Dreamweaver & Oracle

I run Oracle 9iAS with Oracle 8.1.7 database. I do all my web page and JSP development using Dreamweaver UltraDev 4 and Dreamweaver MX. I'm trying to create a JSP with an insert record form, using DW MX automated freatures. I can make a successful connection to the database, see my tables, etc. However, when I try to run the JSP from my test server, I get the following error:
JSP Error:
Request URI:/anosc/insert.jsp
Exception:
oracle.jsp.provider.JspCompileException:
Errors compiling:/Cots/oracle/9ias/Apache/Apache/htdocs/_pages/_anosc/_insert.java
Line # 287
Error
Method encodeRedirectURL(java.lang.String) not found in interface javax.servlet.http.HttpServletResponse. response.sendRedirect(response.encodeRedirectURL(MM_editRedirectUrl));
I have no idea what to do. Has someone run into this problem before?
You can also e-mail me at [email protected]
Thanks,
rrg

Okay, I got the Oracle JDBC driver installed on Windows & it is connecting to & opening the database in DreamWeaver UltraDev.
I've not yet overcome the issue with the HTTP Error Code 405 on the computer the database is on itself. I'm open to & would be grateful for ideas/insights..

  • Help building an e-commerce site using DreamWeaver MX 2004 and Oracle 10G

I'm new to using Oracle 10G. After reviewing several rdms's I've picked Oracle 10G as my rdms. I'm trying to build an ecommerce site using DreamWeaver MX 2004 and Oracle 10G. The website will be selling hardware and software products. I have a choice in DreamWeaver to go for a .asp or .jsp setup. I have several questions, here goes:
    1. Is there any book/tutorial/whitepaper out there that describes building an ecommerce site using Oracle 10G/9I/8I? Just some examples as how to make the datamodel regarding the shopping basket etc.
    2. I prefer DreamWeaver as it let's me make nice looking css style based pages without throttling too much through the code. Are there Oracle tools which allow me to make an advanced nice looking ecommerce site?
I hope some of you can help me get started. Any effort is appreciated.

  • Problems with connection with Oracle Database (Dreamweaver)

I'm trying to create a connection with a oracle database, with JDBC.
In order to do that, I've downloaded the classes12.zip driver in my machine. This is the driver from Oracle.
    I've put this file into directory c:\Program Files\Macromedia\Dreamweaver MX\Configuration\JDBCDrivers.
So, I've gone to Window -> Application -> Databases menu into Dreamweaver MX, clicked in the plus (+) signal and choosed Oracle thin Driver (Oracle).
I've filled thin window with the following values:
    Connection name: conn1
    Driver: oracle.jdbc.driver.OracleDriver
    URL: jdbc:oracle:thin:@machinename:1521:SID
    Username: ....
    Password: ...
When I click in the Test button into this window, the following success message appears:
    Connection was made successfully!
But when I go to Bindings window to build a Recordset, the connection doesn't get the tables, and the following error message appears:
Unable to retrieve tables from this connection, click on 'Define...' button to test this connection.
Does somebody know the answer for this problem?
    Thank you.

Don't bother with a loopback adapter unless you are using a laptop that needs Oracle to work whether connected or unconnected to the business network. Much simpler to just arrange for DHCP to assign you a fixed IP address (a lease reservation).
It's the change of IP address which trips Oracle up, not the existence of DHCP. So if you can make sure your IP address will be the same, no matter how you acquire it, that's all you have to do.
Installing a loopback adapter which isn't the primary interface at the point you install Oracle will mean your installation will get very confused as to whether to address things via the 127... address or the "normal" IP address. And yes, at that point, you'll not be able to connect to instances, or run listeners or do all sorts of other things reliably.
If it were me, I'd uninstall the mess you probably now have as far as Oracle goes, install something like VirtualBox (free) or VMware Workstation (costs) and enjoy your Oracle experience inside the confines of a virtual machine whose networking setup you can configure and control to your heart's content, without it screwing up your real machine's ability to connect to your work's network when it needs to.

  • OracleAS Portal Extension for Macromedia Dreamweaver

Were you ever wondering, how you can integrate Portal pages seamlessly into your Web site ? You can now using our extension for Macromedia Dreamweaver. Simply create or edit OracleAS Portal UI Templates directly from within Dreamweaver. These UI Templates can be used as "skins" for your Portal page. The extension also provides support for the UI Template substitution tags from Dreamweaver's Insert Panel.
For more information, go to http://portalcenter.oracle.com and click on Integration Solutions.

    Hi,
I am testing the integration and encountering some problems :
my portalTemplate.ear was deployed to a standalone OC4J instance (904).
The portalTemplate.xml contains valid information ( tested with sqlplus ).
The Dreamweaver extension was correctly installed.
When I try to login to Portal, i get a "There was an error connecting to Portal. Please check the db connection in portalTemplate.xml" .
I thought about many potential causes like starting my OC4J instance with -Dhttp.proxyHost and -Dhttp.proxyPort or to provide LDAP users credentials instead of db credentials when login in ... what's wrong ?
PS : When navigating to http://localhost:8888/portalTemplate/portalTemplate?operation=getName I cannot invoke the operation successfully; I get the same error "Error in making the database connection".

  • Does Dreamweaver work with Oracle Content Management

I'm trying to use Dreamweaver with our company WebDAV. Oracle
is having me use Site Studio to build our intranet pages but it's
capabilities are so limited. Has anyone had any luck using
    Dreamweaver in this environment?

We faced same issue. Looks like the native driver does not support the automatic data encoding/decoding from/to database. You can always workaround this by reading everything as byte stream and then by letting java handle the encoding/decoding. But we decided to use type4 thin driver which does this automatically if you set the content type. Anyway we are told that later versions of IAS may not support native drivers, so if you are serious about multi language shift to type4 thin drivers now itself.

  • OracleAS Portal Extension for Macromedia Dreamweaver errors

I have installed the .ear file and the extenstion into Dreamweaver without any problems.
I then created a Portal Template page and tried to save it to the Portal (Portal - Save As). Entering the Portal instance and testing this was ok but then when I try and save my new template to Portal I get an error:
"A local copy of the file must be present before uploading the Template to Portal. Would you like to save a copy now ?"
If I OK this I then get the following error:
"While executing onClick, the following Javascript error(s) occurred:
At line 443 of file c:\Program Files\Dreamweaver MX\Configuration\Commands\saveAsTemplate.js": The function closeDocument() is currently unavailable"
    Any ideas ?
Anyone got this to work ?
    Thanks
    Simon.

    Hi Simon
wrt to the "This Template was either not stored properly or defined incorrectly. This Template cannot be opened" error.
One of the probable causes for this error is when you define more than one portal connections with the same name or you define a portal connection with a name which has invalid characters and then save a template into that portal or try to open a template from that portal.
This error basically means that the web service is returning a null value or an undefined value for the template code. This could also be because of malformed template code.
Could you please check the following:
    1. You have not defined more than one portal connections with the same name
    2. You have not defined the portal connection with a name that has invalid characters.
    3. Template does not have malformed code.
    Hope this helps,
    Ramya

  • How do I get LONG RAW from Oracle with ASP page designed in Dreamweaver

    Hello,
I have a single entry field the user enters a SSN to search a database, the query searches one table which returns the data.
Unfortunately one of the fields in the table is a LONG RAW field.
How do I create the ASP page to display the LONG RAW data correctly?
    Thanks,

You can use XSU with Oracle 8.1.6:
    xsu12_816.jar: for Java 1.2
    xsu111_816.jar: for Java 1.1
Please refer to the following link to download the XDK for Java:

XSU provide both JAVA and PL/SQL APIs.

  • Full image links working but showing broken in dreamweaver?

All my images were displayed as relative links and worked perfectly on local host and displayed correctly on dreamweaver design view, but I wanted to change them to full links before I go live.
So I changed all the urls (using find and display) and now even though all the images work fine on localhost,  on the actual dreamweave desgin view many of the images are shown as broken rather than the actual image. I cannot understand why.
Code for image that shows broken rather than image in design view:
    <img src="http://localhost/mysite/images/img.jpg" alt="alt text" width="196" height="156" class="imgRight" />
Code that displays fine in design view:
    <img src="http://localhost/mysite/images/img2.jpg" alt="alt text" width="182" height="133" class="imgRight" />
Is there something I am missing, am I not linking to the image correctly when I use the full url, if so why would some show and others not and all be fine on localhost testing?
    Help as always much appreciated.
    Thank you in advance.

    Hello,
I have attempted to load the images based on the instructions provided on the Oracle site (On Windows XP).
    According to the instructions:
Once you complete the standard install, you need to perform the following steps to complete the upgrade:
    1. Connect to SQL*Plus as SYS
    2. @APEX_HOME/apex/apxldimg.sql APEX_HOME
    My steps were: CMD --> sqlplus /nolog --> conn sys/[password] as sysdba;
Then, I ran the above script and receive the following error:
    declare
    ERROR at line 1:
ORA-22288: file or LOB operation FILEOPEN failed
The system cannot find the path specified.
    ORA-06512: at "SYS.DBMS_LOB", line 523

    ORA-06512: at line 15
    For: 2. @APEX_HOME/apex/apxldimg.sql APEX_HOME
    I had entered:
    @C:\apex\apxldimg.sql apex
    Any suggestions?

  • Dreamweaver and Java SE 6 Runtime problem on MAC Mountain Lion OSX

I have a problem with dreamweaver. I really love dreamweaver for building web pages and have used it for years with a PC.  I recently switched from a PC to a MAC but I find that when I open the Dreamweaver app for the first time I get a prompt that says something like "You must download Java SE 6 runtime, would you like to install it now?"   I click yes, and the download fails.  I called Apple about it, they said the software resides on Oracle's Java web site, and its out of their control.  I go to the Oracle Java web site it says "Apple supplies their version of Java SE 6 runtime and there's no way to download it from the Java.com site.  All this means is that YOUR software does not work on my MAC because these two companies can't agree on who suppies this software.
What I need to know is HOW DO I GET DREAMWEAVER TO WORK?  How do I get around this crazy *** catch 22 situation?  And why doesn't your software recognize Java SE 7 runtime?

I'm in the same boat with you. I recently used Time Machine to backup my profile and then wiped my entire drive and installed Mountain Lion. After importing all of my data with the Migration Assitant, Dreamweaver will NOT open.
SnakEyez02, Oracle's website does NOT have the dowload. The link you posted is to version 7. We've been down this road already. Martiantime is correct, neither Apple nor Oracle are providing Java SE 6, but Dreamweaver is crying to have it installed.
So, Adobe, how do we get out of the hole that we did not dig?

  • Using PSP with Dreamweaver

Using Dreamweaver to create PSP pages can become effortless and allow developers to rapidly generate thin-client, web based applications. Anything that can be accomplished with an ASP, PHP, JSP or any type of dynamic web page that also incorporates Javascript, can easily be created with PSP.
I've proven to management at my company that given similar application requirements, writing and deploying PSP pages is a much faster development cycle. And, in ALL cases, execution time is much faster and with a smaller application footprint.
When using these scripts together with Dreamweaver you can create a Rapid Application Development environment all by using PL/SQL Server Pages.
The batch file LOAD_PSP.bat will create a PSP file from your HTM file, creates a timestamped backup copy, and loads the PSP file into the database - all fast and easy.
Copy these batch files to your development directory and create a backup directory called Backup. Simply modify these batch files by adding the service name of your database to DB_NAME and adding your development username and password to the PSP_CONNECT variables. You should also change the path of your Oracle Home for the ORACLE_HOME variable as well.
To use these batch files, simply open a DOS Window and change it to your development directory where the batch files reside. Execute the batch files with the syntax, "LOAD_PSP web_page [optional connect string]" and the batch file will execute (don't add the .htm extension).
To allow you to maintain some sense of versioning, use the CH_PSP.bat script. This script simply adds a CHKPNT extension to the file name in the Backup folder. The reason for this is that LOAD_PSP will still copy PSP backup files of those compilations that fail and these should be removed. When you application is working, you can create a "CHECKPOINT" of the PSP file that you know works. This allows you to only maintain backup copies that you know work. Simply use the syntax "CH_PSP web_page". To perform a CHECKPOINT on all files in a folder, use the syntax "CH_PSP /ALL".
To view help for each, simply run the batch file followed by a /? or /help.
In closing, challenge a Java developer to create a dynamic, web-based, database driven app from scratch and win the top 3 challenges: Development time, size of application and speed of the application. I'll bet the PSP app wins all 3 every time.

No I have created a mdb database and in the administrator

I am using the built-in CF web server.
I was trying to create a directory for a testing web page (

I guess it will be a long way to learn but I will do it

  • Online Help for Oracle HRMS Self Service System

I am looking into developing context-sensitive online help for an Oracle HRMS Self Service application. There is currently no online help for the application; all help is provided in printed and online docs, so users are having trouble navigating to the info they need. Help is needed! My initial questions are:
Would I need to create OHJ or OHW?
Could I use RoboHelp to develop the content?
Is there a reference document you can point me to?
    Thanks
    Belinda

    Hi Belinda,
You would create Oracle Help, and then deploy it using OHJ or OHW.
The format of the help is the same. There is nothing specific that needs to be done for one or the other. If your system i s a Web application, you would use OHW and otherwise, you would use OHJ.
You can read more about Oracle Help on OTN at http://www.oracle.com/technology/tech/java/help/index.html.
(Read the FAQ for more information about the choice between OHJ and OHW.)
Personally, I would not recommend RoboHelp to create Oracle Help. RoboHelp has a lot of nice features, but the Oracle Help output feature is fairly buggy, especially if you are creating a large helpset, or a helpset that has subhelpsets.
At Oracle, a lot of help development is done using DreamWeaver and an in-house build tool, called the Oracle Help Build Tool. This is available for free. Send me a mail ([email protected]) if you want a copy.
    Regards,
    Pete

  • Accessing ODBC Database through CF and Dreamweaver

Ok, so I have a db connection set up under the ODBC administrator.  It is using Oracle 8 or 9 (can't remember) but it is what I use so that I can connect to it through my company's Accounting Software.  I want to query it using Dreamweaver and make a CF page of the query.
    Here's what I've done:
In CF Admin, I created the datasource, chose ODBC, chose the Server name and username and pw and it connected successfully.
Went into Dreamweaver, added the datasource and Tested Connection--it connected successfully.  I can even expand the Tables tree and see the tables.
Now, when I create a query in a new CF document, I get an error when the query runs (like if I'm editing the Record Set and I click Test, it gives me an error).
    Here is the error:

Do you know what is going wrong?  Also, when I edit the recordset, there is a place for username and pw but if I entere it there, it shows up plaintext in the cfm code which doesn't sound like a good idea.  Do I have to enter it there?  Even if I do, I still get the error.

Yes, if you use the Oracle driver, you can create the Oracle dataconnection directly in ColdFusion by providing it the SID, Server, Port, Username and Password for the oracle database to which you are trying to connect.
Using this dirver means you don't need to set up any ODBC or Oracle Listner clients on the maching for ColdFusion.  Other software that maybe using those connections is a different matter of course.
ODBC is a ODBC to JDBC bridge that allows ColdFusion to connect to any ODBC connectors you have set up on the Microsoft ODBC pannel.
But you do need a function Data Source configured in the ColdFusion administrator, whether it be an Oracle, ODBC, or "Other" JDBC driver.

  • Dreamweaver fails to launch, but other CC apps run fine

I've been subscribed to Creative Cloud for over a year. I'm running 10.9.2 on a MacBook Pro. Just today I tried to launch DW and its icon bounced a handful of times and then disappeared. I uninstalled DW and then re-installed it, but got the same result. Other CC apps run fine (Muse, InDesign, PhotoShop, Audition), so I'm not sure what to try next.
I don't "live" in these apps everyday and may launch soem of them once or twice a month. It's possible I've not launched DW since upgrading to Mavericks two months ago. Does DW have trouble running in 10.9?
I am signed in through the CC Application Manager and everything with my account seems to be fine. Any ideas about what to try next?
    Thanks for any advice!

It was difficult to find specific information about this, especially as it would seem to be a widespread Mavericks problem. I posted here because I initially thought the problem might have to do with Creative Cloud's authentication process.
It turns out that Dreamweaver CC has some Java SE 6 runtime dependencies, but Mavericks comes with Java 7. I'm not sure why this hasn't been remedied by Adobe by now. Apparently some Mavericks users had been prompted by DW upon launch to install Java 6—which could explain why the problem hasn't shown up more on the forums as it was quickly remedied—but my copy never got that far. I did have some trouble tracking down where to download Java 6 for Mac, as it's not on Oracle's site, but found it here: http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1572?viewlocale=en_US&locale=en_US
After uninstalling DW (again!) and installing Java 6, I re-installed DW and it opened.
The other suggestions about given had to do with older CS6 apps not working and weren't helpful to my specific problem.
I'm posting this in case any other user has experienced the same problem in the same way.

  • Import Excel with mutiples sheets into Oracle

    Hi,
I got a few questions here, I did some google-ing but I would like get clarifications:
    1. In order to make Excel "talks" to Oracle with External Table, do I need to convent the Excel file into .csv?
    2. Apparently my Excel has mutiple sheets (20+), do I need to save each sheet individually as 1 single .csv before they "talk"?
(sounds like it...but I "hope" there is another way...-_-)
    3. I am using TOAD and the tool "Import Table Data" can read .xls and .xlsx directly, however I will have to do 20+ times for each sheet... beside that, is there any other quicker way to read the Excel files?
(even if I use External Tables I have might have to save each sheet into a .cvs for 20+ times...-_-)
    Thanks everyone in advance...
    My questions sounds stupid.....=_=!!

Which DW are you using - DMX on Mac? It didn't have that
    option. This is
not an Educational version issue - it's a Mac issue.
