  • What Samsung Printer Drivers work with Lion?

Upgraded to Lion and my Samsung ML-1740 printer no longer prints.  Printer worked on Leopard and Snow Leopard with gutenprint drivers but no more with Lion OS.  Samsung says so sorry and Apple support sent me here.  Has any Samsung 1740 owner found a printer driver that will work with Lion OS?  Thanks...JS

    Hello,
Here is some news from Apple :
    Samsung Printer Drivers v2.2
    http://support.apple.com/kb/dl905
Apple says : "This download includes the latest Samsung  printing and scanning software for OS X Lion and Mac OS vX 10.6."
I've downloaded it and installed, but nothing seems to work anyway...
Alos, ther's no news about this on Samsung website.

  • OK to delete boms for uninstalled printer drivers in /Library/Receipts?

I've trashed a bunch of unnecessary printer drivers from /Library/Printers. Can I trash their related Receipts in /Library/Receipts/boms? Together they are using quite a few MBs. They all start with com.apple.
Another quick question: A 3rd party app called DockDoctor installed a number of Receipts in the same location at boms. I've uninstalled the app, but would like to know if it's OK to trash their Receipts located there. If I do, could that cause some sort of conflict (permissions?) with the a.receiptdb (inside the db folder) which I noticed was changed at the time I installed the app? Thanks

You can delete items from the receipts folder if you really really want to, but I wouldn't recommend it.
    - It shouldn't cause problems if the item is definitely removed.
    - It could cause problems if the item isn't removed.
In any case, for most people the risk outweighs the benefit. If you're really short on hard drive space, I'd recommend other strategies. It's also generally a good idea to stay out of the /Library folder.

  • Finding and installing software for samsung printer

Hello.  I am a new mac user and still learning, beginning to get frustrated...I am trying to install software for my older but perfectly functioning Samsung printer, ML-1430.  I had the orginial software cd which would not work, was not supported I guess.  My printer is not listed when I search for the software.  I just updated the software on my macbook pro, so it is presently OS X 10.8.5.  If anyone can help I would really appreciate it. I am really hoping I can use my printer, can't afford to buy a new one and it works so well.  Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

After searching around, it would seem that they do not supprt that device any longer. (This is not all that un common these dats unfortunatly).
But you can try contacting Samsung here and see if they will offer any support:

  • Windows update requirements for Xerox print drivers on Windows 2003 server

Hello, We are currently deploying a fleet of Xerox MFD's across ~100 locations, and we are running into an issue installing the print drivers on some Windows Server 2003 (32bit) boxes. (both the machine specific driver, as well as the Xerox Global print driver) The print driver installs fine, but no jobs will actually print, and if you try and print a test page, an error "Test page failed to print. Would you like to view the print troubleshooter for assistance?" comes up instantly. We have seem to have narrowed the problem down to a missing Windows update, as if we do all available High Priority and Optional updates, it starts to work fine. Does anybody know specifically which Windows updates are a requirement for the driver?  Our 2003 servers were last fully updated about a year ago, and due to time constraints, if we could just install the Windows updates that are needed it would be a big help. Thank you in advance

When Xerox dropped support for XP, they stopped adding particular files from the driver packs (probably for size reduction) because they were all included by default in every newer OS. If you install this here on any XP/2003 base machines it will work as normal. It is best to install that before the driver install, but I have been mostly lucky to have it work fine days later. YMMV

  • Cannot download Officejet 4630 printer drivers

I attempted to download drivers for the Officejet 4630 all-in-one. I was directed to a page to select my printer model. When I clicked on the model number, I was directed to a screen that had a picture of my printer, but little else. I was unable to do anything from that page. What do I do now?

The HP driver download pages are having problems currently.  If you are in a hurry the file you need for the Vista driver for the Officejet 4630 is file OJ4630_188.exe, a net search may provide alternate download locations.  Be careful when accessing third party sites....

  • Print Driver for Samsung printing machine doesn't exist?

Hello. At my workplace they have recently purchased a new giant printing machine called the Samsung SCX-7145. As a disclaimer I live and work in S. Korea so of course things are more confusing. Apple computers barely exists here.
Anyway, how can I print using this machine? It has an IP address and I tried adding the printer just using the IP address with no luck in printing. I can't find any mac drivers for the machine. Any ideas what to do?

In case anyone wants to know in the future I just added the IP address of the printer, selected a different Samsung driver and it seems to work now.

  • Error messages for HP printer drivers for printers I don't have

I keep getting error messages that say "HP Color LaserJet 3600 doesn't have a driver" and "HP LaserJet 4000 Series doesn't have a driver" but I don't have either of these HP models and I don't think I ever did. I tried to skip the message but it keeps coming back. Any ideas?  Do I completely unload all my HP software and reload it?
    Thanks!

Which computer? There is a label on the bottom.
Do I completely unload all my HP software and reload it?
Which HP software? Give us the model numbers of HP devices in use.
    When do the messages occur?

  • HT1338 after upgrading to Mountain Lion the HP printer drivers for my C4680 are not found on the Mac store (per my Mac Book)

My computer cannot install a printer after I upgraded to Mountain Lion. I have downloaded the HP printer drivers from the Mac Store. I click on add printer on Print and scan, the printer is connected via USB. I get a message that the drivers on not on Mac Store and cannot be installed.

True, not part of the list.
An older printer? You can only try contacting HP. Note that Apple is only the "distributor" of these drivers; HP as the vendor develops them. Or not...

  • Purging printer drivers help

i am trying to PURGE my MacPro and MBP of printer drivers for a HP 8500 before I install a HP 8600 that was provided in replacement. However, the HP "Scrubber" Utility would not let me continue to scrub the machine of 8500 info because I had deleted the Printer from the Print and Fax preferences after following the first set of instruction. So i re-added the printer in Print and Fax Preferences and it is still not allowing me to do the "scrub". Then I was provided being information in #2 below, which did not seem to help.
Now I am being told to follow the information in this url under "Additional Information" (#1 below) http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3771
Does anyone know the proper way to "scrub" my machine of this old information which will apparently corrupt the new install if left around? I've had months of aggravation with the old printer and I would like to cleanse my computer of any of this info.
I have an Epson and the new 8600 and have the install CD's in both cases.
THANKS IN ADVANCE FOR ANY HELP.

    Additional Information
    To delete a Print Queue
Click the print queue you would like to remove from the list in the "Printers" pane.
Click the - (minus) button below the "Printers" pane.
Click "Delete Printer" in the "Are you sure..." confirmation sheet.
To reset the printing system (if necessary)
Control-click or right-click a print queue in the "Printers" pane.
Choose "Reset printing system..." from the contextual menu.
Click "OK" in the "Are you sure..." confirmation sheet.
AppleTalk-based printersAppleTalk is a protocol that is not supported in Mac OS X v10.6.  Many network printers have support for IP-based printing protocols that can be used instead of AppleTalk.  Please see the "To add a printer via the Print & Fax preferences pane" section for information about how to add a printer using IP.  Or, visit your printer vendor's website or contact your printer vendor for technical support. If your printer can only use the AppleTalk protocol, the printer can be used if it is connected to, and shared by, an appropriate AppleTalk-capable printer server.  Snow Leopard can then use that print share to print via a supported IP-based protocol.  See the "How to add a printer" section above for details about how to connect to a shared printer to your Snow Leopard-based Mac.
Upgrading print queues from Mac OS X v10.5 LeopardWhen you update from Mac OS X v10.5 to Mac OS X v10.6, Mac OS X v10.6 will replace all printer software and recreate print queues for any printer from these printer vendors:HP, Canon, Epson, Brother, Lexmark, Samsung, Xerox, FujiXerox, Ricoh (includes Gestetner, Infotec, Lanier, NRG, Savin)If you have a printer that is not from one of these vendors, Mac OS X v10.6 will migrate your printer queue from Mac OS X v10.5 when you upgrade.
If the print queue that you migrated from Mac OS X v10.5 has an issue, try these steps
Ensure the printer is connected, has power, has ink / toner, paper, and no alerts on its built-in display.
Network based printers should be on the same subnet; you shouldn't have to worry about this if your printer is on your home network.
Use Software Update for the latest available updates.
Delete the affected printer from Printer & Fax System Preferences, then re-add the printer.
If you still have an issue, try these extra steps:
Reset the printing system (see above). Then, add the printer again.
If the issue persists, reset the printing system (see above).  Download and install printer drivers from here.  Then, add the printer again.
If the issue still persists, contact the printer vendor and/or visit their website for printer software and support.

Note: I know these steps are very similar to the steps to install the 8600 SW over the 8500A, but in this instance, the 8500A software is removed, and only the 8600 software is installed. The 8500A drivers are installed from ASU, and the 8600 software is utilized for scanning, and HP Utility. These steps have been tested and confirmed to work for instances where installing the 8600 software over the 8500A did not resolve the issue.
Step 1: Run the HP Scrubber Utility
    Scrubber
    1. Open the HP Uninstaller (Finder --> Applications --> Hewlett-Packard --> HP Uninstaller)
    2. On the screen where you select your product, press and hold the Ctrl, Opt, Apple keys (all 3 keys in the bottom left of your keyboard) while clicking uninstall.
You should receive a warning message asking if you are sure you want to uninstall ALL HP Software.
    3. Authenticate with your user name and password.
    4. Let the scrubber do its thing, then click Finish.
Step 2:  Manually remove the drivers/software that were added from ASU (if installed)
    1. Open Finder
    2. Click the icon for your hard disk in the navigation pane on the left
    3. Navigate to /Library/Printers
    4. Delete the hp folder
    5. Navigate to /Library/Printers/PPDs/Contents/Resources
    6. Delete all entries for HP devices from this folder.
    7. Empty the Trash

Oops. I found it with this part. Nevermind...
To reset the printing system (if necessary)
Control-click or right-click a print queue in the "Printers" pane.
Choose "Reset printing system..." from the contextual menu.
Click "OK" in the "Are you sure..." confirmation sheet.

  • New Printer Drivers won't load in Mac App Store

    Hi!
I've recently update my mid-2014 rMBP to the Final release of Yosemite, up from the Yosemite Public Beta 6. I've been able, during the beta phase to add my home printer (an HP OfficeJet 4500) after (or before?) the Mac App Store had downloaded the required HP drivers (3.3.1).
Now, however, I'm trying to add an HP LaserJet 1200 series (whose drivers are in the official list). I've tried several times, asked the MAS to check for new updates a thousand times but still it won't download any new printer drivers.
When adding the printer and selecting the driver from the list of drivers bundled with OS X, I could see various printers (with a large number of HP printers who use the aforementioned 3.0 drivers which have been downloaded already), but no HP LaserJet 1200. I don't have them because they're not the same as the 3.0 ones. On my sister's 2010 MBP, which didn't go through the beta testing phase, I found what seems to be all the drivers from the list (at least there was the one for the 1200 Series).
So my question is, how do I somehow "trigger" the MAS to download the required drivers (19.8) ? Is anyone else having troubles installing printer drivers?

Thank you for your quick reply! I've deleted the hp folder (and moved the PPD relating to the printer which is already installed, the OfficeJet, just to see if it would help) and had the MAS check for new updates. No success yet, though.
However there's a slight misunderstanding regarding which drivers I'm trying to install : I already have the 3.3.1 drivers (for the OfficeJet) but the drivers which won't download are the 19.8 for the LaserJet printer. are these separately downloadable too?

  • Installing DEB or RPM printer drivers on ArchLinux running on Pogoplug

I've managed to get Archlinux running on my ARM6 Pogoplug. I got the timemachine server up and running, and I'm moving on to a CUPS server. I can't find any linux drivers in the Gutenprint repository, but it appears that Lexmark has Linux driver downloads for my printer: http://support.lexmark.com/index?locale … age=null#1
That's great, except a) they only have Debian or RPM based packages, and b) from the CUPS web administration, it's asking for a "PPD" file. I've tried downloading both drivers to my Pogoplug and running the install scripts, but both fail, saying:
    Operating system: linux
    CPU Arch: armv6l
Warning: No installer for "armv6l" found, defaulting to x86...

  • What happened to the CUPS printer drivers?

I have an older HP Inkjet that worked well with the printer drivers that were available (and still are if you look online) with the CUPS.  Where have these driver's gone.  Is MacOS going the way of Windows, where each new update breaks old working things?
Is there a way to report this omission to Apple?  I think it is a bug.
    OA

They're still around. Have you downloaded the HP printer drivers package from Apple? You should also check the Gutenprint drivers for older printers and try HP's support site for an appropriate driver.
Go to Apple Feedback to report your complaint.

  • TS3147 Software download for HP Photosmart D6100 series 4.0.2 for Mountain Lion 10.8.4?

Does anyone know how to get the download software for HP Photosmart D6100 series *
4.0.2 for Mountain Lion 10.8.4? Apple says it's not available from their website. :o(

There is no software download for this printer.  It will all come through Apple Software Updates.  Most likely you are getting that message because the list of compatible devices needs to be updated.  You can find out more about this and how to correct it from the links below.  Let me know how it turns out.
