Drill through in system 9

Hi,
Any one could you please tell me what will be the usuage of Drill through, what it is?
Thanks,
sudhakar.

Generally the concept is to zoom in on a dimensional hierarchy and when you reach the bottom have the ability to continue on by jumping to another database and/or another technology, like a relational database. For example you might have a relational database with daily activity, but in your OLAP model you load consolidated monthly numbers. Some users might have a need to see the daily level detail so they could "drill-thru" from the OLAP model to the relational database to retrieve the daily details.

  • Error on the reports with drill-through links on SSRS 2012 SP2 -- Invalid URI: The Uri string is too long

Hi, We are migrating SSRS 2008 R2 reports to SSRS 2012 SP2. (PS. SSRS 2012 SP2 has been applied.) Everything went smooth expect some reports which were using reporting services. These reports have some drilin-through actions and was passing in a huge
xml parameter. I referred to some other posts in which there were also some similar issues like "The Uri string is too long."  but they're different. My reports can be opened and the error only occurred when accessing the drill-through actions.
As I know, Microsoft has provided the fix for the known issue "The Uri string is too long." in sp1 but it looks it can't cover this kind of situation since I have installed the SSRS SP 2. Is there any solution? In addition, there's no such
    issue on SSRS 2008 R2.
    Thanks,
    onizga

    Hi onizga,
According to your description that you are migrating SSRS 2008 R2 reports to SSRS 2012 SP2, after migration you got some error like “The Uri string is too long” which only occurred when accessing the drill-through actions, right?
Usually, the issue can be caused when you try to pass some parameters that cause the URL length to exceed 65,520 characters for a Microsoft SQL Server 2012 Reporting Services (SSRS 2012), you cannot render the report, and you may receive the following error
    message:
The value of parameter 'param' is not valid. (rsInvalidParameter).Invalid URI: The Uri string is too long.
This is an known issue and already have the hotfix SQL Server 2012 Service Pack1 Cumulative Update 9 (CU9) as you know, you can try to reinstall this hotfix to fixed this issue:

  • Error while  making relational drill through connection

<p>Hi All,</p><p> </p><p>This Problem is related to Web Analysis report on System 9,for aceratin report I need to fetch data from RDBMS. So I tried tocreate a connection for relational drill through, but it threwerror saying connection failed. The exact message was:</p><p> </p><p>"Geeting Connection Failed",and got Exception Meassge"oracle.jdbc.driver.OracleDriver"</p><p> </p><p>Could you people suggest what cause is there behind that.</p><p>Here I would like to mention that same RDMBS I can access onworkspace through BQY.</p><p> </p><p>I'll be very thankful if somebody could help me out of this.</p><p> </p><p>Chandra</p>

I got this error but I was working with SQL Server. The way to fix this was getting the latest JDBC drivers for SQL Server (or in your case Oracle) and adding them to the classpath. You will have to add it the the application server classpath as well since adding to the classpath on the server isnt enough.Hope this helps

  • Dimensions/Fields Displayed on Drill through screen

Is there a way to display additional dimensions/fields on the drill through screen in which you are not loading into the target system?
To elaborate, suppose I have an import file which I have the following fields: entity, account, dept, affiliate, and amount. My target system metadata has a house for all of those fields except dept because we do not load dept. So I go ahead and I set up my import format to capture all the fields except dept which I do not pull in because I wont load it. I load my data and now I drill through from my target system (click on $1000) and FDM launches and I click on the initial screen which shows the $1000 and it opens up the two lines that made up the $1000. On that screen however, I will only see the dimensions/fields that I loaded: Entity, Account, Account Description, Amount. I will not see Dept because I did not bring it in as I am not loading it. I know I can include Dept in the Import Format as an Attribute and click on the amount to show attributes but is there a way to have it on the initial screen? In other words, I want to bring in the field however I do not want to load it to the target system so it will display on the drill through screen?
Deepest apologies if I am doing a poor job articulating the question.

    Hello,
Unfortunately there is no way to change the design that you see during Drillback.
The dimensions that are displayed are controlled by the dimensions that are loaded into the target system. Since the target system does not know of these dimensions it is not displayed during drillback.
    Thank you,

  • How to create Drill through's from BPC to ECC and BEX

    Hi Experts,
    @Greetings@
Am new to BPC can any one help me on Drill trough's. I want to create a drill through to ECC system and BEX Query.
    Thanks for support in advance.
    Regards,
    Harini.

    Hi Harini,
Your Drill through functionality is linked to an on line search website, giving you all necessary information.
During reporting, you need to have more information about selected region.
Before performing or using the Drill-Through feature, ensure that the following prerequisites have been met
            1. You are logged on to any BPC Environment with administration authorizations
            2. From home screen, Switch to the administration area by clicking planning and consolidation                          Administration link
Inside admin area you find Drill through  maintainace in the content tree under the features node.
After opening the Drill through click on New button,
There we need to enter Id, Decription, URL and model name.
If you want do Drill- through from BEx query first you need to publish the query to portal. see below I mention the procedure for publishing a query in the portal.
BEx Query Designer: In the menu bar, choose Query → Publish → To the Portal. See Functions in the Menu Query.
BEx Web Application Designer: In the menu bar, choose Web Template  → Publish → To the Portal. See Functions in the Menu Query.
BEx Report Designer: In the menu bar, choose Report  → Publish → To the Portal. See Functions in the Menu Query.
After posting to portal copy that link paste in the URL address in the drill through.
In the parameter mapping add infoobjects technical names under parameters and Dimensions names under Dimension or user defined values and maintain the which property you want map mention under the property values.
And the save the query and go to the excel and you have an option in the excel ribbon Drill Through and click on that, you will get the query which you are posted in the portal.
    This may help,

One way is related content, which drills to another report based on the intersection clicked on by the user:
Check out the fr user guide (chapter 7) for more info:

  • Drill through from Planning to FDM 11.1.2 Not working

    Hi,
I have FDM with Essbase adapter installed, version 11.1.2.0.0.
And i have FDM application configured to load data from files to essbase. When in Planning form i am clicking 'drill through' icon on cell with loaded data it opens new window with error:
Error: No locations were found matching the passed intersection values. Please verify:
    1) that the target system (originating the drill through) is properly configured;
    2) that FDM POVs have not been retroactively modified or compromised.
In the FDM error log the following record:

And we can see that (CatTarget) = N'EXP.011201PDV.BDRS.BUDGET' consist of three joined together elements from three different dimension EXP.011201(account) and PDV.BDR(custom3) and S.BUDGET(scenario).
With other custom dimensions in this select statement - the same error, in front of correct element - string with other joined elements.
Can anybody help me to understand why i have this error in drill through?
FDM error or Oracle RDBMS errors or Planning with Essbase? Something wrong with locale setting may be, with "," or "." delimiter somewhere in the settings?

    Hi there
Are you using member aliases or names? I had problems with aliases in excel not allowing drill through. not sure if this is fixed in 11.1.2
Are you trying to drill through from a level 0 intersection?

  • Error when trying to run drill through in excel.

About 2 weeks ago we upgraded our system from Essbase 654 to 931.
Some of our users are now getting this error message on their screen when they try to run a drill through report.
    [OLAPISVR] 1051293:
When I look in the OLAPISVR.log the below error is being written in the log when users get the above error.

They are able to logon to the essbase database and do a retrieve fine in Excel, but not drill through. It looks like just before they start to get this error they have changed their network password.
We are not using shared services to administer the security. We are using an in house application for that. Also the users are set up to use external authentication.
We did not encounter this error with the 654 version.
Since the users ids are not changing I assumed the problem is with their password.
Anybody have any thoughts on what has to be done to fix this error?

Within EIS, you might have to test all of your Drill-Through reports again for connectivity.
I believe Excel Drill-through is closer to the LRO (Linked Reporting Objects) functionality.
The real reports are created and managed with in the EIS application as "Drill Through Report"
These reports also have a special process for refreshing their data.

  • ITS Enablign for BPC drill through

I am looking for document on how to enable ITS on ECC, BW servers so that BPC drill through can be connected.
Can any one tell me where to find the document for ITS enabling.

    Hi,
With SAP BPC M you don't have the ability to do drill trough into ECC.
Or at least nothing straight forward. You can build connection to extract data from from ECC into SQL table and after that to provide ability to do drill trough into this sql table but it isn't a direct connection to ECC system.

  • Hyperion web analysis reports: Error defining Drill through connections.

    Hi
we are facing problems while defining Drill through connections.
I am trying to define Drill through connection for oracle but i am unable to define.
I am having pracle client in my system and getting error: Getting connection failed.
    In details: oracle.jdbc.driver.OracleDriver
    DB connection string: jdbc:oracle:thin:@HOST-NAME:1521:ORCL
Here i have entered IP address in HOST-NAME and service name in ORCL.
Do we need to do anything(prerequisites) before define Drill through ?
    Please help me on this.
    Nagesh.

    Hi,
    1. First check whether jdbc driver(ojdbc14.jar) file is present into "C:\Hyperion\BIPlus\InstallableApps\WebAnalysis _war\WEB-INF\lib" folder.
    OR
C:\Hyperion\deployments\Tomcat5\WebAnalysis\webapps\WebAnalysis\WEB-INF\lib (any one of these depends upon the class u assigned)
Plz check the classpath as well.
if ojdbc14.jar file is not present in any of these path, place it there.
    2. Java is case sensitive, SO ur server name should be in CAPS. (First, try to connect to Relational DB thru New-->DBconnection-->Relational)
Plz let me know if u still have any issue.
    Best of luck

  • How Enabling ERP Integrator Drill Through from a Grid

    Hi All,
Can any one tell me how to see the source data by using FR.
some where i saw we can see this by using Enabling ERP Integrator Drill Through from a Grid.
but i dont know how to set this...
can any one help on this...

Incidentally we had been trying to use Essbase studio as an option. But there are 2 oints that we are trying to investigate.
    1) Can we bypass deployment of data and metadata everytime through Essbase studio after the initial outline is delpoyed? In the system architecture the relational tables are populated using ODI. We would like to load the data and metadata through ODI into the cube. Eeven then can we implement drill thru bypassing deployment through Essbase Studio?
    2) If Essbase studio is imperative for drill through then what are the batch automation options for deployment through Essbase studio? Ideally the option should be after the relational tables are populated through ODI then the Essbase deployment should be invoked and batch script should load the data and metadata through Essbase Studio.
    Please advise.
    Thanks,

  • EIS drill through - transactional data

Currently on Essbase 6.5.4.We currently have a need to be able to "drill down" to General Ledger transactional data that is stored in our data warehouse. (i.e A/P trasactions etc..) Is this possble through EIS without having to populate Essbase outlines or Essbase data via EIS?Thank You

You can do it two ways. 1) Through EIS drill-through. This will allow you to pull in other information that isn't or can't be in the outline (like adresses, product owner...). The draw back is that it produces an unstructured output and support is not universal. 2) Hybrid Analysis. This is for mor granular data that you do not want to load into Essbase. The dimensional members will be in Essbase, but the data will only reside in your source system. You can now have a significantly larger/more granular outline without impacting load and calc times. The drawback is that it is an extension of the cube and must be constrained by the dimensions (can not bring in other types of data that is not in the Essbase outline).Rich [email protected]

  • EIS drill-through performance is slow!!!!

take out the _nospam for email responses....my problem is I'm having horrible performance on an EIS drill-through (SQL 2000 repository). For a query that takes 17 seconds to execute from query analyzer (and from EIS as I can see in the logfile), it takes approx 15 minutes to return the recordset back to the Excel add-in. Is this a bug? It appears that there are hundreds of unnecessary queries being executed after the actual data retrieval that is causing the slowdown. We did see this at a client but the problem has since been fixed; we are not doing the EIS work, but I could ask around to see if there was anything specifid they did to fix the issue..Another symptom we saw at that client is that it took 2-3 minutes to open a modest sized outline built with EIS.. Do you see the same issue?Tim TowApplied OLAP, Inc

  • I need a colution in the creation of Drill through

    Hi,
I am doing SAP BPC Migration from MS7.0 to NW7.5.
In this I try to create a drill through in the NW version. There is no URL available in the MS version instead of this they store the data in a sql table in the back-end system for BPC MS.
I created one Info cube in the BW system and load the data which existing in the MS version.
Generated a URL by executing the Query in the BW system. I test the URL in the Drill through creation. It is working well, there is no problem with that URL.
ISSUE: when I try to save Drill through in the BPC NW,It is showing one error and the Drill through is not saved in the BPC NW7.5.
"Unhandled Exeception occued in your application If you click continue, the application will ignore this error and attempt to continue. If you will click Quit, application will close immediately." Access to the path is denied
Could you please help me in this to avoid the error.
    Thanks and Regards,
    Krishna.
