  • Drawing API How to resize the box

    Hi Just wondering is any one knows any examples or code to resize the box or any shape with specific points, drawn dynamically?
    Looking for something like www.kitchenplanneronline.com
    Thanks,

    You just redraw the shape as needed. It should be fast enough to look as though you're scaling, stretching it, but you're really just drawing it over and over according to your handle positions.

  • Cannot resize text boxes or shapes

    I have done something, somehow and can't figure it out. When I draw a text box or a shape I am unable to resize with my marquis tool. I have to use the transform tool or the group marquis to grab individual points. I was able to before but must have hit a quick key by accident and can't figure out what I have done. Any help would be appreciated!

    Hi Nicole,
    Try View > Show Bounding Box.
    You probably mistakenly hit the shortcut key to turn it off at some point.
    And just for future reference, they are Selection tools in Illustrator, not Marquis tools. Someone may be confused by your terminology and it'll help to use the proper names.
    Hope that helps.

  • Cannot edit text in Drawing Markup Text Box

    I cannot edit text in Drawing Markup Text Box after saving and closing the pdf file and then reopening it.  I go to add additional text in the Text Box, and nothing happens.

  • Dynamic Text Boxes / Resizing text boxes

    I have a site with a dynamic text box that I have initialized
    (I'm not sure that that is the correct term) at the beginning with:
    myText = new LoadVars();
    myText.onLoad = function()
    { textBox_txt.htmlText = this.content;
    myText.load("text/bio.txt");
    stop();
    Then I have just used a text box throughout with the same
    instance name, although sometimes I have it on a new keyframe. I
    assumed I could just keep loading text into it on different frames
    with:
    stop();
    myText.load("text/performances.txt");
    This appears to be working, except that sometimes it seems to
    be confused and the text box on a certain frame has the wrong text
    in it. Do I have to initialize one for each frame in order for them
    to display the right code? What could be causing it to load another
    text file if it's frame action is telling it to load something
    else? It seems unnecessary to have to re-initialize it for a new
    text box instance in every new frame, but is that the way it has to
    be done?
    Also, I'm not clear on resizing text boxes. It seems like if
    I use the width and height numbers to resize this text box on
    different pages then it changes the size of the text inside, and
    the scroll bar (the UIScrollbar) is a little squishy looking
    sometimes. How does this work?
    Thanks for any help.

    You will find it much better to create a new LoadVars object
    for each of the frames, just call them myText1 myText2 etc.
    The name of the text box instance in this case is irrelevant
    but best practice would be to give them individual names.
    As for the stretching effect use setSize() for UI
    components.

  • Can't change/resize any boxes in Pages '09

    I am a new user to Pages and I used a template with about 8 pages. I've modified that template quite a bit, but suddenly when I try to change any text or image box size, it won't allow me to do so. I can change text, insert new photos, etc, but I can't resize any boxes. I was dragging the arrows previously to resize the boxes. Now the arrows show up but when I drag them the box doesn't respond at all. It seems like I've locked down the document somehow but I can't figure it out. Any ideas?

    Hi ENoel
    Welcome to the forum.
    If they are locked they have little grey crosses on the corner.
    +Menu > Arrange > Unlock+
    If you have moved them to Master/Background Objects they have blue boxes on the corners.
    +Menu > Arrange > Make Master/Background Objects Selectable+
    If you have grouped them
    +Menu > Arrange > Ungroup+
    You may have done a combination of the above.
    Also you may have covered them with another object.
    Peter
    btw A better description helps, such as which template etc.

  • Drawing a Selection Box.

    Hello forum,
    Is there an easy way of drawing a selection box or do I have to draw it myself? I have been trying to do it myself but I'm having trouble erasing the previous boxes. All I'm doing is drawing a rectangle, how do I undraw it when the user moves the mouse?
    Selection Box = The user presses the selection tool. When the mouse button is pressed, I start drawing the selection box. As the user moves the mouse, the box gets bigger and smaller.

    found it....what you want to do is use setXORMode.
    public DrawSelectionBox(Rectangle RVRect)
    g2.setXORMode(Color.white);
    g.drawRect(RVRect.x,RVRect.y,RVRect.width,RVRect.height);
    }call this method to draw and erase the rectangle. you can change the color...using white gives you a black box.

  • Blur an image - it just draws a black box!!

    Hi,
    I'm trying to write a method to blur an image and draw it on a panel. It just draws a black box (at least its the right width and height though!)
    I'm not too familar with Graphics 2D so I've no idea what the problem is - I've looked at several examples and as far as I can see my code is the same..
    This is the main class:
    public void blur()
          currentImage = images[lsClips.getSelectedIndex()];
          int height=currentImage.getHeight(this);   //make new buffered image same width, height as original image
          int width=currentImage.getWidth(this);
          System.out.println("the width is"+width);
                                                       //convert original image to a buffered image
          BufferedImage srcBuffImg= new BufferedImage(width,height, BufferedImage.TYPE_INT_RGB);
          Graphics2D big = srcBuffImg.createGraphics();
          big.drawImage(srcBuffImg,0,0,processedImagePanel);
          processedImagePanel.setImage(srcBuffImg);
          processedImagePanel.repaint();
          processedImagePanel.revalidate();
    }processedImagePanel is a customised JPanel class that I created to display the image on. I think that the setImage() method works propperly - the buffered image is not null when I checked it in this method. This is the setImage() and paintComponent() methods of that class.
    public class ImagePanel extends JPanel
    private BufferedImage buffImg;
    float[] elements = { .1111f,.1111f, .1111f,
                          .1111f,.1111f, .1111f,
                          .1111f,.1111f, .1111f,};
      public void setImage(BufferedImage img)
        processing = true;
        this.buffImg = img;
        this.repaint();
        this.revalidate();
      protected void paintComponent(Graphics g)
        super.paintComponent(g); //paint background
        if(buffImg!=null )   //draws blurrred image
          System.out.println("DRAW Buffered img");
          Graphics2D g2 = (Graphics2D) g;
          int w = getSize().width;
          int h = getSize().height;
          int bw = buffImg.getWidth(this);
          int bh = buffImg.getHeight(this);
                        //create a buffered image for the processed image
         BufferedImage destBuffImg = new BufferedImage(bw,bh,BufferedImage.TYPE_INT_RGB);
         Kernel kernel = new Kernel(3,3,elements);
         ConvolveOp cop = new ConvolveOp(kernel,ConvolveOp.EDGE_NO_OP,null);
         cop.filter(buffImg,destBuffImg);
         g2.drawImage(buffImg,cop, 10,10);
    }I would be very grateful if anyone could give me any suggestions..

    BufferedImage srcBuffImg = new BufferedImage(width,height, BufferedImage.TYPE_INT_RGB);
    Graphics2D big = srcBuffImg.createGraphics();
    big.drawImage(srcBuffImg,0,0,processedImagePanel);
    processedImagePanel.setImage(srcBuffImg);
    processedImagePanel.repaint();
    processedImagePanel.revalidate();I think the bug is here: why do you paint the (empty) buffered image in itself? I guess, you wanted to paint the currentImage to the bufferedImage.

  • Drawing tables without boxes and lines in XI

    Post Author: geeeeee
    CA Forum: Crystal Reports
    Hi I'm trying to figure a way to draw tables in XI (it seems like a pretty simple task) but I can't find how to draw a table without hand drawing lines and boxes. Any ideas? Thanks

    Hi,
    Unfortunatelly drawing a frame for table is not so straightforward. To draw a frame around the columns and table itself you need to create a window (on top of window where you display your table) placing it at column position and checking Lines width in Output Options tab for this window. This will produce a fake column frame. See [this example|http://img294.imageshack.us/my.php?image=tableq.png].
    For rows you could do similar: check what is the heihgt of row in the table and draw respective windows as rows. This one, however will look a bit strange, but for columns it looks and works fine.

  • Resizing a box with AS

    I have a box graphic made in Flash on the screen. The size of
    the box is 100 pxls x 150 pxls.
    I also have 3 buttons on the screen. When the first button is
    pressed the box will resize to
    200 pxl x 300 pxls. When the second box is pressed it will
    resize to 50 pxls x 75 pxls and when
    the third button is pressed the box will resize to 175 pxls x
    275 pxls. I would like to do this via AS
    and not have to animate the box in a MC. I would think that
    you would need to determine the size
    of the box before it resizes, becasue there is no way of
    knowing if the 1st, 2nd or 3rd button had
    been pressed previously.
    I have no idea where to begin with this.....Can anyone point
    me in the right direction?
    Thanks in advance!

    If you're absolutely starting out, this can seem a bit
    complicated.
    > I have no idea where to begin with this.....Can anyone
    > point me in the right direction?
    I'll give it a shot. Your best bet, in my opinion, is to get
    a firm
    understanding of what objects are, and how they're used in
    ActionScript.
    Certain things (most things!) are accessible via ActionScript
    and certain
    things aren't. Graphic symbols are not accessible in
    ActionScript 1.0 or
    2.0, so you'll have to make your box a movie clip. Once you
    do that --
    bingo! -- you've got a world of functionality at your
    disposal. Why? Well,
    movie clip symbols are objects, which means you can
    manipulate them
    programmatically. Objects are defined by classes, and the
    ActionScript 2.0
    Language Reference is closely structured around these
    classes, so you won't
    even have to look far.
    If you're dealing with a movie clip, look up the MovieClip
    class in the
    ActionScript 2.0 Lanuage Reference. You'll find three
    categories:
    properties, methods, and events. Properties are the
    characteristics an
    object has, such as width and height; methods are the things
    an object can
    do, such as go to a frame and play; and events are things an
    object can
    react to, such as a mouse click. Not all objects have
    features in all three
    categories, but what they *do* have will be spelled out in
    the relevant
    summary in each class file.
    To resize a movie clip, you can, for example, set its _width
    and _height
    properties to whatever pixel size you like. How? You give
    your movie clip
    an instance name -- it is, after all, an instance of the
    MovieClip class --
    and then simply call it by name and tell it what to do.
    Because you're
    dealing with an instance, you specify the instance's name ...
    myClip
    ... and reference the desired class property ...
    myClip._width = 500;
    myClip._height = 300;
    etc.
    Doing so will immediately update the properties of your
    instance. If
    you want to resize your clip over time, you'll have to
    animate the property
    assignments. Animation, in this context, is simply change
    over time.
    You'll need a looping mechanism of some kind. Look to your
    MovieClip
    class entry, and you'll see an onEnterFrame event in the
    Events summary.
    This event is raised every time the movie clip enters a
    frame, which is
    roughly the rate of the movie's framerate (i.e., 12 times a
    second, by
    default).
    So you can assign a function to the event of your instance
    myClip.onEnterFrame = function() {
    this._width++;
    ... which will increment the width of this clip by 1 twelve
    times a second.
    In this case, the word "this" refers to the instance named
    myClip, because
    "this" always points to the timeline or object it's in.
    Because it's scoped
    to the function assigned to the onEnterFrame event of myClip,
    it refers to
    myClip. The ++ operator is listed in the Language Reference
    under
    Operators. There are plenty of 'em.
    For fun, throw down a quick example in a new FLA and update
    a movie
    clip's _x property.
    These are the absolute basics, but it should at least get
    you started.
    Look through the "Learning ActionScript 2.0 in Flash" book in
    the
    documentation to learn about variables and other important
    terms you'll
    need.
    You may also get something out of this link, here, which
    explains
    objects in greater detail, illustrates how to get the most
    out of the
    ActionScript Language Referece, and explains how to debug
    your code.

  • Drawing API How to resize the box through

    Hi There, Just wana know if I have created a box or L shape box dynamically, how it can be resized through specific points.
    I have a project something like www.kitchenplanneronline.com and when you select a Layout section it gives you points to modify the size of the box.

  • Help on resizing text boxes and general image techniques

    Using CS2.
    I have two basic questions.  One has to do with getting the best vector images (with text) that I can for placement in InDesign documents.  The other has to do with the specifics of working with text boxes in FW.
    The easiest way for me to produce vector images has been by using PowerPoint.  I do all the graphics work and then save it as a gif.  I do cropping in a graphics tool (Irfanview, PS) and then insert or place the image.  As long as there is no resizing, things work well.  I'm not sure how things like DPI are controlled using this technique but I'm assuming that also would be done with the graphics tool.  I know Irfanview allows for the dpi to be specified during resizing.
    The problem starts to show up when the gif object is resized.  Things get distorted and I lose the crispness of the image contents.  I'm certainly not an expert on graphics however I've been thinking I either need to 1) make the actual size of graphics in PP the size of the final placed image so there is no resizing (just some cropping) or 2) to work in a tool like FW where (I'm assuming) there are better capabilities to resize vector graphics.  My sense (again, not an expert) is that the process I'm using converts to vector graphics in PP to a bitmap image in the gif and that resizing doesn't work as well for bitmaps as for vector objects.  Do I have that right?
    Moving on to question 2:
    Can text boxes be resized in FW without distorting the text?  Can their size be seen when originally drasing them?  Perhaps spoiled by PowerPoint, I like to set the width of vector objects (e.g. rectangle) and the width of the text that will fill it to the same size.  (I know PP has the ability to put borders on text boxes but when working in FW I need to work with 2 objects, the rectangle and the text box).  Say I have a rectangle that is 81px wide.  Can I set a text box to 81px wide without distorting the text?
    I tend to want to control actual object sizes so I can get good spacial alignment.  For example, I tend to set the width of a text object to an odd number of px so that any line coming out of the text object aligns well with the text.  I must admit that it may be time for me to use a different technique in FW (e.g. more alignment of multiple objects vs. knowing dimensions and seting locations).  Does my approach need improvement?
    Thanks for any advice
    Tom

    As I wean off of PP I've started looking at FW and Illustrator (I have both).  I've done a logo or two in FW and have used it to build some simple web graphics (e.g. buttons, menus).  It can, as I recall, be a little more complex than what I need in this case.
    Since PP is not a graphics program, its drawing capabilities are very limited. As a consequence, any graphics application will have many more features than you're used to seeing and more than you need for any one project.
    I did a little experimenting with Illustrator and my first impression is that it will work better for me for this work.  It seems a little more intuitive.
    Is a general guideline to use FW for web-destined graphics and Illustrator for what I used to do in PP?
    Your suggested guideline is good. Also, note that if you make a logo or vector graphic in Illustrator (saving as .ai format), you can import that into Fireworks and work with it as a vector object there. FW can import and use, just not create, .ai objectes and files.
    FW has some vector tools, they are tucked away under Window > Others > Path. Since FW is intended for producing Web graphics, it is a hybrid application, capable of both vector and photo/image editing. Given that it has some of both, it necessarily doesn't have everything that Illustrator has nor everything that Photoshop has. It has most the features of both of those programs, as long as the feature is useful for a Web graphics designer. For pure photo editing Photoshop has the edge; for pure illustration, Illustrator has the edge. Both Photoshop and Illustrator support color profiles and other features important for print that Fireworks does not. All are good programs, but there are reasons to prefer one over the other depending on what kind of graphics you need to create or work with and what your intended use of the work is. (But any of them will be superior to PowerPoint! )
    I'm not sure I can unravel the mystery with the text box resizing.  I suspect theres an option selected.  Knowing it can be done is enough for me to do some homework.
    Maybe...don't think of text boxes at all. You have text objects. The object has a bounding box that is determined by the underlying definition of the font, but it isn't in a text box. (Sometimes swooshs will extend beyond the defining box of a character in the font, but that is another issue). The bounding box for the text object is similar to the bounding box of a circle or a star or an irregular shape. There's a reference box for the dimensions, but the text is not inside some other independent container.
    To resize, select the text object and change the font size either using the Properties palette or using the scale tool to drag on a corner of the scaling outline (different from the bounding box, and I don't know why, sorry).
    I think that,with Illustrator, you can define text boxes (or other shapes) and fill them with text. *searches* Ah.. Like these: http://school.tatoland.com/illustrator/aitype.html
    cheers!

  • Is this a bug? Resizing content box problems with opacity.

    I was wondering if this is a bug? I've been trying to get a box set behind a text box to resize depending on the amount of content that's within a textbox above it. It works fine when the box underneath the text box is set to 100% opacity. However when I adjust the box below to less than 100% opacity the box stops resizing with the text box. My questions are is this a bug or intended and if it is a bug is there a work-around or will it be fixed soon?

    Hello,
    Thank you for bringing this up. We were able to reproduce the issue and it has been logged as a Bug.
    It seems to be an issue when opacity is reduced from the toolbar at the top.
    However, as a workaround, I would like to suggest you to use the opacity option under the Fill Panel.
    For this you need to select the rectangle in the background and then click on Fill Panel which comes up on the right hand side. And you can change the value of opacity from there.
    Please have a look at the screenshot below which might help :
    When the value of opacity is changed from this Fill Panel, the property of rectangle to resize with text is kept.
    We have logged a bug for the issue and hopefully it will be fixed in future releases of Adobe Muse.
    Apologies for the inconvenience.
    Regards,
    Sachin

  • Resizing text boxes in Pages 5.2

    Looking for some pretty simple help here:
    At this point I merely want to resize a text box and the edges of the box refuses to be active for me to pull it to change the shape!    Why is this so hard now?
    (Below is my mini gripe session about Page 5.2)
    I'm using Pages 5.2 and the text boxes are suddenly very difficult to manage and it is very frustrating.  When working with the boxes they are covered with too much graphics with the top and side bars, and when using multi boxes on one pages the control graphics make a big visual tangle.  Adding rows, columns, deleting the same, even moving a box on the page is a struggle now because you have to find the little cross icon that appears on only one little place in the corner when before you could just drag the box from anywhere within the box!  Very unpleasant changes......

    Okay:  I see part of the problem:  I'm confusing tables with text boxes.  I'd rather work with text boxes.  Is there a way for a text box to have a solid, visible outline?  That would make it much easier!
