Dreamweaver preview and flash movie
Greetings All,
Im sure this question has been answeredmany times but i cant seem to find any solutions. Here it is:
- In dreamweaver I add an .flv file to play on my web page.
- When previewing from dreamweaver into Firefox or Safari the movie shows up and plays just fine
- The entire site is uploaded to my FTP ( hosted by godaddy ) and when I check the page the movie is gone. If I right click on the are where the movie is supposed to be, it says "movie not loaded"
I have tried almost everything I can think of. This site is for a client and I could really use any help. here is the link to the page. If someone out there can help and needs more than the link supplied, please let me know.
Thanks in advance, Jay

Is that code something which i missed in dreamweaver. i added a flash movie and did everything that was asked in the pop up. this is above my ability and i am trying to help out a friend. if its not an easy fix, would you be willing to fix it for a fee? please let me know as his boss is applying pressure to get it up and functioning properly.
thanks

Editable regions and Flash movie
Hi,
I am trying to insert a flash movie into an editable region
of a child page, but I keep getting the following error: "Making
this change would require changing code that is locked by a
template or translator. The change will be discarded."
I have read previous posts about the same issue, but none of
them answers my question. I tried creating a new template and a
child from it as a test deleting the css links (like some one
suggested to do) to try to identify the troubled css and I kept
getting the same error in the new pages. I hope someone can help to
identify the issue and the solution. The region where I want to
insert the movie is called "FinalMainContent."
BTW, I do not know how to write code... Sorry!
Thanks, in advance, for any help you can provide!
Here is the code:

I can insert Flash (swf movie) into my file locally and view
the Flash movie playing. As soon as I put the file and the Flash
movie up on my server and call up the page, it will not show
anything. After clicking the error message on the IE task bar the
error says "Object expected" Can someone please tell me what I am
missing.
Thanks.Microsoft changed Internet Explorer after Dreamweaver 8 came
out. The Flash
fix, as it's known, was added to the 8.02 updater.

Extreme poor quality in full screen preview and exported movie
I have spend evenings and evenings to create the content of a project.
After dealing with error -108 and extreme poor quality in full screen preview and in exported movies (extreme stuttering) I decided to install my iMac new again.
The error -108 disappeared, but the extreme stuttering still remained in full screen preview and in exported movies.
If I make the preview screen in the iMovie browser as big as possible there is nothing to see of any stuttering.
Now I am getting pretty annoyed and have no clue what to do anymore (how to solve this problem) .....
Anyone any suggestion ?
The orginal video was recorded with a Panasonic HD camcorder.
I do have a mid 2011 iMac with 16GB ram and 256GB SSD and 1TB HD with a complete clean installation
of OS X Lion and iLife. This configuration should be enough to create a proper movie :-(mantralightroom wrote:
why is it this option disabled? do the generate monitor sized previews increase a lot the cache a lot!
Potentially, yes. The standard Preview is 1024 pixels, longest size. Some people (like Omke) have displays 2560 pixels longest side, potentially increasing file size by over 500%. -
OSX Adobe Reader and Flash Movies
Hi,
first of all, sorry for my bad english :-)
I put two Flash-Movies to a PDF. One of them is a simple Text-Animation, the other one is a Image-Viewer. The Image-Viewer gets the Image Data from a XML File, that's hostet on our Webserver.
There are no Problems watching the PDF on my Windows Adobe Reader, so the crossdomain.xml Settings seems to be ok. But on OSX Leopard, the ImageZoomer wouldn't play. It seems on OSX the Flash Movie didn't get connection to the Internet, so the XML-File couldn't read. The Adobe Reader Settings are set to default, Reader Version is 9.0.
Has anyone the same problems or can tell me whats going wrong? What is your operating system & version?
For Flash Player, try a clean install as described in http://forums.adobe.com/thread/928315
For Adobe Reader I need to know your OS. -
Hi,
I have had the adobe creative suite suite 3 Deisgn premium for over an year now. Recently over the past 2 months I am no longer able to open up any of the following programs:
Photoshop
Dreamweaver
Illustrator
Flash
They have worked for me in the past but now they are just not opening up for me. I have tried plenty of things such as:
Uninstalling the whole cd then reinstalling
Calling customer service
Browsing/googling for ways to fix it
Yet I still have been yet to get this issue resolved. I have tried installing the CS4 30 day trial and that works fine. But I want my CS3 version to work. I tried everything. The thing is I do not get an error message either on the these so there is no way of titling this issue. If it helps I have windows vista. Well please let me know what you come up with . My email is [email protected] Thank you!
Brett RyanWhat does happen? When I double click on them nothing happens for a second it gives me the loading signal but nothing comes up.
You say no error message - how far in the boot process does the program get? Does it just not respond at all? Does the program load-box appear and freeze? Does the program load-box appear and dissapear? Does the computer freeze up in the middle of the load?
You never end up seeing anything for any of the applications except for photoshop which loads but then closes right away. So it just doesnt respond at all. But there is no freezing. So the load-box only appears and dissapears when I open photoshop. but for everything else it just never appears.
Does the process display in your processes list?
No it does not display
Did you install/uninstall/delete anything around the time this started?
I'm pretty sure I didnt uninstall or install anything around the time it started. I think I would remember if it did. So i'm pretty sure I did not.
Did you try going back to a restore point before this started? No I did not.
Have you run a thorough virus scan? Yes I have and nothing comes up. -
Since upgrading to Snow Leopard my icons and all web based flash content are covered in blocks of moving dots - almost like static. Movies playing in iTunes or Quicktime are fine and images displayed in Photoshop etc. are all OK. I'm guessing it's something to do with my graphics card - ATI Radeon HD 4870 - any ideas anyone? Thanks!
It looks like someone else has had this problem too, a while back, but no solution posted…

Previews and purchased movies take eternity to start
I'm using my third Apple TV and second Apple TV 3. I have never been able to watch an entire movie preview at the Apple Store without at least one rebuffering, and usually many. While Netflix starts an HD movie in a few seconds, Apple informs me that I must wait 40 minutes for an HD movie to download, though it shows as "purchased." My Internet connection is 20-25 mbps. Apple is not in the stadium, much less in the game.
That is dependent on your network. Netflix adapts to the connection (it can go as low as 0.2 mbps). iTunes content is fixed and needs to load a portion before playback.
Was your internet connection vierified using speedtest.net?
Have you checked for network interference (istumbler.net)?
Is your DNS set to the ISPs (settings - general - network - DNS should be set to automatic) -
Locked out of Macromedia Dreamweaver, Fireworks, and Flash.
I haven't used these apps in awhile, but I tried to open them, and it asked me for my password, so I typed it in, and after three times it said the password is wrong, what do I, do now?
Maybe call Macromedia or check their web site for support forums?

Just upgraded machine, Dreamweaver and Flash not working
I've been using Dreamweaver MX and Flash MX on my old Power Mac G5 for the last 5 years and just upgraded to a new Mac Pro Quad Core Intel Xeon processor. It is a 64 bit system using Mac OS10.6.4.
They do not run on this new machine. Is there any way to get them to run on it?
If not, do I have to pay full price for new software or is there an upgrade available?
Thanks,
Glenn NevillIf you want the new version you would have to pay the full price. The Adobe policy is upgrade once every 3 versions. MX was version 6, CS5 is version 11. I would recommend purchasing the new suite if you can. Otherwise, if it ran under Leopard, you may (I am not positive) be able to run Parallels with 10.5 and run MX in a virtual environment.

Possible to offer a 640x480 size Flash movie?
Hello & Happy Christmas List responders,
My name is Luke Wonderly, and I've used flash 5 a little bit
- in the past.
I just purchased my new copy of CS3, and am beginning to
develop how the work flow for
my project should go.
I have several hundred individual "Dance" moves, that are 6
to 12 seconds long (both real time - and slow motion) shot
on DVC-Pro 720x486 - exported as uncompressed QT movies - in
a current supported Codec.
I would like to deliver them on the internet - both as QT,
and Flash movies.
For the Flash development, my first questions -
2 Questions:
1). Is it possible to deliver an internet Flash Movie at a
640x480 size?
I see tons of references to creating 320x240 sizes - but
what about the larger, physical size?
2) Is it possible to allow a way for my audience to download,
save & keep the Flash movies - to watch later?
If so, how are the way's you folks would do it? (3rd
question).
Thank you for any help, time or direction that you may offer.
Kindest regards & Christmas greetings,
Luke Wonderly
[email protected]Thank you rafiqelmansy for helping,
and Happy New Year to you as well!
Ok, I think I understand about file size and bandwidth.
These movies will be offered on line - to paying subscribers.
Each movie teaches a paticular dance move (with 2 different
camera views
one real time, the other view in slow motion) . . plus there
is no Audio .
Only text titles, description & break down.
So the content is for training (monkey see, monkey do), and
needs to be as large as possible - preferably 640x480 . . . .
The clients know that it's not going to be tiny file sizes -
and because each
dance movie is only (average) 8 seconds long - it should
still boil down
to an acceptable, downloadable size . . . .
At least that's what I was hoping for. Thank you for letting
me know that
Flash will at least give me the options.
Of course I'll be doing all kinds of compression level
testing - but I didn't
want to start in a 640 direction - until I could find out
first - if that physical size was even supported.
In reference to question 2, you wrote:
"2) yes, you just need to upload the version that the users
need to download and link to it from Flash using."
It looked like maybe you got cut off - or that you wanted me
to go to your
web site (using attached link) . . . I searched your site on
the tutorials -
very nice (I know physical size of Flash content &
player, and will use your tutorial for that end of delivery) . . .
But I didn't see any reference on:
How to offer your customers the ability to download,
save/keep, and watch the movie(s) later . . . . (but maybe I missed
it).
Do I offer it with a link to a Compressed "Stuff it" flash
player file.
Is there just a simpler way?
And then, what happens when the customer actually double
clicks the
file that's on their computer . . . . . does it engage the
browser, then the flash plug in - then
begin playing it ?
I'm just not sure how it should be done - so that it will
really work.
Could you please help me on this a little more?
Thanks again,
Luke Wonderly -
OS X: Dreamweaver 8 AND CS 3 won't start!!!
Just did a complete system installation with OS X 10.5.1. I
then installed Adobe CS 2 plus a Dreamweaver 8 and Flash 8. The
system is running perfect, exept that Dreamweaver 8 was crashing on
startup (freezing after startup screen). I did the hole
"delete-config-delete-prefs-delete-siteprefs" procedure.
Nothing… I even tryied to get rid of the startup screen as
described in a
tech note. But as
described I opened the prefs in order to kill the start screen but
the file was empty!
Because I have a deadline to meet, I got a trial version of
CS 3 from the Adobe site, just to get things done and take care of
the problem on another day. Guess what… Dreamweaver CS 3
crashes too!!!! Same freezing phenomena just after showing the
startup screen (not the app logo but that dashboard which is
displayed after app is loaded). I did exactly the same procedure
with deleting prefs and such… nothing.
Site lauch is postponed now, Dreamweaver still not
running… I am tempted to jump out of the window.OK, I got the bad guy. It was definitely the start up screen.
For all folks having a pref file WITH content in it, see the tech
note in my post above.
But if you just installed Dreamweaver from scratch, this file
is empty. In this case fire up a text editor like TextEdit or
TextWrangler, create a new document and copy/paste the below code
into the empty document. Then save the file and name it
"Dreamweaver 8 Prefs". Do not use a file ending (like .txt). Then
save the file in your ~/Library/Preferences/
That did the trick for me!!! Where I got my prefs from? I
grabed my very old PowerBook where I had an old pref file from a
working installation, moved it over to the new machine and modified
it as described in the tech note regarding how to remove the
startup screen. -
ANN: Deep discount on some DW 8 and Flash 8 books
Amazon.com is offering some amazing discounts on several
Dreamweaver 8
and Flash 8 books, including my "Foundation PHP for
Dreamweaver 8",
which is currently just $8.00 (80% discount). Other heavily
discounted
books are:
"Foundation Web Design with Dreamweaver 8" - $10.23 (71%
discount)
"Foundation ActionScript for Flash 8" - $13.16 (71% discount)
"Foundation Flash 8" - $10.83 (71% discount)
"Foundation Flash 8 Video" - $9.00 (80% discount)
I contacted friends of ED to find out why two of my books (I
co-authored
the ActionScript one) were being so heavily discounted, as an
80%
discount usually indicates the book has been remaindered by
the
publisher. The answer is that this appears to be an Amazon
promotion, as
the books in question have not been remaindered. I have no
idea how long
these bargain prices will last, but if you were planning to
buy a DW 8
or Flash 8 book, this might be a good opportunity.

Centering flash movie top and bottom in dreamweaver?
Hi all, I'm a novice user of dreamweaver.
I've placed a flash movie in dreamweaver and centered it left
and right but how can I center it top and bottom so it
floats? Not too sure what you mean exactly by "so it floats." But
I'll hazard a
guess that you want your video to appear inside a
semi-transparent lightbox
that appears to float over the page content beneath it. If
so, have a look
at FloatBox.

Certain flash movies will not play - including Adobe TV movies with Dreamweaver tutorials
For months, certain .swf movies will not play. No error, won't even load the player. I thought it was because of IE8 which I installed several months ago. Now I loaded Firefox and Opera and the movies still do not play in those browsers either. At least I get an error message "TypeError: Error #1009: Cannot access a property or method of a null object reference".
I have newly installed Dreamweaver CS4 and when I launch it, there are links to Adobe TV videos. These will not play. Here is an example of a video that will not play: http://tv.adobe.com/watch/inside-the-dreamlabs/dreamweaver-cs4-live-preview/
I have googled the error but the results seem to be developers talking about code in Action Script 3.
Can someone please help? I have spent hours trying to get this resolved.
My Flash Player version is 10,0,45,2 and I had the issue when I was at 10,0,32 whatever as well.Ya, it's a very old post. This forum actually has a very high response rate (more than 90%+) thanks to people like Pat, Carl and Xircal who volunteer their time and knowledge to help the community.
