Drop-down manu question

Hi all,
I've created a custom tag that automatically gets all the records of a
database and builds up a html type drop-down menu containing all the
possible choices for a user.
Our client would like to quickly select an option by typing the first few letters of the selection and continuing by using the mouse.
Example if we have the following options:
ant
bird
cat
dog
lion
monkey
own
tiger
If the client types first c then cat is selected. He would like to type
now
a, and cat to continue to be selected, but the drop-down menu moves to
ant,
ie. it always goes to the top selection of the first letter typed.
Is there any way around?

Multiline - drop down list question

Below is my scenario:
I have a multi-record non-db block showing up in a tab canvas (say T). This tab canvas is supposed to be like detailssection in the form. In this tab canvas, one of the tabs is named 'Recon'. In this tab, there is an drop down list item called 'Purpose', which I am populating with a dynamic query using a look up value table.
However, since it is a multi-record block, I have about 5 records displayed. My dynamic query populates only the 1st drop down list item ('Purpose'). I can put the query in a loop and populate the remaining drop down 'Purpose' list items.But, how would I know when to stop the loop? i.e., how many records should it loop? Also, let us say the user completes all the 5 records, but then navigates to the 6th record (scrolls down using the scroll bar) then how would I know to populate the drop down list item ('Purpose') in the 6th record?
Can any one suggest an easy way to accomplish this?

Yes. that is a mul-record block. How to populate the list is my question. That is what I am trying to figure out.I asked some information.
how you are populating your list and on which trigger can you post the code?
And sure there is nothing code in WHEN-NEW-RECORD-INSTANCE which is refreshing the list? Because when you populate any list for it shows for all records either in multi-record or single record.

Drop down box question

Is there a way to allow multiple options to be chosen from a drop down box? I have the Designer version ES 8.2 that came w/ Acrobat Pro Extended 9. Thanks.

I am not aware of any way to enable multiple selections. That said, it would be possible to create a script that concatenates serial selections. (records and joins the selections). This could be displayed in another field, if desired.
Or, you could script additional instances of your dropdown box with a button. Or, even the exit event of the dropdown box itself.

Pop Up Window and Drop Down Menu Question PLSS Help

Hi Guys,
Ne help would be appreciated I am designing a website in
Dreamweaver, I need to know how to create a custom drop down menu.
Is there anyway that instead of using the standard drop down menu,
you can customize them e.g use an image instead. For example, when
you rollover lets say Home a drop down appears but the menu is
customised e.g colour, text and any other small details.
Even when using the standard drop down menu, how can you have
a particular text, whenever I go to edit font list it does not show
the typeface, although it is activated in suitcase.
Secondly, how can I create a custom pop up window?

hi,
Creator does not recognize (or whatever you say) characters like '<'. You can import js file which includes your script or change these characters for example put "<" instead of "<".

Numbers drop down filter question

This has been answered in this forum before, but I'm a novice to spreadsheets and I'm having trouble with a formula. Here's what I'm trying to do:
Column B is a drop down menu of 3 choices--Large Cap, Mid Cap, Small Cap. Cell C9 should be a sum of Column C of anything designated Large Cap in Column B. My formula is =SUMIF(B2:B7, C2:C7, "=Large Cap"). What am I doing wrong, and is there a better way?

If you are using Numbers 3.2, you can bring up the functions panel by typing = into a cell.
Browse through the functions that are listed or type the first few letters of the function name
In Numbers 2.3 you can open the function browser by Menu > View > Show Function Browser
or by clicking on this icon on the toolbar.

Mobile Archive Converter "Application Drop down box " question

Hi All ,
In the NWA under SAP Mobile Infrastructure-> Mobile Archive Converter
For me the "Application type" dropdown box on the Archive converter screen don't has any entries (blank dropdown list box) . it is a mandytory field.... Do you know this is because on any authorization or some table data i need to populate??????

Please check whether you have done the configurations for setting up of the NWA, because these fields are automatically retrieved if it is correctly configured.

Fill-In-The-Blank drop-down list in HTML5 output

I'm working in Captivate 7 (WIN) and developing for both SWF and HTML5 output, viewing courses in IE9 for Windows and Safari on iPad.
I have a quiz containing a fill-in-the-blank question, using a drop-down list to select the correct answer, however it does not display the drop-down button or function correctly in HTML5 output (see screenshot).
The issue began after updating to Captivate 7 version 7.0.1.237. The drop-down list worked prior to the update I installed recently. I'm viewing the published course locally and in the LMS, and it does not work in either.
I've not read in the help documents that drop-down list questions are an unsupported question type in HTML5, and so I'm wondering if this is a bug that needs to be reported. Has anyone encountered this issue?

Do you need scoring? There is a Scrolling Text interaction (more control, you can empty the variable and it will be displayed empty) but it is a non-interactive one, no score possible except by adding other interactive objects.

How to populate the folder names from a particular folder in the drop down of a control?

I am using an EDIT VI inorder to create MODEL, DRAWING NO and the other parameters and save it. For each new MODEL a new folder will get created at a specific path.
How can I populate all those MODEL names in the dropdown of a control?

If I undesrstand correctly you have a specific path containing sub folders, and you want to list all subfolders in a drop down manu?
you should create a manu ring that you'll use as your drop down manu.
then use the vi "list folder" on your path to get a list of all subfolders, and wire it to a "strings[]" property node of the ring control. The ring manu will then be populated with the list of folders.

Drop Down Menus for iWeb: Will They EVER Come?

I've got several websites that I need to update, and frankly probably rebuild from scratch.
I am considering moving them to iWeb. However, the ONLY reason I have not switched over yet is the unavailability of easy WYSIWYG drop down menus for iWeb. It's safe to say that if there was a seamlessly integrated way to create these, I would have started publishing at least four different sites with iWeb...YEARS ago.
So, now, faced with the choice again, the drop down menus question is before me again.
Please understand: I know and understand the various ways they can be manually created. That's now what I'm asking.
What I'm asking is for people's opinion: What's the likelihood that Apple will ever add this functionality to iWeb itself?
If so, any likelihood of this happening soon?
Because if they don't, I then have to make a choice to go through the long and arduous task of manually creating the menus for several sites (and making sure their perfect before we "go live" with the new versions...) And I'll have to weigh whether or not I want to bother with that.
Obviously, I am intentionally asking for your conjectures, unless some of you would like to dish on stuff you know.

iWeb is discontinued, so the likelihood that it gets the menus you want is rather slim.
And yes, there is a seamless way to add them.

Populating fields, drop down lists, etc... from external data

Hi,
I am trying to evolve my forms, and am interested in learning how to connect my forms to external data sources. I assume using server solutions would work, but are complex and costly. They are also likely beyond my scope of understanding. What are the best practices for doing this? Can it be done with a text file or spreadsheet? I am really looking for a better way to create custom data in forms than to go into the script and change them manually. Price is a good example. I have some forms that generate a very basic quote for services. When the price of part x changes I need to going into the from chance the script for those items, re-save it and hope I have not missed any items. Evey time his happens it is a hassle. Not to mention if more than one user needs it I have to make sure they are all using the right version (to be clear I am less worried about this part as it seems a complex task).
Is there a better way of doing this? What are the best practices for this? What external sources can be used to hold the data. I would be interested in any tutorials that may exist on the subject as well.

How do I lock individual subforms so that the remaining fields remain open and editable? The final version of the form, will have at least 200 fields in it that will also need to be locked in sections.
I can lock all the fields using the lock all fields button, but have been unable to make it work for just part of the form.
I've emailed the draft form. It would be really helpful if I had one example of a locked subform on the form I'm struggling with.

I have a form with several pages. The first page contains a number of drop down lists. These drop down lists, when an option is chosen, is to populate a text field on another page. I can get the drop down list to populate the text field when it is on the same page, but as soon as I move the text field to another page, the script doesn't work. Can anyone offer a solution? I've used javascript on change for the scripts.

Hi all.
I've spent a fair amount of time perusing the archives, so I don't have to bother you all with the basic questions. Great thanks to Wyodor, Old Toad, Ethmoid and Cyclosaurus for their excellent and oft-repeated tutorials.
With your help, I've figured out how to set up a personal domain name, modify my background image, and create a drop-down menu. (These were major accomplishments for a neophyte like me.) My primitive template can be seen here:

And I am pretty happy with it. I have one problem, and one minor element that I'd like to fix.
The drop-down menu was created following the excellent tutorial from the iWebfaq but I notice that although it looks perfect there is one malfunction. If you hover and try to select an element where there is no underlying content, it works fine. When you try to select a list item with underlying content, however, the drop-down disappears. Any idea why that happens or how I can fix it? I suppose I could just add a space buffer, but that is an inelegant solution.
On a more trivial note, the background was actually supposed to be composed of two images. The top row was supposed to be a horizontal set of tiles (slightly darker in color) and the rest of the background was tiled in a second image, giving a gradient effect. I used the script Wyodor described here with repeat set to yes which gave me single-image tiling. Looks OK, but if I could get both sets of tiles used it would add substantial richness to the visual effect. Ideas?

I appreciate your reply but those arrows were not the ones I was trying to describe. In the same box where you would type your web address on the far right is a small star and then next to it an arrow pointing down. If you click on this arrow, it normally drops down a list of the websites you commonly use. Or, if you are on a website ordering something, there might be a similar arrow that you need to select in order to choose which shipping you might want such as ground, next day air, etc., these are the kinds of arrows that are not working correctly now. Any ideas on these? Thanks for trying to help me.

i now have an embarrassing qu. have dowloaded spider solitaire (sad!) and i can't add cards at the bottom of a column for the same reason - the display cuts short. i have tried to extend it with the arrows in the bottom corners but it makes no difference. any ideas?
