Dreamweaver and Database Integration - XML. Windows 7

Hi
Looking to see where the bounds of where Dreamweaver can assist me.
I am looking to use Dreamweaver to develop a site that will need to manage the import of an xml feed from an external site to a database and then split some of the data to xslt for display and some of the other to R studio to calculate and create statistical analysis to be brought back to the website for display as calculate and graphical.
Can Dreamweaver help much with handling data and queries or is there another adobe program that will assist with that as well?
Most of the sites I create will be data intensive and while I can code websites I was looking to speed that section up to allow more time for data analysis.

When you say Windows 7, do you mean Windows Server 2008 R2? Or are you talking about your development computer OS?
Dreamweaver is essentially an HTML editor that has website management features. The project you describe requires back-end programming with a language like PHP, RUBY or ASP.NET.
You don't mention which kind of server you are working with (Microsoft or LINUX) or what programming language you intend to work with.
You can write PHP, javascript and ASP code in the Dreamweaver code editor, and DW will do some pretty good syntax checking, but DW is not a real IDE (integrated development environment) for any language except HTML. Also, although you can edit XML in Dreamweaver, there are other environments that work with XML better.
So the short answer to your question is: yes, Dreamweaver could probably be used as your only (or primary) environment for building such a website, but that doesn't necessarily mean it's the best choice. But since you have not given us info about your server environment and programming language of choice, this is about all we can say.

Recreate SAP and database services in Windows

Hi!
I'm running my sandbox in a wmware enviroment and yesterday the C: partion got corrupted and I managed to "save" the other drives where the SAP and database are installed.
Is there any way to recreate the SAP and database services in another Windows installation? (manually or automatically)
That way I don't need to reinstall the whole system....and no there is no backup or snapshot since the system is not complete.
But if I get the database to start I should be able to do a backup and then do a new installation and import the backup!?

What is the database platform?
If it is SQL Server try attaching the data & log files to another instance SQL instance at the same release & patch level, if that works the database is intact so recovery should be possible.
From there rebuild your vmware box and treat the SAP install as though you are doing a 'system copy' so -
-Install & patch Win2003
-Install & patch SQL Server
-Install a 'blank' SAP Central Instance & update kernel
-Attach SQL database
-Use the SAP's SQL Migration tools to prepare DB & instance
-cross fingers & startsap
-make a backup

Dreamweaver and API Integration

Will Dreamweaver ever see some integration with the BC API?

See my other post regarding PHP integration. I've posted a simple implementation of the PHP Soap client. You can edit that in Dreamweaver if you wish, but DW is just an editor for PHP files. You can use any editor you wish, but you still have to host your code on a machine with a web server. If you're on Mac you will have Apache on it alread, which you can enable through System Preferences > Sharing > Web Sharing. You'll have to install it on Windows. For development purposes (not production) you can also use some of the small Python servers which can run in your terminal on a port you specify and can be easily restarted.

OID and Database Integration

Hi gurus.
Can I synchronize data from OID with a specific table in Oracle Database?
In my company I have a application in pl/sql that store users information in a Oracle database.
Now I would like to integrate my Oracle Portal information with the pl/sql application. In this two application (Portal and pl/sql application) the same user have two differents login.
I would like to use Oracle IDM to do this.
Somebody can help me with this question?

Dreamweaver and Database management

Now that I am an expert on static web pages, I am starting to learn how to create dynamic web pages.
I have created the XAMPP environment on my PC and my localhost (with PHP and SQL servers) is running well.
What I need to do is to create a new database for my site. I know that Dreamweaver has special panels for Database related stuff,
but I am not able to find how I can define my record layout and create the database. I found a related tutorial on Dreamweaver on dynamic pages, but the tutorial imports its database, it does not create a new one, (Also if anyone knows of related tutorials it would be very helpful).

The first thing you need to do is create your database - To do this is log into your phpMyAdmin site through your browser, (how-to is described in your XAMPP documentation), and from there create your new database, giving it the name required from the tutorial (oddly enough you do this where it says create new database).
As this is your first dynamic site from this point on, I would recommend importing the database tables from the tutorial and following that.
Once you have more experience you could try creating your own database and tables etc. an excellent program for helping with this is the, 'MySQL Workbench',
available from the MySQL website where you will also find a few tutorials on its use.

I will say, however, that DW is not a database creation or management app. For that you would need something like Navicat or PHPMyAdmin.

2008 64 not certified yet.
the certification matrix within MOS does not indicate 2008 R2 so you might be good for 32 bit.

Dreamweaver and Databases

Do I have to create a database-driven site if I only want one of the pages in my site to be connected to a database for collecting user input?
I've been through the DWCS3 classes through NHLC here in MI, and they only covered the scenario of a database driven site.
My site has been up and running for over a year, and this is a "nice feature" request that my boss would like to see added now.
Will it make a difference if it is only a company intranet site, and not a site on the www?
I'm using a MSAccess 2003 database to interface with my DWCS3.
If this issue has already been addressed somewhere else, please direct me. I've done a search through the forums, and did not see anything.

You want to collect information from visitors and save that information into a database? That's not exactly what I would call a data-driven site, but it does require that you understand a) server scripting, and b) how to build/maintain a database.

Without knowing your version, I just picked 11.2, so you made need to look for that chapter in the documentation for your version to find applicable information.

I run Dev 6i on Windows 2008 R2 64-bit,the forms are working fine after connection to the database but the reports continue to request for username, password and database connection string every time i try to open a report.

I receive REP-0501: Unable to connect to specified database. I run developer 6i application on windows 2008 r2. I have applied the nn60.dll and nnb60.dll files to the \BIN directory. The forms are working fine. The reports will only display after the correct user id (username, password and database connection string) is supplied. This is happening to all attempts to open already complied form. Pls, help.

If you are connecting to an Oracle 11g database, remember that by default the passwords are case sensitive. To disable that, run
ALTER SYSTEM SET SEC_CASE_SENSITIVE_LOGON = FALSE;

Dreamweaver and Windows Vista Problem

Hello,
I ran into a problem with my Dreamweaver - 8 application and
cannot find a fix. I open up the Dreamweaver application, 2-3
seconds later, I get the following error message, “A problem
caused the program to stop working correctly, windows will close
the program and notify you if a solution is available.” I am
using Windows Vista and believe the problem is associated with the
Vista operating system. I am puzzled by the fact that I have been
using Dreamweaver with Vista and have had no problems up until now.
I uninstalled & reinstalled Dreamweaver to no avail. I
restored my computer to an earlier date, and updated Dreamweaver,
and still have the same problem.
Any help to resolve this problem would be greatly
appreciated.

Hello Again,
I finally fixed the problem. I went into my network settings
and reset my network address. This did the trick, I went back and
opened up Dreamweaver without any problem.

I use CS3 Suite. It is a big trouble for me in working on
real pages. Integration is broken in somewhere else and after that
point it becomes impossible to work on Fireworks through
Dreamweaver.
I've made test to show this trouble and I narrowed the
problem to the pictures as shown in the figures below,
1) In figure one I am creating a completely new Fireworks
file as arrow.png with two frames and one slice in it. After I am
saving it as .png I am exporting it as .html with images in /images
subfolder.
2) After saving and closing the file in Fireworks, in figure
two, I am opening the html in Dreamweaver and changing the page
properties by writing zeros to page margins and by changing the
default font.
-----I guess in this point something happens which breaks the
integration between FW and DW--------because;
3) In figure three I am opening the .png through Dreamweaver
(by "Edit") and changes the place and size of the slice a little
bit
4) When I press Done in Fireworks I see this picture in
figure four in Dreamweaver which shows integration between FW and
DW about table structure is broken. (In this point if I add any
behaviur to the slice DW doesn't recognize it, or any other change
in FW can not be recognized by DW)
5) In order to show this broken integration in table
sturucture, I am putting a new slice to png when Editing from DW in
FW.
6) When I click on Done in DW I see this picture on the
figure six. Beacuse FW doesn't have any effect on html's table
structure code.

bug; just a
limitation of Roundtrip editing.
You can't add or change slices without re-exporting the html
from
Fireworks. Roundtrip is for image editing, not for altering
the table
structure. If I edit, and re-export, my table remains intact.
If you want to edit the slices and resulting html, open the
PNG file
independently of Dreamweaver, change your slices and images
and then
choose File > Update HTML (this option is not available
when in
Roundtrip mode). FW will ask you to locate the html file.
When located,
you will have the options of
Replace Images and Their HTML - replaces the previous
Fireworks HTML.
Update Images Only - overwrites only the images.
As an aside, the rigid table created by FW is rarely
desirable for a
production web site.

Help needed to converstae xml with java and database

I want to make use of xml to read soem data from database and then use that material in java to display or manipulate that data and again feed back it into database through xml.

why using XML? how about JDBC?
