Dreamweaver CC very slow...

I just purchased the CC suite, and Dreamweaver, and only Dreamweaver is awefully slow... i have OS X 10.9.4 - 16 Go Ram - 2,6 Ghz Intel Core i7? Each time i click, either in editor mode nor wisiwig, i have the little rainbow icon and a 3 seconds lag... I

This kind of lag can be caused by a number of things.
If it happens at all times in all files, turn off any real time back up system, especially one that comes with an external hard drive, that you have running. You "may" need to uninstall it if you have one. I had one running a while back and it would make DW lag even while turned off due to one of its "special features" where it would constantly scan to detect new files so it would update those first when turned back on.
If it only does it on certain files, check the code of those files for external links to third party websites, especially protocol relative links (starting with a // rather than http). Sometimes server/network issues with third party sites can slow things down. DW also has problems with protocol relative links. Change any // link to a http:// version during development and change it back on uploading the site, if you need the // link. If you don't have https pages on your site, you can permanently change a // link to http:// without issue.
If neither one of the above fit your situation, could you give us a little more info?

  • Mac Dreamweaver CS6 very slow to open files

    Hi
My Mac Dreamweaver CS6 opens html files in about 1-2 minutes! It is very very slow. It all works when the file is open but it is the actual opening that is slow.
I have turned off external files but no change.
    Any ideas??
    Thanks
    Mac Pro
    Processor  2 x 2.8 GHz Quad-Core Intel Xeon
    Memory  4 GB 800 MHz DDR2 FB-DIMM
Graphics  ATI Radeon HD 2600 XT 256 MB
    Software  Mac OS X Lion 10.7.4 (11E53)

I've been strugling with this issue for  a long time.
I've found that Dreamweaver takes  about 2 minutes to open  CSS files with @import url for  font face.
    for example:
    @import url(http://fonts.googleapis.com/css?family=Oswald:400,300);
i've never had problem with  big files but if i place this line into my 20k css file,  it takes for ever to load.
if i  remove it, it opens  fast  as usual.
Please don't tell me  that it could be a  Google problem  thatis loading slow  because it's not.
the font file isnt  big enough either.
Of course i have deativated the "load things from external urls" setting.
any ideas on how could this be  fixed withoput changing my work style ?

  • Mac Dreamweaver CS3 Very Slow

Running Dreamweaver CS3 on an iMac 2.4 ghz intel core 2 duo
    with 4 gb of RAM.
It just seems to run very slow. Does not matter if other
applications are opened or not. Seems to be just with Dreamweaver
and not other CS3 products. Copying and pasting a line of text
might take several seconds. Any advice appreciated.

I have the entire cs3 suite running on intel mac towers,
powerpc mac towers, iMacs, and mac laptops... all work perfect and
are very fast. If you are waiting 30 seconds to type something,
there is something wrong with your individual setup.
I would recommend disabling all of the dreamweaver extensions
to determine if a poorly written extension is causing an issue. And
yes, even one bad extension can cause dreamweaver to run like a dog
    on mac or pc.
Second, I would make sure you are not using a remote server
location as a testing server, or using a remote location to work on
files, which will cause dreamweaver to communicate with the server
every time you attempt to do something and drastically slow
    performance... on mac or pc.
No resolution.... remove the entire suite / qpplication from
your computer using the adobe installer software, restart computer.
Using disk utility, do a drive check to ensure you have no
catalogue issue, then repair permissions as well. Reinstall
software. once complete, run disk utility again. Then check for
updates. If you install any updates, run disk utility again. This
is way overboard, but you are ensuring you have no potential issues
    for the next update.
no resolution.... then you need to run a hardware test to
ensure you don't have faulty RAM or other hardware. When restarting
your computer, hold down the D key on the keyboard. This should
launch the apple hardware check. You may also want to physically
remove and re seat your RAM to make sure everything is working
    correctly.
Bottomline, dreamweaver runs very well on OSX. If you're not
experiencing that, then you need to determine what is wrong on your
    computer, your settings, your installation.

  • Dreamweaver executes its self very slow

Dreamweaver executes very slow what to do?
when I unistal and reinstall my Antivirus and Firewall it
works well some hours and then executes its self slow..

I've been experiencing something similar. I had Dreamweaver 8
as part of the Studio 8 package. It was running pretty slow, until
I turned off the Adobe Cue function. That seemed to speed things
up. Now it is running slow again - taking forever to draw the
screen, update files, etc. Sometimes, when doing a sync, I have to
move the progress window around to get it to continue. Very odd.
It isn't a memory issue. I have 2.5 GB installed on with a
dual-core Intel processor. It may be the virus software, but I
can't turn that off (set by central IT). Also, it was working just
fine until a day or two ago.
    Anyone else experiencing something similar?

  • Dreamweaver not responding/ running very slow!!!

    Hi I'm running Dreamweaver on Windows 7 (CS6, version 12.0 Build 5808)
It's running very slow & not responding. It's getting impossible to get work done! I thought installing on a new machine would fix the problem but it persists.
    Please Help ASAP!!

Since it appears to be affecting multiple machines, I would check your code for errors here: http://validator.w3.org and repair anything that comes up. DW doesn't like code errors.
If your code is clean, something to check is the use of protocol relative links, usually for things like web fonts or scripts. Check your code for links that start with // and change them to the normal http version. If you don't have any https pages on your site, you can change those protocol relative links to http versions permanently.
If you have clean code and don't have protocol relative links, there could be a problem with an external script (like google analytics). Go through and comment out any external script with an html comment...
    <!-- your script here -->
If it speeds DW back to normal, un-comment the scripts one by one until it goes sideways again. You can then pull that script from the remote server and make a copy of it locally. Link to the local version and usually the problems disappear.

  • Dreamweaver CS6 and CC both very slow page rendering under Mavericks

Dreamweaver CS6 and CC both very slow page rendering under Mavericks compared to 10.8.5
    Any ideas?

One other thing I am seeing:
When I open any document (html, javascript) inside DWCC now, then close it without any changes, DW asks if I want to save changes.
I just tested this under 10.8.5 and there is no lag there, nor are documents mysteriously modified when opened.
Note: I have tested this both with and without other Apps or extensions running in Mavericks and 10.8.5

  • Dreamweaver CC opening files very slow iMac with Fusion drive

I am working on a small website based off on Bootstrap 3. Now that I am almost done with the project opening files take a few seconds to open them (in code view). I have tried the various fixes like resolveremoteurltoipaddress=FALSE but still the files load very slow. On my Windows Machine it loads very fast and that machine is 4 years old. The iMac I am using at work is the latest version with decked out specs and only Dreamweaver CC and Edge Code have very slow opening of files. Creating new documents inside Dreamweaver CC is fast. Is there a way to make Dreamweaver open files faster? How to make it load faster, open documents faster, especially in code view. My initial thought is maybe its because I am linking to a few JS library like TypeKit and jQuery but I have not experience these problems on my Windows PC. Any help would be appreciated.

  • Dreamweaver very slow when lose connection to intranet

When not connected or lose connection while intranet
    documents are open,
id still like to be able to work in dreamweaver yet it is so
slow like it is trying to find the intranet every second.
At least it wont give a popup for every open file like
Dreamweaver mx2004. but it still runs very slow, like switching to
another application and then switching back to Dreamweaver8, the
document open becomes active after 20seconds so have to wait.
Intuitively at least for me, it would be nice if it only
bothered you when u tried to save the document, a message would
popup saying ' Orig document path could not be found'. I would stop
whatever background process is running slowing down dreamweaver.
Anyway to turn off whatever process this is?

Hi Murray, the RAM comments were irrelevant, pointless. 32GB RAM vs 4GB RAM?  Sorry, I worked at Microsoft and as a systems integrataion consultant for a number of years.  32bit programmes don't access RAM the same as 64bit, but, having 32gb with a 64Bit OS means RAM usage for a 32bit programme is better managed. Programmes and data files are on seperate drives.  My data files kept are on 3 disk stripe sets.
The CSS files and the HTML file are on the same drive.  AS an example of performance for data read/writes, I also use Photoshop CS6 to edit images in excess of 2gb in size containg multiple smart object, and I dont experience this type perormance lag.
In this case, RAM is mainly irrlevent because the file are small, approx 200kb total combined size.  I mentioned RAM in my initial post because any time I've had problems with Adobe products before, I've always been asked how much RAM I have.
So, can we please drop RAM, and perhaps focus on the problem....
Dreamweaver, regardless of what background processes I have running, regardless of how much RAM I have, regardless of where the files are kept, has a significant performance hit when editing an HTML file with links to multiple CSS files.

  • Dreamweaver unusable, very, very slow

I am trying to work on a reasonable large html document. The file is ~585K. Dreamweaver is so slow with this document that it cannot be used. If I make a change in the code and then click on the design view window, it takes a numbe of minutes before the design view becomes active again. This is a good computer with pleanty of very fast memory, and there are gigabytes of available memory, so I don't know why this file would be so unworkable.
If I open the file in firefox, it opens immediately and there are no performance issues at all. If I make an edit in the code section, save it, and refresh the browser window, the change appears immediately, so I don't see why dreamweaver takes so long to render a page in design view when the page displays in a brower right away.
Is there anything I can do to improve this?
    Lowell

I guess they don't let you edit your posts here either? Now this thread is going to take forever to load because of that mess above. If there is such a thing as a moderator here, maybe they can delete that last post.
I will try again using the method you suggested.
This code actually donsn't look that bad in a browser. You can see that the formatting varies somewhat across the sections, and that is what I am working on at the moment. This is very basic table stuff, organized more or less like an  outline.

The example below shows two penicillin analogues.  The atom level

  • AIR 3.0 Application Built in HTML/Javascript VERY SLOW on Windows 7 and XP

    Hello AIR Team,
The commercial AIR application I'm developing for a client (using HTML/CSS/Javascript) is VERY SLOW on my Windows 7 (64 bit) and Windows XP machines running on the Adobe AIR 3.0 runtime. I notice the poor performance in all aspects of the application, but especially on mouse events (mouseover, mouseout, click).
However, it runs very well on my Mac OS X 10.6.8 test machine AND from within Dreamweaver CS5.5 on my Windows 7 machine.
Chris Campbell from Adobe posted in another topic on this forum that he has notified the Adobe Webkit Team about this issue, but I'm anxious to know WHEN the Adobe AIR Team will release an AIR update/patch to resolve these performance issues.
    Any ETA on the update/patch?
    ~Oscar

This performance issue is tracked in adobe bugbase: https://bugbase.adobe.com/index.cfm?event=bug&id=2958614
It is appreciated that anyone affected by this issue could leave vote notes about how the fix is important for you and your business.

  • FW CS3 very slow to open on Vista

FW CS3 opens sooooooooo slowly on Vista. I mean I'm talking
about 30 secs to a minute or more. (I have a P4 and 2 gig of ram) .
Being used to FW8 opening in a flash this is pretty dreary. Has
    anyone else experienced this?

That's probably a function of the machine. On Vista (Core 2
    Duo E6600 w/4GB
RAM), Fireworks launches in less than 5 seconds. Fireworks 8
    actually took a
    bit longer.
I think there are a lot of variables to how an application
    launches and
works from one system to another.

  • Illustrator CS3: Very Slow Open, Very Slow Save

    Hello all,
I just recently have been issues with Illustrator CS3. Up until about a few weeks ago, it had been running flawlessly. Now, whenever I try to open up any EPS or AI, Illustrator will literally take at least a minute to open it. This happens with a complex 2mb AI files, but also for a tiny simple files consisting of a 1" square on a blank artboard. No matter the file size, it will take around a minute to open it up.
    Opening a 44kb .eps: 75 seconds
    Opening a 210kb .ai file: 67 seconds
    Saving a 76kb .eps: 56 seconds
Export to grayscale PNG: 66 seconds
Export AI Layers to SWF Files: 2 seconds
    This is ridiculous.
Saving is the same issue. It takes a ridiculously long time to save even a blank document.
It's not my machine (2x2.66ghz Intel Mac with 5gb ram, OSX 10.5.6). Photoshop feels a little sluggish too, but not to this extent. InDesign, Flash, Dreamweaver, Acrobat all run perfectly. I even uninstalled all the CS3 products and reinstalled to find the same issues. And now that I've been given a time sensitive job, I need to get this program running quickly again.
I'm not sure what I can do to solve the problem, aside from trying to reinstall OSX and start fresh. Any and all help is appreciated! Thank you!

Well, I reinstalled Mac OS X before even trying those methods. It was less of a hassle than I thought it would be. Solved the problems with Illustrator. Everything is running fantastic.
But, I was just working in Photoshop, opening about ~20-30 small PNG's at a time to resize, grayscale, etc. I opened up about 60 at once to make things go quicker. They all opened up, with a little bit of lag. Now, if I even try to open up 10-15 PNG's at a time, they load very slow, like the problem I was having before with Illustrator...
Is there anyway to reset some memory settings? Or clear some cache? I believe this is what caused my issues with Illustrator before (opening too many files at once.)

  • DreamWeaver cc running slow and not responding on Win 7

    Hi Guys,
As of late my DreamWeaver has started not responding (eventually recovers) and is very slow to do anything. It has run fine in the past. The file I am running works fine on other PCs running the same edition of DW.
Have tried reinstalling DW and changing the antivirus permissions. Kind of stuck with what else to do.
    Thanks

Try clearing the program cache file...

...and see if that helps at all.

  • New iMac running very slow

Just bought my wife the new iMac (20" 2.4GHz). Connected her old G4 Mini in firewire mode. Transferred her applications and files. Everything is working but the computer is very slow. Much slower than my version 2 macbook. It surfs so slow and Safari has locked up several times. This is on her regular websites not something new. All her apps on the mini were the PowerPC variety and not universal binaries. Could this be an issue? I had Firefox that was optimized for the G4 processor on the mini. It worked on the iMac but was slow. I just installed the latest universal binary Firefox and it is faster but the hard drive is thrashing constantly. Now it only has 1 GB of RAM (I will upgrade) but still, I am only running 1 app... Was importing from a G4 a bad idea?
    Karl

    I ACTUALLY think so!
I have the same iMac you have and it's SUPER fast! and I also have just 1GB Ram... but I'll tell you what I did...
First, I went online and got *Universal drivers* for my *Scanner, Wacom pen tablet* etc... then I got the Universal versions of *CockTail, SuperDuper, HandBreak, Stuffit, Adium, Firefox*... time consuming I know but if they were AVAILABLE for Intel... it didn't seem to be a good idea to SAVE time... just an afternoon that maybe would have cost me a couple days trying to fix future compatibility issues...
After doing that, I installed ONLY three *PPC Apps*, the ones I really need: *Photoshop CS, Flash and Dreamweaver 8*... actually my website is all in Flash, I only use Dreamweaver as a FTP program to upload my files...
Both Flash and Photoshop will run under ROSETTA... even taking lots of RAM, they still run faster than in my old iMac G5 with 2GB Ram... *duo to the Intel processor*...
At least I know that ALL DRIVERS are the original Intel... the iMac is super fast.. I just moved from ATT&T (disgusting 300 KBPS) to ComCast reaching *5 MBPS* on both the *G4 mini* and the *2.4GHz Intel Core 2 Duo iMac*...
Such a great experience, the large clear screen... a fast machine and a great connection...
If I were you I'd spend a Sunday *re-installing Leopard* and looking for the *Intel version of some Apps*... you don't have to sit in front of the computer all day... you can load the installation DVD and open a beer and come back after a while and download Leopard updates (and open another beer...) cook and listen to a good music... do little by little one day!
If I have a major problem I always re-install the OS... I can't work on a sluggish machine! Better a day doing it than suffering for a LONNNNNNNNNG time!
    Cheers!
    : )
