Dragging ADF FACES DVT Values

Hi,
Does ADF DVT bar graph support dragging its data?
Use Case:
I would show a user a bar chart displaying his current values for certain products.
User can choose to drag the value up and down to increase/decrease its current value.
Is this possible?
It is some sort of dynamically changing the bar chart value on the fly using the DVT UI..

Yes you can - see the code in the ADF Faces components demo:

Hi Shay, thanks for the info...
I tried to read at the documentation, I only see drag and drop functionality for the Scatter/Bubble/Gannt Chart from the Web User Interface Guide.
How about the bar chart and line chart? Does this support this also?
I mean, you can drag the value of the bar chart up and down and not dragging and dropping it on the other part of the graph which is done by the scatter or bubble graph.
Of course, I would add some logic to save this data in my managed bean.

  • ADF Faces: Dvt map: How to call taskflow step after to execute javascript

    Hi. I have a page fragment jsff with a dvt:map. I wrote a javascript function that catch zoom and x and y coordinates of click in the map and I need to use these parameter to call a task flow step that call a java method. How to do that ? I put setPropertyListeners inside the dvt:map but it don't works because dvt:map don't have the partialSubmit attribute.

    My task flow is this way:
    (view activity)mapLocalization -> (outcome)selecUnitsInThisZoomLevel -> (method call activity)ExecuteWithParams -> (outcome)ExecuteWithParams -> (task-flow-call)invocation machine
    mapLocalization is a jsf fragment that contains a dvt:map. mapLocalization has to call ExecuteWithParams
    by outcome selecUnitsInThisZoomLevel passing as parameter the current map zoom because ExecuteWithParams refers to a
    view of a ADF data control, and this view gets a bind variable that is this map zoom for to return a code of
    geografic unit that refers to this map zoom.
    mapLocalization gets this map zoom by javascript function that called by left click in the dvt:map.
    But after that click in the dvt:map, I don't know continue the task flow explained above because dvt:map don't have the "action"
    atribute.
    How to solve this?

  • ADF Faces: dvt:map undefined title in the maptip

    Hi! I'm using the component dvt:map that for specific reasons of my application I am inserting it on a page for a backing bean. When the map appears on the page and I click in a geometry of the current theme shows a map tip with information about the geometry but the title of map tip is writing as undefined. The theme of the map I inserting as PredefinedThemeFOI class. Do I must set some attribute in the map or PredefinedThemeFOI?
    Edited by: reginaldo oliveira on 08/03/2011 12:35

    If you are using predefined theme, please make sure you have a label column defined for your theme in mapBuilder. The label defined in the theme definition will be used as the header of the infoWindow.

  • Passing parameters between portletized ADF Faces applications, possible?

    Hello,
    In the developer guide, section 4.5.3 (http://download-east.oracle.com/docs/cd/B32110_01/webcenter.1013/b31074/jpsdg_pages.htm#CHDGGCGE) it says that you can synchronize portlets using an ADF Faces component value. However, that example do not use a value coming from a real portlet, the parameter come from a selectOneChoice define in the container page.
    Is there a way to achieve the same thing but with the selectOneChoice being placed in the WSRP 2.0 portlet? Basically the communication scheme is WSRP 2.0 to WSRP 2.0 which is something possible using URL parameters. However, the problem with JSF components is that they pass their values through a JavaScript launched POST submit so the values are never added to the URL and even worst, you cannot be sure of the generated parameter name as it depends on the context in which the component exists (mainly the presence of a parent NamingContainer) and the only way to know that parameter name for sure is to have a way to call component.getClientId(facesContext) which is impossible for the portlet container and therefore for the other portlets.
    To put it shortly, is there a way to send a navigation parameter from a portletized ADF Faces application to its container page beside using goButton and goLink (we need to keep the action/actionListener functionality)?
    Regards,
    Simon Lessard

    Can someone explain how to assign a value to a parameter in JSF like in the ParameterFormPortlet source code? Something in replacement of this :
        if (viewMode)
          // Set the new parameter values. These will be intepreted by the
          // container as navigational parameters as the names match the names of
          // the declared parameters.
          actionResponse.setRenderParameter(PARAMETER1, param1);
          actionResponse.setRenderParameter(PARAMETER2, param2);
          actionResponse.setRenderParameter(PARAMETER3, param3);
        }I mean, how to replace setRenderParameter to achieve the same thing inside a JSF binding bean for example. Is it possible via the PortletContext?
    Thanks in advance for any hint.

    !!! All tag prefixes are changed to af: or rather afh: !!!
    Why? Is this a feature? WHERE CAN I DISABLE THIS???
    I read in docs that ADF Faces components works well together with RI components or other and i can mix them.

    I posted about this recently and didn't get a single response. I've scoured the project setting/ preferences and was unable to find any pertinant setting. The workaround i've used is to design the entire page and then use notepad(yep notepad) to add the adf tags. Don't bother trying to open the .jsp/.jspx again in jdev or it will modify the tags. I'm assuming this will be addressed in the production release and am hoping this is not a branding issue.
    I'd love to hear a products person address this.

  • How to set values of a parameterized message in ADF Faces?

    Hi all,
    i've got the following problem: I want to set the values of a parameterized message before i add the message to the FacesContext.
    Contents of the message resource bundle:
    testPage.successMsg.create=The device {0} was created successfully!
    Code within backing bean method:
    String message = getStringFromBundle("testPage.successMsg.create");
    FacesContext.getCurrentInstance().addMessage(null, new FacesMessage(message));
    In Struts/ADF UIX the following code did the job:
    protected void setUIXInfoMessage(HttpServletRequest request, String key, Object[] args)
    MessageData msgs = new MessageData();
    MessageResources mr = this.getResources(request);
    String msg = "";
    if (mr != null)
    msg = mr.getMessage(request.getLocale(), key, args);
    msgs.addMessage(null, msg, null, UIConstants.MESSAGE_TYPE_INFO);
    request.setAttribute(UIX_MESSAGE_KEY, msgs);
    Can anyone help me with this problem? I have searched a lot in the Oracle ADF Development Guide and within forum, but did not find any solution.
    Another interesting thing is, how to set the parameters from jspx-Code.
    How can i achieve the same results in ADF Faces corresponding to the following UIX-Code:
    <boundAttribute name="title">
    <messageFormat format="${nls['deleteTip.confirmation']}">
    <dataObject source="${bindings.TipName}"/>
    </messageFormat>
    </boundAttribute>
    Resource Bundle:
    deleteTip.confirmation=Do you really want to delete the tip {0}?
    Another question:
    What are the corresponding elements in ADF Faces corresponding to <concat> and <if> in UIX or what possibilites exist in ADF Faces to dynamically concatenate strings depending on certain conditions?
    I know, these are many questions. I am familiar with UIX, but now i have to start developing applications with ADF Faces and there are some things i don't find corresponding equivalents.
    Thanks in advance!

    Hi,
    SRDemo shows you how to do this declratively
    <h:outputFormat value="#{res['srcreate.confirmPanel.message']}"
    escape="false" id="nextButton">
    <f:param value="#{requestScope.SRDEMO_CREATED_SVRID}"/>
    </h:outputFormat>
    where the <f:param ...> element sets the value of the variable
    To programmatically access internationalized strings, SRDemo uses
    private static ResourceBundle getBundle() {
    FacesContext ctx = getFacesContext();
    UIViewRoot uiRoot = ctx.getViewRoot();
    Locale locale = uiRoot.getLocale();
    ClassLoader ldr = Thread.currentThread().getContextClassLoader();
    return ResourceBundle.getBundle(ctx.getApplication().getMessageBundle(),
    locale, ldr);
    public static String getStringFromBundle(String key) {
    ResourceBundle bundle = getBundle();
    return getStringSafely(bundle, key, null);
    You take it from there and put it to a FacesMessage, If it uses parameters I guess you will have to parse the string

  • ADF Faces: How do I set values for input controls in an af:table

    Use case: user enters master/detail information into an input form using an af:table for the desired number of detail rows.
    I have an ADF Faces input form with master level input controls, and an af:table (bound to a backing bean CoreTable) for the detail data set.
    The input controls are value bound to updateable view objects built from entity objects, with the appropriate view links providing master/detail iterators.
    Once the user has entered the master keys (via inputTexts, and selectOneChoices), I create a row in the detail VO, thus creating a visible blank row in the af:table.
    The user then completes the key for the detail row (in the af:table) by selecting a value in a selectOneChoice (in a af:column) with autoSubmit on and a valueChangeListener that sets the VO row attribute with the new value.
    The user then continues to enter into the remaining inputTexts and selectOneChoices in the af:columns until all values have been entered.
    I do not have autoSubmit on for any input controls in the af:columns other than the key, for performance improvement.
    The user can then use a command button (which has an action method) to create another row in the af:table.
    But, (in the action method) I need to set the values for the 1st detail VO row attributes, from the input controls, before creating another row.
    The input controls are bound to backing bean CoreInputText and CoreSelectOneChoice objects, and they have not set their values at this point, even though I have partialSubmit on for the "New Row" command button.
    I do not value bind the input controls in the af:columns to the backing bean objects, because we need to display data for all rows entered into the af:table.
    Any advice on the best way to perform this operation would be very appreciated!!!!

    Thanks for the reply Steve!!
    Yes, I followed the techniques in Screencast#7, and it works great in my edit page.
    But I am having problems with my input form.
    I actually have master/detail/detail relationship for which I am creating an input form.
    I created the input form as a copy of the edit form, and am making revisions as necessary.
    I created new view objects for the input form (from my three entity objects), which have the "Tuning" set to retrieve "No Rows (i.e. used only for inserting new rows)"
    I added an invokeAction that binds the "CreateInsert" action on the master iterator, so when the page is first displayed, the master level controls are available for data entry (as in 13.6.2 in the Developers Guide): but the first level detail controls are not rendered, and the af:table (for the second level detail) is rendered but with no rows.
    Once the user enters key values for the master (a three part key), I manually create a first level detail row by executing the "CreateInsert" action binding for the first level detail iterator.
    Continuing on, the user then enters a key value for the first level detail I manually create a second level detail row using it's "CreateInsert" action binding.
    Now the user has a form with all master and first level detail controls completed and one empty row in the af:table for it's first entry.
    The key column in the af:table has autoSubmit on, and an value change listener. That listener uses it's getNewValue() to set the key value ("locationCode" in this case) using
    setLocationCode from the ViewRowImpl. Here is that value change listener:
    public void locationChanged(ValueChangeEvent event) {
    if (null != event.getNewValue()) {
    LocObsCreateViewRowImpl locCreateRow = (LocObsCreateViewRowImpl)appMod.findViewObject("LocObsCreateView").getCurrentRow();
    if (null == locCreateRow.getLocationCode()) {
    locCreateRow.setLocationCode(event.getNewValue().toString());
    Now comes my problem: once they have entered the values in the remaining columns, they can use a command button to create another row in the 2nd detail iterator, thus creating another visible empty row in the af:table. But the values from the first row (other than the key column) are not assigned to the row in the collection and I can't figure out how to set values in the collection's row.
    I imagine I'm missing something using bindings and the Request Processing Lifecycle, and after reading this I can see how much manual work is going on.
    The users have specified the need to have all information available on one page, so I've designed it so they can insert and iterate through the first level detail collection.
    They have also asked to not use the mouse; they are looking for a "heads-down-data-entry" system.
    Again, I really appreciate any advice you could give.

  • Drag andn Drop facility in af:tree in ADF Faces

    Hi,
    I am exploring on the possibilities to get drag and drop feature working in an ADF Faces Tree element. Basically, I want to drag the nodes in the tree under other nodes within the same tree.
    I tried using some Javascript libraries to achieve the same.
    http://ajaxpatterns.org/Drag-And-Drop#In_A_Blink
    But it seems that ADF Faces generate the "Id" of the nodes of the tree by prepending some string like "_id1:" to the ID provided in the Property Inspector for the node stamp of the tree element. So, we cannot use those libraries either which rely on the node id of the elements.
    Does ADF Faces plan to introduce this drag and drop feature in the af:tree element.
    Any help will be highy useful.
    Thanks,
    Ankit Goel

    Hi Frank,
    Can we know as to when ADF is planning to bring the drag and drop feature in ADF Tree component. Also, we would want to get a handle to the node ids of the tree. We need this to implement some right click features on the tree nodes. Is this also considered in the new UI features project.
    Can we know of any page where all new upcoming features are listed, or we can request for any desired UI features. Please help.
    Thanks,
    Ankit

  • [ADF BC | ADF Faces] Updating a table with values updated in transaction

    Summary: A table is based on a view with a bind variable. Based on some action, I update rows in the view so that they no longer satisfy the query. How do I update the table to reflect this?
    I have an ADF Faces page with a multi-select table component on it, mapped to an ADF Business Components view object. The view object has a bind variable (:Status), which is used in the query to only retrieve rows with a specific status.
    The user selects rows in the table that should have their status changed, and then hits a button to perform the action. In the backing bean for the page, the button click is processed and the selected rows are updated to a different status. At this point the transaction is not committed.
    Changing the status of these rows now means that they no longer match the where clause of the view object, yet they still appear in the table.
    My question is, how can I update the table so that rows which don't match the where clause are removed?
    This is a simplified version of the problem I am working on - this needs to work when rows that aren't in the table are being updated so that they now MATCH the where clause and rows may also be added or completely removed.

    Quite an interesting little problem....
    I have created a simple test case to illustrate your scenario - perhaps Steve M could comment...
    My scenario:
    1). create an EO based on the HR.EMPLOYEES table
    2). create an updatable VO based upon the aforementioned EO. Add "COMMISSION_PCT IS NULL" to the where clause.
    3). Add the VO to an app module as usual.
    4). Create an ADF Faces page by dropping the VO from the data control as an ADF table. Show only first name, last name, and commission pct.
    5). Add a command button to the page so I can call various code from the backing bean.
    Now, when I update the commision for the first record to ".1" and press the submit button (the one in the table actions facet), the update "takes" - I assume that it's just in the EO cache at this point. The record still shows on the screen, even though it no longer meets the where clause criteria.
    When I add some code to the command button (#5) to perform a commit - the record STILL shows on the screen after committing to the DB. I can make the record disappear by either (in the same backing-bean method that does the commit)
    a). Re-execute the iterator after the commit
    b). Call "clearVOCaches" on the application module (forces the iterator to re-execute)
    I even tried programmatically adding the where clause back in (via addWhereClause) and re-executing the iterator - no go. I suspect that the only way to do this would be to post the changes to the DB (without committing them) and then re-execute the query. This, however, would be a killer from a scalability perspective.

  • JDeveloper 10g, ADF Faces & BC: setVar method on CoreTable is not working

    Hi all,
    I am in the process of creating a custom tag library for our organization. I seem to be having problems with the setVar method on the CoreTable component. I created a simple reproducible example using the scott/tiger schema. Within my tabletest.jsp, I have a af:table which was created via dragging from the datacontrol pallet. Next, I add my custom tag and set the same value attribute. When I run the page, #{row.Deptno} does not evaluate to anything! However, I know that the value is set properly due to the same number of rows appearing within my custom table tag.
    Suggestions are appreciated.

  • How do I create multiple types of child nodes in ADF  Faces Tree Component

    Hi,
    I am trying to construct a tree using ADF Faces. The tree I am trying to develop should look something like:
    - Departments
    + Dept 10
    + Dept 20
    + Dept 30
    + Dept 40
    - Employees
    + SCOTT
    +ALLEN
    + BLAKE
    The nodes shown at the top level should serve as labels, indicating the various types of nodes available.
    I have created the top level RootLabelsViewObj, with a SQL clause:
    select rn, node_label
    from (
    select 1 rn
    , 'Employees' node_label
    from dual
    union all
    select 2 rn
    , 'Departments' node_label
    from dual
    union all
    select 3 rn
    , 'Bonusplans' node_label
    from dual
    I have created ViewLinks between the RootLabelsViewObj and the DeptView and EmpView respectively (created on top of DEPT and EMP table in SCOTT schema), based on the LABEL attribute in the RootLabelsViewObj and with ViewLink SQL specified like:
    :Bind_NodeLabel = 'Departments' for the link with DeptView and :Bind_NodeLabel = 'Employees' for the link with EmpView.
    In the ADF BC Application Module Tester, I get exactly what I want.
    However, when I create a JSF JSPX page and drag the RootLabelsViewObj from the Data Control Panel to the page as ADF Tree, I run into a little issue: it seems like I cannot create a second Branch Accessor rule for the RootLabelsViewObj1: I have created a first Branch Accessor Rule referring to DeptView and now try to create a second one for EmpView, to allow Employees to be displayed under the root label "Employees" - but I cannot.
    The PageDefinition looks like:
    <tree id="RootLabelsViewObj1" IterBinding="RootLabelsViewObj1Iterator">
    <AttrNames>
    <Item Value="Rn"/>
    <Item Value="NodeLabel"/>
    </AttrNames>
    <nodeDefinition DefName="model.RootLabelsViewObj"
    id="RootLabelsViewObjNode">
    <AttrNames>
    <Item Value="NodeLabel"/>
    </AttrNames>
    <Accessors>
    <Item Value="DeptView"/>
    </Accessors>
    </nodeDefinition>
    <nodeDefinition DefName="model.EmpView" id="EmpViewNode">
    <AttrNames>
    <Item Value="Ename"/>
    </AttrNames>
    </nodeDefinition>
    <nodeDefinition DefName="model.DeptView" id="DeptViewNode">
    <AttrNames>
    <Item Value="Deptno"/>
    </AttrNames>
    </nodeDefinition>
    </tree>
    Does anyone know:
    - whether it is possible (intended) to have more than one branch accessor per node (i.e. more than one type of child under a node in the tree)
    - if so, how this can be achieved?
    Right now it looks like I am limited to each node in the tree having only one type of child node.
    Please tell me I am wrong.
    best regards,
    Lucas

    Give this a shot mate
    event.getNativeEventTarget();That will allow you to access the DOM object directly
    Id can be retrieved via
    event.getNativeEventTarget().id;

  • Dynamically reordering columns in ADF Faces Table

    The Rich UI components (see ADF Faces Rich Client Components - Marrying JSF and AJAX together) that the ADF Faces library will contain with the JDeveloper 11g release - and hopefully before that moment - will allow end-users to do all sorts of manipulations with Tables. They will be able to resize columns an drag & drop columns to change the order - much like you can do in Spreadsheet applications like Excel. However, those components are not yet available to us. Yesterday my customer asked me if he could have offer the option to re-order columns in a table to his end users. That means that in any table component, the user can decide which column should be displayed first, which one second and which one last. It happened to be the same customer who was after the feature to show/hide columns at run-time, a challenge easily resolved in a previous article: Having the end-user hide and display columns in a JSF Table Component (http://technology.amis.nl/blog/?p=1331).
    I have written an article that shows how we can implement this feature: have the end-user specify the order of the columns in the table. I have used ADF Faces for this demonstration, but any JSF implementation will do. See: http://technology.amis.nl/blog/?p=1334 for the article.

    Well issue is that
    I have a list of values that can be chnaged any time during application execution sya its list of Fav Fruits..
    and in an other page i need a data table having these fruits as coulmns and their details as rows...
    how to achieve this..
    we can not guess the number of columns before time.. so can make the estimate and hide them.

  • Validation messages in JSF (when not using ADF faces)

    I've spent some time with JDeveloper 11 and would like to use it on an upcoming project. I have to target IE 6, so I won't be able to take advantage of ADF Faces. Instead I'd like to use the ADF Business Components with a standard JSF interface so it can be used by people still running IE 6.
    I've created a Business Component from a database table and can bind a JSF HTML Creation Form by dragging the appropriate view from the AppModule in the Data Controls pane. However, when I attempt to submit the page without all the fields being valid I get the following validation error message:
    j_id__ctru2:j_id__ctru6: Validation Error: Value is required. j_id__ctru2:j_id__ctru6: Validation Error: Value is required.
    I've tried making this more descriptive, but editing the error message in the Validation Rules section of the Business Component has no effect. What's the best way to convey a meaningful validation message to the user when not using ADF Faces?
    Also - I'm still very new to JDeveloper. Since I won't be able to rely on my users having Internet Explorer 7, would you recommend I stay with JDeveloper 10? The examples and documentation I've seen so far for JDeveloper 11 appear heavily biased towards using ADF Faces so I'm starting to wonder how much support is there for using plain old JSF.
    Thanks for your time!

    Hi,
    if you are completely new to this then I suggest to use JDeveloper 10.1.3 and ADF Faces in there. Its good to use with IE6 as well. Currently we do have more tutorials available for this release than for 11, which for this reason is a better choice for someone new to this

  • ADF Faces - ConvertNumber, aligning in table column

    Is there a way in ADF Faces to display a table with a column of currency figures, with possible trailing sign for negatives, aligned on the decimal point? With a total at the bottom? These seem like such elementary requirements, but I can find no reference to them in the documentation. ConvertNumber javadocs mentions a pattern property, but no details of what constitutes a pattern.
    Any help gratefully received.

    Hi,
    drag and drop the ConvertNumber component and double click on it in the StructureWindow of the page (strl+shift+s). This brings up a dialog that provides help when moving the mouse over the labels
    As a pattern try e.g. 0000.00
    The currency can be specified in the last field as the type. The symol can be expressed as a character $ or in ISO format USD
    There is no native component to compute the total, but since the table shows the values in page ranges, you can add a output field and compute this information in a backing bean
