Don't format a Muvo in Vi

I have a Muvo TX FM and made the mistake of formatting it in Vista. I could see the files in Windows, but not in the memory. Then, I installed the latest driver for XP and tried the utility to update firmware, without any luck. Run the same utility in XP and problem solved! So, don't format the memory in vista!
I think the parameters to formatting the memory differ for the default in Vista, or something like that.

    miche978,
Did you setup the player to be in recovery mode?
. Connect your player to your computer while pressing and holding the Play button. Keep the Play button depressed for 5 seconds after the player is connected to your computer.
    2. After releasing the Play button, a dialog box may appear, prompting you to install a Player Recovery Device driver. Follow the onscreen instructions to complete the device driver installation.
    3. Once the Player Recovery Device driver installation is complete, double-click the firmware upgrade .EXE file.
When the NOMAD MuVo NX Firmware Download dialog box appears, click the Start button.
Follow the onscreen instructions to complete the upgrade.

  • Formatting nomad muvo 128mb(red) on mac osx 10.

I'm a bit of a computer dummy. Normally I would have given up by now, but I am completely attached to my nomad. Unfortunately the amount of space I can use is continually dwindling. I am assuming reformatting the player would fix the problem, but I can't figure out a way to do this all by myself. I found the wentnet program, but have had problems getting it to work also, and since I just am concerned with formatting I was hoping there was an easier solution. Even with my little bit of computer know-how, I figured formatting in a mac format was probably a bad idea. Thanks to anyone who can offer some suggestions and support.
    Thanks again,
    Kathryn

This is a screenshot with my square red made in sRGB, with sRGB as working color space, in save for web window without color management.
This orange is what I see in PS.
This is what I see with monitor color preview (what I would see with monitor compensation in PS window).
Anyone got any idea of what's the problem?
    Thank you

  • MuVo 128 Format

I have the original MuVo 28 and it has been fine for the last few years but recently seems to have developed a fault. I can format it but if I copy files onto it and try to read them it says the device is not formated. The fault is intermitent sometimes the device works fine (with small files). I assume the device is dead but would like confirmation before I consign it to the bin.

Should have looked before I posted. Didn't realise you could update the firmware on this device. Have now done so and the MuVo appears to be working fine again.

  • Formated Muvo NX before firmware update, help plea

For some time ago, I formated my MuVo NX 28mb player by mistake. This caused the player the firmware to go "blank", the player would not start at all. I tried to download the firmware update, but it couldn't see the difference between my mp3 player, and a normal memory stick. Anyone have any ideas that can solve this problem?
Oh, and I apologize for bad english, as it is not my nati've language.

Is there a Recovery Mode for your player? See the sticky post at the top of the page.

  • Muvo Nx Formatted by accid

I formatted my muvo nx by accident and now I can't play any music... My pc sees the muvo nx without a problem and I am even able to transfer files.. But when I place it in its carrier I see a picture of an IC (chip) and a triangle with a ! in the middle... I have read that to recover is to initialize the muvo... But I can't find the utility. I am currently on the road and my cd is at home... can anyone send me the utility?

Download the latest driver and firmware available at the page. Install the driver first and then proceed to use the firmware application but before that, read the details mention at the download site for the firmware on how to run the firmware update.

  • Songs and folders not listed in playlist MUVO TX

    Hi everybody,
After trawling through 5 pages of posts, with no end in sight, and still not having found a post that would answer my question, I post it here and my apologies if this question has been asked and answered before.
I have a Muvo Tx Fm with 52MB, latest firmware .3.03
I have loaded 577 songs in 2 folders onto it (very close to 500MB), but when I switch it on and try to skip through the folders to the one I want to play, I find that only 5 folders are visible and some folders do not show every track that is in them.
I encountered this problem before and thought it might be related to the firmware, so I upgraded it to the version shown above. Everything was fine for a while, but now it has come back.
I copied all the files/folders from my Muvo onto my computer, then formatted the Muvo and put the original files/folders back on. Still the problem persists.
When I first noticed the problem, I discovered that the "missing" tracks would re-appear if I deleted some of the tracks that I could see in the playlist.
With my computer I verified that the tracks are indeed all there, and they are all tracks that can be played by the Muvo (WMA and MP3 formats without DRM).
Is there a limit to the number of folders the Muvo can handle? Previously I have known it to handle 3 folders in the root, now it shows only 5 of the 2 in the root.
Is there a limit to the number of files the Muvo can handle? This seems odd because I would expect that a player with 52MB would be able to handle as many files as you could reasonably expect to get on a 52Mb player.
What can I do to solve this problem? It seems pointless to load my player up with 500Mb worth of tracks, if I can play only a portion of them.

Thanks for that, Rhythman. I had a look at the tracks on my Muvo and unfortunately, most of the tracks have only the Title field of the ID3 tag filled in, not the other fields like author, album, etc. Some don't have any ID3 tag information at all, and only a handful of tracks have title, author, AND album info in the tag.
None of them use non-english or other weird characters, and none of them have licence restrictions.
I just deleted the content of one folder (some 48 tracks) and, after switching the Muvo off and on again, gained access to 3 more folders that were there all along of course.
This gives me a sneaky suspicion that the Muvo has a limit of around 52 entries in its playlist, something I would still like confirmation of from one of the forum's moderators, if possible. If this 52 entry limit is the cause, it would have been better if the folks at Creative had made mention of this in the user documentation, just to save us some confused head-scratching!
And if that is the case, how about a firmware upgrade that modifies the way a playlist is formed. Surely it is not necessary to load ALL track names at the same time? Load the names of all folders, and the names of all tracks IN THE CURRENT FOLDER ONLY. Then, when the last track in the current folder is played, scan in all the track names of the next folder. Simple, really. How about it, folks at Creative Labs?
Of course, my analysis could be wrong. I'd still like to hear if anyone else has encountered this problem and found a solution for it.

  • MuVo TX FM memory prob

HELP! I just bought a Muvo 52mb TX FM. I converted my mp3's to WMA format to reduce the size so it can play more songs. When I tried to load 480mb worth of WMA music I was only able to move 228mb worth. Properties show I still have 267mb of free space but I get an error when adding even more file. Since then I loaded the lastest firmware and still no luck. Any suggestions?

Hi, Did you just transfer them straight in as files, not in folders or anything? - if it works in the same way as my Muvo N200, (from the product specs I think it does) there's a limit to how many files you put in the root directory like that. You have to put them in folders first and then transfer the folders onto the player as if they were files. This can either be done just by copy and paste of folders into your 'muvo tx fm media explorer' directory in 'my computer' (just like the media explorer window was for a floppy disc), or folders can be created in media source. There's a step by step explanation of how to do this (with pictures) here.
Folders are really useful for organization too, as you call name them things like 'rock' or 'classical' etc. and then sort your tracks, or give them album names!
Of course if you've already done this, or your muvo works differently to mine, this will be no use to you, but just in case...

  • New muvo, but old probl

    Hello everyone!
Time ago, my MuVo (classic) was suddently dead so I bought a muvo tx fm 256mb. Now, I can't use it because my windows can't install muvo drivers correctly. I've got 2 pc with windows XP and both of them give me the same problem!!!!!
After some clicks on "my computer" It crash until I don't unplug the muvo. I can't write, read or do anything else with the muvo. Pratically it's unusable. It's nice because I had the same problems with my old Muvo!!!!!
I tryed everything's possible. I also formatted my pc, but the problem's the same

There was no need to download any drivers for Windows XP, it should ust be able to recognize the MUVO as a removable dri've, just like a memory stick. You can use "my computer" to install music files but you will probably have better luck with Windows Media Player or the Creative software.
Try to rollback your computer to before you installed the drivers or uninstall the drivers.
There is some useful information at: http://www.stainlesssteelrat.net/nomadprimer.htm

  • Firmware upgrading and formatting prob

i've got a problem for formatting my MUVO S200 bye FAT32.
it formats FAT6 greatly, but cannot be formatted by FAT32.
however, when i want to upgrade my firmware, i get a error saying: Unable to write firmware file data!!!
    What can i do?

You can format use FAT or FAT6 don't use FAT32 because you can't play your Mp3 with FAT32 .
I very like Creative MUVO TX FM . Thanks Creative company for new support Muvo TX FM .

  • MuVo Vidz

An error msg pops up everytime I attempt to convert a wmv or avi file to mv4 format. The clips run on my PC and on the transcoder however do not convert.
The error message is "Transcoding failed. Can not find the required codecs."
Any ideas? Has anyone found this to be a problem?
I have contacted customer service and they have no idea. They blamed the third party software producer.
    This product stinks.
The vidz part is useless, if your looking for a video player don't get the MuVo Vidz. It's fine for mp3 and voice recording but that's it.

    Hi,
If youare getting a codec error then it would mean that the file you have is in a format that the software cannot recognise. You should try re-installing Windows Media Player 0 as this comes with audio and video codecs. ALso try reloading the creative software from the CD ifproblems persist. You shyould also try a different source file - for example something simple like c:\windows\clock.avi.
    Hope this helps,
    John

  • Creative MP3 muvo wont w

    Hello there,
I purchaced a 28 mb muvo (refurbished) a few months back. it was functioning perfectly until a few days ago when, after ejecting it from the back of my compuer, it stopped working. Now, anytime I try to open the "removable dri've" or put files on i get a message saying it isn't formatted and windows asks if i would like to format the muvo. It appears to format when i try the software that came with it, howvever, this still doesn't help. And Windows is unable to format it when prompted. Strangely, when i go to properties, it says the muvo has 0 out of 0 space, i.e. the pie-chart is all in blue. Before it was around 20 mb out of 22mb.
i've tried installinig updated drivers, but this still doesnt help. actually, i'm not sure that this is of any use as the mp3 player isnt fully being read. i assume that means the driver, if it was wipped off, can't be re-installed.
    Thanks in advance

    I'll do SSR's job for once :
If you are having trouble with your MuVo, putting it into Recovery Mode (see the FAQ topic at the top of this forum if you don't know what this means) and reloading with the latest Firmware (http://www.nomadworld.com) making sure when you are doing this process to check the "Format Data Area" option.Message Edited by insanedeano on 0-04-2005 :24 PM
