Dotnet + ABAP...next

Hi,
I am working on ASP.NET and C# and learnt ABAP recently. To market myself in SAP, could anyone suggest which advanced technology in SAP helps? If I learn Netweaver will it helps me to increase my market value? In Netweaver which one is feasible for my dotnet knowledge?
Right suggestions will be rewarded.

First....Learn ABAP...Then you can download the .NET connector and make some fancy applications -:)

  • Reg time updation in helpdesk application from portal into r/3 table.

    hi all
i had a scenario regarding help desk tickets which are raised from portal.
Before going for my question i would like to explain my scenario.
this is related to tickets raised by employees from portal, actually this is business logic is designed in ABAP and presentation logic in web dynpro java.the thing is the inputs which is entered by (MEANS TICKETS fields)employee its getting updated properly some times and some time its not updating the time fields it is just give 00:00:00,some with name field also.this data is updated into one table in abap.
next when the manager approves the leave for certain date at that time it is not taking the updated time from the manager.
this time fields are taking time automatically from system itself.
if i want to check this code in WD java which is developed locally we are not having application .that zip file is not available.the application is running depending on the .ear file which is already deployed on j2ee server.
Now if i want to make this application run properly, with getting updated all  fields properly.as the application is not available i unable to proceed what to do,could any  one please share there ideas on this scenario
please provide me solution for this.

    Hi,
This error might be of two reasons...
    1. There might be a validation/ logic problem in the front end (web dynpro java)...
    2. There might be a logic problem in the back end program.
As you cannot check the front end program, do one thing. try executing the scenario in the development box and ask your abaper to debug the execution. So that if there is any logic problem you can find that out...
If you are sure that there are no problems from the back end side, only option left out is Creating front end program again....
If you are going to re code your WDJava application, at least this time make sure that you create DC (but not local applications) and back up your application...

  • Web Services connection to MS Exchange Server 2007

    Hi everyone,
I try to use the web services of MS Exchange Server 2007 within ABAP. I found the he WSDL file under https://<dns name of exchange server>/EWS/Services.wsdl.
I already tried to create the proxy object under SE80 -> create web service -> consume service, but it ends with an error. I also downloaded the WSDL file and tried to use local instead of the URL to the WSDL file, but I also get several errors.
Have anyone did that before? If there is somebody out there, I would appreciate if we can share our knowledge.
    Thanks in advance,
    Marcel

    Hi together,
first of all thank you very much for your replies, the document is very interessting for the integration of OWA into portal. I will try that later.
I also thought that this should be like consuming a web service and I tried to create that proxy class that Thomas Jung has described in his weblogs and in detail in his ABAP - Next Generation book.
When I try to create the Proxy object I get the error message:
HTTP error (return code 0, message "")
If I try to create the proxy object via local file (I have downloaded the wsdl xml file from the exchange)
then I get several errors, mixed in english and german (I am logged on with english language):
    Proxy-Generierung: Fehler aufgetreten
    Exception occurred in library handler
Exception occurred in communication framework:Error in File Upload:

Thanks in advance for your help!

  • Find/Find Next Behavior in ALV in container in ABAP OO

I have an ALV grid in a custom container that's sized for a screen on a high-resolution tube.  In other words, there's a scrollbar on the ALV but none on the screen itself (because the whole screen is visible at the high resolution.)
At this high resolution, a find or find next will correctly scroll the ALV to the row in which an item is found (when the "found" row is below the currently visible row of the ALV.)
But when I switch to a lower resolution where I have a scroll bar on the ALV and on the window itself, a find or find next does not scroll the ALV properly.  You have to manually scroll to find the found row.
Yes - I have both resizings checked on the container.
Is there a way I can:
    1) find the resolution the user is in?
    2) modify the screen size to fit this resolution?
    3) modify the container size to fit this resolution?
    Thanks
    djh

    Calgar -
This is the same thing that Thomas (Jung) suggested in an old ABAP General thread.
But I've done it, and it doesn't work.
Also, I don't understand why I'm getting a scroll bar for the ALV as well as for the screen.
I thought if I did what you and Thomas said, I would only see the scroll bar for the screen and not the ALV.
    Any other ideas ????
    Thanks

  • What is the next step after ABAP ? Need resources for SAP structure

    Hello,
I have learned ABAP and now it is time to use it to write SAP programs. But what is the next step?
From where can I get information about SAP tables to proceed?
I have 2 ABAP books but they only provide the syntax for ABAP. After learning that, I am finding trouble in knowing on which objects/tables to apply it on.
For example, I want to know that when I use the CV01n to create a file, what happens in terms of internal SAP tables?
If I select multiple files in the search result "CV04N" which table should I access to get these selected files?
Basically does anyone know where I can find such resources in order to understand how to proceed in developing SAP application ?
    Regards.

    Hi HASSAN,
For Learning the Business part of  ABAP, (That is what is missing for you i.e the tables and their relations), i would suggest you to take one module at a time.
Like MM(Material management) or SD(Sales and distribution) etc.
Refer this link to know the business part of the SAP:
    MM:

  • ABAPer's next Career step

I am working as an ABAPer mostly in SAP AFS,I would like to know what is the career growth I can Expect as a ABAPer in next 6 month, and what should be my next step?
I am confuse whether to  remain on technical side only or move to functional side?or I should go with BW or SAP NW , BI ...?
At the same time I don't want leave my knowledge of ABAP ie I want to move such field where my knowledge will be useful for me.
There are too many modules in SAP Functional also , if I moves to Functional side then which is best modules to work with in future ?
What you think is best suited for me ?
    Suggest me right way .
Thank you for your valuable time given to me .
    Thanks & regards
    Rajwant

    Hi Rajwant,
These days the growing trend for developers is to have knowledge of JAVA. These days many SAP products are being JAVA enabled and for that having knowledge of JAVA is will be very useful. Also WebDynpro is catching market at full speed so you can update yourself on this part as well.
Regarding other functional modules, it all depends on your area of interest. It would not be fair enough to suggest on the basis of this question that which module will suit you best. Have a look on the different SAP modules, read its basic descritpion and check which one will suit you most as per your technical competency.
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SAP_R/3
However these days CRM is catching up the market and you can have a good look on it depth before deciding your next step.

  • ABAP Future in next coming years

    Hi,
I have 4 year experience in SAP ABAP/4. There are so many comments that ABAP have been obsolete in next few year's. This is true about it.
Then what will be the SAP ABAPer future.
If we can switch any other module, which one is best for ABAPer.
Note: - I have good knowledge of Functional also - SD / MM/ FICO / alongwith ABAP.
    Plz help...
    Edited by: @ABAP@ on Feb 16, 2010 7:28 PM

I have read many questions on ABAP is dead or what?
They point to ominous signs: they tells that all the new SAP programs are written in Java (not true), and they are concerned that the NetWeaver CE is an exclusively Java-based environment (true). The NetWeaver Developer Studio is also almost exclusively Java-based (also true).
But ABAP is not as dead as some might think, there are still more than 238,000,000 lines of ABAP code in SAP. ABAP is still entrenched in SAP, and SAP is still entrenched in ABAP.
ABAP is still making its presence felt: some of the new NetWeaver PI functionality was written in ABAP. You might not see it when you work with PI, but the ABAP is there underneath, keeping things humming along.
Thomas Jung of SAP Labs, who writes an outstanding developeru2019s blog on SDN, telling - some of the underlying NetWeaver functions were written in ABAP, and of course there is the Web Dynpro for ABAP. Jung also told that the ABAP Workbench is indeed part of NetWeaver, and is being equipped with many of the Java side of NetWeaver is receiving.
ABAP is still the part of the SAP.
So I think thats it on ABAP, that will be there always. No implementation is possible without ABAP.
So the ABAP is dead or not doesn't leads to answer "Yes" or "No".
But for now, we can safely say that ABAP is not going anywhere. Itu2019s also becoming clear that whether youu2019re an SAP ABAP person or an SAP Java person, if you donu2019t make a commitment to understanding the latest generation of modeling tools (CE, Visual Composer, Aris for NetWeaver, etc.), and how they fit into the emerging Enterprise Architecture, youu2019re going to be left behind.

  • What should be the next after ABAP ?

    DEAR  EXPERTS,
I'm  new  in  ABAP.   I'm  trying  to  link  up  ABAP  with  the  other  FUNCTIONAL  MODULES, but  unfortunately  not  getting  much  resources.
IF  you  tell  me  about  any  sites  that  discusses  about  those  things  ,  I  shall  be  very  much  grateful  to  you.
BESIDES could  you  please  tell  me, after  completing  the ABAP-COURSE which  SAP-MODULE (EG : BI, BW  OR  SOMETHING ELSE)  I  can  take up  next  that  would be  helpful  in  the  FUTURE ?

    Rimichan,
You are staying in one of the best sites now. I'm also new in abap, but here's what I can suggest you. You should choose 1 between the 2 first. If you want to learn abap, then learn it first. Once you've been good at abap, then move to other functional modules. Or if you want to be a functional consultant, then try to take an ACCA, or CFA, or something equivalent and ignore abap ( you can learn later, in fact ). For your FUTURE, if you are really good at any modules in SAP, you'll have a very bright future for sure. So be interested in the thing you like, and try to be the best at it
    best regards,
    paul

  • ABAP Loop Question for next record

Hello All, I am new to ABAP so please forgive this basic question. The below is a snippet of code I have in a ABAP Proxy.
Here is a snippet of my code:
    DATA: ls_item    TYPE ZSHOPPING_CART_IN_BBP_PDS_SC_I.
DATA: i_item     TYPE TABLE OF bbp_pds_sc_item_icu.
    DATA: w_item     TYPE bbp_pds_sc_item_icu.
    LOOP AT input-I_ITEM-item INTO ls_item.
        CLEAR w_item.
        w_item-guid = v_item_guid.
        w_item-parent = v_header_guid.
        w_item-description = ls_item-description.
        w_item-number_int = ls_item-number_int.
        w_item-category = ls_item-category.
        w_item-category_id = ls_item-category_id.
        w_item-product_type = ls_item-product_type.
      APPEND w_item TO i_item.
      ENDLOOP.
The structure input-I_ITEM-item is an input from a ABAP Proxy. This all works great if I feed in only 1 line item to proxy, but if I send in two line items the result is i_item has line item 1 twice, and I get nothing for line item2. It is almost like the the loop runs twice but the ls_item stays on line 1. I am sure I am missing something simple.

Here is a snippet of the XML I am sending to ABAP proxy:

  • ABAP Certified and 3 years in ABAP..now thinking of next certification

    Hi Gurus,
I am Certified in SAP-ABAP Workbench 2 years back.
I have been working in ABAP for more than 3 years in HR and FICO...
    I have learnt BI/BW 3.5 and XI.
Now I am thinking that it is a time for other certification and move ahead in career...
So I am worried whether to switch to BI or XI..
Or Go Ahead in the Functional side...
Which side we have we have good oppurtunities...
    How about SAP-CRM,SCM etc..
Suggest me a best thing and I would strongly focus on that...
And I will be thankful if you provide me some links or place where we can get HR Functional stuff...

    HI Kumar,
You are already in golden container and i dont no y r u searching for other ones .....
abap-hr is the most demanded one now a days. you have experience in that. have you done cerrtification in it?if not do it.
still you want to migrate ......or learn bi and xi both are best in that i can tell you to choose for BI.
my best suggestion is to dont get migrate from present context. learn things. if you feel the move is important, then give a go.
    all the best
    happy learning,
    thanks

    Dear gurus,
In an attempt to close some threads neglected by the OP's this year and achieve SDN's goals with regards to points (see the Welcome thread about the UN food program and other donations made by SAP based on annual contributions) I will be combing through selected threads from the current year and closing them as moderator.
It will be impossible to do a perfect and complete job of this, but I will try my best to be fair and concentrate on those who have contributed valueable inputs of information but not been recognized appropriately.
Feel welcome to post links to threads which you feel are candidates for me to take a look into, or even add to the "FAQ & Memorable threads" sticky. You can also contact me via my Business Card details.
Also please close your own threads and do not dump them all to the top again unless there is a good reason to comment further (the comment field is not mandatory!)

  • Hello experts! Pls suggest me to choose next level of- (abap - 4+ exp now)

    Hello experts!
Now i have 4+ years of expereience in ABAP.Everything is going on fine. But my worry is about ABAP loosing it's value in sap. It's quite difficult in future to survive only with the ABAP.ABAP person will not be in a demand. When i discussed with some experts they have given  suggestion to move for BW, XI and EP etc..... Some experts adviced to me to study JAVA because of it's will play a big role in netweaver.
I am in a confusion now. This question is always running in my mind.
I knew that this is a question is running on in all abapers mind.
I can say that i am asking this question behalf of all abapers.
Please treat this message of a lot of guys carrer then answer.
    Waiting for all Experts anwer
    Thanks

    Hi,
i'm not a guru, but i think ABAP will remains for a long time to come.
Some months ago, i've read a document about why portal application written in ABAP is better (in terms of performance) that the others written purely in Java.
With the "new" introduction of WD for Abap, i think the language will be supported for a long time to come.
But i think could be interesting study a language like java, just for "personal culture". Nowadays, it's one of the standard methods to communicate with SAP (fc JCO).
And with JAVA paradigm, u'll not have any problems understanding Abap objects.
    Bye
    Andrea
