  • Moved house, being billed for broadband and equipm...

We were approached by BT to upgrade our Broadband to Infinity.
I explained that we were likely to move in the near future and the advisor said that we could transfer our account to the new house. I was suspicious that this would not be the case and made the advisor repeat that this contract would be portable.
As it happens, we have a gap in between houses and now BT are demanding £270 for equipment and contract fees.
I use BT at home and at my company and feel really aggrieved by this situation.
I was sent a prepaid bag for my hub etc which I returned but BT are still charging for equipment.
I hung on for ages last week, navigated loads of "press 1" for this " press 2" for that menus and when I finally did get to speak to a human she could hardly understand English.
I will really be thinking twice about having BT as a provider in our next house and will be reviewing my work broadband.

If you would like to contact one of the UK based BT Care Team who moderate this forum, they should be able to help you.
They can be contacted using this link BT Care Team

  • Trouble playing music from server after moving house

the music i play in itunes is stored on a different pc, we have a 'music server'. so when i first installed itunes, i imported them and had no trouble whatsoever.
a month ago we moved to a new house, and last week we finally had our pc's ready to use.
my boyfriend had some trouble with the server, but its working now.
the only thing is, that when i want to play a song, i get the popup saying: 'the song .... could not be used because the original file could not be found. would you like to locate it?'
i can locate the song and then it will play, but we have about 18000 songs on the server... there must be a quicker way than locating all songs one by one.
    help us!

    Hi Michale
Yes im the same person, one account at work one at home. Now i ahev done everything you suggested and still no joy. One thing i have noticed though is that any of my ibooks can share each others music, great that is what i want but on my server. Now i have a server and an intel mac mini both plugged into my router via ethernet, i cannot share any music via itunes from any of the ibooks that use wireless connection. I have an airport express that is also plugged into my router, thus i get my complete network.
I can see for looking why this is not happening, i really would love to stream my, vidoe, pics and music from a central server in my house.
The server is running OSX Tiger 10.4.5 server edition. now when i go into the sys prefs on the server i dont have the option of firewall. As i think as it is a server edition you have use the Firewall in server admin, i have turned this on and clicked in itunes in it and still no joy.
    Any ideas.....help

  • Duplicate songs after moving to new PC

I moved to a new PC yesterday and copied the "My Documents" folder from my old PC to my new PC. When I connected my iPod to my new PC a noticed I had duplicate versions of all my songs. I have LOTS of songs and wonder what the easist way to fix my problem. I really want to avoid deleting the duplicate songs one by one.
Thanks in advance for help on this one!

Attempted to uninstall Quicktime. The uninstall will not finish, saying it encountered a fatal error. Quicktime will not run, either.
when a QuickTime uninstall throws that message at folks, it's usually best to try completely scraping the itunes and QuickTime program files and installation configuration information from the PC, and doing a careful staged reinstall afterwards.
try the technique in the following post. (it includes instructions on what to do if Add/Remove isn't letting you uninstall one of the programs.)

  • Moving house cancellation charges

I have just bought a new home and will be moving in about 4 weeks.  I have been with BT for over a year and currently have my phone, unlimited broadband and BT Vision with the bronze package.  My partner wants to move to another provider when we move and I am looking to cancel my service.  I phoned up BT to find out how much the cancellation charge would be and was advised that I would be charged £349!!!  I checked with the agent how long I had remaining on my contract and was advised that my contract is due to run out on October 27th, so I fail to see how it works out to this much for 4 months of contract.  I would appreciate some advice with this and if any MOD could look into the charges for me i'd be grateful

Hi leep1980, have a look at the term charges here. They might help you work out a figure.

  • Can't see iTunes Library anymore on ATV (after moving house)

Can anyone advise me on how to make sure I can see and play my Mac computer library music on my ATV please... Thanks!!
(I have moved and in reconnecting, the ATV no longer sees the library although the ATV does register in iTunes as a device... I have used the ATV temporarily with a Macbook while the pro was unavailable).

    greetings van D !
if you click on the icon of your TV under devices, do you see this ?
if so, the library on the Pro has been turned into a secondary (streaming only) library. you should still be able to stream content to the TV but in order to sync, you will have re-register the Pro as the primary lib.

  • No ADSL link after moving home

    Dear Moderators,
I moved home within E14 area. I had a working internet connection despite issues being posted around Poplar area and the 02075 issue.
After moving house, the same number issued, but I checked the hub and there is no ADSL link at all.
I double checked to make sure nothing else is connected, ensured only the BT home hub was connected, there is neither a blue or yellow light and finally changed filters. I logged inside the BT home hub and the hub says no ADSL connection
I called the help desk who did the line test and I explained what I did and they asked me to change filters again, reboot router, reboot my computer. It was promoted to 2nd line and I was told I would be contacted in 5 hours, I have waited the whole day at home.
Any chance someone could check on the exchange what the issue is and see if there is a ADSL link and whether it is ADSL 2+? If you can provide an email address, I can email you my BT number.
    Thanks.
    Solved!

Thanks for your help mods. Very professional help and the personal touch of calling me to keep me updated was very nice.
Lastly, I was told my line supported ADSL2, however when my ADSL came online it only shows 2MB/s (my estimated speed was 7MB/s), can someone please take a look?

  • BT bill charges for non service during moving hous...

BT dreadful customer service & incompetence
    Hi all,
After deciding to move home I made the necessary arrangements with BT prior to our moving date. Our switch over date was 14th November 2014.
After numerous calls with BT and mostly dealing with multiple BT operators with little knowledge, poor communication skills, lack of interest and on a few occasions extreme rudeness, I was still no further forward with a line connection date.
It became apparent that there was no line services to my new home, which I could understand although I was disappointed not to have been informed of the situation prior to my moving home (a fact BT should be easily aware of)
I spent weeks going round and round with no clear outcomes or specific information returning to me, I actually knew more information from the site builders than BT knew, BT even had the arrogance to tell me that my information from the builders was incorrect (which it wasn't)
Numerous misinformation, conflicting information, non returning of calls, engineer dates that were not upheld, non required engineer dates are amongst a series of frustrating dealings with the vast majority of the BT operators, there were only a few operators that seemed to care and assist and they were at the end of my ordeal of 3 months!!!!!
It was very clear that the information from each phone call between myself and BT was not correctly recorded. On two separate occasions during a singular phone call I actually had to repeat my situation to three separate operators to which I had become accustomed to being transferred amongst.
So to be clear from 14th November 2014 until late February 2015 we were without services.
During one of my many and expensive mobile phone calls to BT I was advised to set up my own mobile broadband and they would foot the bill and repay the expense until they provided a service.
(Which I did as I had no confidence in a connection date within months)
Throughout this ordeal BT had the arrogance to attempt to bill me, even though we had no service!!!!
    Here is the kicker.
BT have now disconnected us from their service (31st March2015) for an unpaid bill, a bill we can't get amended and corrected to reflect the 3 months without their incompetent service.
They have even added charges for BT sports which I can't even watch as I have no viewing box, I believe this came free for 6 months) with my original package.
Even this is an issue. I was informed upon moving house that a new contract would commence when I moved home thus starting the 6 months free BT sports package once more (yet another mistake by BT)
We will not pay any form of bill until they amend and correct the bill to reflect we had no service for 3 months.
I have now tried to call to speak to an operator regarding the issue, after entering my home phone number the BT automated service redirects me to the only option which is to pay the outstanding bill!!!
No bill will be paid until it is corrected, I will be sending a bill for the mobile broadband I required to set up and maintain. I am also considering looking into the loss of earnings I suffered due to the length of time I was offline, as well as the amount of time required to deal with the sorry mess. A stressful time enough moving home without this added fiasco.
I am also aware of the Ofcom regulatory body as well as the multiple rules BT will have breached in our contract.
All in all we have endured a long and needlessly complicated mess, which thinking was behind us, is in fact still present. We are seriously considering removing our service completely with BT which I am sure in the eyes of the law will be justified and legally binding due to the numbers of contract breaches sustained by BT.

I have asked a moderator to provide assistance, they will post an invite on this thread.
They are the only BT employees on this forum, and are a UK based team of people, who take personal ownership of your problem.

  • Moving to Non-FiOS Area and Being Charged Contract Breach Fee

I am a faithful Verizon Fios and Wireless customer who has been very content with the products and services Verizon has offered over the years.  Recently I’ve been having a major dispute completely out of character from what my experience has been.  I am moving to an area that does not have Verizon Fios, so I am unable to transfer my Double Play Package to the new residence.  According to the customer support specialists, since “high speed” internet and telephone are available at my new residence, I am forced to either extend my contract for the meager services that are available at my new residence, or pay a contract breach fee of $170.  When I initially spoke with the sales department to sign up for the Double Play Package, I specifically asked about, and was guaranteed that if the same services weren’t offered in a new residence that I would not be required to pay a contract breach fee.  Knowing that my job as a Department of Defense contractor could result in my needing to change locations, as well as the fact that my lease would be up during the contract period, there was no way I was going enter into the contract without that stipulation.  So the situation is either that the sales representative was incorrect, or purposefully misleading.  Regardless, I will be moving to a location that is not fully supported by my current contract.
I am a Department of Defense contractor with the Army Wounded Warrior Program, and as such I work primarily from home.  The “high speed” band width offered at my new residence by Verizon of 3 mbps does not remotely meet my needs.  I currently pay around $150 a month to Verizon Fios for actual high speed internet with a bandwidth of 150 mbps and an HD television package, capable of streaming video, video-teleconferencing, 24/7 internet access, etc.  If I were to extend my contract at my new residence I would end up paying $49 a month for 1/50th of the performance, a telephone service that I do not currently even have or need, and zero television service.  This is idiotic.
The bottom line is I am moving; I have a contract with Verizon with stipulations that were either erroneous or dishonestly represented, for services not available in the area I’m moving to.  The attitude and response I got from the customer support representative I spoke with on July 28th, 2014 was basically too bad, deal with it, pay up or Verizon will take this to collections.  Collections…for $170?  Amazing.  As an MBA I am educated in ethical business practices.  Her approach was unethical at the very least, and bordered on extortion.  Pay up or else.  I was very clear with this individual on what I do for a living, what my requirements are, and the basis of understanding in signing the contract originally.  This is like a catering fee for $500 a plate banquet and getting a Happy Meal in a fast food restaurant…and getting threatened for not agreeing to food or location.  Demanding $170 dollars because Verizon is not capable of providing services I require is ridiculous.  I’ve been an exceptional wireless customer for years and an exceptional FIOS customer for 3 years.  It cannot be the $170 profit that Verizon is worried about, because from a business standpoint this is the situation: If I am charged the $170 for disconnecting my current services I will cancel all other Verizon contracts forever.  I am a 27 year old business professional and spend roughly $1500 a year on Verizon Wireless products and services.  If I continue to use Verizon Wireless products until the age of 60, Verizon will have made roughly $50,000 in revenue over the next 33 years in today’s dollars.  Even if you discounted that at 5% (which is a purposefully high number from a capital budgeting standpoint) you stand to forgo a present value of $24,000 in revenue.  That means you’re compounded return on the $170 dollars will be about -5% per year.  The immediate loss by present value standards will be -99.29%.  That’s what satisfied, dedicated customers bring…and for some reason your service representatives don’t grasp this concept and would prefer that I completely leave Verizon as a disgruntled former customer and get the one-time $170 erroneous breach fee.  Asinine business model.
The bottom line is that I am going to cancel my FIOS contract next month soley because Verizon is not able to provide the services I require, which is fair.  Now, further down the road, the decision on whether I will be a FIOS customer again is going to hinge on my experience to date.  If I am unfairly coerced into paying the $170 fee I can honestly say I will no longer use Verizon for any service, wireless or otherwise.  I would prefer to pay a little more, lose some connectivity now and then, basically spend my money elsewhere, than be dealt with this way.  As a customer going through all this, the breach fee is a pivotal decision point as far as my future as a customer with Verizon goes, as I’m sure it is for other former and future customers.  My lesson learned from the support representative and my experience with Verizon as a whole right now is that I would be foolish to enter into another contract with your company if this is how I, as an exceptional customer, am going to be treated in the future.
I would seriously appreciate a call from someone I can discuss this reasonably with as soon as possible.  I do not want to directed to support services for this.

I was suprised and disappointed to have had the same expericne as Marc12 when I canceled my Verizon FiOS triple play service today. As with him, I needed to unexpectedly relocate for work after living in my current location for a short time (a little over 1 year) and the area where I'm moving does not offer Verizon FiOS. Overall I have been satisfied with FiOS and would have been happy to continue using their service after moving, but because they don't offer it in my new location that isn't possible. I'm already frustrated that I lost a lot of money by buying and selling a house in such period of time and it certainly was not my intention to move when I signed up for Verizon service (otherwise I would not have bought a house). It feels unfair to be charged a termination fee when I don't really have a choice about moving and I have no option to continue using FiOS. I asked about waiving the termination fee due to the circumstances but the two representatives I spoke with today on the phone refused to honor that request. As with other commentators on here and as Marc12 laid out with his business background, this seems to be a puzzling business decision/strategy by Verizon b/c while I had been happy with FiOS the last 14 months, this turn of events today does not particularly make me want to sign up for Verizon services in the future should I live somewhere where it is an option. It is also a puzzling decision b/c when I briefly lived in an apartment here prior to buying a house last year I had TV/internet with Uverse. Uverse did not charge me a termination fee despite me having had a promotional deal with a contract when I moved even though I only used their services for about 3 months b/c I bought a house in an area where they don't offer service. Their rational for not charging a penalty was that I was moving to an area not served by Uverse. I don't understand why Verizon is adopting what I think would strike most folks as an unfair practice of taking advantage of people who need to move and don't have the option of continuing their Verizon service.  It would be great to talk with someone at Verizon who has the authority to make an exception to this cancellation penalty as the two represenatives I talked with today when I canceled my service claimed they didn't have that ability and then claimed that there was no else I could talk with who did have that authority. I also really think that Verizon should rethink this policy. It's unfair, it seems to strike other people that way based on the comments here, it's out of line with their competitiors, and it's creating ill will among customers who were previously happy so that Verizon can save a trivial amount of money compared with the fees they could generate from these same people if they used Verizon in the future.

When the regular customer service reps fail, try one of these:Send an email to the team at "[email protected]". Include:

        Full name
        Service address
Best contact phone number and best time to call
        A description of the problem
One of their problem resolution specialists should contact you to follow up, usually by phone. They seem to be quite a bit sharper than the regular customer service reps.-OR-Use the feedback form at http://customer.xfinity.com/help-and-support/vp-contact-form.You might also try Twitter (https://twitter.com/ComcastCares/) and Facebook (https://www.facebook.com/Xfinity).
Comcast sometimes responds to questions here in the forums, and sometimes they do not. When they do the typical response time is somewhere between a few hours and a few days.

  • HT204088 Why am I being charged three times for an game that I purchased? Plus, there is nothing in your website to address this problem. It makes me feel like this company is just trying to steal my money if I do not look or question my billing account.

How do I get extra charges credited back to my account? I was over charged three times on an app I bought.

So any time any company accidentally charges you 2-3 times, they are trying to steal your money? In most cases, they fix it on their own after they catch it. If you want to make them aware of the issue, contact iTunes Support: http://apple.com/support/itunes/contact/
