Droid Eris warranty replacement

Does Verizon still have Droid Eris's to replace, or should I get a Moto Droid/Incredible as a replacement instead?

The phone handles eclair, and even froyo just fine. There is just too much junk added in and I think was somewhat poorly written. The general speculation is that some phones had different components that didn't jive with the software and that's why some had so many issues and some had none. I have a custom froyo rom on my Eris with the bloatware removed and the phone absolutely flies, not to mention with moderate usage I can get a full 24 hours of battery life on a single charge. I will probably still replace it due to the blown speaker, but I love this phone.

  • Facebook won't download on droid eris replacement phone

I just received a replacement phone yesterday for my Droid Eris.  As I was getting things set-up, I tried to install/update the Facebook app.  It goes through the whole process and then says Installation Unsuccessful.  So when I click on that, it says Insufficient Storage Available.  But, 1. it's a new phone and 2. when I check the storage on the phone, I have more than enough.  Therefore, whenever I try to log-in on the widget, it won't let me and pops up saying An Error Had Occurred During the Sign-In.  Please Try Again Later.  I know my log id and password are correct because I can log-in through the browser.  Any suggestions or help??????
    Thanks!!

I understand how important it is to stay connected with friends and family, and Facebook makes it that much easier. I'm here to help.
One thing you can try is clearing out the cache memory on the device for the Facebook app. Go to setting > Applications > Manage Applications > look for the Facebook app and select the clear cache option.
If clearing the cache doesn't help then try removing the Facebook app and re-downloading it.
Hope these suggestions help. If you need further assistance please post back and I'll be more than happy to further assist.

  • Droid eris replacement

My Eris won't start up anymore due to some internal virus or something. Since verizon doesnt hold droid eris's anymore, would I get an incredible instead through the warranty?

If you have a virus, you can actually over come that.Just wipe out everything in the phone. Back up the most important stuff you have (pics,video,texts..etc).  Also you can download the free app called Lookout. That'll scan for virus. Warranty will send you a refurbished device. My guess would be that you would get the motorola droid.

  • Droid ERIS Problems and needing to change to a new phone

I have upgraded to the Droid Eris early this year around March, now at the time Verizon only had the Motorola DROId and the ERIS. I read reviews on the Eris and for the most part they were fair to good most people complained about it beingslow and freezing. So with that in mind I went to the Verizon store to upgrade mainly because my LG DARE just was going bad. I was  told of the ANDROID update 2.1 that was supposed to fix a lot of the problems that the ERIS was having. My ERIS had all of those problems and then some.So I waited and waited 2.1 dropped and the phone got worse freezing issues, calls to people I didn't call, and slow performance. I read all the tips to help like app killer downloads going into "settings" and kill the running apps. But with all that this phone still kept getting the SAME problem. So I have contacted Verizon several times and of cource I get the standard "You have a 1 year warranty to replace the phone with the same phone" so after that I decided to go back to Verizon and change out the phone with another ERIS. It came within 3-5 days and I started it up and the same problems happened again. It's like I never turned in my other ERIS. This is very frustrating now I know I had 30 days to return
my phone If I was dissatisfied, but I was led to believe that the android 2.1 update would fix my phone but it hasn't. And exchanging my phone hasn't helped either. So I am VERY DISSATISFIED with this phone! I need a solution I would like to return this phone and upgrade it to the DROID X mainly because the reviews and most customers I've talked to say that it's a better phone. I don't feel I should have to pay full retail price nor do I want to ad another line to my bill. I would like to pay the 2 year contract price of $199 with the difference taken out of my return of the ERIS. I've been a loyal customer with Verizon ever since they were CELLULAR ONE! I've never missed a bill or had a late payment. I think that I should be an acception for this because Verizon know that the ERIS is not a good phone they don't even carry it in the store anymore.
    Someone let me know something.

  • 6 hr battery life on a Droid Eris out of the box

    Hello eveyone.
I need help I just changed my blackberry storm for the Droid Eris.
Right out of the box and charged the battery lasts 8 hrs tops then it's decresed to 6 hrs.
THhis drop was due to my twitter and facebook usage which is very low and some emails that come in now.  I cant surf the net due to the battery drop.
My old storm would go on for 2 days 1 full day with heavy usage. This is a new phone...what gives?
    Thx.

It isn't the phones fault. It is due to an under amped battery. It is a strong phone that needs more juice. I would be hard pressed to believe the motorola droid or any other android phone has a huge difference in battery time. If there is a huge difference you don't use the phone as much as some of us do then. I purchased the 1750 battery from seido. Would have got the next one up the 3500 if it had been the price it is now. I recommend buying two and an external charger. I am getting ready to buy another 1750 and charger. This will increase the life of the battery for two reason primary reasons. Proper time for charging and the fact it isn't in use makes the charging cycle much better and effecient. I work in a hospital and get my phone searching quite often, from one netowork type to the next. I can get a solid 12 hours with 20% left at thend of the night when I get home. I have FB chat up litterally all the time bloo, I don't twitter that much but I get updates. I get mail pushed via gmail now. I do use wi-fi off and on as well. Since I'm in doors I don't actually leave the gps on, waste of power in general. Any of the newest smartphones have an underpowered battery. BB doesn't use use the web in the same fashion as android does and it isn't multitasking which is one of the big killers ont he phone. Use a task killer, select the improtant apps to ignor and make sure it cancels stocks and mp3 store, waste of cpu there. You can maximize the power you get with the battery you have, but the 3500, will add a small bit of thickness, but who really wants a hardworking model for a phone. She (the phone) just doesn't feel the same. Sorry to ramble so much, but it gets me when people say it is the phones fault or HTC is the cause. I disabled sense UI for a week and used the open UI that android has. I lost an hour and a half on the average daily, so I have to say from doing that and then turning it back on and getting the missed time back sense UI isn't the cause. I didn't notice any extra pps running when I used the open UI so I have no idea why it acted that way. It coudl have been caused by background jobs that the Sense UI uses but wasn't since it wasn't enabled and the services still ran, now that I mention that I need to check that out. It is the wrong battery fo the job, plain and simple. Replace your moto droid batteries and you will see a huge difference too. You can charge the new batteries for less time(4 hours or less pending on charger) and they will say full, but you get bad results when you short change your batteries charge time. To get the most out of my batteries, I charge them for a full 8 hours, the reason I am getting another battery and ext charger with dock.(http://store.androidcentral.com/mobi-products-cradle-w-spare-battery-slot/5A100A6693.htm) and the battery I am getting (http://store.androidcentral.com/seidio-innocell-1750mah-extended-battery/8A37A6399.htm) or the bigger battery (http://store.androidcentral.com/seidio-innocell-3500mah-extended-battery/8A37A6374.htm) You can find better prices but these are for reference. A note on airplane mode: It disable all radios in the phone. You will not receive calls and txt/mms messages. Basically it turns your phone into a PDA. You can enable the wi-fi for access. Since I replaced my battery I don't do it that often but sometimes I find it neccesary to use airplane mode for some of the remote desktop use I do on my phone.

  • Warranty replacement not the same as phone that died

The battery on my Motorola Droid RAZR MAXX HD stopped working properly last week. After taking it to a Verizon store here in the Cleveland area where a tech ran diagnostics, he decided a warranty replacement was in order.  The new phone showed up as promised, but it was not a one-for-one replacement.
The new phone is a garden variety DROID RAZR, not the MAXX HD, had only 16 Gb of memory, and no SD card slot.  My previous phone was a MAXX HD, had a 32 Gb of storage space, and a slot for a 32 Gb SD card that I put in it for photos, videos, and music.
When I called Verizon to complain, the customer service rep said, basically, what you get is what you get. The firm no longer has any of the original models in stock.  I'd already invested four hours in going to the store, changing phones, and slimming down my wireless world. When the CSR told me to call the replacement office, I gave up. I mean, what's the point of talking to customer service if they can't solve an obvious issue?
Not only did Verizon fail to honor the terms of its warranty, it also ignored my protest that having paid insurance for the phone, as I see it I was due a one-for-one replacement, and not just any substitute refurbished model that happened to be in stock.
With the new smaller phone, I've had to strip out a lot of apps that just won't fit in the 16 Gb space.  Sorry Facebook users, but you'll have to see me on the desktop in the evening.
Meanwhile, the new phone comes with unremovable crapware including a caller ID, wallet, and NFL football among others.
I've been a Verizon customer since the mid 1990s. Guess I need to give that relationship some more thought. The current contract runs out next March. I'll look at my options then.
BTW: The manager of the Verizon store sent me a text message asking if Verizon had met all my needs. I wonder if he knows that while he's beating his brains out to make people happy, another part of the business is doing just the opposite?

Sure, but I have no idea what model Curve you have. Look at the top several posts at the top of this link for your exact model.

  • Droid Eris sucks

Does anyone else have problems with the Droid Eris?  This phone is so terrible. Apps shut down for no reason.  Trying to dial numbers is a pain, because of the lag.  This phone is horrible. The IPhone is so much better.  It sucks I have to wait until 1/26/2012 before I can upgrade, Verizon should let me upgrade now, because of how awful this phone is. Currently I am not even using the phone, I am using Google voice on my computer (its free).  If they don't let me upgrade for free,I am just going to do an early terminiation.  I can't believe how horrible this phone is.  The Eris sucks!  ahh feels good to vent.  #$@# the Eris.

Have you tried any troubleshooting?  Numerous people have reported issues like you describe with the Eris after receiving a software update, and many of those same folks reported that many of the issues were resolved when they did a factory reset on the phone to clear any data and applications.  Starting over fresh allows you to install apps one at a time, and may resolve any conflicts, or at least help you identify any problem apps and remove them.
If you call Verizon's 1-800 number, and choose option 3, you will be connected with tech support and they may have other suggestions for you as well.  If they can't resolve your issue, and you have insurance, you could file with Assurion for a replacement device since yours doesn't work.
Finally, you do have the option to activate a different phone on your line at any time.  You can contact Verizon and ask about purchasing a Certified Pre-Owned phone at a reduced cost, or buy a new phone from them at full retail prior to your upgrade date.  You could also look for a used phone from another source and use that until you upgrade becomes available.
If another carrier has the phone and service you want at the price you want, then you should definitely consider paying the ETF and moving to that provider.  Verizon does not meet everyone's needs by any stretch of the imagination.

  • I installed Firefox for Mobile on my HTC Droid Eris but it won't work. Why?

I have an HTC Droid Eris and it runs the Android 2.0 operating system. When I attempt to open it I receive a message that says: "This device does not meet the minimum system requirements for Firefox".
The website states: "Firefox 4 Beta is available for Android 2.0 or higher" so I do not understand why it won't work on my phone.

See this web page for system requirements, and an experimental version that might work on the Droid Eris: https://wiki.mozilla.org/Mobile/Platforms/Android#System_Requirements

  • IPhone 3G warranty replacement service NZ

I have just experienced abysmal repair service for the iphone. It seems it is a New Zealand issue and I am interested to hear if anyone else has had similar experiences or whether this is just a one-off, bad-luck case?
I bought my first iphone 3G outright (at a $1000) at magnummac. It broke 11 months into the warranty period (unable to connect to any wifi network). I started by contacting vodafone, as directed by the apple website, and magnummac, and had to go through a game of being passed from one company to another for several months. In the end I had been in contact with the iphone service desk at vodafone (three times), magnummac (once on the phone, twice I drove to the shop), apple (once at the Genius bar in Paris, once in Sydney, and then on the phone to Australia), phoneinsure and finally mobilephoneRepair (twice in person at the shop and countless times on the phone). Apple eventually agreed that the problem was a hardware defect, extended the warranty (which had off course expired by then!) and replaced the iphone at no cost. It took mobilephoneRepair 24 hours to do this.
I had my second (replacement) phone 4 weeks, when it broke. This time it wouldn't even recognize any wifi network. By now I had done some searching on the internet and it seems this problem is not all that uncommon. I phoned apple direct and was assured it would be covered under warranty. I was given a case number, which would confirm this. However, this was when the truly terrible service started. Vodafone has now changed their after sales repair service provider from mobilephoneRepair to Bright Point. It will cost you $22.50, just to get the phone from one Auckland location to another. There is no option of dropping it off or picking it up yourself, because Bright Point does not deal directly with customers. The entire process of replacing a phone under warranty will take 2-3 weeks. Most of all, you will need to spend hours on the phone, speak to numerous people, explain your situation repeatedly and do all the groundwork of checking warranties yourself, because Bright point has no idea how to do this, or at least those staff dealing with customers queries, don't (and they don't seem to have access to the workshop staff, who need to make these warranty assessments). It has now been almost 3 weeks since I have handed my phone in, with all the details which were necessary to make a warranty replacement, and i still don't have a phone.
I won't bore you with all the sorry details, but I can tell you that everything I say here is true. In most other coutries, the apple Genius bar will deal with apple warranties, but we don't have an apple store in NZ. If vodafone NZ and apple NZ are trialling a new system, they need to know if it is failing miserably.
3 weeks is not an improvement on 24 hours. This is the 21st century, apple and vodafone are both big players in the market and customer service is a big issue for, well, all customers. What are they thinking??
Has anyone else had a similar experience?

    Thanks for the replies.
I agree that apple should sort it out. But that is precisely the problem. We don't have an apple store in New Zealand, so apple seems to be uninterested. I have been to the apple stores in Paris and Sydney, but they won't have anything to do with iphones which were not bought in that country. Even the apple nz website will only allow you to contact their support services if you have bought the phone online from them. For all other iphones, irrespective of where you bought them in New Zealand, apple has conveniently passed the responsibility on to the carrier, which is vodafone in New Zealand.
Both vodafone and magnummac (which is the store I had bought it at) won't fix it either - they pass it on to this third company (Brightpoint), which has been giving shocking service. 3 weeks turnaround for an iphone replacement in the 21st century, is terrible service.
Since when does a big company like apple allow a third rate outfit like Brightpoint to handle their warranty repairs and replacements. Are they not interested in good customer service?

  • Consistant Problems with Google Navigator on Droid Eris

Is anybody else having problems with their Google Navigator on a Droid Eris.  This application stinks - I can never expect it to be there when I need it.  About a month ago I was using it up in Northern Minnesota to get to a doctors appointment about halfway into the hour long drive it told me "GPS signal lost" then it proceeded to tell me "searching for GPS".  It never found the GPS despite the fact that I was in Duluth - a larger city in Northern Minnesota.  I ended up having to call the receptionist and she became my turn by turn navigator - embarrassing. I never had this problem when I had the VZ Navigator it was always very reliable. 9 times out of 10 it doesn’t work or takes so long to find a GPS signal that you get lost!  Are there any tips, tricks or patches for this?  I am seriously considering purchasing a Tom Tom.

Did you get any answers to your inquiry?  I'm having the same problem with my Android LG Ally.  Also want to connect with other users to find out how to get the last verbal instruction repeated.  I miss that from my VZ Navigator.  Is there a trick to triggering it?

  • If I'm Getting my iPhone an Out-of-Warranty Replacment

If I'm Getting my iPhone an Out-of-Warranty Replacment for a cracked screen, do I need to tell them any information? I live in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada and going to West Edmonton Mall to have an out-of-warranty replacment.

I'm assuming this is being done by Apple. Since you're getting a replacement iPhone, you obviously have to provide the them info they request regarding your broken phone and will have to update your carrier with the new info such as the IMEI #.

  • When a warranty replacement in hand, is it possible to change the 4s with 5 by extra fees?

when a warranty replacement in hand, is it possible to change the 4s with 5 by extra fees?

Sadly, life is sometimes unfair. Although, I'm not certain why you feel you would be entitled to any form of upgrade. It is neither stated nor implied in any Apple literature.

  • Droid Eris does not show all apps in Market place

Being inpatient I installed the upgrade software that I got off the internet before the official one came through in May. I am trying to find an app i had on the phone before that but it doesn't show up in the market. I read it's because I have an unofficial version of the software.
How do I get the official. What version should I have on my phone? Right now it says I'm up to date.
    Currently my phone is running
    Firmware version 2.1
    Baseband version 2.41.0402.02
    Kernel Version 2.6.29-564a4a15
    htc-kernel@and18-2 #1
    Build number
    2.26.6305.4 CL140744 release-keys
    Software number 2.26.605.4

Get it here http://androidforums.com/htc-droid-eris/92096-verizons-ruu-official-2-1-droid-eris.html This is the official 2.1 rom from verizon, which is identical to the 3rd leak version. There is also a "market fix" app in the market, but that may just be for those pesky root users.

  • How can I get a Brand New iPhone 3GS as a warranty replacement phone?

    4/26/2011
Does anyone how I can get a brand new iPhone 3GS as a warranty  replacement for my iPhone 3GS? I already had the phone replaced once with a refurbished phone that has a problem with becoming frozen and unresponsive. This occurred ten times since I got the phone on 4/16/2011. I have tried doing a hard reset and have also restored the phone as a new device. I have an Apple Care plan. I am concerned that the refurbished phones will not be reliable due to my experience with the refurbished  one that I got as a replacement.
    Thanks!

Thanks very much for your reply! I have a Genius Bar appointment today maybe they can test the phone to see if they can determine whether or not it is defective.
    Thanks Again!
