Drilling/linking queries

Hi,
I am pretty new to BO and Crystal, hence may be asking basic queries. But I am starting a new thread after searching through the various forums and doing a few rounds of googling.
1. Drill/links on graphs. Clicking on the lines/bars inside a graph or on the x-axis of graphs and drilling down into further details.
2. Filter other graphs on the same page based on the drill of any one graph.
Lets say, there are 5 graphs on the same page all showing a variety of data.
Say, Graph 1 shows a time wise trend. Graph 2 shows a country wise distribution and so on.
If Graph 1 is currently showing data for 3 years (2007, 2008, 2009), and now the user drills on the year 2009, then the Time Wise Trend show drill into 2009 and show data for all the 4 quarters of 2009. At the same time, all the 4 other graphs should automatically get filtered and should show data only for 2009.
Hence, Graph 2 should show a country wise distribution  but now only for 2009 u2013 its data should automatically get filtered based on the Drill done on the other graph (time trend).
Similarly, a drill down on the Country wise distribution should drill into various states for a particular country, and simultaneously all the other 4 graphs should get filtered on that country. Hence Graph 1 should show Time Wise Trend but only for the particular country which was drilled in Graph 2(region distribution).
3. Implementing aggregate awareness like functionality in crystal reports.
Say, the monthly data is stored in a different table and daily data in a different table.
Now, whenever a drill happens from Year -> Month -> Date, the Year and Month should come from the Monthly table whereas the Date should come from the daily table.
4. Implement more than 3 levels of drill downs - say, 6 levels.
Year -> Quarter -> Month -> Week -> Day -> Hour
The hourly, daily and weekly data will be stored only for a few days, whereas the monthly data will be aggregated into separate aggregated monthly tables.
Note that all 4 requirements are to be supported together in each report. These are not separate requirements in different reports.

  • Drill through queries

    Hi BW experts,
Can any body please let me know the steps involved in creating drill through queries from summarised infocube to detail ODS data.
    Thanks in advance
    Rajesh

    Hi Rajesh,
For doing this you will first have to set up the queries on the cube and ODS. To enable the drill through or jump across, the queries should have at least one char in common. You can then maintain the sender and receiver assignments in transaction RSBBS.

    Hi Vikram
Oh gosh, me and my big mouth!
Patch 5381032 has two references to issues with links. You might want to discuss your scenario with Oracle and ask them if this patch would resolve your issue.
Another solution would be to upgrade to 10.1.2.2 (available as a patch on MetaLink) which has most of the fixes from all of the patches applied. Again I would advise you speak with Oracle Support as they are the only one who can actually confirm whether this particular issue was fixed in this release.
Are you by any chance seeing zero numbers display as 00 and are you seeing any graying out of icons? If so, then patch 5345595 (sometimes referred to as 5345528) fixes this and is a good patch to apply if you haven't already done so.
All of these patches require a password which can only be obtained from Oracle by raising a service request to Support and stating the issues that you have.
    Hope this helps

  • Link queries dynamically in a work book

    Hi,
I have a workbook which has two queries (both of type transaction data), embedded. Both of them have a document number which is unique and could exist in both the queries. I want to link the two queries and in my third sheet in the work book I want to print Key figure values of both the queries if two key characteristics ex: doc number and date are the same. Please let me know if there is any thing to be done in the Bex analyzer side other than a "Vlookup" in excel.
    Thanks

You can use excel macros to achieve this.

  • Service desk: Hide links (queries) in the work center view

    Hi,
we are using the service desk towards our customers.
Basically we have to sets of roles: one for consultants (ourselves) and one for our customers.
Our customers are entering the service desk through a web-interface.
If the consultants enters the web-interface, they can see reports and queries to the left, and they can open and edit tickets.
If the customers enters the web-interface, they cannot see queries and reports in the left navigation bar, and they can not open and edit tickets.
Now we need a third possibility:
A customer need to open and edit tickets, but they should not be allowed to define (or even execute) queries.
Because when they can define queries, they get access to see all other customers tickets. And that is not good.
    How to obtain this?
    Thanks a lot in advance.
    / peter

Based on your comments, I take it that you may not implementing a formal first level support who can perform these tasks as recommended by solman standard. If you are, your customer can request reassignment using their reply option, and the support tech performs the task. You can implement some sort of email notification process to inform the new BP.
Alternatively, I can suggest two modifications if you have a developer at your disposal:
    1) in your solution manager system, clone the incident create web dynpro to ensure population of the required fields to the customer and to suit your requirement. Here you can also remove the SU15 text id checks.
    2) in your satellite system, modify the function group which triggers the create incident process and have it launch the cloned web dynpro above.
My apologies, I don't have access to a solman system immediately to give you the exact object names for the above suggestions.

  • Oracle EBS drill link targets for EAM Work Order and Asset

Hi All - I am running Oracle EBS 12.1.3 and OBIEE 11g and I'm trying to link from OBIEE to EBS, but struggling to find the target functions / parameters to provide a direct URL link to EBS EAM Work Order and Asset. I have successfully linked to a Purchase Order View page, I would like to find the similar for EAM Asset and Work Order.
I can see some parameters in WorkOrderDetailsPGCO but can't seem to work out how to get to the page from a URL.
For reference MOS Note 555254.1 has some details, but not for EAM.
Has anyone provided users in any reporting system with a link to EAM Work Order or Asset page and if so how were the links generated?
    Thanks,
    Gareth

I am giving this a bump as I really need some help with this. Is I run the SQL with TOAD or SQLPlus it seems to consistently runs fine, The problem seems to only be from APEX. I think it has do to with the non-persistent state.

  • Multiple linked query report in 6i

    Hi,
I have a report with multiple linked queries.
    Group 1 (1st query)
Group 2 (2nd query linked to 1st query)
Group 3 (3rd query linked to 1st query)
There is a page protect on group 2, when group 2 goes to a the second page it sometimes leaves room for group 3 to print on the first page.
I do not want group 3 to print until group 2 has finished printing entirely.
How can I push group 3 to print on the second page if there is room on the first page??
    Any help would be great!
    Kelly

    Hi Kelly,
Typically, group 2 will be in a variable sized frame (M_2). If group 3 is below "M_2" (and there's nothing between them) then group 3 should be implicitly anchored to "M_2". That is, as "M_2" expands, group 3 will move down to make room for "M_2".
The implicit anchor that would normally be created in the above scenario would be against group 3 with the following print conditions:
    - Print Object On: "Last Page"
    - Base Printing On: "Anchoring Object" (ie: "M_2")
In this case, Group 3 would only print when "M_2" has completed - by the sounds of, this should be the bahaviour you want.
Check the above values against your Group 3. You can always re-set the "Print Object On" property to "Default" to get Reports to create these values for you.
If you have to, you can create an explicit anchor between Group 3 & "M_2" and set the above print conditions manually against Group 3.
    Robin.

  • Linking Analyzer views

I'd like to do the following with the Analyzer:On the 1st view, the user selects his unit with a dropdown field. When he changes then to the other views (4 in total), his selected unit should be active for the tables and charts there. I can link certain cells of a table to other views with the "drill to" function. But the problem is: how can I link a dropdown selection and/or a Page selection? And is there another way to drill to another view than doubleclicking on a cell?Sorry if this sounds confusing, though for you experts out there it should be easy to understand anyway... Thanks in advance!

Try right clicking on the dimension you wish to drill from. When you define the drill link, click the checkbox to pass the filters and/or the page selections from the report you are drilling from to the report you are drilling to.dchurch

    Hi Samik,
I know u tried to explain ur situation but itz not clear(atleast to me).
Iam sure u have no problems in opening a new window with BEx report upon clicking the button.
You can use EPCF's Databag API to store information and read it later(Sort of cache/cookie).
If u can, try explaning more with an example..Hope it helps.

  • How to generate the trace files for remote db link session's?

User are complaining, the db link queries are performing slowness..
how to enable the sql trace session for db link's in remote database...
Is there any way to enable sqltrace for the dblink session ?
if not how to enable the sql trace for entire database level, rather than session based...

An explain plan of the SQL being ran on the local database will review the SQL being passed to the remote db. You can then explain that SQL on the remote db.
I have had to tune a few distribued queries so more than likely the explain plan alone will be enough to allow you to tune the query to improve performance. If not then you can go to the trouble of trying to set up dual traces.

  • Manage Links...

    Hi,
In Discoverer 10g (10.1.2.3) I use links within parameters to navigate through the sheets in the same workbook.
In some cases I use all of the parameters to pass information, and in other cases, I do not use.
When I do not use all of the parameters Discoverer puts <'All'> in the fields and it appear in the query.
Anyone know how can I fix this issue?
    Regards,
    Gustavo.

    Hi Gustavo
Using drill links with optional parameters can be a little tricky.
I would use a Boolean condition on the parameter such that, if you were using a Customer Name for example with a parameter called CustName , a condition would look like this:
Customer Name = :CustName OR :CustName = 'ALL'
I would then have a default of ALL set up for the parameter so that if a user does not select it the ALL will be used and will be passed in the link.
    Best wishes
    Michael

  • Linking using formula column

I've tried several ways of doing this, and this seems to be the easiest way. Basically, depending on the type of record, I need to use one of two columns to link to another query. So, if a row in query A has type 1, I need to use column X to link to query B. If a row in query A has type 2, I need to use column Y to link to query B.
I thought the easiest way to do this would be to create a formula column in Query A that was the value of column X or Y as appropriate and then link to Query B using this formula field. However, I can't seem to link queries using a formula.
Does anyone have any ideas how I can accomplish this? I'm new with Oracle reports, so go easy on me :)
    Thanks,
    Julie.

    What error are you getting?
Is it: REP-1297: Data link child column 'CF_1' must be a database column?
If so, the reason is the child column cannot be a formula column. The parent column, on the other hand, can be a formula column.
If I understand your data model correctly, "A" is your parent query/group and "CF_1" is the formula column in query/group "A".
"B" is your child query. "FK_1" (the foreign key column in query "B") is your child column.
You should be able to link "CF_1" in "A" to "FK_1" in "B" by doing:
    - click on the link tool
    - click on "CF_1" in "A"
    - drag to "FK_1" in "B"
    - A link should be created. Double click on it to bring up the property palette for that link and you'd see the link properties.
    Hope that helps...
