Is there a way to remove this custom filter from the console without having to load the console?  I cannot delete it in the console as every time I select it the console crashed before I can delete.

Hi,
One of the below outlined options may assist.
Option 1:
You can attempt to rename the jobfilters.xml with the below steps. Please note renaming jobfilters.xml will remove all custom filters in place and they will need to be recreated.
Log into DPM server with the user account the custom filter was created with. Ensure the DPM console is closed.
From control panel select appearance---show hidden file and folders. Ensure for Hidden files and folders that the radio button is selected for Show hidden files, folders,
and drives
From windows explorer navigate to the following path
<OS Install Path>\Users\ <account logged in with when DPM custom filter was created> \ AppData\Roaming\Microsoft System Center Data Protection Manager\JobsFilter.xml
   4. Rename JobsFilter.xml to JobFilters_old.xml
   5. Open the DPM console.
    6. Navigate to Monitoring- Jobs we should see all custom filters are no longer in place. If so re-create pervious working filters if any.
Option 2:
Provide full DPMUI0Curr.errlog to assist with investigating further as it may contain errors on the crash.
Log into DPM server with the user account the custom filter was created with.
Take needed steps to reproduce the crash behavior.
From control panel select appearance---show hidden file and folders. Ensure for Hidden files and folders that the radio button is selected for Show hidden files, folders,
and drives
From windows explorer navigate to the following path
<OS Install Path>\Users\ <account logged in with when DPM custom filter was created> \ AppData\Roaming\Microsoft System Center 2012 R2 Data Protection Manager\DPMUI0Curr.errlog
   6. Open the DPMUI0Curr.errlog

    Hi,
It sounds like you have a DPMDB inconsistency that is not possible to troubleshoot in a forum setting. Either restore the DPMDB from before the problem occurred and run dpmsync -sync  or open a support case so it can be diagnosed and corrected.

We have updated the dpm agents on all of the servers that we back up by installing the update on the servers manually and according to the data in the DPM database it has acknowledged that they are indeed updated.
From what I can tell from the errors is the console is attempting to read the updateprotectionstatus from the database and it is not returning a value and thus causing it to crash.  but I have no clue as to where this might be in the database to even
check if it simply missing from an update gone wrong.
I did notice that the update attempted to install twice through windows update and failed.  The update does show as installed under installed updates in programs and features control panel
Any help on this would be appreciated as it does make it difficult to manage our dpm server

    Hi,
    See if this is relevant.
    1. Take a DPMDB backup.
    2. Open SQL Management studio and connect to the DPM instance.
    3. Expand the DPM database and go to the table tbl_AM_Server.
    4. Edit the table, and under the "ServerName" column check for the DPM server name. It should be the FQDN. If it is the NetBIOS name then change it to the FQDN.
    5. Try re-opening the DPM console and navigate to the management tab and see if that works now.

  • DPM 2012 R2 console crashes after install RU5 Solved

    Just to Share
The GUI might freeze in one of the following cases :
    Case1:
You have never protected the DPM server’s System State, with the DPM server itself
You have protected some System State from other Production Servers
    You upgrade to UR5
You trigger an inquiry on the DPM Server itself
    Case2:
You have a primary DPM server protecting the System State of a Production Server
You have attached the primary DPM server to a secondary DPM server for Disaster Recovery
You upgrade the secondary DPM server to UR5
You trigger an inquiry on the
primary DPM server in the secondary DPM server UI
    Then:
The UI crashes, and gets hung if you start it again
    Cmdlets are also unresponsive
    Workaround:
Stop all DPM services (MSDPM, Access Manager, DPM Writer, DPMRA, VssNullProvider)
Open the SQL Server Management Studio (Either from Start Screen, or Run: ssms.exe)
Connect to the SQL Instance holding the DPM DB
    Backup Your DPM Backup
Right click the DPM DB and click on “New Query”
    Paste the following SQL script:
    DELETE
    FROM dbo.tbl_IM_ProtectedObject
    WHERE
    ProtectedObjectId IN
    SELECT PO.ProtectedObjectId
    FROM dbo.tbl_IM_ProtectedObject
    AS PO
    JOIN dbo.tbl_AM_Server
    AS SRVR
    ON PO.ServerId
    = SRVR.ServerId
    WHERE (CONVERT(VARCHAR(4096),PO.ComponentName)
    = 'System State'
    OR CONVERT(VARCHAR(4096),PO.ComponentName)
    = 'Bare Metal Recovery')
    AND PO.ProtectedInPlan
    = 0
    AND PO.ProtectedObjectId
    NOT IN
    (SELECT
    ProtectedObjectId FROM
    dbo.tbl_IM_ProtectedObjectAlerts)
    AND LOWER(CONVERT(XML,PO.LogicalPath).value(
    '(/child::ArrayOfInquiryPathEntryType/child::InquiryPathEntryType[attribute::Type="Server"]/attribute::Value)[1]',
    'VARCHAR(4096)'
    )) !=
    LOWER(SRVR.ServerName)
    Press F5 to execute
    Start all DPM services
The UI and cmdlets should work normally as before

  • MMC crashing when opening DPM 2012 management console

Just like the subject says, the console crashes whether opening natively or if we try and add the DPM snap-in to mmc.exe. We get a generic 999 event being thrown that a dead end.
The server is fully patched and everything worked through last Friday. Monday morning it was not. Backups are still being done but we don't have the console to visually check and would rather get that up than wrangle with powershell in the interim. We thought
we would post here before re-installing to see if anyone had any suggestions. We've already tried restarting the service as some other threads have suggested.
Here is an excerpt from the crash report:

    Hi
SP1 for DPM 2012 might fix the issue.
Here is a similar thread that applies to DPM 2007 but possibly the same as DPM 2012, possibly that the DPM service is crashing:

  • Instantiation error with custom filter implementation

have implemented the custom filter in oracle UCM 11. component is created via component wizard and it's succesfully deployed and enabled in content server. filter is being associated with event validateStandard.
when we check-in a file, check-in is failing due to message below
Unable to do filter 'mypackage.CustomFilter' for type 'validateStandard'. Unable to instantiate java class code for 'mypackage.CustomFilter' at location 'mypackage.CustomFilter'
we've placed the java class file under custom component folder. with-in custom component folder we've created mypackage and then placed class file (since mypackage is java package).
    Below mentioned is the stacktrace,

It looks like the filter is not properly locating the compiled Java class.
In Component Wizard, did you go into the Advanced Build Settings and ensure there is an Install ID and the classes properly points to your compiled Java class?
Here is a sample component which implements a filter: http://jonathanhult.com/blog/2012/07/minify-css-and-javascript-automatically-in-webcenter-content/
You can try loading that into Component Wizard and determining what your component is missing. You could also compare the manifest.hda files between components.

  • DPM Remote Admin Console crashes on startup after installing Rollup 5

Just installed System Center DPM rollup 5 on our server (and restarted) and my admin PC. When I start the DPM admin client on my PC it crashes MMC on startup.  Clients with only rollup 4 installed can still launch the client without issue.
The error shows up in the event log as event 999 below:
An unexpected error caused a failure for process 'mmc'.  Restart the DPM process 'mmc'.

Any insights as to how to resolve this or what could be going on?
PS. I've also removed and reinstalled the remote client on my PC without any change in this behavior.  The console on the DPM server itself works however.

    Hi Guys
the GUI crashes issue after R5 in the following cases
    Backup your DPM DB
Open the SQL Server Management Studio (Either from Start Screen, or Run: ssms.exe)
Connect to the SQL Instance holding the DPM DB
Right click the DPM DB and click on “New Query”
    Paste the following SQL script:
    DELETE
    FROM dbo.tbl_IM_ProtectedObject
    WHERE
    ProtectedObjectId IN
    SELECT PO.ProtectedObjectId
    FROM dbo.tbl_IM_ProtectedObject
    AS PO
    JOIN dbo.tbl_AM_Server
    AS SRVR
    ON PO.ServerId
    = SRVR.ServerId
    WHERE (CONVERT(VARCHAR(4096),PO.ComponentName)
    = 'System State'
    OR CONVERT(VARCHAR(4096),PO.ComponentName)
    = 'Bare Metal Recovery')
    AND PO.ProtectedInPlan
    = 0
    AND PO.ProtectedObjectId
    NOT IN
    (SELECT
    ProtectedObjectId FROM
    dbo.tbl_IM_ProtectedObjectAlerts)
    AND LOWER(CONVERT(XML,PO.LogicalPath).value(
    '(/child::ArrayOfInquiryPathEntryType/child::InquiryPathEntryType[attribute::Type="Server"]/attribute::Value)[1]',
    'VARCHAR(4096)'
    )) !=
    LOWER(SRVR.ServerName)
    Press F5 to execute
    Start all DPM services
The UI and cmdlets should work normally as before

Console with them (WL Server 7.0). The server is successfully started
with a user that has been given rights to '<svr>.myserver.boot' etc.
Logging into Console is successful as well and most Console pages can
be viewed as usual. But when i'm trying to save any changes, or if i
try to just view certain Console pages, i get
    'weblogic.management.NoAccessRuntimeException'. For example:
    weblogic.management.NoAccessRuntimeException: Access not allowed for
    subject: principals=[MyPrincipalImpl:  Admin Weblogic], on
ResourceType: JDBCTxDataSource Action: write, Target: PoolName
    or
    weblogic.management.NoAccessRuntimeException: Access not allowed for
    subject: principals=[MyPrincipalImpl:  Admin Weblogic], on
    ResourceType: Security:Name=MyRealmMyAuthenticator Action: execute,
    Target: listGroups
When viewing most console pages, the custom provider is called by
WebLogic, resource information is parsed, then found from the
Principal and permission is granted. But as seen above, in some cases
WebLogic itself tries to find something non-existing from my
Principal, totally bypassing my custom provider implementation.
Obviously i am missing something here :).
Is there a way to direct all Console security checks to my custom
provider, or could this perhaps be a matter of configuration?
Any and all help is greatly appreciated!

  • Keynote crashes with custom images bullets

Anyone had problems with custom image bullets? I am using a custom image bullet – a simple bracket set that's not supported by Keynote because it's a glyph – so I saved the image file as a png file and placed it as a custom bulllet. Now if I add a new text box (sans bullet) it automatically adds the bullet and I can't remove it. Also, if I try to copy and paste a text box it force quits Keynote even though a bullet isn't used. It seems like obviously the problem is the bullet so I've tried deleting it from all master pages and existing pages and it hasn't helped.
I'm still using the old version of Keynote but would this be resolved in the new Keynote? I haven't read much positive about the new Keynote so I'm apprehensive.

    Hello!
Can somebody give a hint here? We are blocked by this problem.

Our DPM Server has a 4Gb configured with NicTeaming (SLB - Switch Load Balance), there is no fw between the DPM Server and Protection Servers.
We receive some DCOM errors too:
Level Date and Time Source Event ID Task Category
Error 25-02-2014 10:17:18 Microsoft-Windows-DistributedCOM 10009 None DCOM was unable to communicate with the computer server.contoso.com using any of the configured protocols.
We already uninstalled some agents, cleaning folders/files registry and after installed the agents again and performed setdpmserver -dpmservername <dpmserver>
we can ping, we can traceroute, sc query, net view \\server , nothing is blocked...
in DPM console -> Management -> Agents, when we try to refresh the connection the agent status is always "Attempting connection..." if we close and open DPM console the Agent Status is Unknown.
The version of the Agents is 4.2.1270.0
    Is anyone with same problem.
    Thanks in advance

  • SCOM 2012 R2 on Windows Server 2012 R2 console crash

I have a brand new install of Windows Server 2012 R2, SCOM 2012 R2 with all the latest windows updates available.  Whenever I go to the authoring/overrides section I get a pop-up dialog re: the Microsoft .NET framwor / unhandled exception "A generic
error occurred in GDI+ - Also my 'scope bar' has a red X through it - see screen shot.  I can continue, and use the console, but it's annoying.
    Any ideas?
    B. Wright

    Hi Wright,
I also had a similar issue like the one which you are facing. I just re installed the .NET Frame work 4.0.3xx and it resolved my issue. Please check the below thread which i raised for your reference. Hope it helps you.

  • Bridge crashes with Custom Connector

We've built a custom connector for Drive to connect with our DAM. If we enable the READ_XMP_METADATA capability, Bridge crashes immediately as soon as we browse a folder where images exist. We strongly believe the crash occurs when Bridge tries to read the thumbnails for the images (thumbnails for images is a mandatory feature for us). It happens on every Drive version from 4.2 to 5.0.1, on Windows 32/64bit and on OSX.
On the hotline I was told there is no telephone support for Drive and I should consider going to the forums, so here I am. Please advise how to get a solution for this. I can provide sourcecodes and access to our server to reproduce the problem.

    Hello!
Can somebody give a hint here? We are blocked by this problem.

  • SCCM 2012 Admin Console deployed using APP-V v4.5.3 crashes

    Good afternoon,
I am trying to deploy the 2012 SCCM Admin Console to users via APP-V v4.5.3.
I built a clean Server 2008 R2 Standard server, ran the APP-V sequencer and created the package. Then copied the package to our APP-V server and ran the Application Virtualization Management Console to Import the Application.
Having completed the work above the SCCM Admin Console icon appears on the relevant users desktop and opens / connects to the SCCM site server successfully.
Problems arise when you begin to navigate around the SCCM Admin Console. As soon as you select anything the console crashes with the error: Microsoft.ConfigurationManagement.exe has stopped working - Close the program
    Any ideas please ?
    Andrew

As far as I'm aware sequencing the ConfigMgr console is not supported. However there are blog posts on how to do this.
    http://blogs.technet.com/b/appv/archive/2013/01/08/how-to-sequence-the-microsoft-system-center-2012-configuration-manager-admin-console-with-microsoft-app-v.aspx
    http://blogs.technet.com/b/configmgr_geek_speak/archive/2013/05/29/sequencing-the-system-center-configuration-manager-2012-administrator-console-with-app-v-5-0.aspx
The App-V versions in these posts are V4.6 SP1 and V5. I see that you are using V4.5.3. Perhaps this is the problem.

Have you ensured that you have the latest version of Quicktime from Apple.com?
What model of camcorder is your video coming from and what format and resolution is it?
