Droid RAZR not restarting after factory reset

Hi,
I just switched from my old Droid 4 to my sister's old Droid RAZR, which she had no problems with when she last used it. After switching my number over and such, I decided to do a factory reset to wipe off all her information. However, now it won't restart and it's been over an hour since I did the factory reset. It just sits at the eye-looking page and doesn't go any further. Any suggestions on what to do?

    Hi ejackson18,
I'm sorry to hear that your reset is stuck. I definitely want to get the phone working for you again! Are you able to try the Alternate Methode instead?

I had the windows 8.1 update shown on my app store but due to some problems i factory reset the laptop. when i opened it after the restore i was unable to find the update on my store. Rather it shows 96 apps to be updated

    Hi,
If you want to install Windows 8.1 Update 1, there are two requirements:
    •Windows 8.1 is a prerequisite (vs Windows 8 RTM)
    •KB2919442 is a pre-requisite update - released in March 2014 – you'll need this before 2919355 will be recognized

  • Windows 8 not active after factory reset

I bought this laptop a year ago in US, with windows 8 and was upgradable to 8.1. I upgraded and was using 8.1, until 2 days before when system crashed. I was not able to perform a system restore, therefore did a factory reset. Now when the system boots or when i try to upgrade, its asking for an activation code which I dont have. I was in the assumption that the system restore version of windows should have a valid license key but its not the same in my case .
    please advise.
Additional information: windows update are still working. not sure if this is helpful.
    Thanks in advance for responding.

  • SIM not Valid after factory reset using a non-US SIM card

I bought an unlocked iPhone 5 at a US apple store.  It worked fine for two years until factory-resetting it.  Now, during the setup process I get a "SIM not valid" message. I tried an iTunes restore to no avail.  I called Apple support and was escalated to two different "experts".  I got two very different answers:
Expert 1: an unlocked iPhone can be used internationally but can only go through a factory reset with a US SIM card.  Since you don't have one you will have to come back to the US, get an American SIM card, finish the setup process and then you can get back to using it internationally.  There is nothing we can do here at Apple to bypass this procedure.
Expert 2: Our database shows that your phone is indeed unlocked and is available for use with an Israeli carrier (which is the carrier I am using now).  Either the SIM card is defective or there is a problem with the hardware of the phone.  Please ask for a replacement SIM card from your carrier and if this does not solve the problem you can send it to the US for repair. The repair will be costly.
Obviously neither of them is solving my problem.  Is there another solution?  Is it time to make the switch to an Android device?

Sorry if you have already tried this
Any chance you can ask for a different / new SIM from your carrier?
or even better see if one of your friends / family has a working phone with a nano SIM
Try that temporarily in your phone
If it works = corrupt SIM most likely
If it does not - please let us know and we can brainstorm further

  • OnPlus not initializing after factory reset

After a factory reset the unit is sitting with 2 steady amber lights, it doesn't move from here, it's been left for a couple of hours.
The factory reset is done by holding the reset button for 10 seconds or more then both red lights start flashing for 20-30min then they both turn to solid Amber lights.
The Factory reset has been tried multiple times.
    Any ideas?

    Hi Alan,
The solid Amber lights are part of the power on sequence. If both are steady the power on sequence may be hanging.
    Please follow these steps:
Could you try a factory reset again, this time hold down the reset button for 15+ seconds?
Also, this time could you try this on a different network? The appropriate ports may be blocked and it isn't able to download it's firmware.
f you could write the sequence of LEDs you see after resetting and post that. What do you see after the blinking red?
After trying the above steps and it still fails, an RMA may be required. Please let me know how the steps above turn out.
    Thanks,
    The OnPlus Team

  • 7970 will not load after factory reset

I did a factory reset on a 7970G IP Phone and now it is stuck on boot up. The headset is lit a solid green and the line buttons blink green, top to bottom. The IP Phone has already been swapped for a replacement with the same issue. Anyone know how I can get past this issue?

To reset the 7970 IP phone to factory defaults, perform these steps:
Note: The phone must be on a network that provides an IP address and TFTP server address using Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP), and the phone must be powered through an external power brick. The alternate TFTP setting is erased when using this procedure, requiring that the TFTP server address is provided by a DHCP server to get the phone upgraded.
    Power off 7970.
Power on 7970 (with a power brick) while holding the # key.
The lines lamp should blink amber in sequence. Let go of the # key.
    Press 123456789*0#.
The lamps should blink green in sequence.
The phone obtains IP information through DHCP.
The TERM70.default load loads on the phone.
The phone should recover the configuration file from Cisco CallManager. If not, reset by typing **#** to restore the configuration.
If you do not have a power brick connected while doing the factory restore, the process fails because the 7970 cannot TFTP the TERM70.default load from itself with inline power. If you have a console connected, you receive the CDP: power TLV's not detected - assume low power mode - pwr src = 1 message.
If step 3 does not work, upgrade the phone load to the latest version. Refer to the Software Download and look for these files:
cmterm-7970-sccp.6-0-1-Readme.htm (Readme for Cisco IP phone load for 7970 IP phone)
    cmterm-7970-sccp.6-0-1.exe (IP phone load for 7970 6.0(1) - Compatible Cisco CallManager version: 3.3, 4.0)
If this does not work, perform this procedure:
    Power off the phone.
    Hold down the # key.
While holding #, connect an AC adaptor to the phone.
Continue to hold # until the line buttons blink amber.
    Release the # key.
    Enter 3491672850*#
The lights should change color from amber to red. When this occurs, the phone is resetting to factory defaults.
Note: It is important to try this procedure with a external power supply.
Upgrading the phone load to 6.0(2) should also solve the problem.

  • Windows 8 not activating after factory reset

I recently did a factory reset to my Hp Envy 17. Once i went throgh all the steps and signed in to windows 8 I thought I was done since the product key to windows is embedded in the system BIOS. I noticed a little later that my computer was asking me to activate windows 8. So i went into my setting and typed in my windows 8 product key that came preinstalled on my Envy 17. Once I typed in the Product Key  I got a message that said "Activate Windows. The product key on this PC didn't work. You might need to contact the company that built this computer, or buy a new key." I have tried reinstlling windows 3 different times and tried typing in the product key on windows 8 and windows 8.1, both times the product key was not recognised, and i know i didnt type the key incorrectly or have the wrong i double chcked i had the right key by checking on belarc advisor. I have tried many ways to fix the problem and every time it does not work. It seems as though my key has maybe become corrupt some how. I also still have my hp warranty that came with my laptop if that helps at all.

as far i can tell you and i have not yet restore a pc that is windows 8 yet  but previous versions which i  have had and  never was asked the activation nor it failed to update the pc because it was already activated and stored on microsoft end when you run your computer the first time and also even when i used the extra hard drive and it was window 8.1 iso disc that i got downloaded from microsoft legit-ly from microsoft site  and it appears microsoft recognized my pc because it was related to my email logging on with microsoft email but as  my extra older hard drive from an older defunct pc and when i was upgrading my older vista pc to windows 7 on my second  hard drive on my quad processor pc  it did ask for the product which i have bought from the store and there was no problem with my activation issues with microsoft

  • 3gs not working after factory reset

restored factory settings and now have apple logo on screen and phone is doing nothing please help

If you got this after choosing "Erase all content and settings" in the Reset area of the Settings App on the iPhone the fix is DFU Mode Restore.
But first do a Reset, Hold both Home and Power buttons until the iPhone begins to restart. Usually less than 20 seconds.
If nothing, then DFU Mode Restore.
With iTunes open on Computer, connect iPhone, hold both Home and Power buttons for exactly 10 seconds, release Power button, keep holding Home button until iTunes recognizes iPhone in Recovery Mode. This is usually less than 30 seconds more time. If the iPhone screen is now blank, then this is DFU Mode. Restore iPhone Firmware. If you have the Connect to iTunes screen on iPhone this is Recovery Mode, you try the Restore anyway. If it works great, if not try again to get DFU Mode as I described. Even experienced users can have trouble getting DFU Mode, just keep trying you will get it. DFU = Recovery Mode with blank screen.
If this does not work and you have Warranty or AppleCare Coverage take iPhone to Apple for resolution.

  • Messages on my MacBook Pro is not working after factory reset, how can I enable it?

I just recently (yesterday) got my MacBook Pro Mid-2012 restored after having a few issues with it. So it is totally "clean."
Today I tried to open Messages which worked previously, but it wouldn't let me send a message to anyone (who I could message before the restore) and if I was able to send a message it would show an "Message Can't Be Sent" symbol next to it. I went to Messages > Preferences > Accounts > and saw that my account was enabled but my email used is in a grey font and it will not let me add my iPhone number.
I have signed in and out, deactivated and reactivated the account and I still cannot message anybody.
Please help guide me into fixing this, I have looked at other boards and it doesn't really help me with my predicament. How can I send a message?
Also in the Messages menu, "My Status" is grey and I can't click anything and as well with the "Log In" option. If this can help developing an idea of what might be wrong.

It won't send it to other emails, but it will for phone numbers. Not sure why, but if you can help with sending to other iMessage emails I would appriciate it :-)

  • Windows not genuine after factory reset

    Hey guys,
So i have a Toshiba Satellite A505-S6005 that i have owned all 4 years of college. On sunday i restored my computer back to how it was when i bought it by pressing the 0 key on start up. I followed the on screen instructions and wiped everything to start fresh. Everything went smoothly and i was able to do all 200+ windows updates and my computer was working perfectly. Then on tuesday a window pops up saying that my windows is not genuine. I checked my system properties in the control panel and there its says under windows activation at the bottom "Status not available" and "Product ID: Not Available". So i go to the start menu and try to run "Activate Windows" and i recieve an error code 0xC0020012.
I attached a screen shot of the error message as well as my system properties to show the status is not available and no product ID available.
Please can someone help me with this issue.
    Thank you,
    Michael

  • Cisco 7941G phones will not boot up after factory reset.

Cisco 7941G phones will not boot up after factory reset.
    The following happens.
    1. Speaker light lit (Green)
    2. Phone displays a firmware upgrade page (see attachment) for a few minutes. (Doesn't seems to be upgrading, but it "saids" upgrading)
    3. Saw Cisco logo with a Java Powered page.
    4. The whole thing loops again and again...
I think the reason why the phone isn't booting up is because the phone needs to know where to find the configuration/firmware files from a tftp server. I do have a TFTP server, but normally I need to go in settings to change the alternative tftp server, but the thing is that now I can't even press the settings button...
    Please help.

How many phones were reset and upgrading at one time? What is the setting of the TFTP Maximum Serving Count (Advanced TFTP Service Parm) on each of the TFTP servers?
Sounds like too many devices trying to use TFTP at once.

  • Droid RAZR (not MAXX) 4G, service drops on GB and ICS

Okay, the forums are full of threads concerning this issue. The phone loses data connectivity as well as voice. Every person seems to have a different opinion as to when or where their service drops, and I have tried to find a fix (official or not) since I first got my RAZR.
I got my phone sometime in March 2012 from a Verizon store during a promotion. I was happy I can get a phone with better hardware than my DROID X (awesome phone-best I ever had). I didn't care much about the 4G, but I considered it a perk for upgrading.
    1. A day later I started having problems with my service. The 4G connection would drop, the 4G icon would turn white and then disappear for good. The phone would have no data connection at all but a few seconds later the white 4G icon would reappear and turn blue later. I thought it is because the 4G coverage is spotty as I was constantly moving from one place to another. But I got home (where I never had problems and Verizon service was always excellent) and it would do the same thing.
    2. I have data connectivity and voice service but I turn off the screen. When I turn the screen back on, data connection is lost and I have no service available. I had one error that said "SIM card invalid" or something like that a few times. On Gingerbread I just switched to 3G only and I had no problems. But every time I switched back to use the LTE, I had the same problem over and over.
    3. Upgraded to ICS as I figured Motorola and Verizon worked together to find a "cure" for these sudden service losses. I was wrong. With ICS it is even worse. I lose data and voice service very often. In store, Verizon employees are telling me they have never seen problems like mine (liars?). On the phone with CS I am told they do not know of any issues similar to mine. But forums are full of threads of people having the same issue. Answers from VZ employees are not very clear and directs people to a simple Factory Reset, cleaning the SIM card, reinserting the SIM card... basic stuff a monkey could think of too.
    4. Some times after a phone conversation, I hang up and immediately after, my service drops. I have to turn the screen off and then back on after about 5 seconds, the service is still nowhere to be seen, but if I leave the screen on for about 10 seconds, the phone will regain its connectivity to the network. THIS HAPPENS IN 3G COVERAGE AS WELL AS 4G NOW.
Steps taken: Downloaded the Motorola app to Restore Connectivity - did not work, I still have the problem.
Carefully cleaned the SIM card surface making sure there is no static electricity  discharge - did not work, I still have the problem.
Factory reset numerous times  - did not work, I still have the problem.
Removed and reinserted the SIM card - did not work, I still have the problem.
Updated to ICS hoping that would solve the problem - did not work, I still have the problem.
Anything I do I still have the problem.
So please tell me, Does VZ publicly acknowledges there is a problem with DROID RAZR? If yes why do some people inside VZ deny any issues with it while others don't. Aren't they trained or aren't they reading the same training material the others do? Besides that I am not aware of Motorola or VZ taking any responsibility in trying to fix this.Is there a fix in the works? Please if there is any help for people like me, with the same problem, I think VZ should email owners with solutions. REAL SOLUTIONS because it is possible. I receive newsletters for new phones and plans but none to suggest a fix to issues.
And factory reset after factory reset is not working out for me as I use my phone not to txt my friends or send funny pictures of my dog to my neighbor but for business. This is really affecting and annoying me. And yes, I could switch to an iPhone but Android provides me with a great deal of options in my line of work that iPhone does not have. And yes, I could switch to another Android based phone, but I paid for this one and I want to use what I paid money for.
Again... final question is: Is there a fix, a software fix (I think this has to do with software) for this?
    Thank you!

I had EXACTLY ALL of the same issues (plus some Bluetooth issues):
Got my phone in January or February
First instance of this happened about the middle of June (or maybe the third week) for several days before I finally called, believing it was a "hiccup" in the network (still on GB)
Customer Service did some troubleshooting, placed it in "safe mode" to see if it might be an app causing it, factory reset, etc., etc., etc.......
VZ put in a network trouble ticket which seemed to solve the issue (although I don't really know what may have been done) for about a week (now I know that this was a mere coincidence)
About a week or two later (still on GB) it started again; this was maybe a Wednesday
CS troubleshooting, another trouble ticket, etc., etc., and then I finally did a factory reset myself
Friday night (maybe Saturday) ICS is out, and downloaded believing it would fix it.
The problem was resolved briefly (several hours, maybe a full day) and then began again with a vengance
Called, went through all the same humbug, did a couple (or a few) factory resets, and I too, had the "invalid SIM" error show up on the screen out of nowhere ........
Customer Service had me to go to my local Verizon store and get a new SIM (they thought that might possibly be the problem). Got the replacement, and it worked, again, only briefly; just a few short hours later, it was right back to the same old thing........more phone calls
    trouble ticket is still out.......
Was even told by the advance tech support person that on several phones with this very same problem, that he actually saw this resolved by simply creating a different, brand new Google account (instead of the Verizon customer's original Google account) during setup, after a factory reset (don't ask me how......). Gladly, this is one step that I didn't take (that's all I need is one more email account!)
Finally, it was determined that it MUST be the device. I really didn't want another phone as I always keep my phones in pristine condition cosmetically, and there was no reason (as far as I was concerned) to swap it.
Reluctantly, I allowed them to send me a replacement. I say, "reluctantly" because my original was a new device but they would be sending me out a "certified reconditioned, like-new" replacement.
After some trepidation, I decided to go ahead; Motorola would probably take a year to get mine back to me after finding "nothing wrong", or the same year getting me a replacement, should I be lucky enough that my original device would act up for them to see that there actually is a real problem. Verizon, on the other hand could have a replacement to me in two days.
Needless to say, it has been a week (5 days) with the replacement and I have to admit that it absolutely WAS the device that I bought originally. This replacement hasn't repeated the problem, (with the exception of ONE VERY MINOR instance of about a 5 - 15 minute window on one day only), and I'm happy to say that it works like my original device did when I first got it.
I got a call after the 3rd or 4th day (I believe it was the 4th day) with the replacement device, from the trouble ticket people (technician who actually works out in the field maybe?) and was told that they have thoroughly checked the network/antenna/tower here and found that there was absolutely nothing wrong, and that everything is functioning as it should.
This problem was continuously happening at my house, so it was natural that I believed something was wrong with the tower here near my house. I live in a good 3G/LTE coverage area near New Orleans and had no problems whatsoever from January/February through the first part of June, so it was only natural that I thought it must be a problem with the tower.
I thanked him, and told him about the replacement, and he told me that's what he was going to suggest next, and it was the only suggestion that he had left.
Just know that in the course of all of these calls, I was told by at least a few reps (2 for sure) at Verizon that they were aware that this IS a problem on some of the Razr's and Razr Maxx's.
If this is as bad for you as it was for me (and I'm confident that it is), then I would call Customer Service - don't go to a store. Tell them EVERYTHING that has happened, everything that you've done to attempt to resolve it (including the painful process of factory resets), and what I've described here.
If you're okay with a "new" (read: replacement) device, then I'm sure that they can get you a replacement out in short order. As far as it looking new, you would NEVER be able to tell cosmetically that this isn't a brand new device.
I hope that this was able to help you, as well as all the others, with this issue.
Good luck everyone, and God bless you.

Okay, so regrettably, I must report to everyone that the replacement followed suit after only 6-7 days. It lost 4G connectivity and jumped to 3G and that's where it stayed.
So I call Verizon and after a brief conversation, they asked if it was okay for them to transfer me over to Motorola for them to troubleshoot and I said that I'd be more than glad to speak with them.
    Here's the breakdown:
After a lengthy call (an hour and twenty minutes), allowing them to remotely connect to my phone, and the Level 2 Tech seeing for himself that it's on 3G in a full 4G area, he tells me that there's nothing more that can be done.
    WHAAAT?!!!
He said that if I want to send it in to Motorola they'll look at it, and if they did find anything wrong with the phone they'll send me a replacement, but if they DON'T find anything wrong with it (which I'm sure would be the case), they will simply send me my phone back, and that it will be Verizon's network that is the problem.
In this scenario I would need to find a replacement phone to use while my Razr goes to Motorola (for them to find nothing wrong with of course, and blame everything on Verizon's LTE network) only to get it back weeks later and be totally inconvenienced (this has been going on since June).
The last thing he said to me before getting off the phone was that they have similar devices with other carriers and they don't have any of these problems with those devices.
I've started searching the other devices forums here in the Verizon Wireless Community and I'm beginning to see a pattern.  The same issue is happening with quite a few of the other 4G devices so I'm not really sure that another device (different manufacturer) is even the answer.
They have sent me yet another Droid Razr and I can honestly say that this will be the last one. If I can't find a device that will actually keep/hold LTE connectivity then I may have to go back to Sprint.  Their native coverage is nowhere near Verizon's but they also don't have much 4G coverage right now.
If I'm going to have to be on 3G anyway, I may as well pay less than I'm paying now - or at least pay the same and not have to worry about going over on data.I guess we'll see how this replacement works out and go from there.
Anyhow, just know that it may not be a Razr/Razr Maxx problem after all.
Hopefully, they can get this sorted out and we can all get back to life......
