPs, DNS on both WS and DC (DC points to its own IP address with no other DNS), Forwarders for DNS appear to be working,
as normal DNS name resolution and internet access works on all PCs.  Have tried disabling NIC card and installing another NIC.  All searches keep pointing back at the same things that I have tried.  I feel like I am missing something stupid.
     Please help

The backup you used is too old. That is why your clients are experiencing trust relationship failures: the computer passwords are no longer matching so they are failing to connect to AD. You need to disjoin and join them again.
I understand that this is the only DC you have so please make sure that the DC is not multihomed, that it points to its private IP address as primary DNS server and 127.0.0.1 as secondary one. Also, you might need to rebuild your SYSVOL folder if you keep
    getting the SYSVOL errors: https://support.microsoft.com/kb/315457?wa=wsignin1.0

  • Mount usb: cannot find device

I have a compiled arch kernel. As there are some files in the /root, the user has enabled usb mounting.
as dmesg shows it identifies two usbs. one is plugged to keyboard.
I tried these commands, but they mounted folder is not my usb:
    mount -t auto /dev/sdb2 /mnt/media
    mount -t auto /dev/sda2 /mnt/media
in /dev I cannot see anything except
    sda
    sda1
    sda2
    sdb
    sdb1
    sdb2
what should I do to get my usb mounted?
update: I am trying to mount the device on sdb1 and sdaxx, but it only mounts /root filesystem into /mnt/media. I also changed the format type of usb to ext4 as this is the only filesystem module loaded into the kernel.

How did you compile your kernel? Were you using modprobed_db and following the recommendations?
