Duplex Printing - Odd Page Issue

I'm using the following logic to avoid printing subsequent form's details on previous one, it seems to work fine in most of the cases but for some of the data input the logic is not working, I've placed some debug statements and found out that at the time of layout ready event pageCount%2 == 0 is yielding an even number so the logic is going into else block but when the form is rendered finally I'm not getting the total page count as even. I'm not sure asto why there is a mismatch between pagecount at the layOut ready event.  Have any of you guys run into the same issue? I appreciate any suggestions.
if(pageCount%2 == 0) {
//even, show the blank page to shift the trailing page down to an odd page number
    form1.blank_page.presence="visible";
} else {
//odd, hide the blank page as the trailing page is already on an odd page number
    form1.blank_page.presence="hidden";

  • Duplex prints blank pages at section breaks in MS Word

Symptom: MS Word prints blanks on the backs of only some pages that should be auto-duplexed, resulting in even pages being printed on odd sides of paper sheets. Probability of problem is greater if one side is portrait and the other landscape.
Cause: MS Word creates a separate PostScript file for each section. (A section is delimited by a section break.) As each file arrives at the printer, the printer treats it as a new print job and so ejects the previous piece of paper before printing the first page of the next section. If the last page of a section is odd, then the first page of the next section can't print on the back of that piece of paper.
Microsoft told me it's the fault of the Mac OS. Anybody have insights? Has Apple even acknowledged this problem?

Next Page section break with different page orientations in the two sections (first section on odd page, next section on even page), is guaranteed to cause the problem.
But Next Page section break even with the same page orientation also causes the problem, though not 100% of the time. I've not figured out why on rare occasions it does not cause the problem. I've examined the usual suspects--anything requiring the second section to appear on an odd page.
Even a regular Page Break (not a section break) causes the problem at least most of the time, even though (by definition) there is no page orientation change.
This is a big problem for me, because I produce 300-page formally structured documents that really benefit from section breaks. I can't expect my readers to manually duplex.

  • Printer second page issue

    Dear Gurus,
When I print two pages for a one invoice in a dot matrix printer,
second page starts a bit below from starting point..
Do anyone knows how to fix this issue?
    Kind Regards,

    Hello friend,
In the windows under output options tab there is an option for setting the left margin and upper margin. Just reduce the upper margin and see whether you are getting any difference in output.
I think this must be the problem, if not please revert me will help you.
    Thanks,

  • Printing Second Page Issue

    Dear all,
I have set the print default for a user to print two copies of AR invoice. When the print comes out, the first page is printed as original and second page as a copy which is fine. Unfortunately the second page is printed in a weird way. The text boxes which are shown in the Print Layout Designer are also printed
    Any solution on that

  • Print Odd Page Dimensions

I went through a lot of trouble trying to figure out why this wasn't working, so I would like to post my notes for anyone who needs to do this.
I needed to print on page sizes that could vary from short, wide pages to tall, narrow pages. I was trying to do this by implemeting the Printable interface, but that doesn't work, because the page size would be automatically changed from my settings. I found this blog that gave me the hint that I needed to implement the Pageable interface instead, and that worked perfectly. Fortunately, the Printable implementation was just what I used to learn Java printing, and Pageable is what I was heading towards.
I'm not sure why Pageable worked and Printable did not, because for Pageables essentially point to a collection of Printables, each having their own PageFormat. In any case, if you are having trouble with printing, especially with wide pages, this may help.
    Best!
    - Tomas

in iPhoto edit the photo and crop to a square - since cropping is just a ratio, not a dimension and square would work - select the cropped photo and click print - select the printer and paper size and set a custom print size - 12cm x 12cm in your case - and print

  • HP Duplex prints first page non-duplex?

I have upgraded to Lion and am experiencing problems printing duplex (two-sided) documents on HP printers (tested on the HP Laserjet 4010 and 9050).  The first page will print non-duplex (one-sided) as if it is a separate cover page. The remaining pages will properly print in duplex format.  This problems occurs when printing both in Word (2011) and printing pdfs from preview.
I tried going to the HP website to download the drivers directly for Lion, but it said to use system update for the drivers. Doh! Any ideas?  My brain is starting to hurt.
1000 thank yous for whomever can resolve this for me!
    Mike

You should use Software Update to install the specific driver for your printer. You can also download the full set of drivers from http://support.apple.com/kb/DL907. What version of the HP driver are you using? Please post back if the duplex issue remains after updating the drivers.

  • Canon MX922 duplex printing wrinkling page.

When printing 2 sided of a page the first page prints normally.  The page is then pulled back into the printer to print the reverse side.  When the page is pulled back it sounds like it is catching on something and when page comes out it is wrinkled.  Kind of like a wavy look when holding the page up and looking at it from the side.  Initially I had a paper jam and cleared it per instructions by removing the back panel and removing a jammed page.  Every since one sided print works fine but two died printing produces the wavy page.  Cannot see any think causing the problem.  Does anyone have any advice??

    Hi billheston,
In addition to the steps you have already taken, performing a roller cleaning may resolve the issue the printer is experiencing. To do this, please follow the steps located here. If you still experience difficulty, the printer may require servicing; please call or email us at one of the methods on the Contact Us page for further assistance.

  • C4380 duplex printing unrelated pages

luv the c 4380 & duplex process that simply hangs, draws back and prints the other side....no touch !!But suppose I need to completely customize the backside of that printed page ... perhaps resizing oreven from a different source?Do I need to go manual moving paper around ..if so..how...or is there a new driver or feature that will let me specify instructions, sizing, scaling, landscape or portraitPAGE by PAGE that I missed somewhere .. and if so, say I am working in Excel spreadsheet to printgraphics...can I save that process once perfected as part of the printing instructions of that file or is therea separate process I need to turn on or activate to do the same thing again the next time I need it?Help!!Many Thanks,Jim [email protected]

This kind of question was already asked and answered.
Assuming that there is really a problem between Pages and you printer driver, print the standard way in a PDF.
Then, print the PDF in Duplex mode.

  • Improvement request - duplex printing different page sizes

I have scanned sheet music to PDF and then trimmed the margins for best display on my tablet. This means some pages are different sizes (but all are smaller than 8.5 x 11).
I combined one such PDF into a larger PDF of all 8.5 x 11 pages. When I print duplex, the pages that are less than 8.5 x 11 print out single sided instead of duplexed. It does this regardless of the size option (fit, actual size, or shrink) that I choose.
I consider this to be a bug. It is already properly centering the less than 8.5x11 pages on the output paper, so it should be able to duplex them even though they are different sizes in the PDF. I would like to see this fixed.

  • Problem with duplex printing - alternate pages upside down

I have been trying to print 2 per side, double sided from Adobe Reader. I have tried this as two up, duplex and also as booklet printing. Whatever I do, the second side is upside down. "Flip on long/short edge" appears to make no difference.
Trying to resolve it in the printer properties is worse: Adobe Reader seems to override them and I get single sheets single sided. If I select both "two sided" in the Reader dialog and "Duplex" in the printer dialog, the second side overprints the first side (but is the right way up!.
I am using Reader 10.1.2 with Windows 7 and an HP Deskjet 6980 printer with duplex unit using the Windows 7 default drivers. I have installed the "AdobeReaderPatch10.1.2_cpsid_92870.zip".
There must be a combination of settings which works! Can anybody help? Please?

TThat is my problem also. You are flipping to the long side, you need to flip to the short side. I order to get the back one to be right side up. I was able to get windows 8 to do that today without doing anything beside selecting landscape and flip to short side. But when I use my iPad I donot have that selection. I need software to be able to have that option.

  • How do I "Print Booklet" with just odd pages and even pages for duplexing . . options disabled

I have InDesign CS5.5 on a Windows 7 64-bit machine hooked to a Xerox 7750 printer.  I have created a 8.5x11 portrait document and trying to create a booklet on 12x18 sheets.
I need to print duplex manually and so I need to print just the odd spreads and then the even spreads.
I have printed to Adobe PDF and printed from my created PDF file and have it working, but I want to know why InDesign won't let me do it.  When I click "File > Print Booklet > Print Settings" then it shows the Print Dialog box with the Pages section, which includes the Sequence that normally would allow me to do Odd Pages or Even Pages, but it is disabled.  Why?  I can define Print Presets and I can choose Odd Pages, but when I choose that in the Preset box it does not show anything, everything is still disabled.
Anybody have any idea of why it is disabled?  Is it my printer driver?

I too was very frustrated after upgrading to indesign cs5.5 and the latest LION OS on my new MAC.  I missed the odd/even page selection in the print dialog box within Indesign.  I tried about everything and found little of value in various forums.  But I did find a workable solution that makes since in terms of Apple's OS.
My objective is to "impose" my document and also end up with a file that I can just print again and again without "ripping" in the InDesign Print Booklet Dialog.
Here is the quick version of what to do.  I am not including every little step with pictures. =)  (I can if there is interest.)
    1. create your document
    2. Print Booklet
    3. At the first dialog box, just ignore the printer in print preset (you will come back to this) and go to the 2-up perfect bound option and select 16 page signatures.  This will impose 2-up on 4 physical pieces of paper printed both sides.  So 16 of your document pages printed duplex on 4 physical sheets of paper.  It would be nice to then just select the printer and scaling, etc. and the option to print even pages, flip over and then print odd pages but that ain't an option.  If you have different needs, do the math and input the correct numbers before proceeding
    4. Click on Print Settings  to pull up a second dialog box.
    5. Select for Printer PostScript File (not your printer)  Also select for PPD your printer or Adobe PDF 9 if you have that installed.  Don't obsess on this just pick your Printer for the PPD.
    6. Select 1 copy and All Pages while in the General Tab
    7. Select the Setup Tab Here is where you put in the actual physical paper size that you are going to print your document on. Don't scale to fit.  You must do this.  If you feel the need, check out all the tabs and options but for now, you are just trying to get an output file.  You probably do want to select CENTER for page position in this same setup tab.
    8. Hit OK whcih will return you to the original dialog.  Check when you return to be sure that at the top Printer is populated with PostScript File.  Click on Print and give the thing a name and a location to save at the resulting dialog.
Breathe as you are almost home.  You have sucessfully created a file that can be called up again and again without opening InDesign. (albeit, a postscript file but not a problem)
    Now,
    1. Double click on this new file (it will have a .ps extention) or just open it in your PREVIEW (apple supplied utility)   Preview is where you accomplish the even and odd page objective.
    2. Preview will show you a short progress dialog while it rips this postscript file into a PDF.
    3. Click on PRINT
    4. Select your printer, page range, select the Paper Size (again not document size  but  the size sheet that you are printing the 2-up , imposed (booklet) document on. If not in the selection dialog, then use the custom option to create it (custom paper size) and give it a name.
    5. Click on SCALE and insert 100% in place of the weird number that it will insert for you.  You will then see your document correctly displayed in the sidebar preview window.
    6.  OK, now what you have been waiting for. Click on the box that says Preview (the active window) and select Paper Handling from the drop-down and select from Pages to Print the coveted odd or even page selection.  You can also do other things that should have been back at the InDesign print dialog but are now gone.  Explore. Enjoy.
    7.  You will have to work out your own work flow about reverse or no reverse order and how to flip, etc. But you will be working with something predictable at this point.
    8.  Since this has been ripped into a PDF , you might as well Click on the PDF button and click on save as a PDF at this point to save that postscript to PDF rip.   Also print using PREVIEW for the newly created PDF file next time as you will not have to learn a bunch of new dialogs and be frustrated all over again.
I am now back in business printing the book blocks for my handbound journals.

  • Problem printing odd or even pages

When i print odd pages only, the last page will not be printed. If i print even pages, an extra blank page is printed.
The print dialog preview shows the correct pages to be printed, but the actual prinout differs.
This happens on documents with off number of pages.
Because of this problem, manual duplex printing becomes very difficult. My printer does not have duplex printing option.
    I'm using AR v8.1.2

I have a similar problem. With my HP-1200, I need to print even pages in reverse order first. I have a 13-page document. When I print "even-pages only," it prints the following pages in this order: 12, 10, 8, 6, 4, 2, 2. It prints page 2 twice! When I put the pages back into the printer and select "odd pages only" (not reversed), it prints pages 1, 3, 5, 7, 9 and 11, but it does not print page 13.
I installed this Adobe Reader, version 8.1.2 a few days ago. I never had this problem with previous versions of Adobe Reader. I am running Vista Home Premium on my Dell Dimension E520.

  • Manual duplex printing doesn't work for LaserJet 100 color MFP M175a

    Hi !
OS Windows 8.1. Printer LaserJet 100 color MFP M175a. Driver version 61.108.8.10073 date 2011 Apr 13th
    1. After switching on checkbox "Print on Both Sides (Manually)" on "Finishing" tab of Print Properties Dialog and
start printing, dialog with instruction how to turn paper appears. Then printer must print odd pages, stop for
turning paper and then continue printing of even pages on the back side of paper sheets. But my device prints
all pages sequentually in order 1,2,3,... without any breaks. What is it- my mistake or possible bug in driver ?
    2. Windows API function DeviceCapabilities with fwCapability=DC_DUPLEX for this printer returns 0 (duplex printing
impossible). This value for any other HP printer, even without automatic duplexer, always equel to 1.

  • Duplex printing by hand

Want to print 77 pages, duplex. Must simply place the printed odd pages in the input. Printer hangs, nothing happened. I have given the "go on" monitor after replacing the paper. There is one thing what I consider not so normal. The printer halted in the last odd page, waited a moment, took the paper one again in and threw it out. Then I replaced the printed pages. Printer is still hanging after one hour. What can I do? Thanks for help.

    Hi @hfjverhoeven,
Thank you for visiting the HP Support Forums! I understand you are running into problems manually duplexing with your A909 printer. First let's go ahead and perform a Hard Reset:
    1. Unplug all cables and memory cards from the printer. Unplug the power cord, directly from the back of the printer while the printer is still turned on.
    2. Unplug the other end of the cord from the power source.
    3. If there is a power module on the power cord, disconnect one end and reconnect it.
    4. After 60 seconds, plug the cord directly into a wall outlet (not a surge protector or battery backup as they can cause the printer to lose basic functionality over time).
    5. Plug the power cord into the back of the printer.
    6. The printer should automatically power back up. If it doesn't, turn it on with the power button.
    7. Try making a photocopy (if your printer is an all-in-on printer) before connecting any other cables to the printer.
    8. Connect any other needed cables to the printer.
Did this help?  To better help you please leave me with the following information:
    1. What is the Exact model of HP Printer you are using, I am not able to find the 909?
    2. How is the printer connected, USB or Wireless?
    3. Do you get any error message when you attempt to print?

  • Duplex printing doesn't work on HP Laserjet 3055

    Hi!
I am a new rMBP user and I need your help with setting up a printer. I want to use my old printer HP LaserJet 3055 for both side printing - using Widnows I didn't have any problem with that. The printer supports manual duplex printing - it means - print odd pages - beep - then I put sheets into the tray and click button - even pages. I use this printer via network.
I was thinking about solution for a few hours. I've tried:
installing printer with PCL, Postscript drivers,
downloaded HP drives from Apple (even app store installed some kind of upgrade but doesn't include 3055)
using HP Laserjet 3052 drivers (it's default choice by OS X)
upgrading remotely printer drives using ltr command in Terminal,
    installing printer via USB,
even installing Gutenprint and then hpijs with some sh**
The printer is printing but not on both side My first impression about  OS X Yosemite and rMBP is awsome and I know that using so old devices may cause problems but I cannot change my printer.
    Help my guys, please!!
