Dropping calls like crazy..why!!??

I normally have great service at home..but the past few days, I'm dropping calls like crazy..have to go outside and stand in the driveway. NOT convenient! Also I keep losing my wifi when i go to the other end of the house, it starts using my 3G, never had that issue before either. Is there something I can do? Beyond frustrated....

To power cycle device press the power button until you get the slider on screen to power device down....  Once its powered down press the power button again to power device back on..   Also you can press power button and home button to do a hard reboot.
When it is reported to retest your device all you have to do is simply use the device like usual and see if the issue continue.

Do you believe everything you read online from people you do not know?
I've never experienced a dropped call on my iPhone and I always update to the latest version.
Have you tried basic troubleshooting steps?
Why does everyone assume Apple has to fix the issue, quite honestly, when a call drops there is no way to tell which end it got dropped on or if the network simply dropped the call.

  • Skype number in China dropping calls like no one's...

Anyone else having the same problem?  I've used a Skype number in China for years, while's it's never been perfect it has been functional until the last 4 days. I drop calls using the Skype number ever 3-4 minutes. China-to-China calls not using Skype are fine, so I am assuming Skype and China are struggling to work together. Advice?

Hi and welcome to the Skype Community,
Sorry to hear about these problems. When these calls are dropping are you using Skype in a location with a stable internet connection? i.e. can you place Skype-to-Skype calls from that location that are not dropping?

  • Telemarketer calls like crazy??

In the past 30 hours, I have received nearly 25 telemarketer calls to my cell phone.  This has never happened before!  Has anyone else had this problem??

    Hello Kathy,
I get them all the time. I have an app that keeps me from ever knowing they called, unless I check the log. It can be found in the Play Store and it's called "Call Control".
You can set the app up to send the calls to voicemail, which I do. Because, there is a rare occasion when it's a call I would have taken if I'd known they weren't a spammer. You can have the call picked up and hung up on. If you have unlimited minutes, you can use this option without worry. But, if you don't have unlimited minutes, I'd just use the "voicemail" option.
Or you can let the call ring, but the ringer is muted.
The downside is you have to add each number one by one. You can't enter a block of numbers. But, I had them each time I get a all from them, so it's not so bad.
The app has loads of other features you might like too, like blocking "Private" or "Unknown" callers, etc.
There are other apps available, but this was the best one I found for me. It was the only one that didn't allow the call to ring once before blocking the call according to my settings. As I said, I have no clue anyone's called, unless I check the log.

  • IPhone 5 Dropping Calls

I've been with Verizon for roughly 13 years now.  Through numerous phones, I've always had great service - reliable, good signal, MAYBE 2 dropped calls in all those years.  I recently exchanged my old flip phone for an iPhone 5.  For the most part, I'm greatly enjoying the phone.  Except . . . it's dropping calls like crazy.  In fact, a couple of days ago, it dropped 9 times in a single phone conversation (I was ready to just drive to my friend's house rather than continue.)  I haven't had any issues with internet, e-mail or anything else, just phone calls.  However, considering this is a phone, that's a HUGE issue and extremely frustrating.
When the call drops, I can call the person back right away, but again - frustrating!
Any suggestions (aside from switching back to a more traditional phone?  Which I am about ready to do.)

I have been having and my wife also. We both have an iphone 5, mine is the 32gb hers is the 16 gb. I have contacted tech service with no help. We've had verizon for aprox 10 years. We've had service at our home not the best but never had problems with dropped calls or cutting in and out till maybe 6 months ago. Our son has a iPhone 4S with no problems and our daughter has a droid bionic with no problems. We are getting very frustrated, we have few problems anywhere else but at home. We've even had problems Outside at home keep in mind we have had verizon for years without problems but now we can't continue to pay premium prices for substandard service. As for a verizon network extender I'll try one if it's provided by verizon but I will not buy one, it's not like we just moved to a new house we've lived here for 27 years and our phones worked here for years. Our zip code is 24210. I also work at 24202 and I also experience dropped calls there as never before with verizon. Verizon has problems and either not admitting it or they are blind. Just google verizon iphone 5 dropped calls you'll see Lots of people with similar problems.

  • This isn't a question but rather a warning to anyone using the new OS for iphone 4.  The imessage uses up your data plan like crazy.  I called Apple about it and they said no it's not doing it.  I called AT

The new OS is burning through my data plan like crazy and here's why.  Imessage uses your data plan and not your texting plan.  So every time you send a text message to someone with an iphone it uses imessage and it uses your data, not your text plan.  I couldn't figure out why I was burning through so much of my data plan so quickly.  I called Apple and they said, no it's not the data plan doing it.  I called AT&T and they said, yes, the imessage uses data instead of your texting plan if you are texting to another iphone.  Also, the new OS runs your apps all the time, even when you aren't using them.  So if you are not near wifi your apps are running and burning your data plan.  The AT&T guy took me through the steps to turn off the apps.  You can still use them but they won't be running constantly.  Seriously Apple, you should let people know this.  It does say it in the fine print on the website "data rates may apply" under imessage but most people will never read this.  So my data plan started on October 10th and it's already at 175 megabytes and I only have a 200 megabyte plan.  I've never used more than 50 to 75 megabytes in a month.  Apple get it together and be honest with people and tell them.  Quit denying the problem.  Most people have probably not even discovered this yet.  Wait till you get your bill.

    kimmie92592 wrote:
It's not really common knowledge because I've talked to several people today and none of them knew about it.  Also, when I called Apple they said no the new OS is not using data.  Totally wrong answer.  You'd think they'd know about it and at least tell people.  The people who are going to be hit by this are people like me with the 200mb plans.  I just think it's best to spread the word so people can know what's happening.  I still don't know how I went through so much data in such a short period of time.  It's not happening anymore though, not since I fixed everything up last night.
If you are using a free wifi connection, there are no data charges with iMessage.  But in an area where you did NOT have a wifi connection, of course it used 3G and of course you got charged for it (or had it count against your plan limits).
I'll ask again - without a wifi connection, just what did you think was happening?  How did you think your iPhone was able to magically send a message WITHOUT using any data connection?  A little bit of rational thought would have made you realize that there was no way, over a 3G connection (which is a service provided by your cellular service provider, NOT Apple), that you can send or receive ANYTHING without your service provider's plan picking it up.
Nothing abut iMessage has ever hinted that it can, in any way, bypass your service provider when NOT using a wifi connection.

  • Why am I dropping calls and only get 3G?

I switched to Verizon because my previous provider stopped covering my area. Now I'm having problems with Verizon dropping calls and not having internet at home. Any idea why the service has gotten worse?

        @local101,
Thanks for the additional details! I show you're in an extended area and may see the service fluctuate between 3G and 4G. Verizon Wireless radio frequency (RF) engineers and system performance engineers regularly evaluate network coverage and performance to identify locations that may require additional coverage. Based on their analyses and recommendations cell site construction or other improvements are then planned and budgeted accordingly.
Try removing the sim card for a minute or two. Insert and retest. This should help refresh the connection.

Why do I keep losing service/dropping calls with every outgoing call it's not my location it happens where ever I am. It will not let me call out even to customer service or 611. It also will go straight to voicemail when someone calls me, but low and behold I cant even call my voicemail. This is ridiculous and has been happening for almost 2 weeks. What if I have an emergency and need to call out or someone is trying to reach me, that's the whole point of my cell phone. Please help I'm very unhappy! I have a galaxy note 2Hi , Thank you for your post. We're happy to help. Were there any changes to your device when this started happening? Do you have your device in Airplane Mode? Please check to see if you're running the most current software version through Settings>About device>Software update>Check for updates. Are you hearing a recording when you try to make a call? Check in Settings>Call settings>Additional settings>Call barring>verfiy that All outgoing calls is unchecked. Also, make sure that your SIM card is inserted correctly and not damaged. We have some additional steps to try. First let's try a Soft Reset by removing your battery for 2-3 minutes. This will re-optimize your device. You may also try running your device in Safe Mode for 2-3 hours: http://bit.ly/1vkcs06 . This will only run stock applications to see if any third party apps are causing this. • Why does my iPhone 4S drop calls with good service

Why when I have 3 or more bars does my iPhone 3S drop calls?

Go to Settings > General > Accessability > Incoming Calls then set to default.

  • Why does my iphone keep dropping calls

Why does my iphone4 keep dropping calls??? It has been doing it for over a week. Does anyone have an answer.... AT&T says they are not having any problems and I have done everything but restore my phone.

Unfortunately, this has plagued the AT&T iPhone since the original model came out. It's most likely a dead zone causing the issue (I have the sameissue from time to time). You can also get a Micro Cell from AT&T, it's basically just an access point that allows you to pick up a cellular signal at home or work (where ever you set it up).
To eliminate any hardware issues, make sure you're on the latest build of the OS (4.3.3 for the AT&T iPhone 4) - I noticed you're still on 4.3.2. If you don't have a case, I suggest the Apple bumper or any case that covers the metal bezel on your phone, that will help as well.
Also, you can "reboot" your phone. To do this, hold down the metal sleep button on the upper-right corner of your phone until the "slide to power off" slider is displayed, then power off the phone. Wait a few minutes and turn it back on.
    Hope this helps!

  • Dropped calls and no service in my house...why am I even paying a phone bill?

I've been a Verizon customer for probably around 6 or 7 years now. I've had plenty of different devices and was always happy with my phone. A few years ago, service started to get horrible in my house. I would barely get service and my phone would drop calls. I have spent hours over the past 2 years on the phone with reps. Some were very helpful, and some were very frustrating. I have put in service tickets and even changed out my phone to try to get better service. Let me also note that AT&T customers get perfect service inside of my house. I don't even want to hear the excuse that Verizon doesn't guarantee service inside of a building due to building materials. The last time I checked, I didn't rebuild my house in the past few years with new materials. I use my cell phone for business when I'm at home, so it is extremely important that it works inside my house. I put my most recent service ticket in almost 2 weeks ago and there is STILL no resolution. I also won't accept if the only resolution is me buying a network extender.. I'd rather pay an early termination fee and leave before I'd ever spend money on another Verizon device. I have had 2 reps in the past week tell me that they would call me back and I never hear anything. I also have been told that they would resolve it by a certain date, only to find out that now they are saying it's going to stay open until they can figure it out. I rely on my phone for work now more than ever since I recently starting working from home, so how can I accept the fact that I am waiting around and paying for a phone that doesn't work when I need it the most? For all of my trouble, they offered me a $20 credit on my account. I shouldn't even use the word "offered" because I was the one who mentioned that I should be reimbursed for my time. I'm so sick of wasting my time on the phone and I am truly disgusted with Verizon. As a long time customer who has spent thousands of dollars over the year paying for Verizon service, I would expect to be treated much better than this.

I am not in the same boat, Verizon works absolutely everywhere I go and I am super happy with the service. If the service started not working however, and I got no resolve, I would just cancel it and switch providers. No point in paying for service you can't use, especially where you live.

  • Why am I getting dropped calls every since I upgraded to IOS 7?

I upgraded to IOS7 and I have been having dropped calls all the time.  I talked to Verizon and we went through a number of things to fix it but it did not work.  Has anyone else had this problem? If so what have you done.

I know how important service is for you and your wife olehippy52 and I'm sorry you are now having issues at home. I also want to apologize for the experience you had at the store location. The information given to you should have been provided with some investigation and a better explanation. We can look into the area issues especially if you had service before and now have problems. What is your zipcode? What two phones do you and your wife have? You can usually dial *228, send and option #2 to update 3g phones. You can reach out to us here via private message, by phone to talk with tech support, chat, or social media. Once we speak with you, we can get started with an investigation to get this fixed and keep you with our family. We look forward to hearing from you soon.

  • Dropped Calls in close proximity to tower

    Hi.
I posted this as a response to a similar post, but I'm not sure who may see it, so I'm reposting here.  Sorry for the duplication.
I have been having dropped calls in my home chronically since moving to my new house four years ago.  Zip code 37917.  Close to downtown Knoxville, TN.  Here's a brief summary of what's happened so far.  The reason for this post is I recently came across an ad for repeaters and outdoor and indoor antennas linked to the repeater, and I'm wondering if they really work - especially when they cost $500 plus.
Brief history of my actions and suggestions from Verizon techs.
    1.  Initially bought and installed Samsung Range Extender in Aug 2008.  Been using it ever since.  Yes, I do have it set up correctly and have rebooted it multiple times over the years.
    2.  Changed phones frequently - even paid full price for a couple of phones.  Here's a list of the phones that I have tried - may not be a comprehensive list - but even friends of mine on Verizon have issues connecting and dropping calls in and around my neighorhood and in my home.
    Blackberry Pearl and Blackberry Curve
    Storm
    HTC Incredible
    Motorola Razr Maxx
    (There's probably others I can't remember)
    3.  Contacted Tech Support so many times that I have been offered (before I purchased the Razr Maxx this past spring) that since I am in a "known trouble area" that I can opt out of my contract with no penalty.
    4.  I also have been told to contact Verizon Corporate in Atlanta to see if they can "specifically let me know when these issues are going to be addressed in my area".
I even have a Tier III+ trouble ticket and received from Corporate their generic response of "you can sign up at the link below for the newest products and services".
    5.  I am, as the crow flies, less than two miles from the nearest Verizon cell tower.  I have been told that I am "too close" to the tower to receive consistent service.  Been told that the signal spreads out and I am actually underneath the signal.
I have  seriously considered leaving Verizon for another service (AT&T), but I have so much money invested in my phones, extender, accessories, etc., that I'm not sure it's worth switching, especially since I travel to rural areas and do get better service in those areas with Verizon than other carriers.
So back to my reason for posting this rant. Do outside antennas that link to an inside antenna and then to a repeater work?  And would it work in conjuction with my Samsung Range Extender?
(I will also include a summary of the explanation I provided to corporate last spring or summer and a summary of their response).
    Thanks!!
    Jeff

Message Body: TIER III+ Problem. KNOWN TROUBLE AREA
Told by tech support that this email needs to be forwarded to CORPORATE.
Have had longstanding dropped call/service issue in our neighborhood and
have been told its a known trouble spot, even though we are very close to
    Verizon cell towers.
I have talked to numerous upper tier tech support/engineers over the last
three years with nothing resolved yet about dropped calls in my area, including
my home. I do have NETWORK EXTENDER.
I have been told I can get out of my service contract with no fee. I want to
avoid that, if possible, unless I can be reimbursed for all my equipment:
Network Extender, four smartphones including Samsung Charge that I paid full
price for, MiFI 4G LTE broadband, etc. unless they would all work with a
    different network.
I have been Verizon customer since mid 1990s.
What I need to know is SPECIFICALLY what is being done to fix this issue in
my area, if anything, and what TIME FRAME am I looking at to have the issue
resolved. Otherwise, I will have to switch carriers.
Everything is logged on my Tech Support Screen log. Please review that and
    respond to this.
    Thank you.

A - Yes, it is a Verizon tower about 1 1/2 miles as the crow flies.  I've been told there are other Verizon towers close by.
B - Housing is historic wood frame out (circ. 1890) that's been refurbished with blown foam insulation on exterior walls, dirt to highest point in the attic.
C - RF interference, I've had the problem ever since I moved here and have had different electronic devices in the home and have not explored that possibility completely.  But, I do get the Extender confirmation beep, and also have added another 4 hub router, with my main router being Apple Extreme with an additional Airport Express within the last year.
D - I also drop calls sitting on my front and back porch outside.  I am right next to Interstate 40, but actually below grade level of the traffic, so that's why I was wondering if I had a little more height if it would help.  Interestingly, when I am on I-40 right next to my house, the signal is strong and I don't drop calls - at least that I remember.
    Thanks again,
    Jeff
