Download XCode without logging in to Apple...

I need to install XCode on my (10.4) server so that hopefully I can compile and install mod_python on the server. I need to download the XCode file from the Apple website, but it requires a login. I can download the installer to my (10.5) computer and then upload the file to the server. It seems stupid though to transfer the file twice just to get around Apple's login window.
How can I download the XCode installer withought logging in to Apple?

I tried all kinds of things with curl, including the login and password. I was able to login and download that page, but the download URL would not work. Apparently since it is a separate domain, it is not recognized.
You could probably get it to work by specifying the login cookie. Curl is supposed to be able to do complicated things like this.
I also attempted to use Lynx, but it does not support https protocol.
Links does. I had trouble compiling Lynx on early version of MacOS X while links worked fine. I have liked it ever since.
VNC is not installed on the server, and I don't even know what it is.
Do you have the actual Server version of 10.4? If so, then you do have VNC. You may have to enable it tough. It is a decent security hole so you don't want to run it 24/7. It stands for Virtual Network Computing. It is a kind of Remote Access.
This whole fiasco has seriously led me to believe a Linux server is what I need. Like Bill Scott posted in his screenshot... nice easy installations. Not the obstacle course Apple puts you through.
I think Bill is just upset that they deleted one of his posts recently. He is certainly glossing over lots of Linux headaches that you will never see on MacOS X.
Why again do you need to install Xcode on the remove computer? Why not compile what you need to on your machine and then just send that?

  • How do I download xcode without registering as an apple developer?

I'm trying to download xcode so I can wirte and compile c programs on my Mac.  This is for personal use.
I do NOT want to register as an "Apple developer" but every site I've found for downloading xcode requires me to register as an Apple Developer.
Where can I download xcode so I can write and compile c programs without being an Apple developer?

After reading both of your posts, I found my Snow Leopard disk.  I only got as far as reading the instructions on installing Xcode when I realized that everything gets put into /Developer NOT in the normal tree.  I already had it on my system!  However, "gcc" was unknown because nothing in the install process (or anywhere else) puts the /Developer tree into PATH.  So, the system couldn't find the compiler...
    Bad installation design...
Thanks though - if you hadn't mentioned that it was on the system disk, I wouldn't have found it!

I purchased adobe for someone else.  How do they download it without logging in to my account?

I will assume you mean Acrobat Standard XI.
They can download the trial version of the software thru the page linked below and then use the serial number you purchased for them to activate it.
Be sure to follow the steps outlined in the Note: Very Important Instructions section on the download pages at this site and have cookies enabled in your browser or else the download will not work properly.

  • I want to upgrade to Yosemite on my work computer, but don't want it tied to my personal Apple ID.  Is there a way to download without logging in via Apple ID?

In case I leave the company or other reasons, don't really want to tie my work computer to my personal Apple ID.
IIs this something I should be worried about?  Or does it really matter?

Ask the computer’s owner for permission and log in with the work Apple ID.

  • My laptop (HP Pavilion) will not allow me to upgrade or download Firefox without logging in as Administrator, and I don't recall ever setting up a password for Administrator...I'm the only user of the laptop. How can I get around this?

I was trying to upgrade to the newest version of Firefox, and when I downloaded it, and clicked on run, it took me to a login box, where I had to choose whether to continue as current user or login as Administrator. When I clicked on continue as current user, nothing happened. When I tried logging on as Administrator, I used all the passwords I could think of that I use and nothing was accepted. Id on't recall ever setting up a password for Adminstrator on this computer, so I don't know what to do. I even deleted the older version of Firefox thinking that might help, but it didn't work either, and now I don't even have that! Help!

What iPhone do you have? You can check in settings>>general>> about.
If you have a 3G you cannot update beyond iOS 4.2.1. The 3G is over 4 years old an was discontinued over 2 1/2 years ago. You need the latest ios to run the latest versions of some apps. If you have a 3GS you can update.
If your phone is not responding, reset it by pressing and holding down both the home button ad lock/ sleep button simultaneously until the Apple logo appears.

I saved some of my music to a Cloud I can't access. Now, they show up as "Purchased" in iTunes, and I'm not given the option of re-downloading OR repurchasing them.
Music purchased from the iTunes store is not stored in your personal iCloud account, and an iCloud account is not required to redownload them.  You should be able to redownload them as explained here: http://support.apple.com/kb/ht2519.  If you are unable to, contact iTunes store support for assistance by going to https://expresslane.apple.com ; click ‘iTunes', and then 'iTunes Store', then 'Purchases, Billing & Redemption'.

    Try This...
Close All Open Apps... Sign Out of your Account... Perform a Reset... Try again...
Reset  ( No Data will be Lost )
Press and Hold the Sleep/Wake Button and the Home Button at the Same Time...
Wait for the Apple logo to Appear...
Usually takes about 15 - 20 Seconds... ( But can take Longer...)
    Release the Buttons...

  • I can't download Xcode off of the Apple Store

    Hi,
I am trying to download "XCode" onto my computer, an app that allows coding. It keeps saying that Xcode couldn't be downloaded on "Macintosh HD" because 10.8.4 or later is required. I tried seeing if I needed a software update and it says that my software is up to date. Please help! (My Mac is 10.7.5 and its saying that I'm up to date)
Please help!!! I need this app quick!!!

    Clayton,
there are different versions of Xcode that run on different versions of OS X. You’ll probably need to log in to the Mac Dev Center to find the particular version of Xcode that runs on Lion.

  • STATUS_CODE_ERROR when downloading xcode

    Hello,
This morning, I installed vmware on windows 8, then installed Yosemite from some website, turned it on, and everything worked like a charm, but then I got a notification for updating the OS, so I started updating Yosemite while downloading xcode, then I had to restart after updating completed and I forgot that I was downloading xcode.
After updating and restarting, I went back to AppStore to re-download xcode, when I hit install, I window shows up asking me to log in, when I try to log in, I get this error:
    STATUS_CODE_ERROR
I restarted, waited, tried again, but all the same.
Am I doing something wrong? or there's something else wrong with the AppStore maybe?
    Thank you.

I have just had this problem as well, this morning. (Apple Log-In 11-03-2015)
I have just updated the latest OSX Security Update 2015-002, which updated with a restart. This was successful on my iMac and my wife MacBook.
However there is an iMovie Update Apple Version 10.0.07 which was in the App Update application, on both iMac and MacBook.
On both I received the STATUS_CODE_ERROR.
I have signed into iTunes, iCloud and also double checked by checking my ID status with the Apple ID Management facility. They all work with my Apple ID, so why am i getting this STATUS_CODE_ERROR.
This same STATUS_CODE_ERROR shows up on my wife's MacBook, which also allows her to sign in on iCloud, iTunes and the Apple Management facility without error.
This seems strange to me as these same ID's have to be used for the iMovie update?

  • How to download Xcode?!

I've tried to download the Xcode, filled out all the lengthy forms to register myself as a developer. However, clicking "download Xcode fro free" didn't help. I'm suggested "to learn more" or "log in" (which I did), but still cannot download.
    Suggestions?

The XCode software for Leopard 10.5 should be found on the DVD.
For OS X 10.5 Leopard you should be looking for Xcode 3.1.4.
Later versions are for Snow Leopard 10.6 at developer site.
There should be an appropriate page available via registered login
to the Apple Developer site; I'm not registered to search in-depth.
+You’re running an older OS, you need to go to this alternative developer website:+
    • http://connect.apple.com/
+Log in with your ADC credentials, click “Downloads”, then click “Developer Tools”+
+in the right sidebar, and then search the page for “3.1.4″.+ (from KT's post 04-14-10)
You could try variations of words via search engine to get some info.
General information is online. This link may be what you already tried:
    • Download Xcode - Apple Developer:
    http://developer.apple.com/technologies/xcode.html
If you have an install/restore disc which shipped with your
computer (if it had Leopard/new) or a retail DVD Leopard
install disc, you should be able to use option to install Xcode.
You may need to read through these to be sure of version limits:
    • Xcode Release Notes:
    http://developer.apple.com/library/mac/#releasenotes/DeveloperTools/RN-Xcode/
    Search page:
    http://developer.apple.com/search/index.php?Search=xcodeforLeopard
Apparently the Xcode for Snow Leopard 10.6 is available; newer
versions than one on an install DVD are online for download. If
one is using 10.6 system, be sure to uninstall an older version
before using a new download developer version in your OS.
Leopard is a little harder to get, without the 10.5 install DVD.
Other items found require me to login at the developer page.
If you do not have the Leopard Install disc,
to get that would be about the best answer.
    Good luck & happy computing!
