DROID X SELF REBOOTING?????

Ok, I got my new Droid X on September 9th and since I've had it the phone seems to reboot itself 3-4 times a day without reason.  I call verizon to tell them the problem and i get "its news to us"...Strange as I read several forums about many people having the same issues and verizon is replacing the phones....So how can they say they know nothing about the problem.....smh........Hey Verizon....Just admit their is a problem and FIX IT!

Here is a nice rule of thumb to consider, when you are having issues with a device and are using a number of applications installed, save yourself confusion and try hard resetting the device. A number of users blame the device before they isolate other possibilities, if you had a device show a issue and the unit is replaced and the new device has the same issue this should be clear that the device most likely not causing the issue.
Try removing all installed application and see if issues stop because incompatible software is usually the nature of rebooting.

  • Droid 2 Self Rebooting

My wife has the Droid 2 and she absolutely enjoys it but it keeps cutting off by itself. Sometimes it reboots other times it just cuts off and she has to remove the battery in order to get it to reboot. Has anyone else had this problem? What can she do any suggestions?

You will likely get better results by posting this question in the Droid 2 section.
With that said, it sounds like she either has a hardware problem, or more likely a problem with an app she has installed.  Remove which ever app was installed directly before these problems occurred first.

  • Computer Self-Rebooting After 10.6.5 Update

This morning, my computer prompted me to update to 10.6.5. Since then, the computer has self-rebooted twice when idle. I have never run into this behavior before with any version of Mac OS. Any suggestions on what to do at this point would be greatly appreciated.

Well, I may be showing my naivete here, but shouldn't it be free with AppleCare?
Most Original MBPs are beyond the 3 years when AC would still be active, so I didn't think to ask if the MBP was covered under extended AppleCare coverage. Even while covered by AC, I've never had a callback, but I'm sure they'll ask for a credit card number if it does cost, and then you can decide.
As far as SafeBoot is concerned, I may try that next.
No harm trying, and will clear out some caches that may not have been cleaned in awhile.
So far, it has not rebooted itself since the permissions repair.
And another school of thought: don't fix what ain't broke. So you may wish to just run things as they are and if the problem stops, no worries.

    Hello,
    I don't think it is a kernel problem but a h/ware problem.
CPU 1 reported an ecache (sram) data parity event,
the fault handling code in 5.9 can't do anything about the
error as it is in a page belonging to a user process so it reboots the box.
The no error found in ecache means that either the
fault handling code displaced the error from the cache or there
wasn't one and you had a transient transport error between the
    cache and the cpu.
I would engage your h/ware support vendor to work out what h/ware component is broken as these things are quite complex, but the score of 95 would (to a h/ware novice like me) point to cpu 1 being the culprit - but check with an expert.

  • Spontaneous self reboot deleted all my contacts

Like many other DROID 2s here, my droid likes to reboot itself often.  I'll be sitting at my desk and little R2D2 will poke his head up to say hello.  He also likes to do it when its really inappropriate, like meetings and church.  He delights in rebooting himself if I am using my droid to take notes or something else that is important and requires him to be a bit stable.  In fact, he's rebooted himself once while I was typing this.  I'm not even touching the phone.
Apparently these little pranks are not good enough because last night he decided to reboot and wipe out all my contacts.  I tried to synch from the website, but that has been ineffective.  I tried following the directions on the Backup Assistant page, but it tells me to hit the "restore" button.  My backup Assistant doesn't have a "restore" button.  There's a synch button, a dropdown menu to change the automatic synch times, and a dropdown to change my PIN.  It also says 1.0 in the top right, so I may be using an older version.
    For now, my questions are:
How can I restore my contacts?  Do I need to update backup assistant?  If so, can you provide a link?  I appear to be unable to find it in the marketplace.
I'll leave the question about the reboots for another time.  There are enough people reporting that one that I'll just read the existing threads.
    Thank you for your time.

    Hi Demonwolf:
We want to avoid master resets whenever possible, so I recommend the below steps to get your contacts back.
    1) Ensure your contacts were backed up using the Backup Assistant site.   If they are listed on the site, we can get them back to the phone by following the below steps. If the contacts aren't in the trash on the site or listed at all, skip to step 2. If you do see them on the site, please place a call to the number ##282778. This should force a start of the Backup Assistant app and prompt you to restore your info.
    2) See if your contacts are on the Gmail website.  Go to www.gmail.com > Log in> Click contacts. If all of your contacts are here, you can get them back on the phone. You can do this by clicking Settings> Accounts> Gmail Account> Check or Uncheck and Check Sync Contacts. This should force a communication sync with Google.
    3) If options 1 or 2 haven't resolved your issue, please go to your contacts icon> Press the menu key> Choose display options> Make sure Google is checked.
Please try those steps and let us know if any of them worked.
    Thanks,

  • Droid Maxx keeps rebooting after software update

Since the upgrade on 11/1/14 to 23.3.24, my droid maxx keeps rebooting. It has done this about 15 times since yesterday evening. Any ideas as to what could be causing this? It is also telling me that I need my GPS on and set to high accuracy mode in order to detect my location. Before the upgrade, I only turned my location on when I used the navigation app. Any ideas?

The Latest update is suppose to get the Phone prepared for Verizon's voLTE  it's hard to say how long it will be till all is functioning correctly with the system and the phones but, if your issues continue & it makes the phone unusable then I'd see if you can get another Droid Maxx hopefully one with out the new update..
My Current: Version is 21.11.21. my Maxx is still running with no issues

  • Droid X constantly rebooting

I am wondering if anyone else has had the issue of their droid X rebooting on its own?  I have had my unit since launch day and fell in love with it out of the box.  Until I did the recent software update and since then my phone has been doing random reboots. I have called VZW and they are shipping me a brand new phone as part of the 30 day guarentee but until then I am looking to see if anyone knows of a fix to my issue.

They'd be shipping you a brand new phone even if out of the 30 day guarantee due to the fact that you have a 1year warranty as well as their are no Refurb units available yet.  I always add the additional 1 year warranty to my touch screen phones as well.
As for your resetting unit, install a Battery App and check the battery voltage.  Just for a quick reference, mine shows 90% Charge at 4156mV.  It could be that you just have a bad battery.

  • Droid Pro keeps rebooting itself, what makes it do this?

Just got this Droid Pro and it is constantly turning on and off all the time, why?

        Hello there Cnsoldsigns!
I want your Droid Pro to be a pro and stay on! This is definitely not a normal function of the device. You mentioned you just got the phone.
Was it an upgrade? Did you get it from a buddy? Perhaps it has some apps on it that are causing it to shut off. Check for any Task Killers, Antiviruses, or Battery Savers and uninstall them, then reboot!
Keep me updated so we can fix this together!

  • Droid RAZR continuous rebooting

A few days ago my Droid RAZR wouldn't connect to the mobile network and then proceeded to reboot continuously. I've hard reset it, checked all recent apps and cleared their cache's, checked the device in safe mode. Does anyone have a solution to this problem?

        @stevomccls
It concerns me that you're having this problem with your Motorola Droid RAZR!  I would love to assist you with your wireless issue.
Just prior to this happening, had you installed any new applications or performed any device software updates?  How did the device respond while it was in Safe Mode?  Please let me know so that I can further assist.  Thanks!

  • Droid 2 Global Reboots & Blank Screen issues

This is my second Droid 2 Global.  The first one was replaced within the 30 day purchase period due to a battery charging issue.  Verizon tried replacing the battery (that gave an 1 hour a day more), tried extended battery, no change, could only get 5-6 hours life a day even with the extended batter.  Replaced the phone a week ago with 2nd one, brand new, and now have several issues except the battery. The battery life is great, get a full day, 7 AM - midnight, and rarely goes less than 30%.  But, new issue developed:
    1.  Screen will just go blank at random times, and cannot get the screen display to work without pulling the battery.  Even hitting the off button on the top, it will not turn off or restart.  A call can come in, if I guess where to hit on the screen, I can answer it or with my bluetooth headset.
    2.  Frequent reboots, but short ones, not the full on one.  Today as an example it rebooted 5 times, every 1-2 hours. It will do it in the middle of a call, ending the call, or even when it is just sitting idle.  Another time, I was starting to dial a number, or look up a contact, and boom, reboot.
    A couple of notes,
    1.  the first Global 2 did not do that, just had a charging issue with the phone.  But the apps were exactly the same.  Yes, it would do a reboot, but a full one randomly once a week or so, but not every other hour.
    2.  I am not new to Droid, I also have an original one purchased over a year ago, same apps.  I just replaced it 30 days ago or so.  It rarely rebooted.  I just replaced it because it was too slow in response and the battery was starting to age.
    3.  Been removing Apps that I have been running successfully for over a year thinking one of the updates started this, but I am running out of possibilities.
Any suggestions other than a full factory reset.  That just does not make sense I would have to do that since the phone is only 7 days old, and it has been doing this since its birth.

I understand your frustration in this matter. I suggest completing a master reset of the device. Please back up the phone's information on your PC before the reset, since you will lose the data and the phone will be restored to factory settings. I have included the steps for the master reset below.
    Turn off the phone
Power on phone while pressing "X" key on qwerty keypad - release "X" and power key after you see Motorola batwings.
You should now see an "!" in a triangle with Android guy
Press the "Search" key on qwerty keypad to enter factory menu, this will unhide the menu and show the following options
    Reboot system Now
    Apply sdcard:update.zip
    Wipe Data/Factory Reset
    Wipe Cache Partition
Use Vol Up / Vol down to navigate to "wipe data/factory reset" and then use Camera side key or Menu key to select "wipe data/factory reset"
Use Vol Up / Vol down to navigate to  "Yes delete all user data" and then use Camera key to select "Yes - delete all user data"
Wait for operation to complete (maybe 1 minute or so) and then press camera key to select "reboot system now"
If you have any additional issues, please let us know.
Thank you and have a great day!

  • Self rebooting Lumia 920

Recently i bought a Lumia 920. By a day after i updated it successfully. After that my Lumia reboots itself by its own. Sometimes twice a day, and some, day once. It’s around 10 days now. Please let me know what should i do.
Thanks in advance for helping me.

    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

If your phone keeps on rebooting, you can try this: Press and hold both the Volume down and the Power keys for 15 seconds. This should get your phone to restart and respond properly again. If this does not help, please make sure that the phone runs its latest software.  Go to the Settings > Phone Updates > Check for updates.
If none of the above troubleshootings work, then we have to consider doing an OS reset.
Warning: Resetting your phone will return it to the same state it was in the first time you turned it on. All your personal content in the phone, including text messages and apps that you been purchased and downloaded (may be re-downloaded again) will be erased, and the phone will be restore to the factory settings.
Here are two options to follow, depending on whether you can access your phone's Settings screen or not.
To avoid deletion of your files, you have to do a backup.
    • For the applications, go to Settings > Backup > Applist + Settings > Backup On > Backup Now.
    • For messages, go to Settings > Backup > Text messages > Text Backup > On.
    • For your music and videos, Go to Settings > Backup > Photos / Videos > to maintain the quality of your media files, you can select Best Quality but you have to be connected to WiFi.
    Option 1: About menu
Use this option if you can access your phone's settings.
This option warns about data loss.
On the Start screen, swipe left, select Settings > About > Reset your phone.

  • Self-rebooting, amber blinking Extreme

When I start my iMac up from scratch, the Extreme's amber light starts flashing before it returns back to green. I interpret this as the Extreme rebooting itself. But why does it do that? This only occurred to me since the last firmware update.
The Extreme runs as a base station to 3 remotes (Expresses) in a WDS network.
When my neighbour is on the phone, the extreme does the same thing: it flashes however it still works. Then it jumps back into green, stays there for a couple of seconde, starts blinking amber again, and so on. In this case, the interference is indicated by the noise curve (airport tool) or a 60% decrease in signal strength (Internet connect bar). It is fine again, once the phone call ahs been completed.

Im unsure at what I did fixed it, but its working.
There must have been something wrong with th config. I was able to get the utilty to want to see the base, but wouldn't want to make a new config. Through the advance button It restored my last config, and its working.
Perhaps it was related to the last/recent upgrade. Dont know for sure but its the only thing that changed.

Have you tried running in SAFE MODE for 1 full day just to rule out any 3rd Party APPS?  When did the rebooting start happening? Have you tried to Uninstall any APPS that you might have installed around the time it started?
