Droid X Backorder Confusion

I ordered my Droid X on August 6th and the site said it would ship BY August 23rd. Now the site says it will ship by August 26th. Does this mean I get mine by August 26th, or does the 23rd still stand for me? Also....what is meant by "BY"? Anyone receive theirs before the "BY" date?

yea. i think a lot of people are getting theirs before the 'by' date. my hubby ordered his on the 24th of july and he was s`posed to get it 'by' august 5th, but got it on july 28th. my mother in law ordered hers on the 27th of july with a 'by' date of august 11th`ish and got hers on august 2nd. i ordered mine on august 9th and no luck on my end so far. the sales rep was very rude and impatient, so i don`t know what my 'by' date is.

what is going on with the backorder on the droid x?? i placed my order on 8-10 and it said online that it would be shipped by the 25th. then it was moved to the 31st and now sept 7! will i still get it by the 25th or am i going to have wait til sept 7???is anybody receiving them as we speak?

so you ordered on the 12th and estimated delivery date is the 23rd?  did you order online or over the phone?  Are you a new customer?  And what region of the country are you in?  Just curious...
    thanks.

Whoa there, buddy.  It's all good.  Just because you see the date changing on the website does NOT mean that they keep pushing your ship date back.  As each day goes by, they move the "ship by" date one day forward as well.  Verizon is giving everyone a 2-week buffer to wait, due to shipments that pending from Motorola.
I ordered my Droid X on August 12th.  I just received my FedEx email with tracking number today, August 19th.  The delivery date is Aug. 23rd, but that's only because FedEx does not deliver on weekends, or it would be sooner.   If you placed your order on August 10th, you should be receiving a FedEx email notification VERY soon.  As I ordered mine two days after you did, and already received my FedEx email, I hope to God yours is on the way.
    Good luck, my friend.

  • Droid Bionic text messages going to wrong people

I have had my Droid Bionic for several months now. It is not rooted and I don't download tons of apps on my phone. I don't use netflix to watch movies or download music. The apps I have are mainly to help me with work. So I'm not app happy just downloading things non stop. This is why I'm confused and irritated. My Bionic has started sending text messages to the wrong people! I had this issue with my Droid X which is why I switched to the Bionic, hoping that after all these years of making smart phones motorola, google and verizon would put a phone out there that actually works like it's supposed to. How much practice do these phone companies need to get their OS right? I don't mind paying a lot of money for something that will make my life a little easier but I get very irritated paying a lot of money for something that doesn't work the way it's supposed to...and at the most inappropriate times. The Bionic has gone from helping to adding to my daily hassles. Is anyone else having issues with text messages going to the wrong people on their Bionics? Have you found a way to fix it? I'm also getting error messages that just started about a week ago...com.motorola.main.service has stopped and then a option to forceclose. The tech support person at Verizon sounded like he had never seen a smart phone before and gave me the Verizon standard technical reply..."do a factory reset". I should not have to reset anything on a NEW Phone! Why don't you fix these problems Google, Motorola and Verizon and in a timely manner?! I know for a fact if I didn't pay for my phone as promised or pay my bill as promised I would suffer the consequences immediately! You cell phone companies are all about getting your money and leaving us customers out here hanging and irritated. If you think my feelings are misguided then feel free to prove me wrong. FIX THESE ISSUES AND FIX THEM IN A TIMELY MANNER! BETTER YET, PUT OUT A PRODUCT THAT WORKS AS PROMISED IN YOUR ADS! TRAIN YOUR TECHS TO ACTUALLY RESOLVE ISSUES INSTEAD OF RECITING THEIR FAVORITE MOTO "Do a factory reset"! When you do these 3 things I will not feel like someone who has been lied to, robbed, and irritated! I am usually a very positive person but after dealing with issues with 2 expensive phones I'm a little upset. Can anyone help me fix my phone?

Go into your settings, Messages and turn on iMessage. It will then send messages that are iMessages to both your iPad and iPhone. You can also turn off this feature on the iPad if you do not want to receive messages on the iPad.

  • Phone upgrade, data plans ... I am SO confused.

The nearer the end of my Verizon contract drew the more research I've done.  I've searched online, on Verizon's website, talked to family, friends and total strangers.  The more I research the more confused I become. Please allow me to think and wonder outloud in what follows.  Perhaps someone here can help?
Do I want an iphone ... or a Droid ... or the Thunderbolt?  While I have read hundreds of online articles and posts about all of them I remain confused.
My sister insists I will love the iphone.  At home I spend virtually all my free time on my computer.  I am, I admit, a computer addict.  But all of my computers have been PCs.  I know nothing about - nor do I want to learn - about Apple.  My sister's son is a Mac fan and I am sure he teaches his parents about their iphones.  Will I have a problem learning the iphone?  Do I have to have an itunes account just to activate my iphone?
On the surface the Droid looks more appealing to me.  But I know nothing about it.  And I've read a lot of posts here pooping the Android.
Since I live in a 4G area and Verizon seems to be pushing the Thunderbolt, I've taken a look at it.  How does it compare to the iphone or the Droid?  I've read many negative posts on these boards about the 4G network.  (I do take all message board posts with a grain of salt.)  But, I wonder, why would Verizon introduce their 4G network yet offer only ONE phone which works on it?  And, I wonder, will there be an iphone 5 this summer which is 4G? ... should I put off my decision to upgrade until this summer -- or is the introduction of the iphone 5, whenever it may happen, only going to add to my confusion?
Unlimited data plans: I was told (by some source I cannot recall) that an unlimited data plan is $30/month for the 3G network and $50/month for the 4G.  Both reviewing Verizon's website and speaking on the phone with a Verizon representative I am lead to belive the cost is $30 for either unlimited 3G or 4G.  True?  I would/will pay an increase to my bill of $30/month for unlimited data but not $50.  What is the truth about Verizon's 3G vs 4G network?
Lastly: maybe I'm to sensetive.  Maybe I expect too much.  I've been a Verizon customer for ten years.  As my 2 year contract neared it's expiration I truly expected Verizon to send me some email or snail-mail which both thanked me for being a customer and offered me an incentive to continue my service with them.  I have received not one word.  I realize I am one small minnow in a vast sea ... but don't we small minnows make up Verizon's vast sea?
I do hope that at least some of my confusions will be addressed, understood, and answered by you nice folks who monitor these boards.  Please, no techno-babble.  I've read the pcworld and cnet articles.  And I've read many verizon community messages.  If you reply, please do so using simple terms.  I am so easily confused!
    Thanks!

Thank you, both, for your easy to understand replies.  Please allow me to ask (thinking out loud) a few more questions.
Against my family's urgings, I've pretty much decided against the iphone.  If I'm going to take the leap from my old, trusty flip phone into this decade's smart phone I want to jump in full-throttle and get a 4G device.  So, first, a few questions about them....
The two that perk my interest -- and which I've been comparing online -- are the Thunderbolt and the DROID Bionic.  The latter I cannot find on Verizon's website.  Has it not been released yet?  They both seem to compare similarly.  Are there any (notable) differences between the two?
Understanding that new technology (4G -- and the devices which go with it) can be problematic, is one better to wait a few months until "bugs" are worked out -- or is there really no reason to wait?  (I realize that before I can post this message "today's" technology is already outdated!)
Whether rightly or wrongly, I continue to think of a "smart phone" as my Windows based computer: when an upgrade or "fix" is available I download and install a Microsoft update and it's "fixed."  Is the same true with a phone -- that a "fix" is available via a simple software download ... or do some "problems" require a whole new phone?
I was, mistakenly, under the impression Verizon's unlimited data plan was $30 on the 3G network and $50 on the 4G.  I have been corrected and understand it is $30 on both/either.  But I note other carriers charge up to $80!  Question is, is Verizon apt to raise their price in the near future?  Is there any reason to be in a rush to lock in a $30/month unlimited data plan?
Being a miser, I continue to look for the best deal.  As I mentioned in my original post, when the expiration of my current Verizon contract expiration date neared I expected to receive some promotional offers/deals.  I have received none.  My sister (pre-ordered) an iphone -- and received a $100 credit off the price of $199.  When I telephoned Verizon the representative stated she had never heard of any discounts on any phones to anyone!
Another example.... When going to Verizonwireless.com I am offered a price of $250 for the Thunderbolt (with, of course, a 2 year contract).  But when going to another, "outside," company they offer it for $200.  Why?  Specifically, why doesn't Verizon seem to offer the BEST deals/prices to their existing, long-time customers?  I really don't get it.  I have been with Verizon for ten years.  I am going to upgrade to a smartphone (which means my monthly bill will increase by at least $30), and I will probably remain a Verizon customer for life.  So, is it unreasonable to think I might hope for some kind of "deal" that I know others have received?  If not, where do I look for -- and find -- them?
Lastly, is there an option on Verizon's forums to notify me of replies via email?
Thanks again, in advance, for your input.
BTW, how can "iphone," "4G," or "DROID" not be in Verizon's spell checker?!?

  • What Are My Data Options for Droid 2? What About Texts?

I'm looking over the available plans and I'm really confused.
I've had the same plan pretty much for the past 15 months but I started with a Blackberry. Now I have a Droid 2 and I REALLY need to find a way to shave off some money from this bill.
My bill is always $118 and change with never goes above $119.
I have 900 minutes, was gonna take it down to 450 but viewing my usage I have been around 431-445 the past 3 months. I also have $10 for texts which I hate, I thought there was a $5 text plan?
Insurance, yes, have to because I can't afford a landline and don't have a house to put it in anyway.
I tried to get out of my contract with Verizon when I first became really sick. They were having none of that. I have been sick since September 2010 (symptoms 3 years) and the doctors have been running tests to find out what's causing the problem.
The tricky part is I cannot work anymore, used up everything I had in savings, and even sold my car to have money to pay for medical bills. Now I'm stuck trying to get state health insurance and am without a place to live.
I don't have income from any source but a lot of debt.
I wish Verizon would work with me as even when I can't buy food, I make sure bills are paid because I need that phone on so I doctors can reach me.
I'm not sure how long I'll be unable to work and when I can not sure how long it will take to find work.
I asked them if they could take the Droid 2 back and let me have a regular phone with no data and they said "no, you'll have to pay full retail price for the phone". I believe that was over $500 (no mention of the $179.99 I paid for the broken Tours)
Now here is the back story which really **bleep** me off that they could have screwed me twice:
The only reason I have the Droid 2 is because when I upgraded after my 1st year with Verizon, I got a Blackberry Tour. That phone had so many problems I had to keep taking it in every month for a replacement. Verizon refused to exchange for a different Blackberry.
I even called RIM and they said they had "design" issues with the Tour and it's being taken off the market with the phone carriers, they said Verizon should be allowing you to get a replacement phone of same or lower cost (another Blackberry).
Well that never happened and I had to file an FCC complaint before corporate finally called to help me. I even told them the "NEW" Tour I paid for when I signed a new contract was refurbished because when I tried to send the info in for the rebate, I got an letter stating that particular phone already received it's rebate.
I should have stopped it right there, given them their used phone back and walked away but I'm thinking they are working with me and gave me the rebate ASAP, it will be OK.
WRONG!! 6 months into the contract with the **bleep**ty Tour not working and 6 replacements, they agree to give me another phone for $50. I said drop dead, no more money from me for your issue.
Then they said OK we'll give you a phone of the same value at no charge. So not knowing how the Bold was gonna work yet, I went with a Droid 2 as the Droid 1 had been out awhile and bugs worked out.
Now here is the real kicker in the whole story. After they mailed me the new Droid, I was online paying my bill and noticed Verizon re-set my contract start date from January 2010 to August 2010.
No one told me that and I couldn't get anyone to help fix that mess, they said you got a new phone, what else do you want?
What do you think happened about 2 months after I get the Droid 2??  Yes, Verizon changed the policy and replaced the Tours with the Blackberry Bold for no charge and no contract extension.
Had they told me that, I would have used my old Blackberry for 2 months and gotten the Bold and be closer to getting out of this stupid contract.
I don't know, they make it so hard for honest people who have hit hard times and dealt with bad phone after bad phone to just get a fair break.
I asked so what happens if I just want out of the contract and they said it would cost like $350. If I had $350 I wouldn't be typing this. I suppose I can fake my own death and get out of the contract that way. They make no concession for persons who become disabled and can no longer work. I don't know how long I'll be "disabled" or if I ever won't be "disabled" but I like to think things will get better.
Any ideads would be great. I did talk with someone at UCAN, they help people in CA get out of cell contracts when they have extrordinary circumstances and they gave me a number for a lady at Verizon.
I called that women for 4 months every single day, 4 times a day. She never answered her phone or called me back, ever!
So guess I work on becoming dead since that's my only option. I will never, ever, ever sign a cell contract as long as live, if I live.
I don't mean to sound like such a bitchy customer, I really feel I was screwed from the start of this contract and the screws keep coming!

Not sure why you posted this in the iPhone forum but sorry you're having such a difficult time. With that being said, unfortunately, VZW isn't obligated to assist you in difficult financial times although it would be great if they did. As far as you wanting to get into a non-smart phone to lessen your bill...you will have to look into alternative ways to obtain one if you want to avoid paying full retail. Do you have any friends with Verizon? Check and see if any of them have an old phone that they don't use. Lower your plan to less minutes and actively monitor your usage. Save non-essential personal calls until after 9:00 pm on weekdays if you're calling non-verizon customers. Even without a house phone it is not difficult to get by on a 450 min plan without going over your minutes. My mother did it for 5 years and never once went over her minutes nor did she have a landline phone to use. Text when possible to avoid using minutes. If you stay with the Droid then try to find texting apps or widgets that can help eliminate the need for a text plan. You can also check into services like Skype that can allow you to make free calls to other users...some of your friends may gladly subscribe to those services so that you can communicate and use less plan minutes. You should also talk to VZW to see what lower plan options you have.

  • Video upload from Droid X to computer....file extension .3gp not recognized be any of my players.

I uploaded a couple of video files from my Droid X to my computer.  They have and extension of .3gp.  None of my players will recognize them.  Can anyone help with this?

Sorry, bud....didn't mean to confuse you.  I plugged in my phone to my computer and uploaded 3 video files from the phone to the computer.  The apps that I have on my computer (Windows Media Player, QuickTime, Irfanview, etc) will not play the files. The file extension is .3gp.  I have associated .3gp with each one of the players and they just will not open a .3gp file.  I downloaded several video converters to see if I could change the extension, but the converters will  not recognize the .3gp extension either.  I'm thinking that there is a codec (not really sure what a 'codec' is????) that is missing from the original phone files and my computer software(s) cannot 'unzip' the files.  Guess I'm just screwed.  I've tried everything I can think of.
Since my phone is dependant on Google, I thought maybe the Mobile Video Player Pro app would go thru my gmail and I would be able to copy it to my computer.  Wrong!!!  The app downloaded directly to my phone, so, 'screwed', again...lol.

  • Not receiving automated messages correctly for Droid

Is there a current problem with Droid not receiving automated messages correctly from short 5 digits numbers for example my dentist office sends out reminders for my appointments and  they are not sending correctly I have included an example below of what it looks like below. You will see that there no message. I have put the message below of what I should have received from my dentist. So you can understand why people are confused and calling our office back wondering when there appointment is . (Yes, I work at the office and a patient
    [10] 11 (Thu). Thanks! {edited for privacy}
    Sammie, Reply with "YES" to confirm your appt at 10:00AM on 3/24/11 (Thurs). Thanks! {edited for privacy}
Is this something that can be fixed. Becasue I know that majority of ourpatients have Droids has it is a very popular phone and we are getting numerous complaints!
I will be looking forwrd to a response!

Well what's also weird is I'll send/receive other sms messages and there won't be any problems. But then, out of no where, my phone will get sms messages that are a few days old. I move around plenty in my area for work or other reasons so it's not like I stay in one location all the time. Also, I have Verizon and they have great coverage in my area anyway.

  • DROID X SELF REBOOTING?????

Ok, I got my new Droid X on September 9th and since I've had it the phone seems to reboot itself 3-4 times a day without reason.  I call verizon to tell them the problem and i get "its news to us"...Strange as I read several forums about many people having the same issues and verizon is replacing the phones....So how can they say they know nothing about the problem.....smh........Hey Verizon....Just admit their is a problem and FIX IT!

Here is a nice rule of thumb to consider, when you are having issues with a device and are using a number of applications installed, save yourself confusion and try hard resetting the device. A number of users blame the device before they isolate other possibilities, if you had a device show a issue and the unit is replaced and the new device has the same issue this should be clear that the device most likely not causing the issue.
Try removing all installed application and see if issues stop because incompatible software is usually the nature of rebooting.

  • How to use SIM card in Droid 2 Global?

So I have a Droid 2 Global because it has SIM card capabilities. I called Verizon to allow international roaming. Then I got the unlock code for my phone. Next I put a new-bought SIM card from China Mobile into my Verizon Droid 2 Global.
However, when someone calls my China Mobile phone number, my phone does not react. The caller hears a prerecorded message that the China Mobile phone number is incorrect or not connected.
When I call with my Droid 2 Global with the China Mobile SIM card inside, the receiving person sees my Verizon phone number.
My question is: How do I get my Droid 2 Global to recognize and use my China Mobile SIM card?
I don't want it to use my Verizon phone number while I am overseas. I like my Verizon service in the U.S., and I plan to return to it.  I just thought the idea of a global phone with a SIM card was to be able to travel to other countries and use another SIM card if need be, and the sales representatives at my local Verizon store sold me this idea of international usage. Other users seem to have no problem. Please inform me of how it works
    Thank you!

Hi mortb, thanks for your input.
However, that is not true about SIM cards. You can find accurate information about SIM cards through your search engine or even Wikipedia. SIM cards are meant to be swapped out. SIM cards are used in Europe and Asia more than the U.S. "The SIM card allows users to change phones by simply removing the SIM card from one mobile phone and inserting it into another mobile phone or broadband telephony device" (Wikipedia- SIM cards).
A SIM card holds the prepaid account value, telephone number, the user's address book, call logs, texts, etc. A lot of websites give the analogy: Say your phone is dead but you need to make a call. You can use your friend's cell phone with your SIM card and call. You won't be using your friend's minutes, but your own because you are using the minutes from your SIM card.
In my case, I want to use a local cell phone provider to make local calls. Theoretically speaking, I can do so if I swap out my SIM card for a local network's SIM.
Now Verizon locks all its phones to their Verizon SIM cards, so Verizon phones can only use Verizon SIM cards, but the Droid 2 Global allows you to unlock your SIM, meaning that you are going to put in another SIM card, aka another cell phone service provider.
So I am confused why I cannot use another carrier's SIM card. Can anyone explain why? Or what can I do to sync my China Mobile SIM to my Droid 2 Global?

  • Delay in Shipment of Droid X

I ordered the Droid X from a Verizon store on August 1st and was told when I called customer service on the 2nd that my shipment date would be August 5th.  I called today since I had received no shipment verification and was told that the shipment date has been pushed to the 23rd of August.
I am very much disappointed with the level of service provided by this company.  I will never do any business with them again!  Had I known or at least been told initially about the delay in shipment instead of being given false shipment dates  I would of never purchased this phone.  I eagerly await receiving my phone, but I don't expect to receive it anytime soon, but I do expect calling customer service everyday until I receive the item that I have already paid for.
The least they could of done is provided some incentive to Verizon customers for having them wait on receiving PAID orders instead of placing the blame on the manufacture and expecting customers to sit on their hands waiting for an item they have already paid for in full.
As soon as my contract is up with Verizon I intend to cancel my plan with them.  Very bad experience! Will never do business with a group that provides false information to thier customers as Verizon!

This backorder crap is becoming rediculous, this is becoming a practice with all carriers... They under order (23 Devices per store on release day, are you serious) on the devices that they know should sale well and then tell you that you can order online with free next day delivery and recieve it in a day or two but after they took your order and your money they then report back that your order is on back order at least a few weeks and if you decide to cancel order you have to jump backwards through hoops to even get them to concider a refund.... This is exactly why I am not open to order a replacement for the volume issue because I would snap if I recieved a used unit with the same issue as the original device and possible other issues.. I paid for a new device and I do not want to trade my new device for a "Like New Device" after having device for so little time, and even better I will have to be on a backorder status to recieve a replacement, this is more reason for me to believe that the device I will recieve will be a used device not a new one.
And then to add insult to injury, they are starting to request customers to pay for device a second time to have a replacement sent out (And refunded after original device is returned) when the issue that the customer may be having is caused be the product that they bought that was flawed... I have no real complaints about my Droid X but the level of craziness dealing with the sales and replacement of this device is getting out of hand in my view.

  • Keeping unlimited data buying used phone confusion

Hello, looking for a little help and clarity here if possible. I have an unlimited data plan from years ago and would like to keep it. I have been using one of the first motorola droid phones and it is just way out of date with the 3G. I understand that I can keep my data plan if I pay full price for a new phone or buy a used one from swappa, ebay, etc. I've decided to buy a used phone but I want to make sure that the phone I buy will work properly at 4G while keeping my unlimited data plan. I am mainly confused by CDMA and GSM and HSPA+ and LTE and unlocked etc. I know to buy an official Verizon phone, but when I look at the specs, they all are different. Some use CDMA, some use GSM, some use both. Then there is HSPA+ and LTE Does any of this matter? Will I be able to use any of those phones and upgrade to 4G as well, as long as they have the Verizon stamp? Or is there a specific criteria I need to be aware of in order for everything to go smoothly? I hope the questions make sense.
A little clarity on this is much appreciated, and any other crucial info I might be missing. Just want to make sure I don't make an expensive mistake.
    Thanks so much

Thanks for the detailed reply. I've found that I almost always have signal using Verizon, when friends standing next to me do not using other carriers. Will using a GSM/Verizon phone limit my signal service?
Here are a couple I am looking at. Thanks for taking a look.
The description for both of these say they are factory unlocked...

  • Replacement droid issue....

I got a droid 1 replacement phone from asurion 9/27. Problem: No SD card! They are on "backorder". I was assured that I would get a SD card mailed to me within 10 days. Its been about 3 weeks and nothing. My phone was lost( I had thought stolen). It was returned to me today. Another problem: Got old phone back, can't transfer SD card to active phone without losing all data on SD card. So now I have a activated phone, No SD card. And my old perfectly fine droid with SD card and all pictures and music. Hmmm.... What to do.

    Hey Now.
Been there done this. Although my phone was not returned. It was in fact stole.
Anyhoots, asurion isn't interested in you sending back the replacement phone?
I would assume they would be ok with this..considering your first device was in fact returned to you and not stolen.
I would send back replacement (contact asurion first) and activate your old device, by contacting Verizon on a land line or another cell other than yours.
    Good Luck.

  • Is Droid Mini a global ready phone?

I'm planning a trip to Canada. I'm receiving conflicting information from Verizon on whether my Droid Mini is global ready or not. The International Trip Planner tells me You can use the DROID Mini 4G LTE Black to voice, text and data in all selected countries. Wireless Coverage in Canada and Mexico will be improved using a Global-Ready device. If you're upgrading, we recommend 4G LTE Global-Ready device. When I log in to My Verizon and navigate to My Global Device & Services, I am not able to select any global service for my Droid Mini, and I see the message This phone is designed to run on the network technology available in the US and more than 25 other countries (primarily in North America, the Carribean and some Asian countries). It's not designed to roam in the majority of international countries. The paperwork and manuals that I received with my Droid Mini indicate that the Droid Mini is a global ready phone that can be used in more than 200 countries.
So, is the Droid Mini a global ready phone, and will I be able to roam on GSM networks in Canada with 3G data service, rather than 2G?

        mrmike123,
A trip to Canada sounds very fun! No worries with your phone - Canada uses the same technology we use here in the USA, which is called CDMA, and your phone absolutely supports it. In addition to that, many other countries support a technology called GSM, and your phone is able to connect to that as well. If you refer to the specs listed for your phone you will see both CDMA and GSM band frequencies listed under the Network section. Canada has started utilizing some GSM technology, and that may be where the confusion is coming in to play, but either way your phone will be able to be used while traveling.
Your line may need to have a free feature called International Dialing added to it before your trip so you can use your phone outside of the country. Please give us a call at 1-800-922-0204 and we'll make sure you've got it!

  • Unable To Send Videos With My DROID RAZR-Please Help

Why can't I send videos I've taken with my DROID RAZR in a text message?

Yes I've tried email & that works fine.  I may have the settings for the video wrong & maybe it's too big I don't know.  All I do know is when I try to add a video as an attachment to my message it tells me the I can't add the video to my message & other times it does tell me the video is too large but when I try to resize the video it does not seem to work.  I don't know...I'm confused with this phone.  I love the phone but this is the only problem I have...any advice is appreciated.
