Dual monitor slideshow from preview or other software? 10.9

Hi,
does anyone have a suggestion how to run a photo slideshow on a mac with multiple screens attached that actually uses all the screens? If you select photos from the finder and then press the spacebar, or if you open the photos in preview, either gives the same result of showing a slideshow on one principal screen and the others remain as they were.  I know there's the option in system preferences to mirror displays but I normally use the various displays as an extended desktop, it would be nice to have the option to use the various displays for a slideshow without having to fundamentally change the way the mac is controlling the screens.  Apparently mavericks is more dual-screen friendly, but it seems to still only be half way there!!
Any suggestions gratefully received!

So if i have a movie playing on tag 1 on my right screen, i can still switch between all 9 tags on my left screen and not loose sight of the movie. I havnt found any other window manager that creates this behavior by default, and i cant seem to figure out a way to make gnome or XFCE do it.
floating WM's like xfwm etc support a "pin" mode where you can pin a window , if you change workspaces, the pinned windows remain shown.

  • Windows Photo Viewer and dual monitor slideshow

Why does Slideshow only works on a main display?
why can't i move Photo Viewer to the secondary monitor then start slideshow there? if i do that in Win7 RC the secondary display will turn all black and the main one will start the slideshow.

that seems to have worked for me, but the inactive screen is still blackened, do you think the photo viewer doesn't fully support dual monitors? I also noticed the picture is the same display size as the primary monitor, as in whatever size is is during
a slideshow on the primary is the same when switched to the secondary.
I could juy st tap the window key to get the primary back, but then the unused portions of the secondary revert to the background...this seems like a strong candidate for a windows update that actually changes the way the OS works... can I has some cash

    hey, MS, WTF?

  • Dual Monitor Slideshows

    Hi All
I use Bridge to display a slideshow on my 30" cinema display at exhibitions. Is there a way to run a password protected slideshow on my MBP while continuing to show the slideshow on the 30" display?
If not, then how would I secure access to my MBP and yet leave the slideshow running?
    Thanks,
    David

Thanks for the help. one small problem. I don't see what your screen shot shows. Under playback I have the following options: soundtrack, slide duration, random order, repeat, prepare previews in advance.
    I don't see a two screen icon.
I've got mirroring off and have gone to wndow>Secondary Display and checked Show and Slideshow. The first image shows on my second screen until I start the slideshow. then it blanks and the show plays on my main monitor only.
    what am I missing?

  • Dual monitor setup from laptop

I am a college student and have a Dell d630 laptop and am stuck with it until I graduate. I have many hours of programming still ahead and am very sick of this tiny screen. I like to have a minimum of 4 windows open at a time and would love a dual screen setup so I could cover more ground. I would like a setup where I don't need to use my laptop screen at all and just have 2 external monitors working together (I already have the monitors). I tried doing research to figure out my best option but I know nothing about video cards or monitor configurations so I didn't get far. Could someone recommend the product or setup i would need? thanks!

Well with a laptop, you're extremely limited as to video output capabilities, the best you're most likely going to be able to do is one external monitor.

  • Elements 11 Preview Window not visible in dual monitor mode

When I go to dual monitor mode the preview window is hidden. I can still hear the audio from the clip but I can't see the video window. It is still hidden when I switch back to single monitor mode. The only way to bring it back is to close out the program and reopen it. Does anyone know where it goes and how to make it visible?

    MAINEEDIT
I have just set up for Premiere Elements 11 Dual Monitor Mode in Windows 8 64 bit computer.
How do you have your monitors set up...Extend Across.. or other?
I am not having any problems keeping track of what I believe you are referring to as the "Preview Window". So please excuse
if I double check with you via the following screenshot.
Preview Window which can be brought up
    a. double clicking the file in Project Assets
    b. double clicking the file on the Expert workspace Timeline
I am going to go over this one more time with my Premiere Elements 11 and Windows 8 64 bt computer to see
if I can create the situation that I am interpreting that you have.
    Thanks.

Add On...This especially makes me ask....
When I reopen the program the preview window appears in its normal position.
The Preview Window is going to close when you save/close the project. As you saying that you re-opened the project
to find the Preview Window opened?

  • Card to drive dual monitors

Wife has decided she wants to have dual monitors, and from what I've read, her current ATI 4350 has difficulties with that
A quick search shows that the ATI 4650 has two DVI output connectors, so SHOULD do what she wants with no problems
    Any comments?

The card has multiple outputs.  Try it before you spend any money.
Well, you win the prize... the ATI 4350 does work... albeit with a LOT of trying different options to get it all to work properly
When I got home last night wife want to try RIGHT NOW and I was too tired to go back out... so I turned my computer off and "temporarily" moved my 24 inch monitor over next to her 24 inch
I know now why I found so many questions/complaints about setting up a dual monitor system
Hardware is easy...  simply connect the 2nd monitor to the 2nd output... program/logic is NOT intuitive at all, so it took me about half an hour of clicking around to get things set up and working properly
Right now, I have borrowed "her" 2nd monitor back to check email and messages this morning, and as soon as I finish here my computer goes dark again so I can put "her" 2nd monitor back in place
Of course the good thing is... later today I go to Costco (only local store I could find with one in stock) to buy a 27 inch monitor for my side of the office

  • Remembering SaveAs dialog position on dual-monitor

    Hello,
I'm using Acrobat 9 Standard with dual monitor setup.
How can I get Acrobat to remember the last position of the SaveAs dialog on the other monitor after moving it there?
I'm using a script to automate the extraction of each page and saving each as an individual file.
Every time a page is extracted, the SaveAs dialog will obstruct my view of the content, which I need to move to another screen, before I can type in the appropriate filename.
    Thanks,
    Devin

Can somebody please confirm if you're experiencing the same issue on your dual monitor setup? Thanks.

  • Why does Firefox 8 maximize to both monitors and ignore dual monitor software rules?

I updated to Firefox 8.0. I have a Colorgraphic 2 (dual monitor) setup. When I maximize FF 8.0, it maximizes to both monitors. My other programs and previous versions of FF do not do this. My multi-screen software is set so maximizing only takes place in the monitor where the curser is, not both. it's also supposed to open in the monitor where the curser is, but doesn't because I can't close maximized because it's covering both monitors. It's like FF 8.0 ignores the multi-screen software rules. Some minor programs (printer, player programs, pop-ups) do this but no major ones until FF 8.0. Can this be fixed?

Jumping from Firefox 2 to Firefox 8 was a very big jump, you skipped 7 versions, and your Profile may be partially b0rked. Try a new Profile and see how it works.

  • Hp printer software update 3.0, now unable to print from preview

I have a mid 2007 iMac with a 2.4 Ghz Intel Core 2 Duo running OS 10.9.5 Build 13F34. I updated the HP Printer Software Update Version 3.0 on Oct 9, 2014. I have a HP Laserjet 3050 All in One printer that has worked flawlessly.
Now when I try to print PDFs or Jpegs from Preview, the "ready light" on the printer flashes a couple of time but nothing prints out. I cannot print from Preview. I cannot print PDFs from Adobe Reader. I can print Jpegs from iPhoto.
I have time machine. How can I go back to the previous HP printer software version and will I mess up my computer by trying to do so?

Yeah, I thought that "update" just updated Apple's printer drivers that it stores on the computer.  I didn't know that it actually applied the drivers.  At any rate, those are presumably Apple's drivers, not HP's.  The printer manufacturer's drivers usually have more functionality than Apple's.
Sorry, I can't tell you where to look for that driver in Time Machine.  However, I have another suggestion.
First, power down and unplug the computer for 15 seconds before rebooting.  If that doesn't work, then the next question is:  Have you ever downloaded and run HP's Mac software for this printer?  IF SO, you might try deleting your printer in system preferences, and then adding it back, however, when it's found, do not accept the default AirPrint software but check the dropdown list to see if there's an option for HP software before continuing.
If you've never installed HP's software, then downloading it from HP and running it's installation may resolve your problem.

  • I have a dual monitor setup.  When I paste develop settings from one image to another, Lightroom switches the active window.

Strange problem.  Lightroom 5.5.  Windows 8.1. Dual monitor setup.
I'm processing a large batch of photos.  I have Monitor #1 set as my main develop window, with Monitor #2 set only to display a larger version of the image I'm working with. If I copy the develop settings off of one image and try to paste them onto another image, Lightroom will switch from Monitor #1 to Monitor #2 as the main develop window, and will not display anything on Monitor #1.
If I then try to paste develop settings onto another image on Monitor #2, LR will then display a larger version of the image I'm working with on Monitor #1.
To work the way I want to, I have to continually drag my develop window back to Monitor #1 every time I try to paste develop settings onto a new image. How can I make this stop?

I just tried what I think you’re saying you’re doing and I don’t have the problem with LR 5.5 on Windows 7 SP 2.
Does the same thing happen whether you use the key shortcuts vs the Settings / Copy/Paste options on the menu?
I ask this because if you’re using the keyboard shortcuts, maybe you have some display-manager program that has bound itself to the Ctrl-Shift-V (paste settings) to the function of move-to-other-monitor which would do at least part of what you describe.
You can also test this theory by doing a Ctrl-Shift-V with an application other than LR as the active window and see if it moves.  I suppose Ctrl-Shift-C might also play into it so try both of these hot-key combinations with a program that isn’t LR.
If none of this sheds any light on the situation, then give a more detailed description of the low-level functions you’re doing to accomplish the copy-paste of settings, so someone else could replicate the steps exactly.
    Specific detailed steps, like:
left-click on source photo’s thumbnail in the filmstrip
press Ctrl-Shift-C to copy the settings
    click Check-None
enable the white-balance and calibration checkboxes
    click Ok
left-click on destination photo's thumbnail in the filmstrip
click on Settings / Paste Settings in LR’s menus to paste the settings to the selected photo

  • Dual monitoring from Macbook pro to Fujitsu laptop

hi i would like to use an old laptop as a dual monitor for my macbook pro. i have onhand a VGA adaptor that I bought recently. I have tried connecting macbook to a monitor and it worked just fine. but with the laptop, it couldn't work.
i tried connecting my macbook to the fujitsu laptop. but i wasnt able to extend the desktop to the fujitsu laptop.
i want to use my macbook as the primary screen for me to work on, but i place other reports on the other laptop.
    can anybody help?
    thanks in advance

I do this kind of thing quite a bit, and it all depends on what kind of storage options that are available.
    1. I have several pen drives, a few 16gb in storage, that I use to transfer data from one computer to another. If you have 26gb of music, the transfer should't be too long.
    2. I also own a few Seagate portable drives, which are great for transferring data. It's also fairly fast. I use a USB to USB2 cable to do the transfer; my cable came with the drive.
One easy way to figure out which cable you need would be to visit your Apple Store; they should be able to tell which cable to purchase.

  • [SOLVED] Dual monitor: can't switch from X to vc

I have  a dual monitor configuration on my laptop (Sony Vaio VGN-SR21M), so that I can work with the laptop screen and an external lcd at the same time. It works amazingly well, every screen has its own resolution and I can drag windows from one screen to another (ATI drivers are wonderful in this aspect!). The only problem is that I can't switch to vc pressing Ctrl+Alt+F2 or any other function key: the laptop screen freezes black, while the other shows "no input" box. Pressing Alt+F7 the X interface is restored correctly to both screens. If I start X without the external lcd  the problem disappears, so I think it is a multimonitor issue. Here's my xorg.conf:

  • Slideshow on 1st monitor (while in dual monitor mode)

Apparently, Lightroom expects you to always use the second monitor for slideshows and does not allow you to use the first (no options available as far I my research went).
My 1st monitor is bigger and would be my choice for slideshow presentations. I am sure I'm not the only person with this setup.
(BTW: I don't quite understand why there's two shortcuts for slideshows on a Mac - "Cmd + Return" and "Shift + Alt + Cmd + Return". In dual monitor mode they do exactly the same, even though the distinction suggests they would have something to do with the target monitor...)

me too originally! Until I remembered that LR never works like that!! The module system can sometimes get confusing trying to remember which things apply throughout LR and which things only on a module...however there is usually some way round every problem in the end,and one of the joys (or frustration dependant on  how busy I am) is discovering it.
