  • Is there a IVI driver for Racal Instruments 1256 switching system ?

Is there any IVISwitch driver for the RI1256 switching system somewhere ? Is NI working on it since RacalInstruments doesn't seems to be interrested in this matter ?

    Hi,
I am not sure how similar the 1260 series is, but we do have IVI drivers for it at www.ni.com/idnet. You may be able to get away with using this driver for your instrument if it is basically the same thing with fewer features.
If not, I would like you to submit a request for this driver at: http://zone.ni.com/idnet97.nsf/instrumentdriverrequest/ and with the instrument manufacturer. We develop drivers based on demand and popularity so the more requests we have for it, the greater the possibility that we will develop one.
If you would like to try developing your own driver, we have documentation, model instrument drivers, and driver templates to help at :
    http://www.ni.com/devzone/idnet/development.htm
We also have a syndicate of third party ven
dors that specialize in National Instruments' products and services. Some of the vendors specialize in driver development. I would suggest contacting one of the Alliance members at:
    http://www.ni.com/alliance
An instrument driver is a collection of functions that implement the commands necessary to perform the instruments operations. In short, someone read the instrument user manual and implemented some of the functionality in a program for the end user. Instrument drivers are not necessary to use your instrument.
    Hope this helps out!
Let me know if there is anythign else I can do for you.

  • Manually installing driver for Oxford Instruments IPS power supply

    Hi!
I am trying to install the driver for an Oxford Instrument IPS 120-10 power supply. I have found the neccesary driver on the Oxford Instruments site:
    http://www.oinst-software.com/OIRI/docs/LV5drv/lv5drv.htm
My problems stems from the fact the copy of LabVIEW is on a non networked  computer, so I have to download the driver on this one and transfer by a USB stick.
The driver was written for version 5.0 and I am operating 8.5, will this be a problem?
How do I install this file? When unzipped I have a collection of .LLB files and one .INI file but no further instructions.
I can't use the "find instrument drivers..." as its not connected to the internet.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks
    Jon

The best place to place an instrument driver is in the instr.lib folder. That way, after re-starting LabVIEW, the functions will automatically appear on your palette.
You will have a mjor problem with the driver though. LabVIEW 8.5 will not open a VI written in 5.0. You would need LabVIEW 6.x or higher to open it and then save it. If you don't have any other version of LabVIEW, you might try posting the driver and ask for help in converting it.

  • Looking for Keyence Instrument driver for LV.

Looking for instrument driver for LV developed for the Keyence LS-7500 series micrometer. Has anything seen any or done this already? Any help would be greatly appreciated. BTW I have already checked NI's listing of instrument drivers to no success.

    Hello-
There are no drivers listed for this instrument at http://ni.com/idnet. You may want to contact Programmed Test Sources to see if they have a LabVIEW driver for their instrument. If they don't, you can easily create a low-level driver by configuring an I/O assistant VI for each function in the manual. Once you have this low level driver you can just combine functions to make higher level VIs. Alternatively, you can hire an Alliance Member to write an driver for you.

  • I need an instrument driver for Neocera LTC-21 Temperature Controller and am having problems sending the IDN? string to the same instrument.

    Hi,
When I use the instrument wizard in LabVIEW 5.0, to indentify a device (Neocera LTC-21 Temperature Controller), I receieve the following error:
    Error.
There was an error sending this string.
    VISA error code returned was:
    -1073807339
Error -1073807339 occured at VISA Read.
    Possible reasons:
VISA: (Hex 0xBFFF0015) Timeout expired before operation completed.
Although, the manual for this instrument states that the response should be a string of characters in the form of "Neocera Model LTC-21 version".
Also, I do not have a driver for this instrument, inspite of checking on the NI Instrument
Divers Network and the company website(www.Neocera.com).
I would truely appreciate if someone can help me.
    Thanks,
    Kunal.

I could not find any drivers for that instrument. You may just have to make your own. As for getting the device to respond, there are a couple of things you can do. If you are using GPIB: First, you might want to just reset the device by turning it on and off. If there are other instruments on the same bus, make sure 2/3 of them have their power on. Try communicating with it through IBIC. Here is a page that will help.
    http://www.ni.com/support/gpib/max/ibic.htm
IBIC communicates with the GPIB on a very base driver level and you set everything manually step by step, so you can see where the break down is. Also make sure you are entering the "*IDN?" and all other commands correctly. Check the device manual to see what commands it should respond to and if there ar
e any special settings you might need. If you are doing serial communication, you may want to check to see if you need a null modem cable for it to function. There also may be a dip switch on the device that switches between serial and GPIB communication.

  • I need a Program or a Driver for the NV 40/1CL

unfortunately I have only LV5 but I hope that anybody can help me

    Hello germannubie,
Thank you for contacting National Instruments.
I was not able to locate a driver for that instrument in our
Instrument Driver Network (for any version of LabVIEW).
You may want to contact your instrument manufacturer directly to
determine if they have developed a LabVIEW driver. I would also
suggest upgrading to the latest version of LabVIEW.
Also, consider submitting a request for that driver at
www.ni.com/idnet. Submitting a request does not guarantee that a
driver will be made for that instrument, but if enough interest is
    shown, it will prompt development.
You can always use the VISA functions in LabVIEW to communicate with
your instrument. If you have further questions, let me know.

  • I need a driver for hp 35660a, does anyone have one?

I am lookng at purchasing an hp 35660A spectrum Analyzer and looked for a labview driver for it and couldn't find one. Does anyone know of any or is it hrad to develop a driver and could you point me in the right direction on how to do this. Thank You in advance!

    Hey Hal,
I have also been unable to find a LabVIEW driver for this instrument, either from National Instruments or HP. If you are wanting to purchase this device, you will need to build your own driver. The process for creating one would depend upon its interface. For instance, is it GPIB, serial, etc.? Once you know this, you will need to know the commands which the instrument accepts and then build VIs which send these commands to the instrument. Then use these VIs as your driver.

  • GPIB driver for NEC omniace RA1100

    Hello,
I want to control a NEC datalogger omniace II RA1100 via GPIB. Does anybody know where I can get the LabView driver for this instrument?
I didn't find them neither on ni.com nor at the NEC website.
    Many thanks in advance,

    Hallo Jens,

  • Looking for HP E1725C driver for Labview 6.1?

want to communicate with HP E1725C by PC over GPIB port"

I haven't been able to find a driver for this instrument anywhere. You may want to contact HP and see if they have one, though it does not look like they do. You will probably need to access it directly through GPIB calls. Use the GPIB VIs to send strings which the instrument accepts. It should have come with a manual or something which supplies the valid strings. Just use those along with the GPIB VIs (actually, I would suggest using VISA) to build your application.

  • Labview driver for agilent 8164A tunable laser

I'm working on a project that involves setting up our Agilent 8164A lightwave measurement system in labview. I cannot locate the driver software on the NI website. Please let me know where I can download the driver for this equipment. Thanks.

Actually we don't have a driver for that instrument in our website, so that means that we also don't have it in the CD. So you may want to check the Agilent's website, or as a matter of surprise, I found in our database one document that was talking about some past issue and it involved the 8166 instrument, so the author attached the driver for this instrument so we can reproduce what he found out, so I'm attaching this file here which is the file the previous Sr. mention, "hp816x", I installed it in my computer and run it and it is an Agilent made driver, so you can use this one or try to contact the Agilent people. Also you may request a LabVIEW driver been made for this instrument, please see the details at: O
ther Driver's Resources from our download site.

An instrument driver is a collection of functions that implement the commands necessary to perform the instruments operations. In short, someone read the instrument user manual and implemented some of the functionality in a program for the end user. Instrument drivers are not necessary to use your instrument. They are merely time savers to help you develop your project so you do not need to study the manual before writing a program.
There are example VI's in LV on Instrument Connectivity. If you go to the Help menu >> Examples.. >> I/O, you will see a couple and Examples.. >> Fundamentals for File and String manipulation. I would suggest tweaking them to suit your application. Also the specific command that your instrument responds to can be found from it's manual.
Some useful resources for your application are
ni.com > NI Developer Zone > Development Library > Instrument Connectivity
    http:/
/search.ni.com/?col=alldocs&layout=TechResources&ql=a , to search examples and knowledge bases
    Hope this helps!

  • Does anybody already developed or knows where can I find a LabVIEW driver for a CETA 800 equipment?

    Ronaldo Schwarz
    Selco Sistemas Eletronicos Ltda

    Ronaldo,
I just did a search of the web (and of NI resources), and I could not find any helpful pages offering information on LabVIEW drivers for this CETA 800 equipment.
The only suggestion I have is that perhaps the manufacturer of the device may have a driver, or may perhaps know of someone who does provide one.
I hope you are able to find a LabVIEW driver for this instrument. If you end up having to write one of your own, you can visit www.ni.com/idnet to find several resources on writing your own instrument drivers.
    Have a pleasant day.

  • Labview Driver for Temptronic TP0412A?

    Hi,
Is anyone aware of any labview drivers for a  Temptronic TP0412A Temperature forcing system. It is GPIB controllable, but I have not seen anything coded in labview.
    Thanks very much
    Regards
    Barry

    Hey Test_head,
Normally, any of the instrument drivers that we make are found at http://www.ni.com/idnet . I've taken a look, and there doesn't seem to be any instrument driver for that instrument made yet. Something I would recommend taking a look at is using the labVIEW<->GPIB.vi example, and using that to build your program from. To get this example, just open labVIEW go to Help->Find Examples->Search for "GPIB"->And choose labVIEW<->GPIB.
This is a simple program that get's the communication going back and forth, and you should be able to copy and paste the VI's in the order you want, using constants for the commands, and the instrument communication could be built from that.
    Good luck!
    Regards,
    Nick D.

  • Labview driver for Rotating Torque Sensor

I'm looking for a driver for a 'Sensor Developments Inc.' non-contact rotating torque sensor 01279 series.
    Any assistance greatly appreciated,
    Al.

Unfortunately I was unable to find a driver for this instrument at http://ni.com/idnet. This leaves you with one of a couple options. It may be possible to modify an existing driver to work with this instrument. Otherwise, http://www.ni.com/devzone/idnet/other.htm states a few options to obtaining a driver. Drivers are developed based on demand and popularity so the more requests, the greater the possibility that one will be developed. It would also be beneficial to notify the instrument manufacturer, they often have drivers for multiple programming languages.
