Don't want to format HDD to get out of NTFS mode.
I recently moved to mac from windows. I just want to know if there is a way that i don't have to format my HDD to get it out of NTFS mode?
I suggest that you consider formatting it FAT or ExFAT which allows you to use it for both PC and Mac. Otherwise the MBP will not be able to write to it. If you do reformat, understand the HDD will have the user data erased.

You can use these steps to open your Pages documents with the previous version:
Permanently change the document’s app
Select the document and choose File > Get Info.
In the Info window, click the triangle next to “Open with” to expand the section.
Choose an app from the pop-up menu, or choose Other to locate a different app.
If you want to use that app to open all documents of the same type as the current document and created by the same app, click Change All.
Temporarily change the document’s app
You can open a document in a different app without changing the app that normally opens it. Use either of these methods:
Control-click the document, choose Open With, and then choose the app you want to use.
Drag the document to the app’s icon in the Dock or in the Finder.

Maybe the wrong port or the wrong kind of memory card? You didn't say what version/year of Macbook Pro you have. Below is a photo of the newest one.

You need to figure out what you have installed which changed that action to Yahoo from a blank tab, which is the default action in Firefox; and then get rid of that add-on. Then you can can install an add-on which allows you to select what you want in the new tab.

Adobe asked me to update and when I tried to download it I got to a screen that asked me to buy a photo program for $9.99 that I didn't want. I could only get out of it by going backwards and repeating the whole thing. So I couldn't down;ad what Adobe wanted me to do.
There was a reply. But if you didn't get that, you won't get this one I suppose. Come back to the forum, don't rely on email.

Pages opens strictly word processing AppleWorks v6 files.
The problem with ClarisWorks files were they could contain all sorts of objects from databases to spreadsheets, drawings and paint. the iWork suite is not that versatile.
But you really have little choice as ClarisWorks and AppleWorks are both history. If you are going to switch, the sooner the better.
Just keep in mind what Apple did to ClarisWorks/AppleWorks along with many other of their appliactions and technologies theywill ultimately do to Pages.

I was updating my iPhone 3g from iOS 4.1 to 4.2.1 when suddenly I lost network connection and the process failed. I have since tried to restore my iPhone 3g with no luck. I keep getting the error code 2009. Which instructs me to check my computer is up to date and all third party security software are turned off. I have done all these pulled out all usb devices but for the one that is my internet modem. I am running Windows XP Pro SP2 on HP DC500 minitower. How do I get out of restore mode. Thank you kindly.
Not sure if you were told what error 2009 is caused by so I'll let you know if you havn;t been informed. In the article http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3694 is says:
Error 2000-2009 (2001, 2002, 2005, 2006, 2009, and so on)
If you experience this issue on a Mac, disconnect third-party devices, hubs, spare cables, displays, reset the SMC, and then try to restore. If you are using a Windows computer, remove all USB devices and spare cables other than your keyboard, mouse, and the device, restart the computer, and try to restore. If that does not resolve the issue, try the USB issue-resolution steps and articles listed for Error 1604 above. If the issue persists, it may be related to conflicting security software. If the errors persist on another computer and known-good USB cable, the device may need service. -
i wanted to do trouble shooting, i put computer in safe mode & now i can not get out of safe mode. I've closed FF & re-started computer 3 times, even shut down computer, still in safe mode. What do i need to do to get out of safe mode?

EDIT: Just noticed that you already rebooted. You say that you "put computer in safe mode". Is firefox in safe mode or your whole computer?

* Check that the shift keys on your keyboard are not stuck down.
* Uninstall firefox and install again (your settings will not be lost as they are stored in your profile folder).

I have updated to iTunes 10 and now my unchecked songs are playing... I don't want this and can't figure out how to have it like it was before (not playing unchecked songs). Please help! I leave the unchecked songs in there b/c there will come a point in time where I want to listen to these songs but right now I don't.
yes, 10.3.1, iTunes already restarted, menu settings already like that and still it will play all unchecked songs (including the checked songs of course). Why even have check and unchecked if the program is going to play all of them anyway?!

I CANNOT GET OUT OF RECOVERY MODE.
Could someone, anyone, give me a fricking straight on how to get the **bleep** out of RECOVERY MODE. I didn't spend $70 dollars on this piece of crap for it to not work.

And do not, and i repeat DO NOT REFER ME TO THE FRICKING RECOVERY MODE HELP THING, BECAUSE IT DOES NOT HELP. SO DON'T BOTHER TYPING THAT IN.I have a Zen Micro Photo and have been frustrated for many weeks. Sometimes a certain sequence is the key to success. I tried everything to no avail. I could not even get the Zen to charge with my Computer or wall outlet. I was stuck in Recovery Mode Hell. Of course, my battery drained and you must have a charge to upgrade the Firmware or do anything else. I even ordered a new battery on eBay. In the meantime, I purchased a **competitor** MP3 player which is the absolute best I have ever seen. Anyway, I read the Post here suggesting you try a certain sequence---which I then tried---and it worked for me. Somehow, I was able to get a charge from my PC last night. Without being hooked up to the PC I did the sequence (it would get locked up in Recovery Mode as soon as I hooked up to the PC anyway). My PC would simply refuse to recognize the Zen Micro Photo no matter what I did. As suggested, from Recovery Mode I clicked on "reformat", and when it was done I clicked on "reboot"--which it did. I then plugged in the USB cable and to my extreme surprise my PC recognized the player! I had downloaded the correct firmware file so I clicked on it. It opened and asked me if I really wanted to install this Firmware update as my player already had this Firmware installed. Really? I did a Format and I thought I erased the Firmware. I told setup to upgrade the Firmware anyway--which it did. Suddenly, my player started "reloading" its Library! I now have a working Zen Micro Photo (and a new **competitor**). I transferred a few MP3's to the Zen and they play just fine. I am serious when I say I tried everything-----over and over again. The player just remained locked in Recovery mode. It was this certain sequence that worked for me and possibly may work for you. This was my last attempt before the trash bin. Prices have fallen drastically for MP3 players and quality has improved (**competitor**), but I am happy that I now have two working MP3 players. One of them is going on eBay---any guess which one?

So I tried to update my iPhone 3GS to iOS 5.1.1, like iTunes told me to do, and it froze part way through the installation for a couple of hours. I tried to "reset" the iPhone by pressing both the home and power buttons simultaneously, but now iTunes tells me my iPhone is in recovery mode. From my limited knowledge, it seems I need to restore my iPhone, but I don't want to lose anything, like my SMS history.
Is there a way to get out of recovery mode without having to restore?

Unfortunately, the above post is simply wrong! A system cannot destroy information in a blink of an eye. If it were that easy, the forensic teams across the world would have a hard time. A criminal could simply force a phone into recovery to remove all the data. Please!
I managed not only to take the phone out of recovery mode but also, salvaged all the data held on it.
To be fair, I am a little annoyed at Apple for not offering a salvage option on the device for such a situation. And it may be that they will not like me sharing this information, in which case I believe this view to be morally wrong because photos are so important. We all make mistakes, in terms of forgetting to backup from time to time.
What I used was the Redsn0w software, running as an administrator in XP compatibility mode. In the ‘Extras’ section it as a Recovery Fix option. It simply runs some software that takes the device out of recovery mode. I had to run it twice for some reason but the second time (out of desperation) worked a treat. The phone is now exactly as it was before it went into recovery mode. More to the point, it allowed me to backup all the photos and videos that I had failed to do before hand. And let’s face it, photos and videos are usually the most valuable stuff we keep on our phones.
I hope this help anyone in the same situation. I really hope someone from apple reads it and is able to convince the bosses that a recovery option is very important. And to take note that YES it is possible to recover data on a phone stuck in recovery mode. And more than likely it would be easier for apple, compared to other non-apple professionals.

I started up in safe mode and was able to trouble shoot a peripheral problem. However, I still have a HD icon on my desktop. How do I get out of Safe mode? I did restart a couple of times but the icon continues to appear.

SIf you have rebooted, then you are no longer in safe mode. The HD icon is not an indicator of being in safe mode. If you don't want to see hard drive icons on the Desktop, you can set that preference in Finder -> Finder menu -> Preferences -> General.

I dropped my iPod, now it won't get out of recovery mode!
I dropped my iPod, now it won't get out of recovery mode! If i don't connect it to the mac, it has the msg in 4 languages saying "connect to your computer. Use iTunes to restore". When i connect it to mac, and itunes is open, it says ipod needs to be restored, so i press the restore button, the progress bar starts moving but never finishes, like it's frozen.
Can anyone helpguess there's no one that can help.
